D when my mum and dad were buying a house, the vendor pulled out as they were sitting in the solicitors office waiting to sign the contracts Angry. Really feel for you xx

That's how A started from sitting Grin

byronicheroine · 26/10/2011 14:02

delia that really sucks, I have a couple of weeks worth of dirty nappies outside my house if you want me to drop them over to her?!

So, yes, strikes still on. Apparently it's not the bin men it's the landfill site opperators (obviously!) and they are starting to clear up. Not our street yet tho needto I'm in Athens :)

wiggles sure I'll find something I fancy doing.... ;)

reastie I too have a mooncup which I got on with pretty well 'before' think I might need a larger one now but my periods haven't come back yet. I'm dreading it. please dint let me be pregnant

and nosyo I mean ponyo I studied marine biology and got a drinkers degree Grin bloody enjoyed it tho. I'm thinking about some sort of science in the media/science communication course as I've done a bit of teaching and a bit of writing and editing since uni

NeedToCreepZZZ · 26/10/2011 14:59

d that's just awful, so sorry. Some people clearly have no brains, have a Wine or two on me.

Byron I thought you'd done English lit because of your nn Grin. I had to poas last week as I was a week late and oh and I had dtd once (with condoms and, ahem, withdrawal) since having the mirena out and I was so scared. I think the reason so many of us are having problems with tampons is our bodies saying no entry Wink ledkr

My lovely DM now has the nasty bug, she woke up with it at half three this morning, feel so Sad for her as she's been our saviour the last 5 days, want to do something nice for her but not sure what as she'll no doubt be bed bound till the weekend now, any ideas? Only thing I could think of is to go and do a full house clean and stock her fridge with lovely fruit juice for now and wine when she's better.

chocoroo · 26/10/2011 15:41

Afternoon all,

Gosh, busy day or so on here, I wasn't even aware I hadn't been on and you've all been chatting away!

deb The MAC is short for Midlands Art Centre which is the cafe. It's signposted and everyone knows what it is if you need to ask for directions. I will recognise you easily as I expect you will be wearing a big Slimmer Of The Month badge!

reastie Well done for talking to Dr. Make sure you call that HV ASAP and start your tablets. You might keep feeling rubbish for a while but it's so good that you're taking the right steps :)

needto There're so many bugs doing the rounds at the mo, I have a fiend who's had norovirus twice in a month! I think I have the same thing as wiggles I have all the same symptoms and so does DP. I'm defo blaming back to work itis too!

byron Am well jel of you doing an OU course. I already have two degrees so I don't think I can justify another but I'd love to do some studying again. I'm a big geek! I should admit that mine are both drinkers degrees too Grin

delia I am aghast at your house swapee. It's just so unfair and always ends up costing money, not to mention the emotional side of it. I really think we need a different system in this country. You should definitely come and join our meet up -I will buy you a Wine

ledkr Sending lots of in-mumsnetty hugs for D's appointment. We'll be with you every step of the way. And can we please all have less period talk - you are all stooping to ledkr's standards!!! Grin

tad -10. in October. WTF do you wear?!

jane So sorry about your SM. I hope you have a lovely day trying on your dress.

american Loads of people now keep calling me Mrs DP's Surname. I immediately correct them - if he can't come up with a diamond I am Mrs Nobody!

40 I am jealous of your teeth. Mine are still wonky despite a brace! I'm not sure what I can say about myself that's good. I'm good at my job, and I'm a funny loyal friend but I'm not sure lookswise I'm happy with anything at the mo.

Right. I have an hour to myself as DP has stayed home as he is so Ill (so am I but I have too much to do!) I've earmarked the lounge to tidy and clean so wish me luck.....

janedoe25 · 26/10/2011 16:11

delia thats shit about the house move, I think you should take byron up on her offer!

ledkr I hope dilly's appointment went well. It is understandable that you are so scared about D's op, I will be here every step of the way holding your hand.

Booo to those of you who are ill, hope you all feel better soon. here have some Thanks

americanexpat · 26/10/2011 16:36

Delia - I am Angry on your behalf. Is this the woman who put a letter through your door suggesting the swap? There's really no excuse for pulling out at this point unless she's had a major life change.

reastie - I actually have a Divacup (brought it with me when we moved) and I absolutely love(d) the thing. I only needed to empty it 2-3 times/day so never had to bother with it at work. I think I may need the bigger size now too.

needto - glad you're feeling better. Stock your mum's house with clear liquids and some easy to eat foods if she feels up to it. Maybe offer to give everything a scrubbing when she's feeling better?

jane - happy anniversary to your and your soon-to-be DH! It's wonderful that your MIL is going with you this weekend.

L's 6th tooth has come through (4 on the top, 2 on the bottom). How long should it take for a tooth to fully come through? All 6 are visible but not fully up yet. The bottom 2 popped through 6 and 3 weeks ago.

reastie · 26/10/2011 16:54

american never heard of a Divacup before Hmm . Is that an american thing I wonder. I certainly love the idea of not worrying about such matters when at work or at night. I'll have to look into checking if it's OK with a coil.

delia Angry for you - did she even give a reason? Why leave it till last min?

needto I know I'd certainly be v grateful if someone cleaned my house and stocked up my fridge. Can you make her things like homemade soup for her when she feels up to it to help her get better Glad you're feeling better though. How is Ben? Hope he doesn't get it.

ledkr forgot to say before but well done on the weight loss Grin . Hope hosp apt is all OK - I guess it's all going to be a worry until it's over with stupid NHS postponing it

had a great day at cambridge thanks. Was driven insane by the sing and sign CD which was the only thing to keep alice quiet in the car though. Sister reastie is well and has a lovely room there. I even managed a trip to bravissimo to get a new feeding bra Grin

Alice currently creating havoc and ripping apart some magazine of DHs just as well it's not mine . I've got to the stage as so long as she's quiet, safe, busy and having a good time I just leave her to it Shock

NeedToCreepZZZ · 26/10/2011 17:57

reastie glad you had a good day, I know what you mean about the singing and signing thing, it's the only thing apart from countdown that keeps Ben quiet and I'm with you on the whatever keeps them occupied thing

Jane thank you for the Thanks, do you have a new plan for the dress fitting?

American not sure if b's bottom ones are completely through but I think so and it took about 3 weeks I think. Wow to 6 teeth! Smile

I have made a complete bit of a mess with the clocks going back Shock. we've been putting b to bed half an hour earlier since the weekend then realised today it should be later Angry. trying to keep him awake till quarter past six tonight, not great. I'm so stupid!
Will definitely do the house clean thing then, thank you for your thoughts!

janedoe25 · 26/10/2011 18:34

thanks american No idea about the tooth question Confused

reastie I'm glad you had a nice day.

needto I hope Ben is ok with the time change. My mil is comming with me to dress fitting.

Emski76 · 26/10/2011 19:44

Hey all,
Delia, I'm shocked at the lady pulling out of your housemove at the last minute, I'd be beside myself! You seem to be taking it as well as can be expected. Did she give a reason?

Ledkr, what date is D's op? As the others have said we will all be here for you before, during and after.

Wow to Need to being do poorly, I'm pleased your better.

American, wow to all those teeth! That's pretty impressive!

I'm definitely it's the 'as long as their happy leave them be' camp of baby's. Noah is constantly pulling himself up on anything he can, including my hair!
He got on really well again at nursery today, but has got such a bad cold it's even gone down to his chest poor thing. We've dosed him up so fingers crossed he'll sleep well.

Need to, I couldn't help but have a little giggle at your clocks error! Dh and I were trying to work out the difference earlier but aren't going to change the boys bedtime as its too confusing. Ben never seemed to be affected by it so hopefully Noah will be the same.

Dh and I had a good day shopping. I bought a cardigan, jumper dress and cut offs for next summer from FatFace, dh came home with nothing!! We're not that into labels so going to a retail outlet doesn't really do it much for us!

WeAreBorg · 26/10/2011 19:51

Evening Peeps,

Have been on a course the past couple of days so sorry for lack of postage. I had my first full day away from N (yes that is probably slightly pathetic at 8mo), massive cuddles from him when I got home and lots of love bites off him, then he pawed at my face and kept looking up at me and smiling for ages. He's sooo lovely. Sorry for ramble, I just missed him Smile

DH has gone off to South Africa for a wedding Envy. No other news from me

reastie sorry to butt in but I don't think seroxat is a recommended med for BF (or at least not the safest one), it should be sertraline or imipramine. If you didn't think it helped last time it seems a random choice, it also has the worst side effects of that type of medication. Did you manage to see HV?

american I remember having a wisdom tooth that took about 2 years to come through if that's any help? Probably not. I like that you have something called a divacup. Still no periods here!!!!!!

needto annoying but slightly funny re the clocks

granny hope your N has recovered from his adventure. My N is weirdly still on the chest of drawers that I probably very unsafely use to change him on, but if I change him on the floor he is gone by the time I've got a nappy

choc 2 degrees! Cleverpod.

delia how awful, I'd be devastated , it's such a pain, totally sympathise and agree with t**ds through letterbox.

jane what happened with mums shopping trip?

ILovePonyo · 26/10/2011 20:10

Hi all, well dd woke at 2am last night and was just awake Confused I wasn't too grumpy with her though as she let me cuddle her and did say 'bah' to me when I said it to her, cute. This random waking is not making me feel good about the clocks changing though - Grin at Needto, oops!

byronic I too have a drinkers degree but would like to study marine biology, although I imagine it to be lots of shark and whale geekery, I'd love that! I'm wrong though aren't I. Science and media sounds interesting though - go for it!

delia that is so shite about the house, some sort of karma has to come back around on that woman doesn't it?! I have been spending hours on rightmove recently looking for a nice house to move to, not that ours is on the market or anything Hmm

tad what is the temp in your house if its -10 outside? Brr. I also want to know what you are wearing, thermals I imagine!

Borg that sounds so cute about N, aww! Was your course good? lucky old dh going to South Africa for a wedding Shock

reastie sounds like you had a nice day. I would let A rip up magazines but she chews them and then swallows loads of paper Hmm

Hi everyone else, hope we all have a sleepy night :)

MizK · 26/10/2011 20:12

Hi all, am dying of halftermitis - had 3 additional sprogs at mine today, last one only just left. DP is out tonight watching liverpool so one-woman hellish clearup operation has only just finished, waaa! I had the genius idea of letting them all make their own pizzas, so there are bits of bread dough in my hair still I fear. Gaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!
delia so gutted for you re idiot woman ruining your move. dckhead. If I wasn't such a grown up laydee I would recommend the Sharon Osbourne approach of trds in a Tiffany box :)
granny glad your little one was OK after his bump, they are made of tough stuff these babies!
*needto :) this is all. No wait, :) :) :)
urgh all this talk of various 'cups' is making my legs go wobbly, v squeamish here, periods are strictly referred to as Ladies Week and Not Spoken Of In Detail. Dreading DD1 starting hers, I'll have to devise a code for Tampax just as my DM did for me :)
ledkr very sympathetic re D's op, must be so scary. At least it's going to be over and done with soon-ish, rather than it being years away if that makes sense, less time to dread it. She will be fine, she looks such a little cutie in your pics :) and she will be far less upset by the whole thing than you will be. Sorry if no help, thankfully not been in your position but very much hoping you are OK.
borg you big wuss, no not really, its sweet that you missed him so much and sounds like it was mutual!

WeAreBorg · 26/10/2011 20:52

Forgot to say....
ledkr thinking of you and Dilly, she will be great, you're both really brave.
byron ooh let us know what you do, I'm one of these that starts things with great enthusiasm then after about 2 weeks remembers I hate doing any work. Marine biology sounds so interesting though, don't you want to do anything with that? Or is it not poss in Greece?
mizk I will be using Ladies Week from now on I like it Grin
reastie sorry was thinking that my above post was not helpful at all, I'm sure you're GP is doing what she thinks is best. Don't listen to people on the internet Smile

ledkr · 26/10/2011 21:35

My mental friend from Ibiza is on c 5 at the mo with Paul Merton.

ledkr · 26/10/2011 21:42

Anyway Hello all. Thanks so much for all the kind words,i was welling up when i read them. Well it was ok.Dilly enjoyed the attention. They explained the op,about 3 hrs and quite painfull Sad cos of the muscles they join. Pain relief very good tho.I can be with her till she sleeps then they will get me when she is waking up so i can be there.Dh will be with us too. The ward is nice and there is a lovely playroom. They normally have a bottle soon after the op and may even eat some food a few hrs later. Some really cry and some just cuddle. Its the 16th not the 14th our mistake.
She poohed in the bath for the 3rd night for dh Grin
Ill be back tomorrow im in bed, been a long day.

Four4me · 26/10/2011 21:48

Delia what a bloody nightmare.

reastie hope you are ok, glad the gp was kinda helpful.

Hope Dilly's pre-op went well ledkr ?

Archie is almost crawling, he is getting onto all fours and then rocking. God help me not another one trashing the house this half term! I keep sitting him back on his bottom saying 'no thank you darling, sit still!!!!!'

Poor Thomas is still got a bad ear infection, they are talking about taking out a grommet out. He is on his fifth bottle of antibiotics and now some drops again.

If I don't get on again before Friday I hope you all have a great meet up. Wish one of you were near Yorkshire for coffee in the park here!!!!!!

reastie · 26/10/2011 21:48

nutters I woke alice up while madly searching for the remote to see ledkrs friend. Think I missed her now - just a man and some horses on Angry

ponyo speaking of night wakings......

borg v interesting re: drugs. Tbh I don't think she was clued up re: which ones for bfing - she kept looking up drugs in her book and moaning they wern't suitable (which is when she asked if I would bf for much longer and looked annoyed when I said yes). And to be fair to her I told I her couldn't swallow tablets ( Blush ) so either could I have one in liquid or I would just chew a regular tablet. But I did find it odd she chose this one when I didn't have much success on it in the past.

choc I forgot to congratulate you on 2 degrees - brainiac Wink

I had a hoodie on this evening to keep warm and when alice saw me she kept giving me these odd looks - like she couldn't work out who I was when I had the hood up it's cold here don't you know

Four4me · 26/10/2011 21:49

Sorry x post ledkr

reastie · 26/10/2011 21:51

ledkr is your friend one of these naked ones? Wink

WeAreBorg · 26/10/2011 22:10

ledkr well will keep the 16th in mind, it's good that they told you everything thoroughly. She'll be great with the pain relief, she sounds like she's a real stoic what with all the reflux and everything. She'll prob just wonder why everybody's fussing.

44me perhaps us northern ones (it's way colder here reastie we're near the north pole) could have a meet up????

Missed the naked friend, too busy admiring the wonderful David Attenborough, he's my hero.

tadjennyp · 26/10/2011 22:13

So glad Dilly's hosp appt went well for you ledkr. Will be keeping you company on the day too.

I hope Thomas gets better soon four4 - that sounds horrendous for him and you. Yay to Archie being in the position though!

So sorry about your house Delia. I've been in some protracted chains before, but that's just a horrid thing to put you through.

Needto you made me check when the clocks go back here - a whole week after yours, so we will only be 7 hours behind for a change!

Borg, not pathetic at all. Still haven't left S for more than a few hours as I don't have anyone to leave him with! What was your course? [nosy emoticon]

MizK - not surprised you are tired. It's a long term for the kids and even the break in the middle doesn't refresh them quite enough, I don't think. Well done for taking in extra.

Ponyo - we don't usually have the heating on overnight as it's forced air and noisy. If it gets below 8C in the house it tends to set off the smoke alarms due to condensation. Blush Tis lovely and sunny in the day though and about 10 - 13C. Still make the dcs go to the park in it!

Reastie - do you feel better for having been prescribed something and a medical professional diagnosing you? My MIL swears that just having been to the doctor lifted her PND. Didn't work for me, unfortunately, and she never asked me how I was. [shouldn't still be bitter emoticon]

This is getting to be an essay so will wave at everyone else, esp. Jane, wiggles, choco, emski, byron and american. I have read your posts, just want to stop now! Grin Blush

Grannyapple · 26/10/2011 22:19

Evening folks..thx for kind words re N, he's just fine, tho I was awake since 5 willing him to wake up this morning! I've gone from feeling fairly confident about going back to work to having a few wobbles as a result of his tumble! But nothing I can do about so just need to get on with it I guess. Not amused, went shopping for work clothes whilst N was in nursery today & annoyed at my figure & shape I am now...need to work harder at the gym/ running me thinks! (nothing of course to do with all the crap I eat during the day).

borg N sounds so sweet, trying to eat your face!

ledkr glad pre op appt went well & has hopefully allayed some of ur concerns...we'll all be here for u when u need some hand holding.

Hoping not, but think I may have the lurgy about to hit us...feel a bit Eugh, & swollen glandy Sad

tadjennyp · 27/10/2011 00:05

Glad N has been fine Granny. I once tripped over a curb holding E as a baby and landed on the driveway, his head hitting it. Fortunately he was wearing two hoods and my hand was scuffed up so I must have been holding his head when we hit the ground, but I was hysterical. He has been fine though! I am sure you will be fine when you go back to work. Hope you don't come down with the lurgy.

janedoe25 · 27/10/2011 07:35

Morning girls Grin.

tad Shock at the cold setting of smoke alarms! Gosh you must have been so frightened about your fall!

granny I'm glad N is fine, it is understanable you are nervous about starting back work it is a big thing. In my experience with minding babies they all have settled in very well and taken to new routines easily, it's the parents that cause me the hassel! The Mum of the baby I have now must text me every half hour or so!

borg Attenborough can't be your hero because he is mine. Frozen planet was amazing.

I am housebound today (except for school run) df has me waiting in for a parcel to be collected. Boooo
