Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Oh I tell you what else really gets to me about HVs too - Where I get mine weighed they always say 'Are you breastfeeding?' It's awful to hear a mum apologetically say "well no, actually I'm bottle feeding' with sadness in their voice WTH?? WHY do they need to ask? If a baby's putting on weight as it should why do they need to ask this guilt ridden question???

Right, I'm going to be late.....

Rodeo it was great to meet you too! Glad you didn't think I was a lunatic or anything then ( wonder what your DP will think!!). See you soon

LaylaandSethsmum · 17/01/2006 13:58

And Enthusia I agree with everyone else a happy bottle feeding mum is much better for Sam than a miserable breast feeding one!!

Diege · 17/01/2006 14:28

Too late, the cellophane is off!!! Actually did the warm up (to the 'Pacha' dance dvd, ha ha..)but was disturbed mid-way by Libby's cries from upstairs. I have never been more grateful to hear a baby cry! .

twinkle1 · 17/01/2006 14:58

Diege
R we meeting enthusia???? my pc is acting up arghhhhhh let me know details i would love to come
twinkle

novadandypowder · 17/01/2006 15:21

Rodeo - you should have seen 70 of us at the xmas meet calling each other by MN names. It's the only time I've walked into a room and been asked 'are you Custardo?' and thought it perfectly normal. Also, when I met a couple of MNers before xmas one said 'i'm Queen Victoria' and then looked around realising how that would sound to everyone else .

Went to mother & baby yoga today - free thanks to Surestart. It was great, if a little chaotic at times. There was one exercise where you roll your baby down your legs, and every baby started to cry! I shall def. be going back next week.

Diege · 17/01/2006 17:00

Twinkle! Good to hear from you! I am meeting Enthusia in Warrington tommorrow (have provisionally arranged to meet at foyer of Village hotel at 12 noon, then back to mine for lunch) You are MORE than welcome. ALSO, we sort of assumed you may want to meet in Manchester on the Friday, so I was going to come along to that too, providing I was invited! I think Enthusia has been trying to CAT you?
LOL Nova at babies crying at the yoga - sounds good fun!

Diege · 17/01/2006 17:59

Twinkle! Yes, Enthusia is here till Friday. I don't have her mibile number, but she will be able to contact you to confirm arrangements . My home number is 01925 860032, if it helps, so that I could let you know the arrangements if you can't reach her, or her you (ooh, it's getting complicated again .
Looking forward to seeing you on Friday (hopefully!), and yes, excited about Feb 10th too!

ChaCha · 17/01/2006 18:51

Sorry, I don't mean to be funny but perhaps you should all CAT each other with mobile/landline numbers. Anyone can access this thread. Sorry if i sound OTT.

Well, the good news is He has put 100g on since we were weighed last Thursday I am sooooo chuffed! That means the b/f has been going well and I can relax a little now, though still have to stick to the every two hours (yawn). I will give him a topup after each feed if i still feel he is hungry. Dr. said try eating more, drinking more liquids and getting plenty of rest before considering the goats formula. We shall see!!

Thanks for listening. A very happy chacha xx

Diege · 17/01/2006 19:36

You're not being OTT Chacha - you're right, it is a bit dodgy, but I don't have e-mail access at home at the moment, so am throwing caution to the wind!
Congrats on weight gain ; wow, what a relief for you, and nice to know the BF is going well. I'm pleased too, as Libby is back up to the 50th percentile, having dropped to 25th at last weigh-in .
BTW, caught a glimpse of the tabloids this afternoon, and seems like Chantelle and Preston have finally done the dirty deed (she said something like 'where do you want your 10 birthday kisses? [being sick emotion!!]Sorry if TMI over dinners!

KristinaM · 17/01/2006 21:13

hi all, thnanks for your good wishes, sorry i am always in a rush, feeding baby one handed at the moment.

just to say, diege & twinkle, if you dont have email at home or you have problems with it you can set up an online email account eg hotmail or yahoo and use that. if you are able to access mumsnets you shoudl be able to do that. then you just have to change your mumsnet details to the online account.

like chacha I am paranoid and really worried about you putting your home phone nos online. Please please contact tech and ask to have the posts deleted. Sorry if i am really bossy and sound like your mum

ok must go baby thinks he is starving to death

KristinaM · 17/01/2006 21:14

sorry forgot to say well done chacha on that chubby baby

mummypinny · 17/01/2006 21:59

I am new to mumsnet so thought I would say hello. I have two babies - twins and they are 11 weeks old.

beartime · 17/01/2006 22:03

Hi everyone, I'm not going to even try and read all the posts! I'm in California now at a house where we have easy internet access so am going to try and communicate again, i do miss talking about all my problems Not that I have that many really

So far travelling has been really good - nap time is a bit dodgy, I have to really keep track of when he sleeps and how long so he doesn't get too much sleep. Bfing seems fine, and tho I haven't weighed him since I left, he seems to be filling out his clothes and smiling constantly so I figure it must be OK!

Anyway hope everyone's OK.

Kristina - where's your birth story? I tried looking for it to find out what happened in the end and couldn't see anything. I guess it went OK tho cos you're here and have a baby!

Oh and I lost my nappy nippas somewhere so I've ended up using disposables and having leaks, even with the waterproof wrap but at least I don't have to wash them!

Londoner, what do you do for liners?

Diege · 17/01/2006 22:12

Hi Kristina - yes, you're right, I need to get the post removed. I've tried to contact mumsnet team/tech, but have to specify my incoming and outcoming mail servers for the e-mail to be sent - doesn's mean a thing to me I'm afraid. Feel very stupid on both accounts . Anyone enlighten me on what I should be putting in the boxes? (will have to use my work e-mail address and hope they don't 'spam' it!). Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!

tessasmum · 17/01/2006 22:41

Welcome Mummypinny - the second set of November twins. Are they your 1st and 2nd or have you had a baby or two to practice on before? My mum always wanted a practice baby then twins and its exactly what she got - I was the practice one

Welcome back Beartime, we've missed you. Sounds like all is going really well. Congratulations on keeping the bf going whilst moving about - more convenient in the long-run but hard going to start with.

Enthusia - Ash weighed in at 14lbs 6 1/2oz this afternoon (though probably weighs more by now ), how does that compare (rather than 'compere' as I wrote before )

ChaCha - well done on Zayn's weight gain, hope it has taken the pressure off. I'm with you on BB, never liked it, rather watch paint dry

Rubbish night's sleep last night so are hoping for better things tonight. Its soooooo hard being woken up again after a week of Ash sleeping through He's currently in bed with Daddy, making gooey eyes at each other, so we'll see.

Night night all

KristinaM · 17/01/2006 22:46

diege - dont use your work email. They will spam it. and it probably isnt allowed. Just set up a new email account for mumsnet. Do it now online at hotmail or yahoo or somewhere like that. its free. then your new account will be diege 876 or whatever at yahoo dot co dot uk or smiliar. and your mail server will be yahoo dot co dot uk. except without the spaces. does this make sense?

BTW you are not stupid. we have quite a level of trust here on this thread i think. its easy to forget that others can read it.

Busyalexsmummy · 17/01/2006 23:54

S*! how many posts ive missed!

novadandypowder-ive got the graco swinging chair, bought it off ebay for £25 when pg with Alex, brilliant buy as it lasted Alex till about 11 months and Alfie is getting into more and more now

rodeo-The swinging chair has to be kept in our bedroom between 8am-7pm though as ds1 will either swing ds2 so hard he starts crying or get in it himself!

chacha-the electric pumps are good, i think i may have missed something, why are you hiring a pump?sorry just read the post lower down, whats wrong with his weight? (sorry dont mean to sound rude/nosey, just havent been online for a few days and have only "skim" read the posts ive missed)

Enthusia-You must do whats right for you my love, Bs to the HV saying you'll make sam fat- B, you may find he gains a bit more now than if exclusively bf, but dont fret, as he starts to become more mobile-crawling/sitting/standing/walking, he'll burn it off and all babies start to lose some of their baby fat at that stage(unless their being overfed solids*) your doing great!!!
ps-alex was exclusively bottlefed, and is now almost 2 and a very happy, healthy, slim , active toddler! xx

londoner-pop in if your ever down for glasto again!

kristina-have you got your cosatto yet? im having suspension problems!

Hv came yesterday, Alfie is now 10lb! hahaha the novelty! alex was 12lb by 7 wks! he was 10lb at 3 weeks! LOL! still continuing with top-up bottles- 4oz@10pm and 3oz@midnight(dreamfeed) this is working really well

Alf's smiling now, but is really tight with his smiles and often smiles at random things instead of us!-caught him smiling at the radiator when changing him in MIL's hallway!?

Am feeling a bit sad that i cant find the time to come on here as much, its taken 3/4hr to catch up since my last post! i miss chatting regulary and feel the longer i leave it between posts, the more stuff i miss and the more estranged from the thread i become!-sad i know!

at the moment i feel like im being stretched to full capability, trying to look after a 23 month old+7 wk old/look after house/practice theory ready to take exam/driving lessons/preperation for going back to college etc etc etc.....urrgghh! [tired emoticon]

ps, hi to everyone, sorry i havent mentioned everyone but its taken ages to catch up! hope everyone+LO's are well xx

well best go get bottle ready for dreamfeed, night all xxx

Liz, Alex & Alfie-7wks

Busyalexsmummy · 17/01/2006 23:56

ps, anyone else feel 10yrs older? I feel 30 most days!

BEKsmum · 18/01/2006 08:27

Hi ya Busy, nice to see you back, don't worry about feeling estranged we know it's hard to get on and chat but we are thinking of you, just jump in where you can, we'll soon let you know if you've missed anything really important andby the way if you feel 30 that must mean I'm feeling 40!!!

Welcome aboard Mummypinny, congratulatons on your twins, you don't say whether they are boys or girls or one of each? Hope you find our chatter interesting we're a friendly lot!!!

Chacha well done on Zayn's weight gain good for you.

Enthusia have a good trip, hope you gave the HV hell yesterday. Let me know if you fancy a meet up around your way as I can get there easily from mine.

Good to hear from you beartime, I'm confused I take it your travelling around I must have missed that bit sorry, hope you're having a good time.

Is it me or is anyone else having trouble remembering things & keeping their minds on conversations - I made a complete plank of myself when I met Jenjam this week as I hadn't remembered some really important stuff about her and Finn and then i found i'd smile or respond in someway and she's look at me like I was mad and I'd realise I had either miss heard her or been distracted - sorry Jen I'm not normally as daft as i probably appeared this week!!!.

Right got to go and take ds1 to pre-school and ds2 is crying, speak to you all later. Beks

Diege · 18/01/2006 09:50

Morning everyone! Welcome Mummypinny, and nice to hear from Beartime and BAM Thanks again Kristina! Have had to confess all to DH (you don't want to know!), so he'll be helping me to set up new e-mail etc.
LOL Beksmum at your lapses . I'm sure Jenjam didn;t mind! I find myself doing this too, say when |I'm in a cafe with a friend and all 3 children. I also do it when I just have dd3 with me too sometimes, probably due to tiredness (I hope!).
Looking forward to my meet-up with Enthusia today . Don't worry Twinkle, we will contact you about Friday! - between the 3 of us we certainly have enough contact nos .
