Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Yeah, get someone else to give him the bottle and maybe try a different formula. You can always use the little cartons of premade formula rather than buying a big box.

As for milk supply, the amount you express bears no resemblance to the amount Henry will take. Call a breast feeding counsellor for advice.

FlubbaBubba · 27/06/2011 15:32

Sorry to hear your troubles salt - L won't take a bottle either and I've tried everything (formula, somebody else giving it, me not in the room, different teats, tippee cup). The only thing I've had some success with is giving him the dummy, then quickly swapping in a bottle - then he'll take 20-30 mls, and while not enough to supplement a feed, it might be worth a try with Henry?

Well L is making up for lost time with the whole rolling fiasco - he rolled for the first time this morning, and hasn't stopped all day :o :o

Thanks for all the advice guys. As I am only back at work for the last week of term (to secure summer pay Wink ) I had hoped I could continue the morning and evening feeds but have him bottle fed at 11 and 2:30 so those are the feeds I am trying him with the bottle. Unfortunately my DH is at work at those times. I was talking to a couple of people yesterday and they suggested me just quitting breastfeeding all together and he will take the bottle as hungry and they said he won't take the bottle because he's confused when he's getting the boob at other times. That logic makes sense to me but i'm worried if I give it up and he doesn't take the bottle at all that my milk will dry up and then what do you do. Going to see my hv this Thursday but just wish wish wish I had given him a bottle for the evening feed from birth. He is 22 weeks this Friday Travis
Good to hear that L is rolling around bubba. I'm just waiting for Henry to roll from his back to tummy. he's having a little moan so better go. So happy it is cooler today as breastfeeding was very hot and sticky yesterday. Thanks again for advice. It's nice to know I'm not alone :)

RunningKatie · 28/06/2011 18:43

Hope you're able to make progress with the bottle Salt

DD has just rolled again, cheeky monkey does love to perform for her daddy Hmm

I'm so grrrr with our local children's centre, they rang me this morning an hour before our baby massage class was due to start to cancel. No new date. Then they rang this afternoon to postpone the weaning course we're booked onto for a fortnight.

FlubbaBubba · 28/06/2011 20:07

:) Is she already a Daddy's girl Running ? :o

L is loving the rolling from back to front, but his big fat belly stops him from he finds it hard to go the other way every time, and doesn't like it on his tum so rolls, smiles at himself then cries! Hmm :o

gallicgirl · 28/06/2011 23:57

aaarrrrggghhhh rant time.

Fooking gaviscon :(

Reflux not great so double-dosed. Feed finished 10:15 but STILL not asleep :(:(

Damn tummy ache.

FlubbaBubba · 29/06/2011 09:47

Oh poor little Alys. Hope you got some sleep in the end.

gallicgirl · 29/06/2011 11:09

I think she finally settled about 12:30.

The lovely girl does sleep very well once she is asleep so can't really complain. It's just so frustrating when there's nothing I can do to make her feel better. :(

FlubbaBubba · 29/06/2011 13:26

It's frustrating and heartbreaking too! especially when they look at you with big, sad eyes.

Still Envy ather sleep once she finally does go off. Still waking a few times a night with The Boy.

gallicgirl · 29/06/2011 16:08

Oh poor you. Isn't it funny how some kids sleep and some don't? I have no idea what we've done to ensure Alys sleeps, other than have a bedroom with no windows. I know we're really lucky.

She pretty much sat up by herself today. I put her in sitting position then move support away and see how she balances. Quite often she falls over after a few seconds but she managed a proper sit for about a minute earlier. Does that count as sitting or does she have to pull herself into sitting position too?

FlubbaBubba · 29/06/2011 19:09

Wow - yes, that counts gallic ! Very impressive - L is clearly keen to sit up as he gets mightily frustrated in any other position, but keels over in about 5 seconds! Hmm

Am contemplating putting the girls on Ebay after today. Does that make me a bad mum? :o

LadyBuzz · 29/06/2011 19:15

bubba put them on BOGOF with my boys Grin

Both DSs have had a tummy bug last night and I have had a very very long day and ALOT of washing! they seem fine now too!

gallic wow thats good going, Kali is also dying to be sat up but she just falls forward, she isn't far off i don't think she can do it in the pushchair no problem but is supported at the sides.

Oh they are getting so so big!

Oh dear Flubba. Are they off school tomorrow as well?

Rather you than me ladybuzz. Hope your boys are ok now.

Sounds like you all need a little break.

FlubbaBubba · 29/06/2011 21:35

They're not at school yet anyway, and so are normally at home with me Weds - Fri, although DH is marching, and taking DD1 with him. Normally we'd all go, but can't be faffing with a pram and two DDs along with hundreds of thousands of others too! :)

Sounds good to me ladyB (though we'd have to rename it BFGTF, which doesn't quite sound as good!) :o

gallicgirl · 29/06/2011 21:47

Nice to see your DDs getting a good education from the outset Grin

I went on a right to work march in Liverpool with my dad when i was about 3. Damn glad I'm on maternity leave at the moment to be honest but I daresay the issues will still be there when I go back.

FlubbaBubba · 01/07/2011 16:11

Just got back from taking L swimming for the first time and he loved it- local open air pool - have to say, swimming on my own with three children who can't swim is quite difficult!! Confused Hmm Am pooped but feeling very pleased with myself :o Both DD2 and L are fast asleep while I catch up a bit on the old wimbleedon :)

Don't think I'm going to be going back to work :( The bastards have dropped my pay (legally!) and it would cost me to work. I don't like my job that much! Shock Feeling quite pissed off that it's a situation I've been forced into, rather than one I've chosen myself (despite considering it as an option - I want it to be my choice). Harrumph /Hey Ho (depending on my mood!)

Anyone else started weaning yet? I'm thinking of starting sooner rather than later as the boy is very nearly ready IM(h)O.

LadyBuzz · 01/07/2011 16:32

bubba Wow at the kids in a pool, that is impressive Grin

Kali has had a few tastes of things, she likes Bananna custard and apple and peach dessert but nothing else so far, she opens her mouth but spits most of it out.
I'm not used to it the boys just opened their mouths for you to shovel it in - the faster the better!

Crap about work, like you say it should be your choice not something you are forced into doing.

I have an interview next week I hate job interviews!

LadyBuzz · 01/07/2011 16:33

that obv should say 3 kids in a pool!

FlubbaBubba · 01/07/2011 16:41

Eeek @ interviews, I hate them too. I often hear myself coming out with some real bollocks during interviews, and thinking WTF? to myself! Well, at least I won't need to go to another one for another 3 or 4 years or so. Haven't penned my resignation letter yet, but have been thinking about what to say so they realise just how wonderful I am! :o

L goes mad for banana, but not convinced he's eating much of it. He's only 22 weeks though, so maybe I'll wait a bit. If my mum had her way, he'd have been eating steak, chips and ice cream about 4 months ago :o

gallicgirl · 01/07/2011 18:44

My dad kept trying to feed DD sausage at a bbq a few weeks ago but that was mostly to wind me up.

Tried baby porridge a few times to see how she reacts. Likes it but not quite ready. As she's doing better at sitting up, I tried some pureed sweet potato and carrot or something like that this evening. It went down pretty well but Alys wanted to hold and chew the spoon herself. I suspect she'll be better with BLW and proper solids so only a few weeks to wait. Going to get her weighed on Tuesday so will ask the HV what she thinks.

I'm very impressed with the swimming flubba but the news about work just sucks.

Good luck with the interview ladybuzz. Remember to give examples of how you fit the person spec, ask for questions to be repeated or explained if need be and don't forget to go back to a point if you think you can improve your answer.

LadyBuzz · 01/07/2011 21:31

thanks gallic I've started making notes already. Unfortunately I'm not in the slightest bit qualified to do the job Grin
I'm going to have to do some serious blagging if i stand a chance.
The interview is with my own manager which would be great if i'd met him more then once but he only took over after i'd left.
Still must be positive I got through the initial NHS selection so i must have done something right????

Kalis hair has started curling, i bathed her earlier and it was just mad and sticky up when it dried -very cute!

FlubbaBubba · 02/07/2011 10:02

My girls used to do the same gallic so I ended up using three or four spoons a go - one for them to hold and chew, another to feed them with, then, when they grabbed that one off me having dropped their own, the spares!! :o

Fuzzywood · 02/07/2011 21:19

Hey all, just popping in to bookmark as I lost you all. Fab holiday, absolutely knackered now so off to bed in a minute. Will catch up and post properly tomorrow Smile
