Enter all ye ESHes. We've been Barren, we've been Pregnant - now at last we are Child-Rearing.

  • Come share your questionable tips on raising a real live baybee!
  • Compete with Cunty to take control of the bad mummy crown!
  • Eat crap ham - after all, you deserve it!

I agree with muse that mixed feeding could be helpful as a temporary stop gap. We had to initially with Sprout as I couldn't express enough and the hospital had totally put the wind up me wrt weight gain (which in the end was never a problem) I gave myself a massively hard time about it at first but as boo said to me its not poison!! Yes 'breast is best' is the mantra but actually a sane mummy is best. As my milk supply improved we gradually gave less and less formula and then gradually less and less bottles of EMB as it got a bit less painful.

If you dont want to give him a dummy you could try getting him to suckle on your finger? Sorry if you have already tried that but it works for Sprout when she is suckly but I know not hungry and the advantage is TB has fingers too.

I would third the Calma teats, they are expensive but so worth the money and you only need one or two if you are just doing the odd feed. I have had the white areas on my nipples too but its not vasospasm as it goes after she's finished feeding. But there is no way I can have a shower without covering my nipples with my hands. OUCH!

CluckyKate · 23/06/2011 23:17

I had vasospasm too. 27:7 agony boobs, like a relentless stabbing with red hot needles right into the core of my boobs. Many an evening was spent with a hotwater-bottle clutched to my chest. Not sure when it stopped but it did.

Just wanted you to know you're not alone in the excruciating misery of the first few months Score. Some of what you're going through is not unusual (although, granted, a lot of it is unique to you). It's the conspiracy of motherhood - no-one tells you quite how crap you're going to feel lest you decide not to breed

Chin up my love, you'll be getting smiles very soon Grin

BTW if anyone knows of a cure for anal fissures that doesn't involves guzzling 20 gallons of water pliz to reveal

Cosmosis · 24/06/2011 12:09

scorps see this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/1242383-Raynauds-Phenomenon Raynauds can be made worse by poor latch, so I really think you need to see another BFC.

CluckyKate · 24/06/2011 14:37

Hooray for double-birthdays Grin

Tres jealous of the ESH meet and impressed you gals got it all together after the double fail last time.

Medee · 24/06/2011 15:58

Is Orchid on FB? I'm trying to work out if I am friends with her or not! Am terrible for real name/ username remembrance.

Backinthebox · 24/06/2011 16:34

Fanny the only polo shirt I own has a list of competitors at Windsor Horse Show the year I entered and did a full forward somersault over a water tray when the horse decided I should jump it by myself. I fall into the 'scrubber' catergory of horse riders. Jeans and a tshirt I bought in New Look, with the look finished off with really badly trashed Dubarrys. I think it is Cluck you need to be looking at!

Congratulations to Orchid. And yet another happy tale of a second time sneeze for all those first timers to look forward to for next time.

Cosmosis · 24/06/2011 19:56

Fanny you are looking hot in the eshmeet pics!! And I can't believe how big clyde is.

casp what did you decide re that CM?

MadameBoo · 24/06/2011 20:04

Oh yes - everyone has been most complimentary about you on FB Fanny :)

CurlyCasper · 24/06/2011 20:12

Thanks for all the birthday love CRESHs. It's been a knackering day, and I'm just having a short break before I crack on with everything for our holiday.

cos Had a long chat with SFF and we ended up agreeing to just leave it for now. She's suddenly acting so settled at nursery and we knew we'd kick ourselves if we switched and there were issues with the CM not being available etc. We might come back to it.

fanny, to quote from FB, you look like " a proper English rose", "a girl in her twenties", "clearly lying about being ancient", and "stunning". You're proper radiant and lush you are. (Better than being thought of as Dave the plumber)!

Right, off to get the vodka jellies sorted.

rollerbaby · 24/06/2011 21:22

Where are these ESH meet photies please?

Score- just to jump in on what everyone else has said: chin up my lovely. All problems aside, I swear everything will settle down very soon and you will be loving every minute of feeding the little man. Try and see a BF counsellor as soon as you can to get advice and whatever happens you ARE doing an amazing job. It's so so hard at the beginning. xx

FannyPriceless · 24/06/2011 22:02

Aw, shucks, you lot.Blush Clearly ESHes are brilliant at lying.Wink

casp Perhaps you had better send me a copy of this photo. I could do with one where I supposedly look like a radiant English rose. (But obv no hurry as you have mucho on your plate just at the mo.)

box Sorry to accuse you unfairly. I am probably the worst polo shirt offender. I actually possess a MENS navy blue polo shirt from M&S!Shock That is surely the fashion crime of the century. But it is bloody useful.

score Sorry I've not pitched in before now on your ishoos, but just to say I have been oozing with empathy reading your posts. After Bonnie was born I was very sofa-bound as I was still using a wheelchair with the SPD. My world shrunk, I lost my confidence, I spent many a day 'trapped' under my needy baby unable to move and begging the clock to move so MrP would come home and bring me food / water / let me go to the loo / etc. What can I say? 'This too shall pass' is a useful mantra.

And please stay open minded about possible PND. I didn't realise for ages as I thought the way I was feeling was totally explainable by the circumstances I was in. I failed to realise that was the point.

Happy Friday night, all. I am home alone as MrP is away at a conference. Both children are now finally asleep in their own beds. Pizza is eaten. Wine is drunk.

I too have 2 x too small polo shirts which me look like a buxom PE teacher. Not good.

Sorry but where are these FB comments/photos? Iz there another thread which I have neglected to find out about?

MadameBoo · 24/06/2011 22:10

On the page where the meet was arranged Moo.

Cosmosis · 24/06/2011 22:11
