Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Londoner · 07/01/2006 11:12

Oops... hello ChaCha, thought I'd said hello to you! So glad you're back home and that little Zayn is on the mend[smile.

goldenoldie · 07/01/2006 13:55

Forgot who asked about Ezra? - the stronger medicine - Ranitidine, seems to be helping, still sicking up feeds, but no projectile vomiting or convulsions/glazed eyes/vomit out of mouth and nose at same time.

My two still not doing more than 3/4 hours a night - I'm now officially knackered.

Busy - I've still not got my dual electric pump out of box - help!

Diege - Galloway in BB does not do much for the credability of the anti-war movement. Starting to think he is a prize twit. Suspect he will do a Germain Greer and flounce out of the house after a couple of days complaining of the brainless nature of the other housemates.

Kristingle · 07/01/2006 13:59

Yikes Golden - I didnt relaise Ezra was having convulsions!!!!!!

Sympathise about the expressing - i am only managing to express once a day as baby is never off teh breast [sigh]. Have NO IDEA how you manage with 2 ( babies i mean not breasts)

Diege · 07/01/2006 15:51

Afternoon!
Golden: yes, maybe that'S what George has has in mind from the start perhaps?(ie. to stay would be to comrpomise his position poilitically? (like he's not done that already! . Had been surprised when Greer had gone in last time too - what goes through the minds of people like this do you think?
Londoner: very jealous of your trip to cinema ; sounds good fun,and knowing that you're all in the same boat regarding crying/tantrums is priceless and worth going for on its own I would say, regardless of what the film actually is!
Party was good, and had a good chat with other mums there. A mum of twins (and 2 older kids) was telling me she found twins after 2 was easier than first singleton baby. Would you agree Golden ?

goldenoldie · 07/01/2006 15:57

Diege - agree that twins are much less trouble than first singleton baby. More confident in my own mothering abilities now and less anxious about babies 2nd time round.

Kristingle - yes, just looked like he was having a fit when he had the massive vomiting episodes. Don't know if he actually was or not.

Twins should come with an extra set of boobs! DH would be happy..................

novadandypowder · 07/01/2006 19:03

Golden, have been hanging out re: monday, until I sussed what was planned for next week. Now it looks like one of our cats is sick so may end up at the vet on monday, he hasn't eaten for 24 hours which is VERY out of character, so we'll keep an eye on him tomorrow and see if he gets any better.

Had a refresher lesson for the pole dancing today and I HURT!!

goldenoldie · 07/01/2006 19:06

No prob. Nove - just let me know.

Hope cat gets better.

Pole dancing - you brave thing!

Rodeo · 07/01/2006 20:30

Nova, pole dancing you lucky thing! And your dh! I am desperate to get back on the horses but trying to find the time is really hard at the mo, hope you enjoyed geting back to your former self and don't hurt too much tomorrow. Hot bath I think!

Well dp's gone out to a Poker night tonight, so I'm alone, but next door has been DIYing all bloody day and has just picked up his hammer again for a bit more banging! Hoping he'll stop soon as I want to watch a DVD. Have currently got My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Finding Neverland not sure which one I'll choose, what do you think?

Snap Diege, we've been to a soft play party today too! Was quite nice actually because it's been awful weather here.

Poor little Ezra, glad he's doing better - such a lovely name BTW, don't think I've mentioned that before

Londoner, Cinema sounds great! You londoners are really lucky. When it was first mentioned I thought "Cinema? Babies? Prams?" A bit like Peter Kay's "Garlic? Bread? Cheese? Cake?!"

BAM, Hope Alfie's back to his routine tonight, hopefully just a hiccup!

S&Lsmum, did get your text but my phone is playing up. 17th is great, I'll be coming on the bus though so not sure where to suggest. Hmmm I'll have a think on that one

Diege/Twinkle, Did we decide on a date? What about the week starting the 6th Feb?

BEKsmum · 07/01/2006 21:59

Evening girls,

So that's 3 of us who've been to soft play parties today then!!! I got to drive around on the go carts with Ben - great fun, then he got himself stuck at the top of the frame and freaked out, so clung to me for the rest of the session even made me go round with him on the carousel - glad it was short 'cos I got dizzy .

Chacha so glad to hear that Zayn is better, hope he goes from strength to strength now.

Busy sorry to hear Alfies not well, what a nightmare for you and very inconsiderate for your sister - grrr to relatives at times!!

Golden glad the medication is helping poor little Ezra, I was surprised to see what medication he was on though as my dh takes that for his ulcer. I take my hat off to you managing two - I'm finding one a struggle at the moment.

Rodeo classic link, had me in stitches.

Londoner the pictures sounds great but I have to take Ben to pre-school at 12:45 so doubt I could get back in time. I did think about Pizza Express on Tranquil Vale, they're normally pretty child friendly aren't they? Let me know what you think otherwise a walk round Greenwich Park and lunch in the Cafe might be quite nice.

Enthusia is Greenwich too far for you if it is then let me know and we'll come out to see you your way (I take it Godstone Farm will be good for you in the summer too, i think that's on Cads's doorstep)I can always pick Londoner & Elizabeth up and drop them back as long as I'm back for the school run.

I've just watched two minutes of CBB how dull is that programme - oops sorry Nova complete different reaction to you on this one So what side is Curb Your Enthusiasm on then?

Right best go as have left dh with Thomas, he was supposed to be out on a stag do today but was on call for work and got called just before he went out so he had to miss out, so I've been making the most of having him around - I don't think he's that impressed

Hope everyone else is well, enjoy the rest of the weekend Beks

Londoner · 07/01/2006 22:43

Galloway is on BB?! What? Can't believe it...T.Blair next?
Golden, glad Ezra seems to be slightly improved, still sounds like a bit of a mission for you at the mo though...hang in there! Is it poss you might be eligible for one of those young trainee helper people... sorry, kind of obvious I don't know the official term for them...perhaps ask your health visitor, if you want? Think they come in for a few hrs a week to play with/feed/help care for baby under your supervision and guidance... perhaps might be a little help for you?
Diege, you're so right about the cinema trip being enjoyable because you're all in same boat re:feeding/nappy change/baby crying etc....Elizabeth slept all the way through btw, little angel, and only woke up at the end to smile at me! I cannot beleve how totally engrossed in the film i was....isn't it shocking!....when i could have been working so hard doing housework and everything!

nova pole dancing! Wow! Mind Natalie doesn't see you or she'll be vaulting out of that cot before you know it!
Hope your cat gets well soon.
Rodeo, hope your neighbour has called it a day with the diy...what did you watch in the end? Haven't seen either of those...i don't think...
Twinkle..lol at 'industrial baby deafness'....hope you get a break from it this evening...
Beks, lol at you in the soft play party on the carousel...did you let anyone else have a go?
OMG Beks...I LOVE but i mean LOVE Godstone farm! Thankyou! All of the ideas you mentioned sound fantastic to me..... P. Xpress...what a treat....love the park and cafe idea best of all if weather is good, find walking really good for my brain and the cafe after, xcellent....gtg E is attacking my shoulder!

Diege · 07/01/2006 22:49

Off for 11pm feed now..feeling really tired, and just waiting for the lovely sensation of being able to close my eyes and sleep!! Get until about 3/4, so not too bad.
TWINKLE: Remember when we were thinking about Sheffield when we met, to incorporate Rodeo and others? Well...it's the Meadowhall!! I could get the train, and then a bus, but remember you suggesting if I got to yours, we could drive up (down?). Feel really cheeky now ! Would be fine on train if not (no offence taken!).
Oh,and week starting 6th FEb suits me fine too - any day but Wednesday if possible .

ChaCha · 08/01/2006 00:04

Also fan of Greek Wedding movie. I succumbed last night and watched 'Spanglish' - must admit bit of an Adam Sandler fan - movie was fab, and b/f seemed a little less tiring! Have also hired a series of ER. Am I sad?

Well done on the dancing Nova - that's really great! The only pole dancing i'm likely to be doing will involve a sweeping brush - chores never seem to end these days. How much on average do you all pay a cleaner? Not sure if i like the idea but HATE mess.

Agree, Ezra is a beautiful name - lovely meaning.

someone woke up

Diege · 08/01/2006 08:35

Morning everyone! Trying to contain dds from trashing the kitchen, having just removed a snow white saucepan from LIbby's head . DH is having a 'lie in' (for 30 mins) so I can have a bath when LIbby goes up for bath at , rather than OAP wash - anyone else find themselves making deals over rests/sleeps? Always think I come off worse as I'm up in the night (a recurring row!). Hope you had a better night BAM, and are feeling suitably refreshed!
BTW, am not warming to Barrymore at all on BB - seems quite a cold person, and whatbdo you make of JOdie Marsh!! (bitch moment coming up - she actually paid for that nose!!, miaw, miaw..)

Diege · 08/01/2006 08:37

Meant to say 'bath at 9'...yipee, only half an hour till I am clean!

LaylaandSethsmum · 08/01/2006 09:56

Rodeo didn't realise you'd be on the bus so town is fine by me!!!I'll text some suggestions and times.

Londoner · 08/01/2006 11:32

Hi everyone!

ChaCha- how's Zayn now? Are you still managing to bf? Imagine it must have been such a mission to feed baby when he was all 'bunged up' and on a drip/in a strange place? How did you manage?
Don't have a cleaner so can't help you out with advice there... but I do have a messy house at the moment so know how you feel!
Diege, lol at Libby sporting toy saucepan! Did she have that hilarious astonished baby look? Used to have all the sleep bartering with dh with our 1st baby, but never have subsequently.... not much fun if I remember, is it worth explaining the physical exhaustion of pg/childbirth/recovery/feeding combo to your dp again? In the nicest possible way.....
Golden, agree with you that 1st baby=most exhausting... very interesting to hear you agree with this even with subsequent twins, wow!
Dh gone to work today, but it's worth it to prepare ace design presentation for tomorrow.
Busy, tried to CAT you but don't know if I managed.....
Elizabeth didn't go to bed til 2am but slept thru til 10am!

ChaCha · 08/01/2006 12:42

Diege - LOL. Was just thinking about that last night. DS stayed awake from 9pm until 4am - (every time I b/f him I think great, he'll fall asleep now, but no, he'd rather gaze round at the lights and smile away moving his little fingers, kicking his legs and awwwww...could not be grumpy with that little face) however, by 3.30am was exhausted, DH was snoring so kept going in and out of the bedroom especially when DS was whimpering in the hope that he'd wake up but all attempts failed so in the end I woke him up and tried to cut a deal for some sleep . It worked - I got to sleep until 8am (whoppeeee doo) and again from 10 until 12. Guilt tripping works wonders!

Londoner - Hi!!! Thanks for asking again. He's so much better now. Still b/f thankfully and more than i'm used too, seems that he is feeding a lot more to make up for the few days that he was poorly. Hospital stay was tiresome and scary but the room they provided us with was a blessing. Was the best feeling in the world when after a few days they gave him back to me to b/f him again. Never thought i'd say that. It just keeps dawning on me that this is it! No going back and that life will never be the same - when does it eventually hit home? Or should this have happened a long time ago? Bet you wish you hadn't asked now, LOL Thanks xx

Londoner · 08/01/2006 13:19

Hi ChaCha, still think I'm waiting for it to hit home lol! Interesting question. Don't think it does, you just stop asking yourself that question and keep moving, incorporating it into your everyday routine...... giving you that rollercoaster feeling in your chest...... it's addictive though. As soon as I have ever hit level ground have wanted to start again and have had another child.... . Looking at my mum, I can see she is still on the ride, she's always clucking over my two sisters and I, in the nicest possible way.....

Diege · 08/01/2006 13:26

Hi Chacha! Sounds like a bad night. You must be exhausted ; have you tried rolling (well, pushing with force) your DH onto his side when snoring? Works for a while (although I find banishing the red wine a better long term solution .
Londoner: think DH is finally getting the message about tiredness,he took dds (1 and 2) out this morning so I could get some rest, but as you all know even looking after one baby is no rest! Shouldn't whinge I suppose, but to have no children, just for an hour, would be bliss . Yes, Libby had a very strange expression, angry and exasperated, shaking her head from side to side (in a effort to remove I think!).
Here's to a restful day for all of us!
Oh, she's screaning...

goldenoldie · 08/01/2006 13:30

Anyone else still in their PJs? Well, only woke up at 11am!

Becks - doctor recons that medicine is fairly mild and only one step up from Gaviscon. Seems to be working as well.

Londoner - i contacted local college before twins were born to get a nursery nurse student on placement for a bit, but despite my chasing, theynever got back to me.

I have a good friend who is a local HV and any extra help round here goes to 'problem' families, so we don't qualify.

ChaCha - have you started watching the new series of ER on E4?

I pay my cleaner/ironer £6ph. We have lots of local au-pairs who are always looking for extra work, but they don't tend to stay local for very long, seem to change families/living arrangements at an alarming rate.

Diege - agree with you re: Barrymore - can't stand people who spend all their time feeling sorry for themselves/taking drugs. Feel like giving him a slap and telling him to get a grip.

Jodie's nose looks really odd. I would ask for a refund, and what is it with the breaking down and crying all the time? Are we meant to be sympathetic? Pleeseese.................

Diege · 08/01/2006 15:39

Hi Golden ; ooh, sounds like you had a good lie in! Did it follow a bad night? Agree that the BB contestants seem totally self-absorbed; Jodie's crying is weird - what's her problem? (Just realised I sound like a bit of a saddo to actually 'care'!)Am warming to Chantelle though, after initial dislike.

goldenoldie · 08/01/2006 17:31

Diege - no, lie in is normal for me! Last night was the same as usual, boys awake every 3/4 hours for a feed.

Had a friend round with a toddler today - I don't know how you girls with new babies and toddlers do it. Toddler was completly normal and needed to be watched all the time (I don't have a child-frendly home - yet!). Lucky babies were asleep most of the time - except when said toddler decided to try and tip one out of his seat......................
