Hello all,

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes. So far it has been fabulous. Breakfast was great, I haven't had to change one diaper (thanks, dh!) and Max took an hour nap on me while I drank a beer this afternoon. So nice. I am trying to soak up his little-ness while I can. He's growing so fast!

LL - Sorry about the SW situation. It'll all be over soon, I'm sure. I wish Max would sleep his long stretch starting around midnight but he doesn't seem interested. Last night he slept from 8pm to 7am straight without a peep. Although I must say when he sleeps through I wake up panicked that he isn't ok instead of waking up thankful that he slept through.

Max is asleep on dh right now. Dh leaves early in the morning for Germany so he wants to hang out with Max as much as possible. My only task for while dh is gone is to do some Christmas shopping. That shouldn't be so bad.

Hope all is well for you all.

BAD TWO DAYS. Grace just yelled and yelled. Very unusual for her. Seemed to be in pain. At first I thought it was probably wind. I had a tummy bug, so thought she might too. No one has slept much (day or night). She didn't have a temp, though. Anyway, dh called the local "nurse's helpline" and discussed the situation, and the lovely nurse thought that Grace might be starting to get dehydrated (thought my bug might have mucked up my milk supply). But Grace was REFUSING to feed (nurse explained this was probablly frustration if I was not producing enough). Feed very .

After the phone call she did have a small feed. If she does not feed more, we'll have to take her to the afterhours doctor.

My mum had ds last night (as I felt too tired to cope with a toddler too). Now we've asked her to keep him for a second night - I feel like a bad mother "abandonning" my toddler, even though I know he'll have a great time with my mum.

LL sorry you are missing Madonna!!!

Mummyhill - so glad mixed feeding is working for you. It did not work for us with ds. He became even MORE unsettled. By the time I realised it was the formula, my milk supply had dropped and never recovered, so we just had to keep going with the mixed feeding.

JDL - PARIS! very adventurous

Jess - I think my WELCOME message to you got lost in cyberspace. Sorry about that. Welcome! I'm in New Zealand, so we are a real mixed bag on this thread.

Must go. Am rather shattered. (again, I don't know how the rest of you do it! [impressed icon])

Still no poo...last poo was on Sunday

TMK, Alice used to poo at least 4 times a day - this is why I am living in dread of the explosion that will occur when she does produce a nappy full of poo.

As we are going out today, I will take many spare clothes.

Good sleep again - she only woke at 3:30 and then when DH's alarm went off at 7:15 .

Don't think she liked having the jabs but they were OK.

pc - on the poo front!! my ds is the same. He went for 4 days & then produced so much I couldn't believe it My dd3 went for 10 days once & the result was dramatic. I'm used to emergency baths!! Change of clothes is a good idea!!! breastmilk is alost complety digested so less waste & some babys just wait until there is lots to do.

Wish me luck!

In an hour -I'm going to have my hair coloured!

I've never had my hair 'proffesionaly' coloured before! having it cut short with burgandy bits at the ends! Hope I dont end up looking like a very old punk! Hope it dosn't alarm Rachel / or hope she dosn't laugh!

Kiwikate - sorry to hear you're having a hard time over there... I have heard that a tummy bug can upset breast feeding. If you can feed little and often - just like cluster feeding, but you initiate the feed. Your milk flow should get back to normal quickly xx This is only a suggestion and meant in all kindness... for all I know Grace is doing all the feeding she needs to help get the milk flowing again

Don't even go to that nasty 'I'm a bad mum' place - we're all doing well on this thread imo!!

Jaydee - Same goes for you too Isn't it natural to miss your life as it was? I miss long lunchy meet-ups with my friends on campus and picking less appealing lecturers dress sense to pieces... AND THAT'S SAD!!!

How's the hair RH?

How's the nappy PC?

Have fun everyone

Hi everyone! Still here TMK - just don't have the time to type.
Happy Birthday and welcome jessinwa!
Had first nite out with girls at weekend. Tried desparately to get drunk but didn't quite manage the level of annebriation i was planning! Still was nice to get out and dh managed with dds, prompting a "don't know what all the fuss is about" response from dh and a "well, i'll just have to go out more often" response from me! Was regretting the 3am finish whilst at a toddler's party on sunday, though!!
Beatie - with you on the "mush for brains" thing! Managed to back my car into neighbours the other morning when i was half asleep and rushing to take dd1 to nursery. Could be doing without the expensive repair at the moment. at myself!
PC - Abigail has never pooed every nappy. Has gotten me a little worried since someone told me that BF babies poo after EVERY feed. Can't remember that with DD1 though. Anyway, hoping it's just another one of theose "everybabyisdifferent" things and am currently waiting for 1st poo to arrive since Sunday. Was wondering if infacol had anything to do with it. Is Alice on infacol?
LadyL - do hope everything blows over with DH. And boo to him over madonna
Cabe - "bun-fire night"??? - you really need to get out more!!!! Though I don't know how you'd fit it in!!
JDL - Paris !!! I can only dream of such glamour. Hope you enjoyed it.
Hope everyone else ok. Sounds like most of the babes are settling into nice sleeping patterns. If only someone could have a chat to Abigail...

RH - hope hair turned out ok and Rachel still recognises you!!! I'd love to be more adventurous with my hair. Friends i was out with at weekend were amazed that i've never coloured my hair (they've only known me for 20 years!!). Particularly shocked that i have no grey like they do - FHS we're only 32!! they came to the conclusion that it must be a stress related thing as they both work in education and I "only" work in marketing. Yeah, must be those 12 weeks or so holidays they get each year!!! Neither have any children so they'll need an industrial strength dye to cover all the stress-related white hair when/if they ever reproduce!!!

Hi all. Just had a quick read of all your posts - not been able to catch up for a while as computer in dining room which now has huge hole in wall into unfinished extension so is bloody freezing!! I can't even bring myself to spend minutes let alone hours on mumsnet at the moment due to cold!! DH bought a couple of heaters yesterday so have a little warmth today.

Redhelen - like you I just can't get my head around the fact that I have no cash! It was hard enough when i went part time and now it's part time maternity pay i really should get a grip. But it's nearly Christmas!!!

Am despertately trying to lose some weight at the moment. After Tom was born I was straight back to my pre preg weight which was lucky but that was always far too much! Thought breastfeeding was meant to be a miracle for losing weight - what happened here!! Have dug out some old Slimming World Magazines and am trying to stick to that but I have NO will power at all.

JAAM - i've still not gone near a drop of alocohol since finding out the wonderful news i was pregnant...is it ok when b/fing? if so might treat myself to the bottle of Jack Daniels sitting in the cupboard.

PC - glad it was only minor.

Thanks Cabe. That's really good advice on the bf front - I'll do just that.

TMK there are several mn threads where the bf gurus say its fine to drink while bf. In NZ the department of health advises against it. They say they've examined studies, some show it is fine to drink and some show it is not fine. They believe there can be some risk, but that we just don't know for sure. Anyway, the official advice here is (1) preferably drink nothing (2) if you are going to drink, make it little and seldom

TMK - I don't drink much - the odd glass of white wine spritzer twice a week - more spritzer than white wine or the very odd beer. If I know I'm going to have a big night I make sure there's enough EBM in the freezer and the next morning when my boobs are painfully sore and overfull from not feeding I express until I can't get any more out just in case there's any naughty alcohol lingering there. Think I've been good enough not drinking for 9 months thank you very much! It's the hang over with very small child that's enough to put me off doing it very often!!

Major poo happened last night .

Needed a bath - poo up to armpits.

Not sure the top will ever be the same again (unless we dye it yellow )

DS found it funny (as did I to be honest)

Argh.

DH managed to take my keys and his with him.

So we are stuck in the house (as the buggy is in the boot of my locked car) instead of visting one o my friends (who has a lovely nearly 7 month old DD)

We have made cakes, made a mess and hopefully |DS will stay in his bed for a while.

Where is everyone (probably out enjoying the sunshine)
