Morning

Hope you are all well. Did anyone hear the Hemel explosion last night?

Friends with dh today - well it is Christmas and he is now suitably ashamed. Still no diamonds!
On this point (sort of) did anyone receive a gift after baby was born - flowers etc. My friend got an eternity ring - I got sweet fa!

Have a good day - off shopping and need to pay for ds's 6th birthday party - next week !!

deckthehillswithboughsofmummy · 11/12/2005 10:17

First time round I got flowers and chocs this time round I also got sweet FA. Heard about the explosion on the news this morning must be terrible for all those families why do things like this have to happen especially near to christmas. For those that atually heard it it must of been a terrible way to wake up.

PickasillyChristmasName · 11/12/2005 11:56

I didn't get anything from DH after DS or DD were born. But I wasn't expecting to so I wasn't bothered

Simplyred · 11/12/2005 14:33

No I wasn't worried until I realized I've not had a birthday present either - money is tight so its not a problem - guess I'm still feeling low about the photo incident - and another person has just asked me when I'm due! Have purchased some Arnica and vitamin C and will be making more effort to reduce the swollen tummy!

Saw db's wedding photos yesterday - and I was obviously using a body double - whos body is double the size I think I am! !!

milwardmincepies · 11/12/2005 22:19

harktheheraldcabe - thanks for the support on the dummy thread. Some posters get really uptight on the issue of bf! find it sad that they have so much aggression towards bf. Anyhow I'm happy to bf on demand as can't forget/loose/drop/have to organise the equipment! If I used a dummy I would never find it!! respect others choices though & experiences. Hope all is going well for you.

What is everyone doing for xmas? I have 7 of dh's family coming to stay! have just worked out the logistics of this!! plus xmas dinner for 12.

dd3 stil getting spots with chicken pox. Waiting for ds4 to get it. She's worried about the spots but not itching them yet.

Harktheheraldcabewillsing · 11/12/2005 23:03

Hello everybody!!

RH - is SimplyRed a permanent change now? about your 'body double' gag... The continued presence of a 'bump' must be very disconcerting for you, do you still use your birthing ball to sit on? it's very good for core muscle control and posture and if you conciously hold in your tummy muscles whilst walking it helps strengthen your abs I'm not surprised that your having a harder time of getting your tummy back to shape after a caesarian... as the muscle wall has to mend before you can excersise.

Milward - All's well here
I just thought a certain contributor to MN always sticks her negative oar into discussions - she's rude and thoughtless throughout most of her posts and I didn't like her nasty tone about you!
I haven't got an issue with dummies per se, both mine suck either fingers or thumb so a dummy wouldn't get a look in! What you posted rang true with my own opinions and didn't think you needed the slating!

RH - I got flowers... and practical home-making gifts, nice things for the kitchen and the like

DecktheHills - sorry I missed your call and text - dd got to them first and forgot to tell me about them little busy-body! my offer still holds! hope you can get through next time

I don't know what I'm doing for Christmas yet - it all depends on whether DP is working or not... as it stands, it looks like he'll have the holiday off, but I'm not holding my breath! If he's working, we'll go down to HIS, if he's not then I think he'll come up to MINE!
I seem to have Boxing Day double booked already though

Have a good night everyone xxx

Simplyred · 12/12/2005 09:34

Hello!!

Yes - I think I'll stay Simplyred - its to confusing!! off for my breakfast

jinglebellslady · 12/12/2005 09:52

morning all, RH so sorry to hear of your sad few days, hope you are feeling much brighter today, we saw clouds of the Hemel explosion drifting our way in the pm, are you close to it? Also on receiving gifts - I didn't receive any gifts for the first three babies except flowers with the first, but with this one being a shock and being in denial for 9 months , my husband got a beautiful ring which was my Great Grandmothers engagement ring and my Granny had given me when I was 21 (long long time ago). All the casing had eroded over the years and the original stones had fallen out but we kept them and he took it to be remade exactly as it had been all those years ago. My Granny died the day I found out I was expecting this babe and we were close. As this babe was due on mine and my mums birthdays it was a special birth and birthday present, however Naomi was 3 weeks early!! Very romantic - after 13 and half years he is learning . sorry that was a bit long winded.

jinglebellslady · 12/12/2005 09:53

oh yes it was rubies and diamonds, and we had all the original stones.

Simplyred · 12/12/2005 10:27

jinglebellslady - ahhhh how lovely that your dh got the ring repaired. He sounds lovely

Whereas my dh has the imagination of a squirrel (except to reward himself with dodgy pictures of dodgy tart) oh well hes mine and he is strong and dependable in all other ways - and fantastic with dd and dsxxx. Moan over

Simplyred · 12/12/2005 10:32

We have not seen any of the Hemel smoke here - we are about 40/50 miles away. I thought we had heard the explosion as ds and I woke up suddenly at 2.30am - but then learnt the accident was at 6am - so we must have heard a car door or another of our christmas decorations falling over!!!

jinglebellslady · 12/12/2005 11:42

we too r some distance away but the news now says it is travelling in our direction (SE).

PickasillyChristmasName · 12/12/2005 12:06

Morning

Or actually afternoon.

Was looking at the antenatal clubs and saw that Arabica is in the August 06 one . Really hope all goes well for her.

I have a cold . But only a cold rather than the yucky thing last week.

deckthehillswithboughsofmummy · 12/12/2005 12:22

Hooray for arabica will keep everything crossed for her that all goes well this time for her.

I have two poorly children at home today. Just phoned school to tell them that I will not be taking DD and they told me not to worry if it was just a cold!!! We have been up half the night trying to regulate her temp and she is currently asleep on the sofa if they think I am going to wake her up and shove her in her uniform to go to nursery they have another thing comming. David is snotty and was a bit hot last night but gave him a drop of calpol and he seems a bit better but I am keeping my eye on him if he gets any worse its a trip down to the gp's for him.

DH is moaning cause I want to go out tonight he says we can't afford it well bugger that I saved up some money and I am going cause I havent done anything just for me with my friends (ooh apart form going to stay with sniff up north wich I won't count cause I had the kids with me) since august!!!!

deckthehillswithboughsofmummy · 12/12/2005 12:28

Just had my appointment come through for an assesment for the councelling it's a week tomorrow. Feeling nervous about that now I finally have an appointment.

deckthehillswithboughsofmummy · 12/12/2005 12:49

milward/cabe - dummy thread is getting rather contrivercial (sp) you really have opened a can of worms think i will go add my twopeneth.

PickasillyChristmasName · 12/12/2005 13:01

Where is this dummy thread? Will go and search

Simplyred · 12/12/2005 13:47

Blimey - that dummy thread - I got too scared to post - its downright nasty! So sorry to Milward & cabe - every one has a right to express (no pun intended) their views but swearing gets personal.

I think you will enjoy the councelling Mummyhill I really found it usefull - some sessions were better than others so keep with it if the first feel strange.

Just taken by engagement and wedding ring to jewelers to be made larger !!! - just call be sausage fingers!

Harktheheraldcabewillsing · 12/12/2005 13:47

I think it might still be a 'hot thread'

Simplyred · 12/12/2005 13:49

my spelling! sorry!!!

milwardmincepies · 12/12/2005 13:52

hope all goes well for arabica

deckthehills - hope you get your night out. Hope your kids get better soon. My dd3 has chicken pox & just hates having her pink cream on. It's good you've got your appointment soon. Hope all goes well with this.

harktheheraldcabe - happy that you'll see your dp for christmas.

I didn't get pressie for having ds4. I did get flowers whilst at home afterwards as prefer not to have them in hospital.

looking forward to xmas lots. We will get our tree next weekend a decorate it.

PickasillyChristmasName · 12/12/2005 13:52

Have now looked at dummy thread.

Not really got much to add to it but I was at some of the remarks.

PickasillyChristmasName · 12/12/2005 13:54

milward, when ds and dd had the pox, we had cream called Eurax for them. Not as bad as calamine for getting on (and coming off). Ds had it precsribed but you can buy it off the counter.

Sorry abou t typing, Alice is tryng to help

milwardmincepies · 12/12/2005 13:57

goodness just went back to the dummy thread !!!!! Think I might start a thread on bf, co-sleeping, slings & home schooling!!! just a joke Can't imagine the absolute slating I'd get!!!!

milwardmincepies · 12/12/2005 13:58

Thanks for the tip pickasilly. I'll try to get some. We have lots of pink vests in our house now!!
