Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

Lollyheart · 04/11/2011 21:36

How horrible candr I hope things get better for you soon.

I've had my email to say I've been selected .

I have a poorly baby Sad he has a awful cold, his nose is blocked and can hardly breath. He also has a a rattle on his chest so has antibiotics.

Ds was 6lb 8 at birth and now 9lb 6.

jimmijam · 04/11/2011 21:48

Have u tried a nose sucker thing? We still have the 1 from our 1st 2 dcs. Its like a pipette- squeeze aor out, put up (ish) nostrel & suck out goo. Its really gross but great wen theyre 2 young 2 blow cuz they struggle 2 breathe wen.feeding

LoveBeingAFirework · 04/11/2011 22:47

Well to not even reply is just rude (crosses arms in a sulk)

Saline drops can help

Lollyheart · 05/11/2011 03:00

I bought a calpol nasal spay, which is just saline, its great.

I'm up expressing, lo is still snoring away since 9pm Shock I'll wake him after I'm done to feed him.

LoveBeingAFirework · 05/11/2011 04:21

Dd 3.5, has ear ache Sad. Not much sleep tonight for me!

I'm up expressing too. DD is up with me as she now refuses to sleep unless I am sleeping next to her Angry. Really wish babies could have a protective bubble around them until their immune systems are super strong so they don't catch colds Sad. Had an awful 2weeks as she was ill. All phlegmed up and fevered all I could give her was saline and calpol. I've got a prescription for the nasal aspirator but not managed to pick one up yet as Lloyd's are the only place that does the right one. If you're wanting it on prescription you need to ask gp For baby nose clear and Lloyd's need to order it in although some branches sell it for around £9. I've got to venture back into a Lloyd's which is so inconveniently located to be able to get my order done but I'm not in any rush now DD us over the worst.
Tuesday night my parents looked after the kids. DH & I went to watch a free film (love fmuk for freebies) and had dinner at nando's. Something we used to do BC. I thought I would be getting a lie in as no school running the morning but I woke up earlier than usual thinking about both kids. I trust my parents with them just wanted my cuddles from my babies.
So what's this trial/survey you've been selected to do? I used to do trials for tesco products but they're a bit sparse now. I had loads of nappy trials with DS. Google Tesco mums choice if anybody is interested.

summerpixie · 05/11/2011 04:23

Wtf? Why doesn't my hash key work? %23%23%23

sebs71 · 05/11/2011 09:46

Candr - that's awful, hope things settle for you. Glad police monitoring situation.
Lolly and summer - poor little ones, hope they're feeling better soon.

Summer- well done on night out. We've not got many (well any) baby sitting options (his parents live away and I only have a 73 year old dad!) so it'll be a while until we can go out together but I have 2 nights booked - one end November and one week before Xmas) with the girls so looking forward to that. Well first one is take away at mate's house but breaks me in gently!

Ssmile - my guilty maternity leave pleasure has to be the re-runs of ER !! I watch it eating breakfast or feeding LO after seeing DSD off to school. Loved it first time round and enjoying it now!

Well going to go and do a bit of shopping (and not food shopping) thus afternoon whilst OH looks after LO. Apart from one hour haircut a couple weeks ago, it will be my first time away from her. But existing on 2 pairs maternity trousers and as much as I want to wait until i've lost weight to get any clothes, I really do need something else to wear!! That and LO is out growing newborn clothes and needs next size up!! :)

Also on agenda for weekend is making Xmas cake - fruit is currently soaking in the brandy.

Umm can smell something whiffy - best go change LO :)

sebs71 · 05/11/2011 09:49

Love being firework - hope LO ear ache gets better and you managed some sleep.

jimmijam · 05/11/2011 11:04

Dh driving me crazy now. Have been yelling @ 2 older dcs all morning 4 play fighting & winding each other up. Thought dh having lie in. I just went in bedroom 2 put some washing away. Hes lay in bed watching tv. I sarcasticly sed thnx 4 helping me etc. He doesnt care as hes still there!! Grrr!!! Recently hes been really anoying me. Make that really p**d off.
Love him 2 bits but things have got 2 change. But he NEVER listens 2 anuthing i say anymore & makes almost no effort with dcs. Its like now his problems have been diagnosed, despite getting them sorted & lookinv much better, its lokke he has an excuse 2 do jack all. I know he still jas 3 go 2 work, but there r things he never did even wen i was heavily pregnant & still at work

100years · 05/11/2011 13:57

Oooh yes, I need a smear test too! Thanks jimmi. Aside from the jumping fail did you have fun at the funfair? Any candy floss? I can't wait for LO to be old enough for candy floss, so I can have some too :) Grrr to your DH.

ssmile, I got selected too :) Re guilty pleasure, hmm, Gilmore Girls, scrubs and pick TV programmes!

In answer to the jobs we are in question and what would you like to do - (maybe outing myself a little here) I work an an emergency call taker for the ambulance service, I used to be on the road as an emergency medical technician, and was aiming to be a paramedic once I'd done enough time as a tech, I had an accident at work which stopped me being on the road so I now answer 999 calls. I would love to be back on the road, I don't really enjoy taking calls, sitting at a computer screen for x hours a day. Either that or a doctor, and I'm not going to get to go to uni for several years to do that. Will I ever be fit for working on the road again, not unless I have an op. Don't know what else to do, other than try and make a football team so I can be a SAHM and teach our children good stuff before school!! That's kind of tongue in cheek, I'd love to be in a position to not work and raise the children, maybe I could become a childminder so I could actually do that. I'm currently in the 'what shall I do in the future if I ever decide to change jobs' frame of mind.

candr, that sounds horrible :( Wow your LO has had fabulous weight gain :)

Gosh, expressing in the middle of the night. I can barely stay awake to feed! I've started doing the milk bank milk now, as I have a couple of days worth expressed in the freezer for LO if I need it, and what I express lasts 2 days worth of evening feeds from OH for her so I'm going to alternate, one day I'll do milk bank milk, the next I'll do LO milk. :)

Summer, we can't say what it is yet, we will once we've done feedback :) Will poss look into that tesco thing. Free trials sound good.

Sebs, ER shouldn't be a guilty pleasure, ER should be shouted out from the rooftops. I love ER

So LO had her jabs yesterday, she was asleep at first, woke and had a teeny cry for the second one, cuddle and ssshhhh'd and back to sleep within a minute :) That's my girl. I'm good with injections myself, I'm aiming for her to be too :)

Went out for curry last night with OH, LO and a friend :) Was very nice.

Had a nice lie in this morning thanks to expressed milk and my OH. I properly needed it though.

Jojo1983 · 05/11/2011 21:45

Jimmi I saw it all on the news such a terrible accident and them poor poor people and their families! We are setting off tomorrow morning at about 7 and it takes about 5 hours to get there so remember to do the sun dance!

Ssmile I got selected too excited!

My Guilty pleasure has to be being able to watch catch up tv sad as it sounds. My job is working in a nursery as a room supervisor for 2-3 year olds absolutely love it as been doing it for 12 years now. Miss all the kids loads cant say the same about someof the staff lol

candr how horrible for you hope it all gets sorted soon

Managed a lie in today as when LO woke up my MIL came and took him so I could go back to sleep good old MIL

might not be on here for a few days as im away but will try and catch up if/when I can. Have a good week everyone Jimmi I'm counting on you to bring the sunshineI have a sandcastle to be making!

jimmijam · 05/11/2011 22:16

jojo sancastles work better in wet sand :-) esp here @ this time of year wen the beach is nice & quiet!! U feel like ur on a desert island :-)

feralgirl · 05/11/2011 22:54

Hi all, now I've got the damn cold! I've got that horrible tickly feeling in the back of my throat. I really hope DD didn't feel like this when she was proper bunged up two days ago coz it's horrible Sad

Candr that sounds really scary. I remember when we lived in Newcastle, similar happening to us but we didn't have children to defend. I hope it all gets sorted for you soon, the little sods.

Jojo and Jimmi, that accident was awful wasn't it? Things like that really give me the horrors when I'm lying awake at 4am after DD has gone back to sleep. I have added it to my Parenting List of Stuff to Give Me the Fear (along with tsunamis, earthquakes, fire, zombies, plagues and accidentally driving off a quay at high tide with both DCs in the car - am I the only person who gets The Fear? DH thinks I'm mental).

We're further south than Somerset (Cornwall) and the weather here's been lovely today so I hope it'll travel up to you for your holiday Jojo Smile

Hmmm, guilty pleasures? I am loving watching the crappy films on the On Demand bit of BT Vision. Also things like X Factor that I never watched before. We didn't have Sky+ or BT Vision when I was on mat leave last time; it's like a whole new world of save-it-up-for-later rubbish TV! I friggin love it!

The jobs question's a hard one. I'm an English teacher and I absolutely love my job. I'm not sure that, right now, I would choose to do anything else actually. An opportunity for promotion has just come up at work so I've been writing my application letter this week; if I get it then it might mean going back off maternity leave to acting Head of Dept which is a terrifying prospect! I've been mulling over how to sort childcare if I have an interview as it's not as though I can wap out a boob and have DD hanging off me while I talk to the head and the chair of governors!

Re the trial thingy, I did the questionnaire but I haven't had an email.

Read all your posts but too many to mention individually - thinking of you all wherever you are in your ups and downs. Two people though touched my heartstrings candr and ski - hope you will both get past your rough patches quickly.
Re work - I am currently a shm but a very busy one of three now - saying that, I have decorated a fairly large house in the 18 months before the pregnancy. Previously I was a project manager/consultant for the guardian newspaper in HR. Not sure what I will turn my hand to next but plenty of time to avoid that for as long as I can get away with it !
My guilty pleasure these days apart from sleep is Facebook, mn and real housewives of new York (they are such shallow horrible women I find it hilarious - I think it may have finished now though).
Lo has been very clingy and moany today. I am shattered after being on the go all day and only just finished the ironing ! Tomorrow I have 9 to me for Sunday lunch - it's my mums birthday so have invited her and her friends over. Must catch some zzz as lo just fallen asleep.

ssmile · 06/11/2011 10:54

feralgirl gd luck with your job. It's hard decision isn't it. I'd waited two yrs for promotion at work got pregnant and then opportunity came up,I interviewed at 38wks luckly I had ultra fair man with 3kids interviewing me &a woman who had one and was preg so I got the job despite going straight onto mat leave for a year. I feel lucky but its going to be hard doing a ft job in 4days a wk and I had got my previous job down to 3d a week which had been the ideal for me. But we would like a 3bed hse or bigger two bed now we got two kids so we need extra £s. But the vlarge nursery bill for first two years back at work means we will be waiting until babe is 3 before moving.
We gave in this morn as it was 3c outside the heatin has gone on!

Things seem to have calmed down thank goodness, spoke to local headteacher and gave a name, head made him squeal on mates and reported them all to police Grin, also have bought CCTV cameras for out front. Had first night out (Bill Bailey Smile) nearly cried when I left the house and kept feeling I had forgotton something. Had MIL looking after DS who cried most of the time as is struggling to poo (one every 3 days) and causes him a lot of pain at night. Left 8oz expressed an he had half of it (My boobs were like rocks when I got home and he slept as soon as I fed him and woke every 2 hours which was great as last few nights has screamed till gone 3 and we have had less then 2 hours each night. Have tried everything we know to help him (massage, bath, milk, rocking etc) If anyone has a solution would love to hear it. Glad others are having good weight gain. Good luck with jb Feralgirl. SSmile impressed you held out on heating, am so pleased I now have heat again, nice to be toasty.

Lollyheart · 06/11/2011 13:11

feralgirl hope you're feeling better soon.

Glad things are getting better fit you candr

I can't remember if I have already said but Jacob has now got antibiotics for his cold, the doctor noticed he had a rattle on his chest.
Thankfully he is feeling better now.

I've just counted 177oz of breast milk in my freezer Shock
dh thinks I'm obsessed with expressing Grin

ssmile · 06/11/2011 14:00

candr glad your trouble resolved hopefully sounds vstressful, wow a night out I'm impressed we didn't manage for a year with DD1, prob end up being same with this Lo as just too tired to go out. My Lo is doing a poo every 4days, I've tried bath, massage then bicycling legs and rotating hips gently whilst holding legs together in clockwise direction. Normally Lo releases some smelly wind after but not pooh. She is ok.until day4 then looks uncomfy has cry then all hell break loose and if DH is home I smile innocently and say she really wants a daddy cuddle :o alas the smell gives it away! The rule in our house "he whose holding the baby changes the baby" heehee.

ssmile · 06/11/2011 20:21

I've been very low, and PMTiee last few days, been snapping at DD1 and DH, just made the connection that it could be the coil I had fitted 5days ago. Now scared this is what has made me feel very unbalanced, was horrid having it fitted not sure can face having it taken out again but do not want to feel like this :( talked it over with my DH tonight he agreed with me I've noticeably changed the last few days and I've been feeling SO hungry. Anyone on here had a mirena felt vhormonal? I've just had look in other talkboards on here realise others have had same probs :(

OP posts:
100years · 06/11/2011 21:02

V quick as on phone but seen ur prob ssmile. I had a copper coil as I didn't want hormones. Had to have it removed and remember it hurting loads less coming out than going in. It basically 'slips' out whereas they have to use an instrument to open the cervix to put it in if I remember correctly. Hope that helps. Fwiw I know it's not nice having one put in but consider the copper 'non hormonal' coil. I won't ever again have hormones artificially put in me for migraine reason but had the copper coil. And I had it pre children with no bother.

ssmile · 06/11/2011 21:08

Thanks 100 I'm annoyed with myself now for not doing more research on it as pill made me feel same way which is why I stopped, but the other GP (not the one who fitted it) had been so pro it. Not thought about copper one.
