Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

Hi Minky, pleased to make your acquaintance! Hope you catch up on some zzzzs overnight...

Lo's been up at 12:30 and 3:30, first time back down in an hour, this time I'm just waiting to see if he wakes again. Tried feeding in bed yesterday but unfortunately couldn't get the angles right so ended up with my sciatica issue flaring up. Think I'm going to have to stick with sitting in a chair to feed! Oh God I feel so old since the birth, I'm still under 30 (just!) but feel like my body is crumbling! I am desperately hoping that it gets better!

Santageekmum · 12/12/2011 04:44

Just did my first nn change! Hurrah!

snowysebs · 12/12/2011 09:33

Seems that all our 12 to 14 week old babies are not doing too well at night all of a sudden. Mine won't settle after the middle of night feed now... Back to 4 hours sleep... Yawn, rubs eyes...

Yay to Santa geek name change! Xmas Grin and Know how you feel... I shuffle to loo at night, aching all over, back playing up... Etc etc... But then I'm a 40 year old first time mum!!

Knew little mix would win - not that I really cared about result!! DSS annoyed but DSD happy with result!!

Brother seems a bit better - coming home next Monday till wednesday so dad and I can have good chat with him.

Best go got loads to do today and LO crying out...

falalalalagirl · 12/12/2011 16:06

It was around this time with DS that he went from being a bad sleeper to being absolutely bloody impossible so I am bracing myself for the worst with DD. She wasn't great last night - woke twice and then we all got woken by DS at 7am, usually she sleeps much later than he does - but I am shattered because I didn't drop off until 1.30 and then was woken by her and didn't get back to sleep again for ages. It is SO frustrating to lie in bed wide awake while your baby slumbers away peacefully next to you Xmas Angry

Santageek I remember having horrible back pain after labouring with DS (we were back to back and apparently that'll cause it) and BFing anywhere other than in a chair was impossible so I sympathise. It's been much better this time round but I still love my new nursing chair as it is soooo comfy; DD and I quite often doze off in it in the afternoons. Like the name change btw.

I was really glad that Little Mix won last night; I had been rooting for Marcus but I thought he was bobbins on Saturday and last night and they were much better! What trash am I going to watch at the weekends now? Although I am v excited to see that there will be a Downton Christmas spesh!

snowysebs · 12/12/2011 16:32

falala... also a Downton fan, but thought last series went a bit mad... paralysis that suddently cured itself being an example... still love it though Xmas Grin and looking forward to Xmas spesh... with Nigel Havers I see!!! Still have Strictly to look forward too!!

Getting Xmas shopping done - hoping to finish tomorrow (well OH has Thursday off so will do a bit in the morning to finish). Did the kid's shopping in half hour yesterday - using Amazon... what happened to the blood, sweat and tears of Christmases past??? All that elbowing to get to the counter and taking ages to find parking space! Sad, but now I have LO soooo glad for internet!! It's nice to major things online and then shop for the stocking fillers in person!

snowysebs · 12/12/2011 16:49

Santageek - just read your back thread and just wanted to say think you're doing an amazing job after the start you and your LO had. Ypu've had lots of advice and hope things get better... i'd just go along with always trust your instincts as a mum to your LO - you know best. and if doc not concerned then take comfort in that. your LO sounds lovely, happy and healthy... when he starts eating in few months you'll probably forget all about his weight! glad you found us here - its a great thread and has given me tonnes of support and sanity!! Xmas Grin hope your enjoying the camaradarie too Xmas Wink

falalalalagirl · 12/12/2011 17:06

Ooh yeah, you can;'t have a proper costume drama without good ole Nige!

I haven't bought a present from a real shop for three years! I'm all done bar a few bits and bobs and have wrapped everything too. DS is v into the shiny paper and ribbons. I have used photos of people as gift tags this year so that he is able to see whose is whose which he thinks is hilarious.

Santageekmum · 13/12/2011 02:57

I'm all done too on the Xmas shop front, I did the majority of it online. We do groceries online too. Honestly, I don't know how people coped before the interweb!

DS up for first time tonight. Think we may have made it a little later that previous two nights as I stuck a vaporiser on.

Snowysebs, Xmas Grin at us oldies! I can't ever feed DS straight away at night as I always need the loo first! Never used to be like this... Falalala, which nursing chair did you get? My sciatica was a prepregnancy condition but it only flares up if I lift things incorrectly or sit at the wrong angle. Usually manageable but difficult when a LO is around!

Wish me luck today - DS is getting weighed! So I'll be back here later either Xmas Sad or Xmas Grin. At least this time I can say that we're waiting for the paediatrician referral to come through so I don't get the 'omg she's starving the poor mite' look.

ssmileWithFairylights · 13/12/2011 07:16

santageek hope the weighing goes ok. I've had vbad back since first babe, I find stretching daily, sometimes several times a day when bad, all the muscles around my bum, hips, legs relieves the pain. I saw GP who runs the hospital pain management clinic too and she vmuch into gettin people off meds. Showing me a piriformus stretch has changed my life, do Google it if u suffer sciatic.Yes another older mum ere too :) I go for wee before feeding Lo in night too!
DD1 up 2nd running happens everytime she vtired and Full Moon :( luckly my lovely DH dealt with her as Lo was up at same time (down 8.30pm) up12-1am, 2, 5& 6.30am I gave up and got up so not the best night again. But I fed her in bed lying down at 2am and we were both asleep again within 10mins.
Hope the full.moon didnt get your Lo up more.

ssmileWithFairylights · 13/12/2011 07:18

2nd night running....Bloomin phone!

falalalalagirl · 13/12/2011 14:12

I always go to the loo as soon as DD starts stirring. I learnt from experience with DS that it is no fun trying to BF when you're busting for a pee!

Santageek, I think this is my nursing chair. I have to fight DH, DS and the bloody cat off in order to get a turn on it as everyone loves it so much!

Good luck with the weighing.

Santageekmum · 13/12/2011 16:56

When we move house I will get a nursing chair! Now, to find a bigger house... Search starts in the new year!

Well, slightly Xmas Sad but not too bad at DS's weighing. He's put on 3 oz in two weeks. Prior to that he'd only put on 2 oz in two weeks so it's a better increase than before Xmas Smile but still not as much as we wanted Xmas Sad. Heyho life goes on, he seems fairly healthy atm although with a sniffly nose, just got to wait for the paediatrician appt.

Off to do some piriformis stretches...

(btw although I am an oldie in mind and body, I'm still under 30 - just wanted to clear that up in case you thought I was older! I think that having a baby ages anyone no matter what the starting age Xmas Wink)

ssmileWithFairylights · 13/12/2011 19:06

santageek glad there was some weight gain. I'm older in body but young in mind I hope as just been paintin salt dough Xmas tree decorations with DD1 Xmas Grin
The sciatic nerve goes through or round the piriformus muscle in your bum, if the muscle gets tight it can cause pain. If your core muscles are weak post preg (mine are dreadfully flabby) then all the bending over with babe makes bum n back muscle work more and hence they can tighten. Sorry if you already know this, I had horrid time with my back after DD1 would hate anyone to go through that. I'm tryin hard this time to tone up the flabby bits. I've not lost any weight but have lost inch off hips and half inch off waist in Nov. Hoping can tone bit more off in Dec, but I've not managed much exercise this last week. Lo not been so amenable plus been doing Xmas prep making sweets and wrapping presents. Still got half presents to wrap and only 2.5days to do it before DD1 off school! Then I can only do wrapping after they both in bed so I want to get it done by Fri.

falalalalagirl · 13/12/2011 19:41

Well done with the weight santageek you're heading in the right direction.

Did my first day of couch to 5K today, in the sleet Sad I figured I've put it off for more than long enough and waiting until after Christmas is just another excuse so I pounded the pavement for half an hour. It was hell!

ssmileWithFairylights · 13/12/2011 20:16

Wow I'm impressed *falalalagirl well done esp in this weather. I'm hoping to get some more bike rides over Xmas as DH has wk off which makes it easier with Lo.

Santageekmum · 13/12/2011 20:31

Falalala you have impressed and ashamed me. I am planning on doing the couch to 5k but am definitely putting it off until after Christmas! But I do have the excuse that I have no tech gear to play the podcasts on yet - I'm hoping Santa might be able to do something about that! Xmas Wink Is there music on the podcasts?

Ssmile thanks for the info. I knew some of it but not the bit about the core muscles - and mine are seriously flabby! Been trying to do the pelvic floor exercises but get the sense that the muscles down there are just too lazy! Well done on your toning - very impressive! Any particular exercises you'd recommend?

Also, any of you girls have handy hints on how on Earth I'm meant to find time to exercise? DH gets home at 7 and by the time we've done dinner and put DS to bed, I'm far too knackered to do anything and have a full belly. I would like to do it in the morning but DS is unpredictable with his wake up times and feeds in the morning at the moment - and DH is useless in the morning, wakes at 8 leaves at 8:45!

MinkyjjMincyPies · 14/12/2011 00:27

%23%23%23%23%23 evening ladies. It's hailstoning as I type this and as I am in the loft bedroom it sounds very noisy up here. Weather is not nice at all - not easy managing the school runs (2 different schools so in and out of the car with pram/car seat and raincovers etc. My back is really bad too but to be honest it always will be because of the ehlers danlos syndrome that I have. Just learnt to cope with it.
Dh taking me out for a lovely lunch date tomorrow - hope lo behaves like he has done before. So busy this week with school etc events but only 3 days to get through before break-up (then it will be hard in a different way with the 3 dcs at home - luckily I can threaten with Santa or lack of him !
Well sleep is calling. My close friend is having her firstborn tomorrow morning by casarean in London - I am so excited for her and cannot wait to hear what she has (my gut feeling is a girl).
Hope you all have better nights

falalalalagirl · 14/12/2011 09:36

Santageek, there's no music on the podcast but it plays with your music in the background (much better, although I'm using DH's iphone and I need to put some high octane, super-cheesy dance music on it!) and interrupts it to tell you when to run and when to walk. It is inspired. I did spend the whole time watching the clock count down though, not looking where I was going!

It's difficult enough for me to get time to do it and my DH works PT and finishes work at 3pm most days. I reckon you are going to have to have a stern word with your DH about the mornings once your DS has a more set wake-up time; it's in his best interests that you are feeling healthy and happy after all. If it comes to it. there's nothing like leaving a monitor on next to someone's head while you go out to give them a wake-up call... Grin

the100yearsofchristmas · 14/12/2011 10:13

Now I'll catch up later. But I have v exciting news.

LO just rolled over.Xmas GrinXmas Shock

Aaah. Need proper watch her eyes now!

snowysebs · 14/12/2011 10:50

Yay 100years Xmas Grin excellent!!

Will also catch up later. Got DSS home today as teachers having a Xmas shopping day teacher training day. Going to bake now for dsd's cake stall tomorrow. And wrap this afternoon - have finished getting presents although many to arrive on the post yet. Was fun getting a card for dad and grandad from my LO !!

falalalalagirl · 14/12/2011 11:10

Ooh, that's vvv exciting 100years, DD is clearly thinking about doing it but has only managed a quarter roll so far. She did pull herself a few inches along the carpet yesterday but I think it was to try to escape from DS!

JoJoJoHoHoHo · 14/12/2011 12:05

Haven't been on here for a while and on my fone so not read all the post yet just wanted to let u all know we are still about lol
LO has his first injections this afternoon two weeks later than normal and I'm bricking it lol
Hope you are all doing well x

Santageekmum · 14/12/2011 13:43

Congrats 100years! My DS keeps going from his back to his side - not sure if that's a quarter or half roll Falalala?!

DH and I have agreed that I will go running in the evening 3 times a week when he does the bedtime routine by himself. Will start in the new year.

Pleased to meet you!

Was in floods of tears this morning, heard an advert on the radio about giving money to help treat childhood pneumonia. It went on about babies born to die from pneumonia. Brought it all back for me, glad the nhs was able to give my DS the antibiotics for free. Poor little mite.

And since then he's been very clingy all day - wonder if he's trying to comfort me! Xmas Wink

Weather warning released about wind, rain and snow on Friday in the south - eek!

falalalalagirl · 14/12/2011 14:44

I figure full roll = 360 degrees, back to side = 90 degrees so a therefore a quarter!

We are so lucky to have a health service. I often think about how on earth I would have delivered both of my children had it not been for my local hospital and amazing team of MWs, drs and surgeons (and the drugs). And it's funny how they respond to your mood isn't it? DS is amazing when I'm Sad, he asks me why I'm crying and gives me big hugs and kisses.

Jeez, the weather here's bad enough already. We've got people coming down on Friday so I hope they'll be able to travel. Where are you Santageek?

the100yearsofchristmas · 14/12/2011 16:11

OMG, I started to do posts to everyone, but I had a week of posts to catch up on, and it's taken me ages to catch up, so I'll just say HI :) Hope you are all OK. If anyone is struggling, hope things get better soon. Catching up from my last post.

But thanks so much for the birthday wishes the other day :) Had a lovely time, and the beauty of having a new baby is that when you meet family for the very first time the attention is on the LO and not you, so therefore a very relaxed and very few 'me' questions type of visit :)

So my LO is gnawing loads, clothes, toys, fingers, her fingers, her fist anything she can. It's got to be way to early for teeth to come through really. But she has bitten my nipples a couple of times while feeding, the first time I shouted "ow" and took her off, the second time I said "don't bite me" and took her off. I really ought to have a standard thing, but it's a bit of a shock at the moment.

Had her measured yesterday, she was 59.8 cm and 13weeks and 4 days. I was 60 cm long when I was born!! No wonder everyone though my mum was in hospital with a 3 month old.

GReat news about the engagement ring, I can't remember who said it. :)

Christmas presents, well we're not going to go mad, just a few little toys and probably teething things. We'll end up buying things in the new year as she gets more moving about.

Hope all nativities etc this week have gone well, and the ones who have had jabs mini baby hugs.

Snowy, I have yet to buy the Christmas card for my OH from my LO. I got a birthday card from her, and had a double take when I saw it on the side later on thinking oh that's for me!

falalala, yeah LO has been quarter and slightly more rolling for a while, but she's now worked out how to do it properly and has consequently rolled over 5 times properly now, and about another 5 times where she is kind of stuck there with her arm underneath her!

Jojo, hope it's OK for you.

Thanks Santageek :) We are lucky here with free care for children.
