Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

Love my carbs 2 much 2 do that so even more well done 2u!

sebs71 · 16/11/2011 07:15

Well done on weight loss Envy. So need to do same. Have been cutting out crap as much I can but need to proper diet. Last time successfully lost weight I lived on my own but now I'm cooking for 3 others who are all thin and can what they want think it's going to be trickier. I'm going to have to cook twice each night!! Must start though...

sebs71 · 16/11/2011 07:17

Plus being at home and biscuits in the cupboard not good. Last time I just didn't buy any naughty food...

ssmile · 16/11/2011 07:25

My problem sebs is I won't buy biscuits cakes but when I get really desperate I just bake some instead :o
Had fab night Lo slept 8.30-2am, big feed then she slept in bed and only stired for nibble milk 4,5,6 best night since sat hoping this is growth spurt petering out as boobs overfull of milk.
Hope everyone else doing ok....

Re cooking twice, I would say sod that. The beauty about sw is that you can 'food optimise' so you can have a large meal that includes pasta rice potatoes the works. So you could make a spaghetti bolognese and it all be 'free' or a meat and veg dinner and that be free. Just need to count oil. Bread is 'syns' but not too high I just prefer to eat biscuits for my syns instead!

Exercise is also the key. Someone told me buggy walking burns 50%more cals than walking alone, fingers crossed that's true.

LO eye is starting to look a bit better. My eye is a bit itchy now but no gunk or redness, might just be psychosomatic or whatever the word is for in your head!

I'm not monitoring feeds for a few days, been using an app on my iPhone to time and log feeds for LO since she was 2 days old. It also helped as it showed which boob I had just used, but I'm going for chilled out no timing for a few days. I already feel kind of naked!

Lots to do today including packing for a weekend away. We have to catch a train on Friday or rather we're going to catch a train as OH is going up early for a funeral.

100years · 16/11/2011 08:08

Ooh yes I bake stuff too ssmile :)

LoveBeingAFirework · 16/11/2011 08:15

Hi ladies

So dd has a uti and a cold, ds has a snuffly nose that is affecting his sleeping Sad and I've got to get this new family into a routine. I just don't see how to do it. Ds takes so long to put down. Dd was never like this, she slept through from 8 weeks!

Re weight i have some good news I tried on a party dress the othe day and it fits. What you need to know at this point in that 16mths ago I was a size 20 on bottom and 18/20 on top. It's been really tough year+ my dad had cancer and died, I had a mc a few days later and got pg again before even having another period [shocked] ended up needing an amnio (which was fine) but just a really stressful time. So haveost it gradually but not healthily iyswim. I lost weight when pg with my dd toobut put it all back on via bf making me starving all the time.

Ok so must start drinking more have reallyet this lapse the last few weeks and I am certain it is why I am eating more as well. Plus smaller portions, I couldn't eat much when pg so trying not to go back up on portion size.

If I lose 4 lbs I go down to the next stone. It will be a big deal for me cause my weight would start with a 10! Of course no of my clothes fit me and even dh is saying it is starting to look like I've been ill.

LoveBeingAFirework · 16/11/2011 08:17

Just realised I didn't say what size the dress is, it's a 14 Grin

100years · 16/11/2011 09:44

Well done love :) that's brill. I don't think my weight will ever start with a 10. I'd just like to be in size 14 trousers. Which for me I think would be about 12 stone due to how I carry my weight. Bought some 18s the other day :) 2 pairs of them :) hope your LOs get well soon.

ssmile · 16/11/2011 11:06

Ooh i nooo I baked batch of biscuits this morn and have consumed most whilst catching up on holby on iplayer. I lost bit weight when preg so at 12wk weighin at hospital was 11s11lb, id love to get back to that then I'd be size 14 on bottom but I'm 13s6 at mo :( put on 6lbs in last 6wks grrr exactly what happened with first pregnancy. I know once I stop breastfeeding I will find it a lot easier to curb appetite.

Hope things get better lovefireworks enjoy your dress its such a boost when nice things fit.

100yrs hope you enjoy being more relaxed with your feeding, I used to have a notepad but ditched it at 6wks now I sort of keep mental note but mostly forget heehe. Gd luck with your train journey hope its stressfree :)

jimmijam · 16/11/2011 11:10

Heehee i also bake rather tham buy biscuits/cakes. I figure ur allowed 2 scoff it down if uv made it yourself. Right? :-)

Got a friend & a builder coming round later. Should really tidy the hpuse. Hohum
i dod manage 18minutrs of zumba this morning b4 lo started crying. Of course i made up 4 it by having a cheese bagel with 2 eggs 4 lunch & am about 2 bake something chocolaty-wen i can decide wot. Find it hard 2 stop thinking about food. Easier 2 eat babe in arms than 2 dance around on the xbox babe in arms!
Any bets on getting my lie in 2moro from 2 weeks ago? I think i mmay actually get it :-)

100years · 16/11/2011 11:33

Thanks smile, me too. I think the train will be fine. There is no specific need to get a certain train we don't have seats booked so I can have a relaxed get ready in the morning. Re the feeding. It feels odd but it does feel relaxed. It's just trying to remember the boob I fed on last. I've got some I player stuff to watch but feel like I ought to be getting stuff packed for away as OH is taking everything with him tomorrow so I only have pumpkin to take. :) why she is pumpkin I don't know but I keep calling her that. I'll do an I player catch up tomorrow while in home alone.

Let's hope u do get that lie in, you deserve it.

Mmmmm baking. We have some bananas going ripe, banana cake or flapjack???

Trying to rock pumpkin to sleep. She's tired but only has a weeny nap this morning.

ssmile · 16/11/2011 11:46

Feeling tad guilty having TV morning, eating biscuits, watched holby, jnr apprentice and now strickly dancing, my DH just called not gonna be home till 8pm, he should be home 5pm think it was 6mths ago he last made it home on time he has so much work, but doesn't get paid for any overtime just privilege of keeping a job. Does make bed/bathtime stressful if Lo doesnt have a nap at 6pm. She been asleep since 10am on my lap :)

OP posts:
LoveBeingAFirework · 16/11/2011 11:59

I try not to bake for that very reason Grin

Let's hope my dress still fits by the time of the party.

sebs71 · 16/11/2011 15:07

100years - tried SW a few years back, but didn't lose anything. The only diet that ever worked for me (and that was couple of years ago when I lost 3 stone and even managed to keep it off... then I got pregnant!!) was basically cutting out bread, pasta etc and eating lots of veg. And really cutting down portion sizes. So this time, as I have to cook for the other three anyway, I think I'll aim to eat the same as them, but maybe just cut the amount right down (maybe even go for a small plate!)... And I'll just have to find biscuits the kids like and I don't!!! So much easier on your own as you can cut out all temptation... But, am back at a size 16 and so want to get back to being a 12 ... when I lost the 3 stone I just loved being able to shop and pick out size 12 clothes, felt soooo good.

Wish I could pram walk from the house - but we live on a sharpt hill so either way it's not pram terrority... but I've put her in the harness / carrier and taken the dog a few times... but I've got a really bad back (with picking her up etc... have always had a dodgy back so it's just brought it back on) so can only manage so far before the back really starts aching. Plus, today it's FREEZING out there... misty all around and it's icy mist... brrrrrrr

My periods have returned... :( Getting those cramps and awful tiredness again - haven't missed them over the last year or so (although of course, PG had it's own aches and pains). But, I'm going to ask for Cerazette tomorrow at the check up so hopefully periods will either stop or reduce right down... I can get really painful ones so going on the mini pill might be good for that too. Periods returning has also occurred as my milk is now drying up (after expressing as much as possible... but it's not the same as bf) so in a couple of days I think I'll give up expressing now. Feels strange, but she's had 9 weeks of BM (exclusive for 3 weeks, then partially afterwards, decreasing in amounts) so she's had a good start. You can see I'm trying to convince myself here...

jimmijam · 16/11/2011 20:47

sebs i must have missed a few posgs. Sorry. Can i ask wot made u decide 2 give jp bf? (therrs nothing wrong @ all in giving up :-) ) p.s. Its not too late 2 change ur mind :-)
Hehee dh got my noriday out the cupboard "is this a decongestany?" me "yes" ..had 2 stop him b4 he actuallh took it & tell him it would stop bim having a baby :-)
Cant wait & new phone 2 arrive 2moro, hopefuly b able 2 type much better on it. Hopefuly!

feralgirl · 16/11/2011 21:23

Gah, DS has got another cold and is horrendously chesty. DH forgot to pack the inhaler in his nursery bag this morning so I got a call just as I was about to go out asking me to bring it up, grr.

Sebs, I have the same prob with walking; all the decent walks around here require you to walk at least some stretch along a busy, pavementless road and it is no fun at all with a pushchair. DD is sort of inbetween positions in the slings as well iyswim. She doesn't want to be all squished up against me but she's not quite strong enough to be carried facing out yet. Can't wait until she can sit up by herself and go in the baby backpack. Not that it's walking weather here atm anyway; it was blowing a hooley earlier!

Ate cake and DS's left-over dinner today.

sebs71 · 17/11/2011 07:27

Feral-yes I'm looking forward to her holding her head too.

Jimmi-I bf for 3 weeks but struggled. She either fell asleep after 5 mins or played about latching on and off, then crying as she was hungry. Feeds were going for an hour this way every 2 hours. This was difficult to manage with 2 step kids as one is a 12 year old boy so I was bf in my bedroom so not about to look after them or do anything. Plus she wasn't putting on hardly any weight. Got really stressed by it. I really think I had a supply issue - ie not a lot and that's why she didn't fed well but HV adamant everyone can supply enough, but my dad told me my mum had low supply with me and brother. We were bottle fed because of this- can't ask her as she passed away 10 years ago. Anyway HV lent electric pump and I found it much easier to manage looking after LO and kids and could measure how much LO having - her weight piled on and she's 50th percentile now! My expressed supply always low so I think I have got supply issues.

Jabs today :(

ssmile · 17/11/2011 10:34

sebs I think you have done brilliantly to get thisfar with BF don't feel guilty its hard enough being a mum with step kids makes that much harder. good luck with your jabs today. my Lo screamed surgery down but was fine after just abit more cuddly. nurse said I coul give calypol if needed.

Lo for the first time last night resettled in her crib after the 12.30 feed :) and woke again 3.30 my best night in last 6wks here's hoping we turning the sleep corner and the 12wk growth spurt is easing off. my boobs been leaking again as they been so stimulated the last few days.

100years · 17/11/2011 13:47

ssmile, I hope you enjoyed your TV morning yesterday. Sometimes it's got to be done.

Firework, when is your party?

sets, Good luck with losing weight. I find I get back ache at times with pumpkin in the sling, but it seems to be settling down now and less sore when I use it, whether she's sitting in a better position now she's heavier.

Oops to your DH going for your pill jimmi|!

feral, hope your DS is better soon.

Well little pumpkin has turned into a cranky pants the past few days, usually just the evening. She appears not to have a temp, but is a little bit stuffily, she's blowing loads of saliva bubbles and dribbling lots, and chewing on her fist or my knuckle, her eye is much better now. So I think it's a combination of lots of things. She had a little meltdown last night and fed off and on for 2 hours! I am on my own with her tonight as OH is away from home. I'm hoping she is a bit more settled this evening. If I have to attach her to my boob continuously then I shall do! I must admit to having a little cry myself last night when she was screaming :( I want to make her happy and nothing seemed to work, but then she has moments like that and thinking that I hope she isn't like this tonight while I'm home alone, I know I'll be fine, it's just easier to deal with a screaming unhappy child with someone else. She was fine after a while, then put her in the cot under her bunny mobile which plays brahms lullaby and she calmed down fully almost immediately to the point where she started chattering away to the bunnies! Fickle child. Grin

I've currently got a banana cake in the oven - oh well, bang goes the diet, well the bananas had to be used up and it'll make a nice snack on the train tomorrow.

And why is it when you get the opportunity to do nothing you end up wanting to do loads.

candr · 17/11/2011 17:09

100 yrs, have also shed the odd tear at night while LO is screaming (bad colic)as get so tired and is so awful not really being able to help them. Am waiting for 3 month change and will be giving gripe water from today as have tried EVERYTHING else. DS has not been himself last couple of days but did huge poo today after 4 day eait so is a bit more chipper. Weighed 11.3 this morning (9weeks) but after poo I think is closer to 11lb.
Must get back into making cakes and cookies as will be cheaper than buying and somehow feels less guilty eating them.

My exercise is currently rolling round on floor with DS and walks with the pram, maybe should do a bit more as cant sit down in my old jeans yet Grin

sebs71 · 17/11/2011 17:23

Ssmile - thanks! It is difficult being a first time mum but with 2 step kids (a role I've only been in properly for 15 months) as you can't quite concentrate 100% on LO as you'd like too, particulary as it's all new to me. But we're getting there, and DSD is really taken with LO now she's smiling and giggling at her. Now I'm only expressing about 90ml daily I think it's time to stop as it's less than 10% of her total feeds.

Had my check up - got cerazette so will see what that's like. Also got prescription for my rosacea (rash on my face) as can finally start taking the tablets for it after 15 months as haven't been able to whilst ttc, pregnant and bf. Will be nice to not have to slap on lots of foundation before heading out each time!

LO also cried loads when given jabs, but car ride home soothed her and she's currently asleep after a feed. Was grumbly once home but hoping she'll be ok. Have got calpol just in case.

Ssmile - hope LO has settled now... Are you having 2nd jabs soon?

100- hope LO good for you tonight and good luck with train journey tomorrow and have nice weekend.

P'd off with brother. He saw LO the weekend she was born and when we were still in hospital but nothing since. Yet he's seen his girl friends nieces a few times, and we live about as far away from him as they do (about 3 hours drive). Don't know whether to say something - I usually don't and like to keep the peace... But my LO has little family - just my dad, as oh's parents live about 4 hours away (and in Spain half the time- his dad has yet to meet her and despite staying up here for a few days just after she was born, his mum held her once!!!) and he's no siblings. So her only uncle is being a bit crap. I hate confrontation and it's his loss but it does nark.

sebs71 · 17/11/2011 17:27

Candr - hope the gripe water helps. My LO is also 11 lb 2 oz at 9 weeks (well 9 weeks tomorrow!) and at least you can still get into your old jeans!!!

100years · 17/11/2011 18:47

Thanks everyone. So far she's been OK, a bit whingey but nothing too bad. :) Going to have my tea, feed her, bath her, feed her again and then go through to the bedroom and wait for her to go to sleep. :) Then I'll sleep - hopefully.

ssmile · 17/11/2011 19:23

100 my Lo mega fist sucking at mo and dribbling. I've put her in 3-6mth vests so now she can suck her sleeve instead of her hand&thumb which was getting sore. Think its pre-teething, my friends Lo doing the same. She also been grissling &unsettled last couple of days pulling off feeds yankin my nipple. Bloomin hurts I sat her up and said NO doubts she understood but I got the baby doe eyes then a cry as she wanted more milk.

sebs there is information on net of how to increase milk supply if you did want to carry on expressing. But it must be jolly hard work constantly expressing all the time, with out the benefits of lazy lie down feeding etc. I've not seen my brother yet, and we only saw DH family because we went to see them and that's a 2.hr15min drive! Not too far. Gotta love families if we want a relationship with my DH mum we have to go to her she didn't even come to our wedding....but when we do see her twice a year she vnice and DD1 enjoys hercompany. But I do get fed up sometimes being the ones who make the effort most of the time.

Hoping gd sleep for all. My DD1 was up at 4am bouncy&alert this morn, she also vexcited about tom no school uniform, PJs &pudsey ears for children in need :o
