Hiya, haven't caught up properly so not ignoring anyone!!!!!

ChaCha's dad was leaving last week so she was going to be on her own. Have just text her but am hoping she is just very busy.

Will catch up soon

browniechick · 01/02/2006 20:51

Hello all - not been on for a few days, went out shopping today with a friend to an indoor shopping centre locally. Very nice - lots of money spent on new bras! Didn't realise they could be soo expensive!! Although they have grown in size, even though not BF, and have actually got proper bras that fit and everything! no trinny & susannah 4 boobs here - oh no!!
Very impressed with John Lewis Parent room - area for Bottle feeding and Breast feeding, cold water dispenser and all sorts in there - very spacious!
Have also had loads to do for Brownies - still haven't got myself as organised as I keep intending to be! For those of you who haven't realised - I run one of our local Brownie packs, so have 24 7-10 year olds for a couple of hours a week!
All is well with little Thomas - his rash is virtually gone now, and just a bit of dry skin on his tummy and over his shoulders - massage loads of cream in twice a day though - this seems to be doing the trick!
Agree with other posts about PN group - stick with it. Ours has been quite good actually, they asked us all at the beginning what sort of stuff we wanted to cover. Have done Intros (wk 1), Sleep, Rashes and minor ailments, Baby Resusitation and we are doing Play this week. THink we also have an Intro to baby massage session and a session on weaning (but think that is in March).
Sorry for long post - this is what happens when don't get on for a while!
Am going to settle down in front of Channel 4 with a big drink to watch the BF programme!

Just got back in from evening with friends and dp was on the net looking at cars again, so sneaking on quickly before bed! Also a teeny bit tipsy so excuse any silliness!

Tex, brill to have you back, do you know it's nearly a year ago we started 'due in Nov 05????!!!' with HellKat, Can you believe it?!! If us Northerners come down to London in the summer, you will come too won't you?!

Met S&Lsmum today, Layla and Joe got on very well Although think he was a little perturbed about her asking for a kiss when it was time for home! Although think he was secretly pleased. He's got a full on cold and temperature now though, hope he's not passed it on, if he has I'm v. sorry!

Nova, didn't realise you were two-timing us with 'netmums'?!

Right off to bed dp's not heard a peep from Jess all night, oooh might look on the bfing prog thread though first, didn't get to watch it, so I'm going to find out the general MN concencus.......

Night x x x

Morning everyone!. Thanks for good wishes about my job application; it's all sent off now, so fingers crossed (it's for an OU lecturing post). Missed both breast feeding and adoption programmes last night, as out on a rare night out with DH on his work's 'do' . V. good, though may have blown it on the old 'sins' Golden (BTW, congrats on your weight loss ; you know, I just can't get into the SW thread, perhaps because it's centred round one topic? - must try harder!).
LONDONER: glad E settled after the calpol (is she a 'Libby' too?)It's a relief when it kicks in isn;t it! Are they old enough for Medisaid (sp?) yet? (now that's something else ). BTW, have heard very good things of the Mirena coil you mentioned (from friends who have it fitted); was considering it myself, but have been using natural methods since the birth ; still waiting for period, though have the worst thrush I've ever had (sorry if TMI over your breakfast )!.
RODEO: lol re: cats and Jess. Big cat is more interested in sleeping on gym/sheepskin that investigating LIbby, though he give her the odd sniff!
BTW: on slings, is there a certain age that they can face outwards (can't remember! Nova will know!). NOVA..netmums eh..hmm...not sure we can allow that! !
BOB: wish I could get DH to drool over kids clothes - I just get a grunt, and an occasional 'do they really need another dress/coat/pair of boot...' .
Well, gearing up for the dreaded driving lesson! Hope you all have a great time at the London meet-up!
Diege

goldenoldie · 02/02/2006 09:33

Diege - glad I not the only one not had a period yet. It took 3 months after my last pregnancy, so I'm expecting it in the next couple of weeks.

Londoner · 02/02/2006 10:27

Nova - Sorry to hear about Natalie's cold, you've been enjoying those swimming lessons too. Hope she feels better soon. BTW have used outward facing with my Wilkinet, E seemed happy even though I didn't realise you're supposed to fold the head flap down to the front at the time . Anyway, found this page for you...
www.wilkinet.co.uk/FAQs.asp#5
FAQs on wilkinet carrying positions
RE: Protecting her face from the weather..... Maybe you could knit one of those 'balaclavas' from BoB's pattern for her.....
Golden - no periods here yet either, don't usually get them until 28 days after I drop the last breast feed....
Diege - Thanks for the post, E is still using her full name and we're not sure if she's a Libby or a Lizzy yet . Glad to hear your friends are getting on with the Mirena, I think I'm going to chicken out though after doing some research last night on it, don't think I want to risk possible side affects such as "..anxiety and depression, weight gain, skin disorders, back pain, abdominal cramps , hirsutism..." !!!!!! Think if I experienced these and couldn't have them easily rememdied then it could really affect the quality of life for the whole family.... drat, thought I'd found the answer there.....
Enjoy your driving lesson!

Londoner · 02/02/2006 10:28

Sorry.... forgot to say Good Morning!

Hi everyone!

BEKsmum · 02/02/2006 10:36

Hi ya, just popping on quickly to check that the girls were still meeting up this morning.

Rodeo / Diege glad you enjoyed your night out, it does us good doesn't it but I agree with you Rodeo I spend all day thinking I really can't be bothered to go out but end up having a good time once I'm there.

Diege / Londoner think yourselves lucky I've just finished my 2nd period since Thomas was born! I can't believe that if I don't have any more kids I've got that joy to look forward to every month till the menopause - perhaps i will have to have another one just to get the 9 month break I was shocked it came back so quickly this time but I suppose I didn't feed for so long so that's my own fault

Brownie glad that Thomas is rash is better you must be relieved.

Right best go and get ready for the meet up speak to youall this evening BEKs

goldenoldie · 02/02/2006 10:38

Londoner - I had a coil for years, don't know if it was the one you are talking about tho. Coil was great - no problems/side-effects at all, and easy to put in. Had it in for about 3 years! Slightly painful getting it out, but would def have one again.

anyoneelsegetthis · 02/02/2006 11:08

argh..we've got blocked drains..woke up this morning and turned on the bathroom taps to hear dp yelling that dirty stinky water was bubbling out of the kitchen sink. nice!
we've got all the windows open to try and get rid of the smell..poor oskars sitting here in his snowsuit..teehee

anyhow, a plumber is here, just hope it doesn't cost a fortune. our bloody house is falling apart. grr.

looking forward to the meet up! i skipped breakfast to save room for the yummy pizzas teehee.

hope nats a bit better today nova..i assume you'll miss gymboree tomorrow if shes not 10% ?

i'm also having a ontraception dilemma, considering the coil or the injection, but both have possible side effects. might just go back on the pill. i used to take three packs in a rwo so only had a period every 9 weeks ( having consulted my doctor about it of course) ..it's tempting to go back to it.

babyonboard · 02/02/2006 11:12

oops..meant 100% nova..ten would not be so good

babyonboard · 02/02/2006 11:20

sorry if my 'alias' confused you..teeheee..i was posting about some a'hole stuff my oh has been doing and wanted to keep it private, as my cousins wife and a couple of friends know my username. ah well..maybe it's good for them to know..i should be talking to people about it anyway.

ChaCha · 02/02/2006 12:56

Hello ladies,

Would love to catch up but will take forever and a day so hope that you and your little ones are all well and that I haven't missed anything too important.

Having a lovely time with Z, getting out more and seeing more of other mums. Without DF here have had to get into a routine and it's working fine so far for the three of us. Only problem with seeing more of my friends and their kids is that there are a lot of runny noses around right now and Z has woken this morning with stuffy nose and a cough so spending the day cuddling him on the sofa and giving him lots of TLC. Not on the PC much these days so will hopefully talk again soon.

Enjoy all your meet ups (or hope you've enjoyed them) and take care of yourselves.

Love ChaCha xx

Rodeo · 02/02/2006 14:03

Good to hear from you Chacha, huge well done on getting out and about, some of my closest friends are women I've met through baby groups, toddler groups, school etc. so it is definitely worth it.

Bob read a bit of your post last night (before you outed yourself ) Didn't realise you were having a rough time with your oh, they've given you some good advice, Custardo is funny though! Don't be afraid to have a rant to us Hope you've had a lovely afternoon with the gang.

How was the P & G Pizza?! Lovely I'm sure, did anyone take any pics?

OP posts:
Diege · 02/02/2006 14:14

Afternoon everyone! Hope the meet went well..mm, bet you had some nice food, those pizzas sound great! .
Driving lesson a bit 'iffy'; kept on forgetting to give way at unmarked junctions, and have been told off for lazy gear changes (ie, not bothering to get up to 4th when I know I'll be stopping at lights in a few yards . I must brush up on the old road signs too (and to think I got 100% on the theory a few years ago - have to retake it now because it's 'expired' .
Down to my last two nappies so time for a shop I think! Just hope the poo-ing slows down for a bour or two!
Speak later,
Diege

Diege · 02/02/2006 14:17

Meant to say hi to chacha too - good to hear from you

Londoner · 02/02/2006 15:28

Hi everyone, Hi ChaCha good to hear you're doing well.

Meet up was great, what a lovely bunch, lets do something again soon! Right, off to get kids from school....

Byee!

BEKsmum · 02/02/2006 16:22

Afternoon girls,

Thanks BOB, Tex & Londoner for a lovely afternoon, I agree we must do it again. Your LO's are all adorable, sorry Thomas was a bit of a whingebag but we'll put it down to the jabs, needless to say he has slept since we left the restaurant!!!

If any of you are shopping in Bromley let me know and pop in for coffee if you fancy it!

Tex, Ben thinks Tobes is great and I'm glad they got on so well.

Chacha glad that everything is ok with you as you can see we were all starting to worry, enjoy spending quality time with Zayn and come back and chat with us when you can.

Right I'm off to watch Deal or No Deal before cooking a chilli for dinner as I didn't get to finish my yummy pizza. Beks

biglips · 02/02/2006 16:25

hiya girls - babyonboard had put a piccy of yous lots on her thread- "must learn how to use my camera"

babyonboard · 02/02/2006 16:27

hi all..

glad its all god chacha..must be easier to get a routine when it's all up to you in the daytime..i found the same when i was left alone even though it was only for two weeks after the birth we hads mums and dads here.

diege..glad driving is going well, i keep meaning to learn but i'm a bit scared to start in london.

i've just posted a pic from this afternoons meet..be warned..it's terrible! maybe better if i emailed it, but i should have known the flash etc wasn't set up right.
ladies and babies and tots

it was lovely, very tasty but far too big pizzas and lovely chat. just wish oskar had been a bit more alert! he should have realised there were babies to flirt with and little boys that wanted to prod him..teehee

i don't know why i made that thread about oh under an alias..and haven't mentioned the problems to you ladies. i guess i didn't want to really admit what a jerk he has been lately. i am however determined to sort it out, i think he's still a it of a 'boy' to be honest, he needs to be told what is and isn't acceptable behaviour.

babyonboard · 02/02/2006 16:54

beks - i really am sure babies know wheh you are eating, they must smell the food and want it themselves. you did an admirable one handed eating job though.

i also love deal or no deal..my mum was off work recently and would call during the breaks saying 'ooh what would you do' lol.
i must admit though, i can't enjoy it so much after reading a sneering article in the guardian that pointed out it's all based on how much drama noel can orchestrate around a game of absolute chance, and that 'the banker' is probably just all in his head..teehee

i wish oskar would wake up and entertain me..it's the big trip in the pram, it always knocks him out..hehehe

BEKsmum · 02/02/2006 17:09

Bob, have just read your other thread, sweetheart why didn't you tell us he was behaving like such a pain, the advice is good in that thread, but don't rush to throw everything away, being a single parent would be a lot worse.

Just make sure you stand up to him and tell him that whatever he does for employment you work a damn sight harder, as you are responsible for Oskar 24/7 365 days a year, you didn't get pregnant on your own and whatever sacrifices he thinks he's made so far are nothing in comparison with the ones you've already made and the ones you'll probably both have to make later in life as Oskar grows up.

If you want to chat just come round for coffee and let rip and perhaps you can join us on our next girls night out.

Thanks for noticing my prowess at one handed eating but as you can tell by the size of my thighs I've had a lot of practice!!!

Right really must go Beks

BEKsmum · 02/02/2006 17:11

But before I go hope Ben & Toby's eager faces peering in at Oskar didn't frighten the life out of the poor little mite!!!

Diege · 02/02/2006 17:20

Sounds like you all had a great time at the meet-up ; have been squinting at picture - yes, it does look a bit like you were attending a rave in one of those 90s hangers .
A good 'deal/no deal' today! I also read the Guardian article about Noel, but he looked so genuine today that my heart melted and I felt stragely protective of him ; I must get out more! .
Well, bathtime for Libby!
Speak later,
Diege.

babyonboard · 02/02/2006 17:20

thanks beks..i will definitly come round for a coffee when i'm on one of my crazy shopping sprees at the glades!
he is being an arse, but my mum helps out, i.e she'll pay £100 or so into my bank and phone to forbid me from spending it on food or nappies. i must stop myself from spoending such money on baby clothes, but it's so much nicer..i mean, i never go into a changing room with clothes for me and think 'aaah how cute' teeheeee..

should have blahed at you guys really, but i couldn't for some reason..i even went so far as not putting my unmistakeable teehhee...'s into that post and said oskar was a diferent age to somehow protect my 'real ' mumsnet i.d, so silly.
