Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Happy new year!
Poorly household here so all in pjs already. Here's to a happy and healthier 2012.

Flubba · 01/01/2012 06:21

Happy New Year everyone! :) Hope 2012 brings you happiness and calm (and a big fat belly for Running) Wink

RunningKatie · 01/01/2012 20:07

Thank you Flubba, due to Christmas excesses I already have a belly going on! Blush Was at the gym at 10am today.......

Happy new year to everyone (and babies of course). We were tucked up in bed by 11pm, but Isobel fancied a midnight snack so we were up again for a while at midnight and then again at 5pm. DH starts his new job on Tuesday so we need to sort these nighttime feeds soon, I think it's just habit but I'm not sure how to prove that to her!

Did you all see that a new series of One Born Every Minute starts this week? Very excited.

gallicgreetings · 03/01/2012 19:52

Hope you all had a good New Year. we've all got the lurgy so we're feeling a bit grotty.

I started back to work today which went ok. Alys had fun at nursery but was tired and grumpy when I picked her up. She soon perked up at home though and had fun pushing her little truck around - it's like a get away car!

Let's hope she's tired out and sleeps through. Grin

Fuzzywood · 03/01/2012 20:53

First day back at work for me too. Ev was fine at nursery, they took some lovely photos so I know he smiled through most of it. As soon as I arrived though he started pointing to the door Smile
In bed already as I'm knackered!

Flubba · 04/01/2012 08:42

I'm a bit Envy at you both going back to work. Sitting here with snot and dribble on me (and that's just me! Wink). Still, have to look at it more positively and enjoy the moments more especially when I've changed the fourth nappy of the morning, resolved the millionth argument of the day about who gets what colour cup, asked the girls to tidy up five times, asked everyone to stop getting naked, had feeding time at the zoo and all before lunchtime :)

What are your LO's sleep patterns during the day? I'm concerned that L is sleeping too much, but I'm really struggling to keep him awake for longer.

RunningKatie · 04/01/2012 19:45

What's he sleeping like Flubba, Iz was up at 6.30am (Daddy's new routine woke her), then I took her for a walk about 10am and she napped for 30 mins, then she had another nap for about 30mins at 3pm. I really think she needs longer but since stopping our post bf'ing cuddle & nap, I've never managed to get her to nap in her cot so all naps are either in the car or in her buggy. Frustratingly today, she woke up each time I wheeled the buggy into the house, normally she might sleep for another 20mins. I have out the No-Cry Sleep Solution book from the library and I'm trying to read that before starting to use it. She's gone to bed at 7pm, so fingers crossed she'll sleep till midnight now.

We went to soft play for the first time yesterday, it's a bit wasted on a bumshuffler but it goes up to £4 when she turns 1 so best to go whilst it's only £1.80! :)

Flubba · 04/01/2012 20:18

He sleeps from 7pm to 4.45am Shock when he has a BF, then goes back to sleep till half six or so, but still has 45mins or so quite early - 9am or so (often on the school run in the buggy), then another 1.5 hrs after lunch. I've tried to push them back or wake him earlier, but he's really on his last legs, but I'm really struggling with the early wake-ups myself as I can't get back to sleep.

Envy at Alexa's sleeps!!
Well, having written that yesterday, L woke up at 2:50 screaming blue murder for a feed, then woke again about 5:45 still hungry, so DH got up with him and fed him a small breakfast before we all ate together again at 7. Hopefully a growth spurt and he'll calm down.

Also hoping to stop BFing him at 12m (in 3 weeks' time), but as he doesn't take a bottle, or milk through any other means, I'm at a bit of a loss as to quite how to do it Confused

RunningKatie · 05/01/2012 19:53

Bless him, growth spurts are hard work! Flubba, what milk have you tried him with? Iz has cows milk, admittedly not much as she still spits a fair amount but at least some goes in and stays in. She uses a variety of Tommee Tippee cups, I've tried her with a doidy cup but she uses that like a mouthwash and also dunks her hands in it!

We had a bit of a nap breakthrough today, I tried to go out for a walk this morning but it was pouring so ended up taking her upstairs and sitting on our bed with her on my chest. She slept for 90mins, and I read a huge amount of my book! Next, I have to get her to sleep without Mummy. :)

Tis my birthday today28 again . L took four steps in my honour, and DD1 (4yo) made me a card with thank you on it "for looking after us"!! Sob! :) :)

RunningKatie · 09/01/2012 19:32

Happy birthday Flubba :) - well done L on the steps too. It's my birthday in 3 weeks and the chances of Iz walking are somewhat remote......

Flubba · 09/01/2012 19:46

Thanks Running ~ what date is that? L was born on 27th Jan.

RunningKatie · 09/01/2012 20:03

Birthday itself is the 30th, DH is taking me out on the 28th and we have a babysitter so we can have a meal out without someone grumping in a highchair! :)

Flubba · 09/01/2012 20:33

:)

DH has just cooked me a yaki udon from a wagamama recipe book that he bought me for my birthday last year (with the promise of cooking me a meal from it back then) Wink

Happy birthday Bubba and good work L. Don't think Ev will quite manage it before his birthday. Though after 3 days at nursery last week he now claps and points so you never know. I'd just settle for him to go back to sleeping well. How come just before I go back to work he decides that it's acceptable behaviour to be up 3 or 4 times in the night then awake for the day by 5.30!
He had his first day being looked after by Grandma, my DMIL today (he then does 3 days at nursery) and he loved it. Big relief about that and also that he had a better day at nursery on Thurs. Hope he's ok tomorrow after not being there since Thursday.
Right I'm off to bed as I'm absolutely knackered!
Hope all are well Smile

Flubba · 09/01/2012 21:48

bollocks - just spent ages writing a post to you all and somehow lost it. Quick version is; would you leave your LO to go up and down stairs on his/her own if they can do it all by themselves? L hasn't fallen (yet?), and can manouever himself into position at the top of the stairs to go downstairs (kind of kamikaze-style in an almost flat flying down position!). He'd do it all day, every day if he could, and DH are gradually leaving him to it more and more, but not sure whether we shouldn't be more careful?

RunningKatie · 15/01/2012 20:25

We've had a pukey bug here, poor Iz was off her food today and we kept trying to tempt her but she wasn't having it. Mid-afternoon she covered me in lots and lots of vomit. :( So, I guess she knew best, we're hoping she'll sleep it off now as she's gone to bed and we've not heard a peep from her so far.

Hasn't it gone cold all of a sudden? I think we're going to need another snow suit.

Fuzzywood · 16/01/2012 09:29

Morning, someone tell me the ridiculous amount of night time waking and copious milk guzzling are just a growth spurt or I might cry!
Sorry to hear Iz has been poorly, hope she's on the mend now.
I got a new snowsuit for Ev from eBay last week, it's very cute. Think the seller's shop had quite a few, will post link when not on phone later.
Grin at Bridget singing, that's so cute.
Well it only took 6 days at nursery for Ev to pick up his first bug, he's had conjunctivitis so I had to leave work early on Thurs to get him. Luckily my boss has 2 small children so was pretty understanding about it.
Right better do some work...
