Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Poor you Cha Cha!!! So glad to hear that Zayn is on the mend. Yes it is just awful isn't it, I didn't realise how common bronchiolitis was when Seth was in there were 7 others in too!!
Hopefully he'll soon be totally back to normal Seth got better just as quickly as he got ill and the BF will be helping too!!! Have to plan for a spring baby next time as these germs are rife during the winter!!

Did Zayn have the test to find out which virus caused the infection? Seth did and was found to have RSV which is the commonest cause of bronchiolitis and they have to isolate known carriers of it.( at least you get to have a side room all to yourself though!!!)

I'm going for my post natal tomorrow and Seth's SIX weeks check nevermind that he will be 10 weeks on sunday!!!

Hope everyone else is ok!!!xxx

Rodeo · 05/01/2006 20:13

Evening all,

Chacha, so glad you are back home after such a worrying time (for us too! ). And well done on the expressing and then back to breast you clever woman!!

Nova, Jess is now 11lb 14oz, which I think is pretty average? Maybe a bit small, she's still not out of her 0-3 month clothes though yet, but she is quite short! And Nat's pretty tall isn't she? My bf's baby who is now 5 weeks is now 60cm tall, she's sooo leggy!! She's over the top centile for her height, she has to fold her up to put her in her carseat!!

Diege, love the 'spirited' toddler idea! My ds isgoing to be a very, very interesting grown up - if he lives that long! He's already told me he wants to go 'coasteering' (where some mentalists jump off cliffs into the sea!), he's only 3!! Will put forward some dates for sheff tomorrow, I've left my diary downstairs and I've got a sleeping baby on my lap

Ooh I can hear 'teabells' downstairs x x x

L&Ssmum, we must arrange to meet in Derby soon! And could you make the trip to Meadowhall?? x x x

OP posts:
LaylaandSethsmum · 05/01/2006 20:28

Yes Rodeo we will have to meet up, Meadowhall is doable but not with DD aswell can't cope with both of them and she'd just be bored!!
Have to apologise Rodeo , have been on the yahoo group thingy and tried to put a new piccy of Seth on but for some reason the picture has ended up in your box and now i can't remove it because only you and make alterations!! its DH fault god knows how he managed it but if you can move it to mine then great, if not just delete it!!!Sorry.xx

browniechick · 05/01/2006 21:49

Hello all - fingers crossed, virus has now been banished from computer, but don't want to speak too soon! Dh and I feel very proud of selves, as managed to vanquish nasty demons ourselves!
Diege - re fingernails, have had same problem with nipping ds's skin whilst cutting (although, it wasn't actually me cutting them at the time). I have now resorted to using an emery board, the soft side - this seems to work well, but have to hold his hand quite tight as he doesn't like it at all!
Chacha - glad your lo is now on the mend - thoughts and positive vibes to both of you.
Looks like I am the only one in Warwickshire - but think someone is in Oxford (can't remember who) which isn't too far away....
Good Night all, will speak soon.
Brownie

Rodeo · 05/01/2006 22:13

Ah, I don't mind people thinking he's mine, he's very cute!! Did try to move it but seem to have put it in a folder all on it's own. Ah well! I will CAT you my number so we can meet for coffee one morning. Is Layla at playgroup? Joe goes every morning so I'm easy as to which day

Just added another picture myself, but you you can see more of my sis and gran than Jess! Just put her down to bed, I wonder when she'll wake up tonight? We shall see!

Off to spend some time with dp watching telly - Ricky Gervais meets Larry whatshisname, should be good, dp has got me into Curb your Enthusiasm, does anyone else watch it?

Night x x x

tessasmum · 05/01/2006 23:18

ChaCha - glad you are back and Zayn is on the mend. Scary times tho?

Enthusia - if any Health Visitor tells you to restrict Sam's milk you have my full permission to punch her on the nose There are only 2 days between Ash and Sam, they were a similar birth weight and are a similar weight and length now (13 lb 8oz and 61cms in our case though probably weighs more now as that was 2 days ago!!) Ash is exclusively breastfed and you can't overfeed a bf baby so sounds to me like Sam is doing just fine.

Jen - All babies are different regarding weight, Tessa was same weight as Ash at birth but was much lighter than him at 8 weeks, though just as long. If Finn is happy and growing steadily then you are doing a great job and he is getting all he needs.
I know what you mean about the tingly/heavy boobs though. I have no idea what it really means but seems to happen when I think Ash is due a feed and he doesn't! Feels a bit like my 'let-down' this time round, like I am being grabbed by the boobs

LilJ - if Infacol doesn't work you could try Gripe Water after they are 1 month. Infacol worked for Tessa but was rubbish for Ash but 1/2 dose of Gripe Water before most feeds (I forget sometimes!!) has done wonders, makes him burp and he can fart like a trooper without any pain.

Didn't seem to have much reaction to the jabs last night or today but he seems unsettled and a bit grumpy tonight so have given him Calpol and are waiting for it to kick-in. Fingers crossed for a good night.

Ok, off to try and get some sleep while I can.
Night night

tessasmum · 05/01/2006 23:22

X-posted Sharon. Ouch re stitches, poor you

Think we are doing well on bouncing baby boys here aren't we?

JenJam · 06/01/2006 00:24

sharon sympathies, but best to get it sorted sooner rather than later, hey?.

I'm seeing a physiotherapist tomorrow and a bum specialist on monday, i'm a bit worried they might find something amiss and i might need restitching too. it's sort of sort down there if i shuffle along on my bottom or move in a certain way.

....hopefully these appts are routinely offered and not something i actually need (did anyone else get referred to physio and a specialist after being stitched, or is it just me?

hope i'm not going to be incontinent in later life

also. are you all watching curb your enthusiasm. it's the funniest comedy programme i've seen for ages!!

night night

JenJam · 06/01/2006 00:24

sort of sore. and not doing much bum shuffling. makes me sound like a lazy toddler.

Enthusia · 06/01/2006 08:31

Thanks Tessa, that is so good to hear. There are so many different messages given. My friend was told you can't make a baby fat until after 6 months and she is now feeding hers 240ml a feed. Whereas I was told I could make Sam fat by overfeeding and am only giving 140ml a feed. Very confusing!!!!! I will punch her though if she says anything I don't like!!!

ChaCha, great to hear from you and am glad that Zayn is on the mend, it must have been so worrying, can't imagine my little one in hospital, give him a hug from me.

All this talk of stitching sounds very painful. I have my first internal today since the birth and a smear, not looking forward to that at all!!!!

Sam slept really well last night, not much snuffling or breathing difficulties, but is now really quite bad, keeps coughing as well, I think it is where the mucus is going down his throat. Might sneakily ask the Dr to take a look, I do have a double appointment booked anyway!

Anyone up for a meet down here, haven't heard much since it was first discussed!

Oh and Busy I never got an invite to the Yahoo group, can anyone send me one so I can have a peek and upload my photos!!! Unless this is a deliberate ploy to keep me out

Well better do all this paperwork

speak soon

Londoner · 06/01/2006 09:28

Hi all..sneaked on to say hi and tell you i'm off to the ccinema this morning to see 'match point with Elizabeth! How cool is that? am so excited...will catch up soon, have a great weekend all...xxx

Rodeo · 06/01/2006 12:10

Thought you might find this and responding posts funny - poor MorningPaper!

Have a lovely time at the cinema Londoner

Afternoon everyone! Trip for Libby's jabs was pretty uneventful; better than I'd imagined, but couldn't bring myself to look at her face when they put the needle in! Cried for a few minutes, then she fell fast asleep, so not too traumatised I think! .
Thnaks Brownie for nails tip - I'm leaving them fo9r a while, but will try emery board with vaseline when I'm feeling brave!
GOlden: slimming world is ace - ypu can choose red or green days, or a combination of both, and yes you can eat the appropriate 'free' foods in unlimited quantities on these days (think this is how it works, as how many baked potatoes could you eat in one day?)I'm veggie, so it's always green days for me, but SW is so into Quorn you wouldn't believe,soI'm happy . Lost 2 stone after dd2 on it, so happy to try again this time.I have about the same to lose this time .
Chacha - so glad to hear Zayn is ok, must have been a nightmare for you.
Anyone else see Celebrity BB last night? I watched first half hour, then fell asleep and woke up at about 10.30 on sofa to bad swearing on telly ('c' word stuff)and was totally disorientated! Not sure what programme it was, but it woke me up! Looking forward to soap star singing thing too - I do like my telly !

goldenoldie · 06/01/2006 13:19

Rodeo - loved that thread - reminded me why I'm going back to work!

Diege - saw clebrity BB, can't believe George Galloway is in there. I thought he was a serious politician? And as an MP, we tax-payers are paying his wages to represent his constituents, not to fart about on TV.

Fir the baby who has everything..........

ChaCha · 06/01/2006 15:26

Hi everyone,

Londoner & Sharon - Hadn't seen you post for ages - nice to catch up again. Hope hospital visit is not too uncomfortable Sharon.

Enthusia - Fancy a trip to Oxford? I could visit you, but only when DH is free to take me. DS could be a toddler by then! BrownieChick - Warwickshire isn't too far is it? Have only been once on a school trip with the kids - maybe you could pop down too. I could arrange a lunch at home if weather is still as naff as this.

Was ROFL at that link Rodeo - oh my goodness!!

How is Ezra Golden?

SharonTW · 06/01/2006 17:04

hi again everyone 2 posts in 2 days getting good !! typing with one hand Sam attached as usual
Diege I work for makers of quorn if you lived nearer i could get you discounted products sorry !
thanks all forwell wishes for tuesday will let you know how it goes x

ChaCha · 06/01/2006 18:55

Sharon - I just had Quorn and veg pie!! Yummy!

novadandypowder · 06/01/2006 22:40

Diege - you woke up during Ricky Gervais meets Larry David. Curb your Enthusiasm has me rolling with laughter, it is by far the best comedy programme EVER! We've just finished the 4th season on DVD and it's the strongest one yet. I found the Ricky meets prog a bit dull though..

Rodeo, my little chunky monkey is now 14lb 2oz , and has jumped over another centile - she started on the 25th and is now over the 75th. We've moved her onto formula for hungry babies so we'll just have to wait and see. The HV suggested if that doesn't work, trying to wean her a bit earlier than 6 months, but I want to try and last out if we can.

Already hooked on CBB, quite a strong line up for them this year...

Busyalexsmummy · 06/01/2006 23:39

Enthusia-CAT me so i can send you a invite-i need your email address in order to do so xx

rodeo-love that link-soooooooo funny!!- can say though, thankfully, I dont leak=dont need breastpads=bit of a bummer as i bought about 20 pairs of washables when pg!! nevermind! -hey, i can sqirt milk about a foot from one boob though(although not from the other which is strange!)

my emeda dual breatpump arrived yesterday, bought it on ebay for £46 icl p+p=bargain!! am trying to build up my evening supply and also freezer supply as my driving lessons start on the 10th jan and the first one is at 5pm, and i dont really want dp giving ds2 formula at that time of the day, rather ebm(he only has formula in evenings)
have 8oz so far in the fridge, its a great pump though, saves loads of time and hand cramps!

rountine is starting slowly to form now, am holding off till approx 10+pm each night, he then has between 2-6oz of formula, usually settles by 12-12.30, then goes through until 7.30-8am, fantastic! hes really starting to fatten out now, and looks more and more like alex did when he was that age!

poor alf has a cold/virus, bloomin sister gave it to alex whos now passing it to rest of us,poor little thing can hardly breath, keeps stopping breathing for a few seconds as hes gagging on mucus in the back of his throat, feel helpless as theres nothing i can give him, although dr has perscribed saline drops to help thin out the mucus, which i need to collect tommorrow morning...

Chacha - glad to hear Zayn is ok

right best go and wake LO up and give him a bottle before we head off to bed(think hes only asleep because hes ill-first settled evening so far since wk 1!)

L xx

Busyalexsmummy · 07/01/2006 08:15

Uggghh just had the worst night since he was born, he was literally awake all night and is still awake now...feel hanging, think its a case of burning the candle at both ends as ds2 will also be awake soon too....
hope everyone else had better nights.....

Diege · 07/01/2006 10:37

Oh BAM, isn't it always the way that the minute you start to feel ypu're getting a good night's sleep, they have a bad one! HOpefully with it being a weekend you will get some chance to sleep today? (DH/P taking boys out?). It's a killer (I've been there several times!)so hopefully you get a better one tonight .
LOL Nova at me waking during CYE!! I remember briefly thinking, bloomin 'eck, the channel 4 bosses are going to be in trouble for Big Brother 'celebs' language!!
GOlden: agree about Galloway .Quite liked him before, being a bit of a leftie myself , but was really shocked to hear he was in there. Can just imkagine his reaction if it had been an opposition MP! Well, enough politics for a Saturday morning! Off to chidrens party with the 3 of them and DH now (why is it that husbands and partners always seem to disappear behind huge newspapers at playbarns??)

Londoner · 07/01/2006 11:05

Good morning!

Busy, you poor thing, hope you manage to have a bit of a relax at some point today? Poss your dp might be able to take ds's out so you can rest? RE: bf, I am one of those that needs to change pads thrice a day and sleep on towels, thought it was the same for everyone til I came on MN! Must be lovely not to need worry about leaking, well done for being so organised with your pumping regime, Alfie has the same routine as Elizabeth btw, @12-7am each night. Great isn't it! Hope you're all over the cold lurgies v. soon.
Nova, my dh and ds1 were telling me how great that Ricky G meets Larry David prog was, but I just can't stand Ricky G ... always narrow my eyes and feel like growling when he appears... it's an instinctive thing.... Sorry washables didn't work out for you(yes still trying to catch up!) lol at Natalie being unable to move with them on, you are funny! Hope the hungry baby milk works for you, sounds like Natalie's doing really well and growing fast... hadn't thought about the poss that she might be ready for weaning! It makes sense to me. When I had my first ds they said to wean at 3 months, then they changed it to 3 and 1/2 months a few years later, then 4 and now they say 6! Perhaps it's just best to follow your instincts? I started giving all of mine a bit of baby rice mixed with milk or puree a few of the veg we were having mixed with a little milk and/or baby rice from 3 months because mine all needed it at that age and because that is the age mums were told to wean at for many many years, so it wouldn't surprise me if she couldn't last on milk only for six months, I've only ever met one mum who did bf only for six months... it's all I can do to get mine to 3 months without giving them something else.
Sharon, you poor thing, good luck for Tuesday. You're obviously giving out amazing milk btw....13lbs 12oz, wow! Well done!
Tessa, glad Ash's jabs came and went without event.
Jen, hope everything goes well at the physio today.....
Enthusia, hope your smear went okay?
Rodeo, loved the link thank you!
Diege , Well done with the jabs........."Cried for a few minutes, then she fell fast asleep," was it you that cried? Good luck today at kids party.
Golden, lol at baby iPod! How's Ezra?
Twinkle, good to hear from you....... moisturising Josh's head before the school run?
Phew!
Cinema was fantastic! Got there to find about 80 prams/buggies in the foyer, then stepped throught the doors to the theatre into another world! Cinema jam packed with mums/dads and crying babies of all ages stages, was a real eureka moment I thought 'so this is where all the mums and babies are'....! The film was great, really enjoyed it, although felt like covering baby's eyes/ears during the steamy bits lol! It was so amazing to see something new at the cinema, which I confess I haven't done much of in the last 14 years .... I almost cried with joy... and there's a cafe upstairs, loads of mums in same boat feeding/changing nappies etc. will be going every week if I can now...anyone else? Beks, thought it might make a really good place for a meet up? It's every Friday at 11.30am.. Greenwich Picturehouse.
