Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Got a Christmas name ^^ look. Xmas Grin

Weather is hideous here - very wet and windy. Hope the flood gates are closed on the sea walls.

Kitchen fitted started today and it's going well. hopefully be finished by Wednesday.

Oh, and just at the point when I have stuff all over the flat and no space for anything (not quite mr Trebus...), Alys has worked out that she has grown just tall enough to take items from the edge of the dining table. Nowhere is safe :(

Fuzzywood · 13/12/2011 07:15

Good work on the name Gallic I can't think of anything so will stick with mine for now unless I get some inspiration.
Also realised with the drama of last week I didn't answer your questions about Ev's settling in at nursery. All seems well, he's had 2 sessions so far. First one for 2 hours where in theory I stay to talk them through his routine etc then make sure he's ok but after 30 minutes they were happy for me to leave him. He had a great time, explored all over the place. Second one was 2 hours over lunch. He was still quite poorly but I took him as I wanted to be sure that he'd settle well with the girls. He was a bit sensitive but had some lovely cuddles with one of his key carers so all good again. Last one is for 2 hours over tea tomorrow so fingers crossed it goes well.
Had a lovely Christmasy day with DD yesterday, grotto at Selfridges and Arthur Christmas at cinema.
Oh and tree surviving the human wrecking ball's attentions so far Grin

gallicgreetings · 13/12/2011 09:11

I can't claim the credit - I asked for suggestions.

Sounds like Ev will be fine then. :)

Hopefully will get our tree up next week when the house is straight(er).

RunningKatie · 13/12/2011 20:24

Nice name gallic :) No snow here yet, although there's been sleet and I've seen cars with lots of snow on so presume they've driven in from the peaks. V excited about the test drive although less so if it does snow as I hate driving in bad weather.

Now, did I bore you all telling you that I'm going to the spa tomorrow. A birthday voucher from January which I didn't use at the time being a tad busy waiting for DD to arrive! DH has Iz all day which is a first, he got quite huffy with me earlier when I tried to give him some tips on her routine, I want them to have a fun day, but she needs naps, milk and food which he's not so great at remembering.

Our tree is up but it's behind a sofa, so Iz hasn't yet bumshuffled round to it, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.....

Flubba · 14/12/2011 15:20

No snow here, but it's blimmin' cold!!
Running am very Envy of your spa day - DH also promised me one back in January for my birthday. Nothing has materialised yet, but maybe next year? Hmm :(

Off to get the tree this afternoon, but not putting it up till Friday - just before we invite millions over for a Christmas party in the afternoon. Getting very excited about Christmas now :)

RunningKatie · 15/12/2011 20:30

I'm not sure if the snow's going to land here over the weekend, the national weather made it look like it wouldn't, but the local weather wasn't so kind to us.

Spa day was bliss, I could have slept all the time I wasn't having treatments, and DD behaved beautifully for DH and PIL so they are all keen to have her again. Wuhoo! :)

What are you all getting your DC's for Christmas? I'm wary of going over the top with her birthday being February but I might have gone the other way. Hmm

Flubba · 15/12/2011 20:49

I've definitely gone under the bottom (as opposed to over the top fgrin] with L's Christmas present - he's getting some bath foam letters and numbers from Wilko's, one of those wooden boards with wooden beads that you push around wiggly wires (a couple of quid from a supermarket) and a little wooden train (that was free from vertbaudet when I bought some clothes a few months back). I've also made him this 'car roll' with his name on it. Oh, and a few silly stocking things but pretty much only because we're doing the girls' stockings and they'd be a bit Xmas Hmm if Father Christmas didn't visit their little brother too! :)

gallicgreetings · 15/12/2011 22:36

DD is getting some jingle bells and a jungle percussion kit.

We're thinking about getting the Happyland farm set but might save it for her birthday in January.

Spa sounds fabulous Katie, so glad DD behaved too.

Thank heavens you all appear to have your feet on the ground. We've bought Iz a jigsaw, a pair of tights with a lamb picture on the bottom and the Vtech learning tree. Seems more than enough to me knowing that other people will shower her with gifts. She's been given a cheque, but I've opened her a junior ISA so that's being locked away till she's 18.

I love the car roll Flubba, next year I want to make an advent calendar. Maybe if I start in January it'll be ready for December 1st. Hmm

gallicgreetings · 16/12/2011 23:16

Yeah, I figured I'd wait and see what everyone else bought her.

That car roll reminds me, flubba, but I love the advent calendar. I want to get a fabric one for DD but didn't want to fill it with chocolate. The idea of filling it with activities is genius.

Flubba · 18/12/2011 17:20

Thank you gallic ~ we had so much fun coming up with the ideas for the activities too, and the girls have been so excited each day to find out what activity we're doing today. They've been much more into it than they would be with chocolates, and because it's different each day, their interest is maintained. Today's was decorating their rooms and we've been doing that all afternoon - their rooms are now paper chaintastic! Xmas Wink

Fuzzywood · 20/12/2011 19:18

Lost you all, apologies for not posting much lately. Ev stil poorly and therefore not sleeping well so we're all knackered.
How is everyone? All ready for Christmas? I got the last little bits today for the kid's stockings. Hopefully nothing else to buy apart from the veg. Must remember to wrap Father Christmas presents in one sort of paper and the ones from us ina different one or we'll get all sorts of awkward questions from DD Grin

Flubba · 20/12/2011 19:45

I've come up with a solution to that one fuzzy - I don't wrap presents from Father Christmas (he's too busy!!)

Poor, poor Ev - is it still his chesty cough problems? :( Have you been back to the doc's?

DD2 has tonsils the size of golf balls, but it didn't stop her going to see Father Christmas with my parents in Kew Gardens today and chatting away to him about everything and anything! :)

Have taken the opportunity with the girls away to finish the wrapping ~ think I went a bit doolally with the FC presents - got about 5 toothbrushes between the three of them Xmas Hmm, and 5 little bubble cars too. Wish I could do maths and remember things. It would make life a lot easier! :o

Fuzzywood · 20/12/2011 21:30

Took him back to the doc yesterday. He thinks that it's just the bronchilitus lingering or a new bout of it. There's no secondary bacterial infection which is good. Poor little man just can't shake it.
I did about 45 mins of packing today and I've still got plenty to do. DH was raising his eyebrows when I was trying to fit all of DD's little things in her stocking. I too keep finding things I forgot I'd bought as I was being organised months ago, less so now Grin.
Realised today that I'll be back in work 2 weeks today. It's snuck up on me all of a sudden Sad

RunningKatie · 21/12/2011 20:05

Awww poor Ev, good to hear that there's not a bacterial infection, hope he's feeling better soon.
We've run out of wrapping back, that's my fault as I assured MrKJ that we had loads when we were standing in the supermarket last week. Clearly not enough at all. Blush
DD is fast asleep, I took her to the pool this morning and she had great fun splashing about with a friends 3 year old. Fingers crossed it's worn her out!

Fuzzywood · 25/12/2011 05:55

Merry Christmas all, enjoy the little one's first Christmas. Wrapping paper and boxes will be played with all day whilst presents are quickly discarded Xmas Grin but fun will be had I'm sure x

gallicgreetings · 26/12/2011 13:00

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all had fun.

Christmas day wasn't quite as expected. DP and I planned a grown-up Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve and DD went to bed obligingly at 7pm and STAYED asleep Shock. We usually have to go in to settle her at least twice so it was lovely to have an uninterrupted meal.

Unfortunately, DD woke shortly after we went to bed and we must have gone into her 6 or 7 times before she eventually went to sleep for good at 5:30. She was really hot and we had to give her calpol and strip her out of her PJs. In the morning, we realised she had a little tooth coming through at the top. At last! but crap timing on the whole.

She spent a big proportion of Christmas Day asleep and was a bit under the weather when she was awake. :(

She loved her toys but I think we could have just opened 2 or 3 a day for the next week or so and she'd be happy.

Flubba · 26/12/2011 19:40

Happy Christmas ladies - The Boy's first Christmas was lovely and he loved the cheapo foam letters from Wilkinson's most of all. All are now snoozing, I'm sitting in my Christmassy PJs (from parents) and big socks (from DD2 via DH) wearing a necklace (heart thing on string ~ from DD1 via herself!!!) and scoffing mini chocs (from DH) although if you added together all the mini-chocs together, there would be nothing mini about them Xmas Blush :o

Hurrah for top tooth gallic but poor little thing!

Ooh, just seen the last series of Desperate Housewives starts in Jan! :) Hurrah!

gallicgreetings · 26/12/2011 20:05

mmm mini rolls.

We have loads of food in the house but I keep thinking about chicken nuggets......we don't have any. I also bought far too much smoked salmon. Bloody DP doesn't seem to eat it and I never realised before.

DDs favourite toy is an electronic talking book - she never lets it get to the end of the sentence before pressing the button again so all I hear all day is "the animals eat, they sleep, they play.....GORILLA!"

RunningKatie · 27/12/2011 12:37

Happy Christmas! :)

DD loved all the cardboard boxes, we have a seriously ridiculous number of presents for her. My lovely PIL told us what they'd got her, and then seem to have bought stacks more. Really they could have given her some of it for her birthday. Her favourite toy is a till, which is cute but everso slightly noisy.

We have no smoked salmon so feel free to send some this way Gallic. I was only saying to DH the other day, if we are going to start trying to DC2 then I want to eat all the foods I can't eat when I'm pregnant at least once beforehand, so lots of runny eggs, smoked salmon, sushi etc.

DD was also given a pack of chocolate buttons from her great-grandma, and a toothbrush from her grandparents. I'll be looking after the chocolate buttons for her. Despite me stocking up on all teething aids there is still no sign of any teeth. She did, however, manage a 12 hour sleep on the 23rd - it was amazing.

gallicgreetings · 27/12/2011 12:40

erm....I ate smoked salmon all through my pregnancy!

Never occurred to me it would be a problem as packed in a sterile atmosphere.

Gallic, I think you're right, I was ridiculously cautious at times, hopefully this time (when/if it happens) I'll be a bit more laid back.

Hope that the girls soon feel better jjkm, wrapping paper was much enjoyed here too, plus the little bows people stuck on presents. :)
