Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

I volunteered for milk donation, I have excess as it is and keep expressing for LO and have over a days worth in the freezer for her and have been known to throw stuff away after a few days from the fridge as its not been used.

Re travel expenses I'm not sure how many people they will pay for.

Sorry feral I made a wrong assumption about your post about the bike buggy thing. Glad u feel that way.

My surgery don't send out appointments , we have to ring and book one. So therefore get to choose which doc we see, so I'll be trying to get in with the really really nice doc who I saw before ttc last year.

I have got some video of her giggling away which is nice but as its a vid can't be sent like a text! But I've got it for me and our record :)

100years · 19/10/2011 21:25

Yeah re car going into them. As I put I was knocked off my bike 2 years ago, hit and run and the thought of LO being in a trailer thing and poss being the first thing to be hit well I really don't like it. But If people do it and they are happy then that's fine. I'm sure it's just me being a worry wart!

Minkyjj · 20/10/2011 01:26

Happy birthday tp and 100 years - very proud of you - wish I could do that but I can barely manage to express at all -took me an hour to get 60ml out of boobs and then lo didn't get a decent feed 2 hours later - now I realise that some people need the lillipad breast shells or milk collectors - I never have that problem !
Lo only slept for a total of 1.5 hours last night. He has slept all day but now is very restless again and windy - really pains him to fart (I will one day laugh telling him this when he is a smelly teenage boy!) and he is in alot of pain. I just put him down on his tummy in the basket with his dummy and he immediately settled then five minutes later let off about 10 huge farts and now I have managed to move him onto his back. I remember now that ds1 was a tummy sleeper and settled well this way - got to the stage that we just let him sleep on his front as we were so desperate.
Lo is now 8lb 9.5oz at 5 weeks. He has been in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag since he reached 7lbs which was the minimum. The mothercare bags say 7 is the minimum.
Dh is also sleeping separately since lo arrived as he runs a business and has to be on the ball. We didn't sleep separately when we had dc 1&2 as we didn't have a spare room but we now have 5 bedrooms and I am in the loft room which is separate to the other rooms which are on the floor below and it has a bathroom up here. Dh has also put a tv up here for me so if I am up all night I don't worry about disturbing dh or dcs.
Well lo is asleep (please let him stay asleep so am going to crash - good luck to all for restful night.

Minkyjj · 20/10/2011 01:45

Well that lasted 10 minutes! Now screaming like a banshee and inconsolable. :-(

Milliebow · 20/10/2011 12:43

Minky hope you got more sleep.

100years I agree do not trust the trailers. Will have to wait for dd to be ok in bike seat. Suspect next spring now as winter seems to be upon us and I fully expect the horrendous snow of last few years. Well done on donating to milk bank.

Thanks all for replies on DH at night. DH tells me he wants to change nappies and sleep in our room but not sure I can stand his grumpyness!

I'm with you all on the eating. I can't stop!

sebs71 · 20/10/2011 16:37

Yep on the eating... currently scoffing a mint club biscuit whilsts typing this!

Re the DH/DP at night... bless him, mine insists on us being together at night. I've vacated a few times but not lately and DP doesn't like it when I do. He's pretty good at night - will get feeds ready and will rock her if my rocking after a while is getting nowhere. I make sure he sleeps more in the week, but think he's pretty much resigned to the fact we're going to be sleep deprived for a bit and seems to be coping, despite a demanding job. I guess he's been through it twice before, albeit the last one 10 years ago, so he knows what he's in for. So, I'm very lucky... he has a lot to do with DSD and DSS during evenings, but tries to give me half an hour or so with the LO...

We're off to DSD's Halloween Disco tonight (to pick her up) as school teachers want to see LO!!

candr · 20/10/2011 18:37

Well at 5 weeks today DS weighs 8.4lb so is doing well from such a wee one at birth. We wnt to a music and story session which was sweet and good for him to have other surroundings but has only slept ffor 1 hour today so am really hoping for good sleep tonight as am beat. Have DH home tommorow and he confessed he has not bought me a birthday gift for tommorow so will take me shopping. Can't think of anything to get other than a couple of cardi's to BF in - very boring! Am really looking forward to first deliberate smile as he does lots while half asleep but mainly when farting. Can't wait to hear his laugh. My DH has prepared spare room for quick night de camp which I find easier rather than stressing over the baby waking him up as he (DH) gets grumpy and needs to be on the ball at work but then he takes over when he gets home allowing me time to come on here etc. Fingers crossed we all get some kip tonight. (me hving broken heatig prob doesnt help!)

jimmijam · 20/10/2011 19:15

Can i ask a pooh question... Is it normal 4 lo's pooh 2 regularly b bright green? (looks like spinach)
& another.. Had piles after giving birth 2 ds1, think i may have this time 2, any good creams or anything that may help?

Skoo tired :-( still cant get dh 2 sleep in spare room

so far 2day have snacked on ryveta, a pkt of haribo,.slice of cake, choc covered apple & some peanuts. Thats really good 4 me :-) v. Tempted 2 devour some cookies but may just head 2 bed instead. Mmm

100years · 20/10/2011 19:15

Points to profile, I captured a smile today :) I have discovered peek a boo is a fave of her's :) I got a slightly better smile on camera but the pic was blurred. So fecking cute :)

Minky, sorry you are not getting much sleep at all, hopefully tonight is better for you.

Got my bottles through this morning for the milk bank :) Have also ordered an electric pump as I have been doing it with a manual one so far. I had too much prolactin in me before I got pregnant, having never had a child before I could get some milk out of my boobs before I even got pregnant, and so it's no surprise to me that I have a surplus of the stuff.

Went shopping today, or at least attempted to. Only managed to get 2 sleep bras, hey ho. I really need some trousers. Might have to look on line and order some for collection.

100years · 20/10/2011 19:18

Sorry Jimmi, x post, re green poo, not sure if that's normal for it to regularly be spinach coloured. I too have a pile (piles not sure if more than one) I ought to go to the docs for something, but it's not causing me trouble at the moment. If it hurts I use germoloids ointment as it has a local anaesthetic in it which seems to help.

ssmile · 20/10/2011 19:54

My friend has big boy too jimmijam and she BF upto 1.5hrs at a time he has had some bright green poo -he is 6wks 11lb5oz. It can be they getting lots of lactose I think in the milk if feeding lots, or if you eating possibley too much sugar? I think I read somewhere but her HV said not too worry.
We not had any poo again for 3d and Lo fussing more &smelly farts. I've done two lots of tum massage today hoping it will help and been having two cups fennel tea, even though I not overly keen in its smell its taste is okish.
Been experimenting with putting Lo in crib awake now. She resisting being fed or held to sleep now, 8wks tom Bloomin heck time is speeding up! I can see my maternity leave disappearing before my eyes! Has anyone else taken their Lo into work yet? I always think its bit odd, you get asked to go visit but then it feels vodd when you do as your in such a different place in your head at the moment. Or maybe that's just me :) nothing but sleep fog in there at the moment (my head that is) :o

Jojo1983 · 20/10/2011 21:06

Hi ladies
Had a few hectic days getting myself over tired now but find it hard to nap during the day never seem to find the time and before I know it its evening!

LO is still sleeping well and eating like a horse! Keeping a close eye on his belly button as a bit weepy.

My lovely mum today told me she will pay for me and LO to go and see my nanny and grandad in somerset in a few weeks time soo excited just to get away for a bit.

Hope everyone gets a better nights sleep tonight

Minkyjj · 21/10/2011 00:32

Jojo - that's something nice to look forward to.
Jimmijam - re piles - I have suffered for years and tried loads of different meds. The best stuff for internal piles is proctofoam and for external proctocedyl ointment - both have local anaesthetic and both have to be on prescription. Once they are aggravated they will take a while to settle down. The best thing you can do is drink loads of water and take some lactulose regularly which will help you not to strain when you go to the loo which makes the piles worse. Hope that helps.
Re green pop - depends whether bottle or breast fed - there are lots of reasons why it can happen - hv will talk you through. When it happened to us it was due to lo having too much fore milk and not enough hind milk so pop was very acidic. I am sure it will be something fine but you do need to speak to hv.
Well on my front - finally got to sleep at 3am but that was with lo sleeping next to me in bed. Luckily I had cancelled my coffee morning out which was great as dh did school runs and I had another couple of hours - still not alot of sleep but better than 1.5 hours night before ! Today was a big day for us all - my dad and girlfriend came to meet lo for first time since he arrived. Ds1 had last day at school as he is moving to new school after half term. All went well.
On the sleep front - it's now 12.30 and although lo fairly calm tonight - does not seem like sleep is likely for a while. Watching reruns of airline on tv !

LoveBeingAWitch · 21/10/2011 04:15

Hello all

Well I keep nodding off when feeding during he night, not cosleeping so waking up with a start, a bad neck and acbaby who then complains about being moved into his crib!

Off into work today, am taking dd to a session there so have en listed mums support, am sure I'll be fine with two eventually but for the first time I nwill need back up Grin

Btw those of you who have moved to a spare roomnor your dh has, your very lucky. We don't have a spare room so dh is on the sofa. Not every night though, have to admit it's easy if he is cause I don't feel like I have to be as quiet iykwim.

LoveBeingAWitch · 21/10/2011 05:09

This post 2/3am bit is the worst never seems to go back down again, I do bring him into bed and fed lying from this time on hoping to get a bit more kip.

jimmijam · 21/10/2011 09:51

Will post properly later. Lo woke up @ the usual 3.30am 4 a feed (& 10pm, 1,30am...)) & was still awke gone 5am :-( i think he wanted a play. He was still awake wen i fell asleep too. Lpts of poo (yellow last night) so i went 4 a can of monster b4 takinv dd 2 school tho i now feel guilty about it so will save the rest 4 dh wen he gets up as he's on late shift @ work 2nite. Dunno where i'll get the energy 2 clean the house & delve in2 pile of ironing so its sorted wen we go away

seen a new car, its 1 we had as a courtesy car a while back & with 3 kids could now do with a 7seater. Citroen c4 grand picasso (we currently have original picasso) currently has 0% finance (its used) BUT its an automatic. Iv never driven 1, is it easy 2 go from manual 2 automatic?

ssmile · 21/10/2011 10:09

Hi auto car is SO easy to drive I used to have one. The downside is they can be more inefficient depends how u drive. You need to drive more smoothly as u don't use gears to slow down its more plan head to slow down so u don't use more fuel with lots of braking. Newer auto are better. I've lived in USA where autos are standard its more unusual there to drive manual.
We had fab night best yet. I tried to put Lo down awake after fed and she tried vhard with not many tears but after 20mins suddenly cried so picked her up big fart&burb! Then she fell fast asleep on my shoulder and I put her down. She slept 9-2am :o then was resetttles by 2.45am till 5.30am my best ever night in 8wks. Alas I've woken up with a cold &walk to school wiped me out so spending it on sofa with honey &lemon today resting. Hope u all doing ok.

Happy Birthday Candr - have a good day !!

Jojo - I never find the time to nap during the day either - fed up with people saying to rest when baby rests - ok, so how does that work with feeds, expressing, cleaning, eating etc etc... That's really nice of your mum, hope you have a lovely time in Somerset - nice to get away and have a change of scenary!

Minky and Lovebeingawitch - hope you got some sleep last night...

Jimmi - hope you find some energy then to get through the day! When you going away ?

Ssmile -haven't been into work yet - Waiting till after half term and I can drive again. Got 3 work places to go to (work for a multi site college) but will only go to see 2 of them for now. Quite looking forward to it - But, I'm not going back to work (I know very lucky... will obvioulsy go back at some point but we're struggling with childcare for DSD and DSS after school and as we live in the middle of nowehere need someone to be able to take them to various sports etc after school...plus have had to wait till I was 40 to have my first LO so going to enjoy it...Umm, sound like I'm trying to justify it!)

Had a good night - LO took a while to settle after a feed abuot 10.30 but did so about 11.30 and slept till 3am. Fed, and took another while to settle but did around 4am and slept till 6.45am... DP's alarm didn't go off at 6.30 so a good job she stirred! After the feed, was going to try and go back to sleep, but had to express and that just wakes me up but so good to get solid sleeps in last night. Kids having a Baker Day so didn't have to get up early either :-) But, having to watch Nickleodeon channel now... lots of Wizards of Waverly Place.. argghhhhh Grin

sebs71 · 21/10/2011 11:35

And... 100years very jealous Envy of your over milk production - I only manage to express about half a feed each time for LO... so having to supplement with Formula ...

jimmijam · 21/10/2011 19:00

Dh had blood test yesterday. Just got results back. He has an underactive thyroid. Neither of us know anything about it, he has dr appt 2moro b4 work, but i cant wait will b googling it in a bit. Any of u had experience of this?

jimmijam · 21/10/2011 21:47

minky thanx,.its prob down 2 me consuming (far) 2 much sugar. Have just changed a nappy that was half yellow half spinach. V. Strange!
Sounds like a few pl having trouble with sleep at mo
lo v. Unsettled as i cme 2 bed this eve (colic?). After last night i gave in & opened up pack of dummies & steralised 1,.came 2 bed & hes now settled, sleepy & feeding. Bit dummy there should it b needed in the night. Do u know of any babies who have a dummy at night bit not during the day? Our dd & ds1 had 1 all the time but was hoping 2 go without this time as they r ugly really.. But im selfish, i need sleep :-(

ssmile · 21/10/2011 23:25

Got stinky cold felt sorry for myself all day and now Lo sounding snuffy &has sneezed few times. Worried as they can't have calypol before 3mths so really hoping she ok as I'm maxed out on paracetmal &ibprofen as feeling shitty. Think exhaustion just takes away my ability to deal with any kind of discomfort well. Well Lo woke me up as she was splutterin &snuffy so given her sleepy feed hoping she resetttles now.......

OP posts:
ssmile · 22/10/2011 00:16

Oh dear fear Lo really has cold now she spent last hr sneezing coughing and snorting. tried putting a towel under one end of her mattress but had to nibble feed her again its been hourly since 4pm now a long night ahead I fear when I feel shit already:(

OP posts:
ssmile · 22/10/2011 05:01

Well still ere had about hrs sleep, just tried to put Lo in her rocking carseat thinkin at least she be uprightish safe and I might get an hrs sleep alas she just looked up at me and smiled and let of vvsuss fart so I had to get her out as it really smelt like she filled her nappy after no poo again for 4days, but nothing just wide awake snuffling sneezing baby. 100years · 22/10/2011 05:56

Holy crap I think we're at the start of the 6 week growth spurt. Had a day out yesterday that was like a comedy of errors, really knackered from that, here's how the last 18 hours have gone:
11:00 Leave home stop at shop to buy pressie, card machine broke. Go to nearest big shop get cash, back to buy pressie turns out card machine started working as soon as we'd driven off to get cash.
12:30ish stop at services discover proper poo explosion requiring full on change and clean. Then feed set off again.
13:45 arrive at friends 1hour late due to card machine failure and poo explosion.
16:20 arrive at second friends they not there, sit in car feed.
17:20 friends arrive. Have nice visit. Feed.
18:45 leave for home.... Migraine threatening an appearance
19:45 stop at services, get food for us. Back to car, more poo, feed first as she's really furtling for food. Go to change room to discover what looks like blood on the table do change in back of car, miss a wee so total change of clothes. Feed again! 21:10 manage to get on way again
22:00 another stop ? More poo nothing but now needing another feed!
23:10 finally arrive home.
00:00 try to settle in bed, headache and pain in stomach/back. LO wide awake. More feeding.

00:30 LO sleeps :)
02:30 I am woken with horrendous pain think it might be gallstones (need to get doc to check over) seriously considering trip to A&E as in severe pain.
02:45 LO needs feeding, struggle feed for 30 feel sick, wake OH to do winding go and vomit.
03:35 LO goes down my pain is easing I lie down cant sleep yet though.
03:55 LO needs feeding again. 34 mins!!! Wind put down doze off.
05:15 LO wakes for yet another feed!

And that's where I'm at tonight! Knucking fackered to say the least.

My pain has almost gone. Headache still threatening migraine status but not got that bad yet.

The longest I think I've ever fed for at night in one stint is 20 mins so to have had 2x 30 and a 20 min feed is a bit Shock

She's still bloody gorgeous and amazing and I don't normally get nights like this. I thankfully have milk in the fridge and the freezer. So if she's still like this at 8am OH is having her for a few hours so I can go back to sleep and hopefully catch up.

She's asleep now. Can we have bets on how long this will last?!?!

[zombie emoticon]
