Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Yes, offer still open to have coffee at my place. Next Monday lunchtime good for me too.

Am I the only one without a cleaner? I sure could do with one!

Londoner - my cleaner has moved to SE london, so only comes to me once a week now (not enough!), and on the weekends, which is a pain. She might be interested in more work over your side of town - do you want me to ask her next time she comes?

I need someone to come and do some ironing once a week - anyone know a cleaner/ironer in N. Ldn?

Londoner · 03/01/2006 18:59

Aww, Golden that's really kind of you........ but I can't stretch to a cleaner at the moment, really glad for you that you've organised one, must be lovely and free you up for more important stuff. If I could, I think I'd love a butler..... they make your meals, iron and lay out your clean clothes for each day, bring you a newspaper, answer the door/telephone and announce guests.... now wouldn't that be great! Londoner you're not the only one without a cleaner do we have such things in SE London!!! I have got a dishwasher though it's called dh

Do any of the SE London mums fancy a meet up soon, I can do Monday or Wednesdays best as Ben is at pre school from 9am till 3:20pm

Right best go as Thomas is yelling and Ben is being a nightmare but he's back to pre-school tomorrow so hopefully normality will return.

Hope you're all enjoying haveing your LO's to yourselves now that the dh/p's have gone back to work.

Monday lunchtime good for me, but I'll probably get a cab over as I don't fancy driving across London with a crying baby in the back - she's good on the motorway but doesn't like the stop start in town.

I think my cleaner lives north-ish, but I know she travels across London to her jobs. She's reliable and trustworthy (the two most important qualities IME) and irons for us, could always pass on a number...?

morning all

well we are back from spain, which was a great success. Sam was excellent on the plane and we had a gorgeous family christmas. we even went out to a chinese for new year, although we did leave at 11 as it was smoky and celebrated new year at mum and dad's villa.

Sam is doing brilliantly and is loving his routine. he wakes at 6 and has a feed, then goes back down til 9, then we dress feed play etc, and then he feeds three hourly until 6 where we have a naked kick about, bath, massage, story and cuddles, then he goes down til 9 when we feed and then he goes down until 6am again!!!!! He is an angel. We too use grobags and they are excellent, we also put a muslin under his head to catch any sick, that is a godsend for the sheets! Sam loves his cot and now hates anything smaller, he has decided he has to sleep with his arm streched straight out at the sides and if anything is in the way there is big trouble!!!!! He looks like he is doing a matrix move in his sleep!!!!He does have a very snotty nose at mo though, but only in the night. I use nasal drops and have tilted his mattress up as a hv once recommended, but has anyone else got any other tips???? Might try the olbas someone mentioned.

Anyway happy new year to everyone, I loved reading your resolutions, one of mine is again to lose weight but that seems to be on most peoples, my other one is to get this deputy job going at my school, have decided that would be a great thing to do!!!!!

ChaCha, know I have already contacted you, but just to say we are thinking of you here!!!!!!!

I would love a meet-up in the south, I'm in Reigate in surrey. We have quite a big lounge here and plenty of parking (road and drive holds about 10 cars) so I'd be happy to hold a coffee morning type thing if anyone one is interested. we are just off junction 8 of the m25.

Right better go and feed this one.

Oh and happy birthday Twinkle. Hope you had a lovely day!!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone . Your trip to Spain sounded wonderful Enthusia - and I am very jealous of the long sleep you are getting with Sam .Libby has gone back to waking about 3ish at night again, having 'slept through' for 4 nights last week. She is genuinely hungry though, some don't mind really (particular;y in light of previous weight concerns).
Very very cold here today, so it'sa cbeebies one and spinder-man cake making here!
Thinking of you Chacha , and hope to hear from you when you get a chance to post.

Morning...

Hope ChaCha and Zayn come home today...... thinking of you...xx
Life is such a rollercoaster.

Beks, am up for a SE London meet, although don't drive so am restricted to london transport destinations.

Loved your holiday post Enthusia.... you seem to be doing the right things for Sam's cold, sorry no other ideas here.

Right, must CAT busy for invite.... and book appt for E's jabs you can tell I'm putting it off right? I hate taking a happy well baby into the clinic only to leave with a stressed-out crying one minutes later...and then waiting for a reaction, dread dread...how do you guys cope?

Morning!

Well it's back to school and playgroup today! It's very quiet but I'm making good use of it watching Phil & Fern.

Yes very here too Enthusia, trip sounds lovely. But if you could refrain from telling all about Sam's great nights

Nice to have you back Londoner, hope you boy has a fab birthday. Sorry to sound ignorant but what is an ear tag? Hope it all goes well anyway, it is worrying to let your child go through surgery, my dd was operated on to correct her squint a couple of years ago, all is well now thankfully.

Also of the meet-ups! May have to make a special trip south when it gets a bit warmer

Oh and did anyone watch Sweeney Todd last night? It was brill!

Right better go, someone has very noisily filled her nappy. Isn't there something very satisfying about a full nappy? No? Is this just me being disgusting?!

Still thinking of you Chacha, hope all is well x x x

Afternoon! Agree, Rodeo, wish I could make the London meet-up too. Me and Twinkle were thinking about another northern one sometime soon, and thought (rightly or not!) that you lived in Sheffield and that we could all meet up in the Meadowhall?? (sp?)Have we got it right, or are we just crazy . Also enjoyed Sweeny Todd last night - lots of blood which upset DH a bit over his quorn cottage pie (wimp).
LOndoner: agree about jabs. Libby has her's on Friday. I know it's all for the best, but agree about dread etc.. and the waiting later on. I also have to have a cholestral test and blood pressure retested, so am going to ask for these to be done first for obvious reasons .

I'm in South Derbyshire Diege, but I'd be up for a trip to Meadowhall soon, that'd be brill Sethandlaylasmum is not too far from me either, so hopefully she could come along too. When do you think? A weekday maybe, in a few weeks? Think my diary is relatively free!

There was a lot of blood especially the 'tongue' bit!! Urgh!

Jess is having a lovely time this morning not having a bro or sis to compete with! I've never seen her so smiley!

Thanks for the welcome back Rodeo, although I did promise myself I wouldn't let this thread dominate my days this year it doesn't look like I'm doing too well does it! Oh, how I love to discuss .....well everything! DD1 has an extra bit sticking out in front of her ear, commonly called a 'tag' (pre-auricular ear tag) it's about 1cm and soft just containing cartiledge(sp?). Quite common apparently. Could not face putting her in for general anaesthetic as a baby purely for cosmetic reasons and she was pretty posessive about it through her toddler years, but all of a sudden it's causing her quite a bit of distress, kids at school too curious, someone making a mean comment, and she now wants it off asap.... Thankfully the wait shouldn't be more than a few weeks. DS1 birthday should be a challenge, he still hasn't told me how he wants to celebrate, each suggestion from me gets the politely raised eyebrow and smile, I am officially uncool now(he he). Think he's hoping I'll suggest a house party with all his friends while the rest of the family go away for the weekend. No way...... Glad you're thinking of coming to a London meet.
Diege, thanks for the empathy re: jabs, I feel renewed confidence to ring up and book it now(smile). Would be great to meet you and Rodeo if you came to a london meet.(smile). Why the cholesterol and blood pressure tests? Or am I being dense, have you mentioned it already.... (I have likened my memory to that of a goldfish recently...)
GTG can hear squawks upstairs...........

Rodeo - yes a meet-up would be great hopefully in a few weeks, although I will try and coordinate something with Twinkle (if that is still ok with her!), as I am reliant on public transport , being a non-driver. At a push I could take the train though, and I would certainly give it a go rather than miss out! Generally any day is ok, apart from Wednesdays, though I would of course need to check specific dates. That reminds me, driving lesson tommorrow - for some reason they really stress me out, although as with most things I'm ok (ish) when they start (until I see a roundabout!).
Londoner: thanks for your concern - no, I haven't really mentioned high blood pressure etc before. My problem is that I have a family history of stroke, and my mum (age 52) had a stroke last xmas (she's fully recovered) that was directly linked to her high cholestral (11!) and blood pressure. As I am not on paper high risk (not overweight, non-smoker,non-drinker, vegetarian, walk a lot etc) they are concerned that my high bllod pressure and associated risks may be familial. Hence the cholestral test! Not too worried (though not too happy about fasting pre-test!), but need to keep an eye on things.
I can hearv swarks too! She has not been keeping up with the Gina book!

Morning all,

Enthusia sounds like you had a great time I'm very of you!!! Not sure if this helps you but my mum was saying last night that Monarch do really cheap flights to Granada at the moment from either Gatwick or Stanstead not sure which, need to check it out myself but apparently one of their friends paid £58 for two seats - how cool is that.

Diege & Londoner can emphasise with you regarding the jabs I hate them too, but one solution we found last time was to take someone with you to hold the baby for you whilst the jabs were given, then you take them back and comfort them & they settle a lot quicker as they don't get the stressed out vibes from you. It definitely works as I took Thomas on my own for his 1st set & he was not a happy bunny to say the least, so will
definitely be roping in some assistance for the next lot.

Londoner I'm only in Bromley so can easily come to Greenwich if yu can suggest somewhere child friendly ,but if that's too far from Enthusia I'd be happy to pick you and Elizabeth up & take you to whereever. Once we've devided on a day I'll cat Tex as I know she's in Blackheath any one else you can think of?

Right best go as Thomas hafallen asleep in my arms after playing for a while, i think he must be having a growth spurt as all he seems to do at the moment is sleep - not that i'm complaining

Diege & Rodeo if you do manage to come South let me know as i'd definitely be up for a meet up, i would say i'll come north to see you but i've been trying to get up to Leeds to see friends who we last saw when Ben was 8 weeks old & he's now nearly 4 so i can't see it happening really can you!

Right ladies, those of you who fancy a coffee/chat at my place on Monday lunchtime. CAT me and I will send you my address and phone number.

Had a hetic morning. Went back to GP to review Ezra's reflux, GP sufficiently alarmed to ring the peadiatric casualty of local hospital and send us straight there. Some concern that Ezra might have Pyloric Stenosis (?) - some tightening of muscle between stomach and intestine (?).

Ezra seen by peadiatrician who thought it probably is reflux and have given us some stonger medicine to help him keep feeds down.

Boys were meant to have first lot of vaccinations and 8 week check-up today, but it will have to wait till next week now.

Any news from ChaCha?

JenJam - thanks for your call. I've misplaced your number - can you CAT it to me? Your cleaner is a bit pricey for me - I only pay £6.00ph for mine.

Thanks for the message Enthusia ; relieved to hear that Zayn is home.
Golden: what an alarming morning for you! Glad Ezra is OK, and hope the new medicine works. You must be so tired with twins, and the reflux too - I keep on forgetting you have two! Good going with the sales ; I went a bit mad at the Oilily sale (50% off!), but my best bargains were to be had at good old Boots, getting some really cute OshKosh stuff and mini-mode too . I have to admit that my weakness is childrens' clothes - it's where my spare money (err, and the bank's) goes! Husband goes mad (and I can sympathise, but I can't stop!) - he said that before he had kids he assumed you could just wrap babies in towels and blankets , and that no clothes were required (other than vests). Now he's seen the other extreme!
BTW, had a very, very bad mummy moment this afternoon that I feel awful about. Was trying to cut Libby's fingernails with clippers, as her face is becoming really scratched. You've guessed it, I nipped her finger by accident and boy there was so much blood I really started to panic ; ; nothing to rival Sweeny Todd of course, but slighly panicky!! Not helped by dd2 exclaiming...'shall we take her to hospital', and 'can I see the bloody hand?'. She's absolutely fine (no obvious sore bit),but I keep seeing the bloodied kitchen roll in the bin and feel very bad .
BTW (last one); keep on having a wild impulse to get on the train (with baby!) and come to one of the southern meets ;mad I know, but it's only 2.5 hours on the train. It's something I might build up to, and try before I go back to work, but I warn you it would have to be LOndon Euston area as my sense of direction is awful (as Twinkle will testify!). Just a thought - am I totally mad, or is this do-able??!!
Gping to gorge myself on OK! and Now! (did 'Heat' yesterday);magazines are another addiction!)
