Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

hello all.

Alex was 6 months last week and just the happiest little boy. He smiles and laughs at all and sundry, never cries unless he is over tired and sleeps for 12 hrs - he really is pretty perfect. He loves being spoken to or sung to and chuckles away when you sing his favourites.

He still loves his grub - we started giving him on meat this week and he loves anything with chicken in.

i have been looking for a new job since the beginning of he year and was offered a job with an American bank this week and will be starting in 2 weeks. don't want to leave my boy but have to get back to some kind of normality I guess. Alex has been going to a childminder for 3 hrsonce a week in anticipation of me going back to work which is going fine - he's been going for 4 weeks and has yet to cry!

hope everyone is well.

Just noticed all my mistakes in my post, apologies I was very tired as usual!

Firawla · 06/02/2012 19:27

nice to hear from everyone. rafiq is 6 months today, he is doing fine apart from we all seem to be ill in our house at the moment (heard there is chicken pox going round ds1s class so maybe they are all going to come down with that :( )

still bf, which im really happy about as he has lasted so much longer on that than the others. think we will keep going to a year then see how its going. not really started on food much with him so will need to make a proper start with that now, have just gave him couple of tastes of banana and weetabix so far.

need to get him moved out of our room soon too as he is still in his moses basket next to our bed!! cant believe he still fits in it at this age really, but i think i will miss him once we move him over to his own room. and will be a bit of a pain as he is still up in the night for milk so not looking forward to having to drag myself out of bed to go and get him.

hersetta good luck with the new job!

i've put a couple of new pics on profile if anyone would like to see, would be nice to have a look if anyone else has any new ones to update, and hope everyone & babies are all well

Hi all, not sure if you remember me. Not been in here for sine months now.
Sounds like you are all loving motherhood most of the time! And all the bubs' are coming on beautifully :)

A little from me. Euan will be 6 months next Monday and he is quite simply, the perfect little man Grin
From 3 weeks he was in his own room as he never really settled from 2 weeks, and one night I put his basket in his cot (with sound and movement monitor) and from then he really only woke once
per night.
He's been going to bed at 7pm from about 6 weeks, waking for a feed around 10pm, then 4am. About 10th weeks, I stopped waking him, and only woke at the 4am.
At 12 weeks he would occasionally sleep through til 6ish, then Xmas eve started going all the time through to 6/7, now its 7.30/8 Grin

Loves his solids. Started rice at 14 weeks due to reflux and hunger reasons, and now on 3 proper meals a day. Had to stop bf at 11, again due to hunger reasons, straight onto hungry baby milk.

We are very lucky, Euan is just a total pleasure, he's so happy, and loves his jumperoo!

Started standing (aided) the week before 4 months, and sitting properly around 1 month ago. He is dying to walk!!

Got him weighed today and 19lb 12.5oz, just under 91st centile, and 71.5cm, just under 98th!!

Hope to come on a bit more regularly to see how you are all getting on :)

littlemisslozza · 09/02/2012 10:50

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on here for so long. Lovely to see the updates above.

Life is very busy with three little ones! DS1 is now almost 4 and a half, DS2 is 2 and a half and baby Matthew was 6 months yesterday. I am very glad not to have to do a school run every day as it can take ages to get them all ready to leave the house!

Matthew is such a chilled out little baby, he loves watching his big brothers and misses them when they are at pre-school. He weighed 16lb 6oz earlier this week so is on the 25th centile but he is quite a long baby, like DH really, he's tall and slim. He sits up unaided quite well and has finally settled at night after a pretty exhausting few months. He now sleeps from about 7.30pm until around 2am when he has a bottle, then sleeps until around 7am. Can't complain at that. I had hoped to breastfeed him for longer (I fed my older two until approx 9 months each, although was mix feeding from around 6 months) but he decided he only wanted a bottle last month and refused to feed from me, screamed if I tried!!! No patience.... milk comes out of a bottle immediately I suppose! I started weaning him about 2 -3 weeks ago, he is having a mixture of purees and finger food and loves it.

Good luck with the new job Hersetta! Hope everyone else is well too.

bettyboo83 · 09/02/2012 22:13

Hi everyone,

I can't believe our bumps are all about 6 months! Joshua is a little star. He is a happy and smiley baby. Like littlemiss he started to refuse to breast feed just after 5 months; I was upset at first but have got my head round it now. However he is sleeping so much better since he has been on bottles and sleeps from 7, has a bottle around 2 then sleeps until 8 which is fab. He is sitting up well and loves to be stood up but still won't roll over! Maybe he's going to bypass that step? I've tried him with some tastes of food but he's not that interested at the mo. He's very slight at 14lb 4oz (2nd centile) but he's on the 91st centile for height! His dad is 6ft 2" so I think he'll be similar.

Lovely to hear everyone's progress. I will try and check in more often.

WhispersOfWickedness · 10/02/2012 21:59

How funny that lots of us have all suddenly decided to start checking into this thread, it must because all our babies are reaching 6 months!

Not sure if anyone will remember me, I have namechanged, I was LifeOfKate before and gave birth to Rosa on 21st August after a 2.5 hour labour :o

All is well with us, Rosa is happy on the whole but not the smiler that DS was, she keeps her smiles rationed for special occasions Wink She is sitting up really well, not really rolling much and no sign of teeth. We started BLW a couple of weeks ago, but being pretty low key about it, so she doesn't have something every meal, just when it is convenient for us really. Will ramp it up a bit when she reaches 6 months on the 21st, we only started really because she was sitting up, tongue thrust gone, able to pick things up and put them to her mouth. She's seeming to like most things we have given her though :)
I'm still breastfeeding and she doesn't really seem to have increased her appetite much. She weighed 15lb 4oz at the last weigh in (I think that was 23rd January), on 50th percentile, so pretty average!

Anyway, hope everyone else is well, take care!

Hersetta · 11/02/2012 00:07

God - think I have a chunker. 3 weeks ago Alex weighed 21.3lbs!! He doesn't look chunky at all - he is just solid all over!

WhispersOfWickedness · 11/02/2012 20:08

Hersetta, DS was the same, i keep looking at Rosa and exclaiming how small she is (she isn't really, just average!) because she's the size DS was when he was 3 months old! It's a bit of a novelty to have a baby who fits in the right size clothes for their age!

Aww, he's cute, Sarge!

I will get round to putting some pictures of Rosa on my profile at some point... we put all our pictures on a different laptop though, so I have to wait until I'm on the right one!

Firawla · 21/02/2012 14:54

sarge Joshua was 6 months on the 12th and he only weighed 14lb 4oz 2 weeks ago and my HV was quite happy. He is on the 91st centile for his height and she said he was just going to be tall and lean. I've just started weaning him but he isn't that interested at the mo and milk is the most important thing for them calories-wise anyway xxx

Joshua just doesn't seem interested in food, especially if it's on a spoon. Bizarrely he will put anything else straight in his mouth! I think he will always be a slim little thing. When I last got him weighed the HV said, "he's going to be tall and slim like his (looked at me) erm, dad!" Hmm

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/02/2012 08:27

Sarge - don't worry too much about salt, they take so little in at this stage that the proportion of salt they're consuming is fairly small. Obviously avoid really salty things like crisps though!
This is the second time we're going through blw, Rosa is very enthusiastic and much better at getting food in her mouth than DS was! Smile

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/02/2012 08:31

Oh dear Betty, hv's are a liability sometimes!! Mine decided to tell me that Rosa doesn't need milk in the night now that she is 6 months... I think Rosa might have something to say about that!! This was also just after we had discovered that Rosa only put on 4 oz last month... Yeah, let's reduce her milk, great idea Hmm

I read somewhere that once babies hit 6 months, they are feeding in the night through habit rather than because they are hungry. Euan is 91st c for weight and 98th for length. He's not chubby at all, but I'm, ahem, big boned, so heavier but not fat too. He hasn't fed in the night since he was 4 months old as I was advised at 3 then to try water or dummy overnight, and it worked :) He obviously got/gets all he needs in the day. Might be worth a try :)

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/02/2012 19:18

Trust me, she will only feed when she is hungry, definitely not habit!! That's part of the problem, she will only feed every three hours in the day as there's too much other exciting stuff going on, so has to make up for it at night. Besides, I'm not worried, DS night weaned at 9 months old, I'm perfectly happy to carry on Smile Will have a rethink if she's still feeding in the night at a year though Grin

KLou111 · 23/02/2012 19:44

Lol, bless her :) Euan struggles with his milk now he's on 3 meals a day, really not interested. I cut his food right down, but still not interested. Struggle to get 16oz into him some days!

KLou, we're doing BLW, so she's not getting much from food yet which is another reason I'm not worried Smile
Sarge, one feed in the night's not too bad, Rosa's anywhere between 1 and 4 Grin The thing that gets me through is that DS was still a rubbish sleeper at 6 months but regularly sleeping through by 11 months, so it can all change very quickly Smile
