Hi everebody, I have been mostly lurking too {blush].
I wonder why is everybody in lurking mode?!

DS is up to 2.5 hours in the nursery and still pretty happy. Is nice to be back to work, but juggling work and two is doubly stresful, isn't?

Skyler and giddy, good for you to have xtmas all sorted out! I haven't even made a list yet....

Katz - those boots look really snazy, congrats!!!

We just gave/loan our dog to our friends today, I'm sooooo sad! She was definetely our "firstborn", and she is such a good dog! I Feel like I failure! She deserves more attention that we can give her, though. So I really hope we did the right thing and she gets all the love she deserves!

Hi Lua
I have been lurking because I am too tired to say anything nice or constructive .
Sorry about your dog. I am slightly concerned we will have a similar problem when we get our dog back when we return to the UK...She has been staying with friends and I am not sure how she will cope in a house with two lo's and not being the centre of attention .

MrsWednesday · 19/11/2005 22:01

Another one de-lurking. I think you're right Giddy, there is definitely less time (or energy in my case) to post now the babies aren't quite so undemanding. DS2 isn't satisfied just sitting on my knee for very long and he's too heavy to hold and type one-handed.

Sorry to hear about your dog Lua (and potentially yours too Skyler). Funnily enough I was talking about this to DH tonight as our cats are starting to look a bit neglected (one of them has gone on a diet in a bid to gain attention and we hadn't noticed until last week that she'd virtually halved in size ). The other hid under the bed for two days and wasn't missed.

Congratulations to your friend Skyler Will you be near them when you get posted back here?

EYM, which man did you pin the willy on?

Tea, have missed your anecdotes about your DS. I read the latest out to DH because it made me laugh so much (so true too, DS1 has started saying 'for goodness sake' in exactly the same intonation as me when something annoys him).

Giddy, can't believe you have finished your Christmas shopping already, I haven't even started any lists yet. I feel quite unstressed about Christmas actually because I'm not cooking Christmas dinner this year, my sister is doing it so that's a big thing I don't have to worry about. What are you lot all doing?

Welcome Killiemum nice to see another new 'face' on here.

I'm also getting sick of my post-baby body so I went to a step class today, made a complete fool of myself as have no coordination and couldn't keep up with everyone else. I'm telling myself it was worth it though as I'm aching all over now (including a stiff neck from turning round to watch how to do it).

Off to bed, am completely worn out. Hope you all have a good night's sleep tonight.x

bubbaloo · 19/11/2005 22:49

Lua and Skyler-Sorry to hear about the dogs!
Our cats still get loads of attention, but they don't get picked up as often as they used to-the cats hairs drive me mad.
Had to laugh the other day-I let Oscar stroke Tigger but didn't realise he had a wet hand.Instead of nicely stroking,he grabbed a big chunk of fur and stuck it straight in his mouth.I was like a mad woman trying to get all the hairs out,but then realised that most of them were long gone.I'm sure he'll eat alot worse when he's a bit older.
I had my oven professionally cleaned yesterday. It looks like new-I don't want to use it.Definately recommend it.
Have had fun with Ds and his mush.He is so used to my cooking that he wont touch any jars of baby food-lol!
He's now eating 3 meals a day(4 ice cubes each time!)and will eat anything I prepare for him.He has so many bags of frozen fruit and veg in the freezer,it's really funny. His favourite is papaya and pear-he can't get enough of it.
Has anyone got their christmas decorations up yet? I'm hoping to put the tree up next week.I've given dh strict instructions to take the back seats out of the car and to get the biggest tree that will fit inside it-I love christmas.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend.

LipstickMum · 20/11/2005 14:03

Hola

How are you all? I just got back yesterday from 2 weeks in... Barbados!! Was a bit to talk about it before went hehe. It was great, gorgeous weather, lovely people and we came back to the coldest weather ever!

LipstickMum · 20/11/2005 14:10

Have you all started weaning then??

Skyler · 20/11/2005 15:39

Oh Lippy, good for you! I hope you had the most wonderful time. I have been there once and thought it was fab. You were missed, but now you mention it I do remember discussion of your gym sessions to enable bikini wearing!
I am not weaning yet. I am holding out until 26 weeks if I can......
EYM - I look forward to seeing your photos.
Bubb - You sound so sorted about the weaning. It is fab that it is going so well.
Still lurking, but still very tired. Had crisis talks with DH today after he made me v . Sorted now. Have felt very abandoned over the past four weeks and not at all appreciated and so told him so. He admitted he has been a bit crap and says he hasn't taken me for granted but admits he can see why I was thinking that.....Anyway we are friends again now . I know he can't help what work/hours he has to do and that it is all to support us but I do my best to make it easy for him, making sure we have food in and dinner is cooked for him and his washing is done and the girls are kept happy and quiet and taken out etc and the Christmas shopping is done and the cards are bought etc etc, and his contribution today was to put a video on for dd1. Grrr. Anyway as I say we are friends again now. I am looking forward to normal working hours agian though so that we can actually have a conversation rather than feeling like ships passing in the night. Byeee for now.

mandymac · 20/11/2005 19:43

Another lurker - delurking. Hello new posters on the junies thread

Lippy - Barbados how fab! How did the flight go? You are very brave going longhaul!

Skyler - I don't know how you manage with your DH on shifts, especially as he has just been away too! I find it hard enough and I am so lucky, as DH leaves the house at 7am and is normally back by 4pm - although this is changing soon. And you have your 2 to cope with. I hope he does appreciate you .

EYM - I did read your post about your son and aspergers - what an amazing mum you are! Also, so pleased to hear about your niece moving closer to home and her digestion improving

Giddy - Very that you have already sorted chrismas - how organised are you!? . I have a cunning plan to make presents for close family - the grand & greatgrand parents and dd's 2 aunties: Framed foot/hand print & picture of dd. Whether my cunning plan comes to fruition depends on me getting off my backside and doing it, so watch this space .

Lua - about your dog, but actually its really unselfish of you to do that, shows how much you love him!

Mrs W - I agree about the lack of time thing too. Although dd can amuse herself playing with toys - or more likely her feet for maybe 10 mins, then she wants a bit of attention, whether its a smile, a cuddle or a bit of a chat with me.

Bubb - Good to hear the weaning is going so well - gives me confidence for the future. Are you using any recipe books? If so which ones? I need to get one, well actually I expect dh will do quite a lot of the cooking, as he has really missed out on feeding dd till now, so I think he will get fully involved with the solids.

So things here are going well. DD has rolled from front to back (well she did it 3 times one night and hasn't repeated the feat since). She's found her feet, which makes nappy changing extra fun . Best of all, she will now sometimes take a long lunchtime nap of up to 2 hours! Which is great, although as it is unpredictable, it makes plans to go out in the afternoon a bit of a moveable feast. But I am not complaining .

Hugs to all the junies - keep nice and cosy this week ladies

Skyler · 20/11/2005 19:53

Hi Mandymac. Long time no post. I recommend Superfoods by Annabel Karmel. It is GREAT.

killiemum · 20/11/2005 20:13

Hi girls,
Thanks for your welcomes, sorry I didn't post yesterday, had a busy day - great fun actually my big bro' came for a visit with his 2yr old and 4wk old boys (its scary how much dd has grown when you see her beside her little cuz). There was a major cute overdose - think my dd loved being the only girl, definately will have them both wrapped round her little finger when she's older.

I had a quick read through all your postings though and it is amazing how many similarities pop up with you guys.

Skyler - I know how you feel my dp works offshore - 2wks on 2wks off and when he's home my dsd comes to stay too. Talk about going from one extreme to the other. Its amazing how quickly you learn how to manage on your own though.

Lua - sorry about your dog but you are looking after her best interests try not to feel too bad. My poor dog is now grabbing anyone who walks in the house to take her for a walk and I feel bad cause I know I should be using the excuse to get back in shape.

And don't get me started on cat hair its everywhere between my 3 cats and dog its like tumbleweed when I come down in the morning.

Hi Muma3 - how are you doing today? Thanks for the reassurance its nice to hear every now and then. You probably all know what mums are like but mine is doing my head in, I think she still thinks i'm a little girl and is always trying to give me advice which i would obviously never have thought of myself! I wouldn't mind but I'm 32. God sorry for that little rant.

Anyway, better go see if I can find a bikkie to go with my cuppa. Talk soon.

lua · 20/11/2005 20:23

Hi everybody!
Can't believe how cold it is! But I am not complaining, love the dry and sunny days!

Mandy - Thanks for your comments! It is my mantra... it is for her good (the dog), it is for her good! But I am still crying every time the food hits the floor and no dog shows up to clean it up . For now, is because I miss her, but in a month is going to be because I will have to !

Skyler - You are a great woman handling all this mostly on your own. And an inspiration! Everytime I start whinging about spending an hour by myself with two, I remember you and stop complaining!

BTW, as DS starts developing more a personality I am getting amazed about how much of male behaviours are there from the start... He doesn't seem to notice whether I'm in the room ornot, as long as he has his toys around. But if he is hungry he wants his booby now, and if tell him off he has the most charming smile! He is so different from DD!! Anyone with mixed flavours noticing this?!

Lippy - Good to "see" you! So, how did the bikini go? I need to schedule a caribbean vacation or a kick in the behing to get out my lardy behind...

MrsW - I've been also lurking [lush] at the meet thread. Name the place and the time in the next two weeks and I'll be there!

lua · 20/11/2005 20:26

Hi Killie!
X-posted!
I soooo know what you mean aout teh amount of hair!!! I also have two cats!
and you are so right bubaloo, cat hair is the least offensive of the possible problems....

killiemum · 20/11/2005 20:34

Forgot to ask - does anyone have any good tips for helping with teething. My poor lo's really suffering just now and she doesn't seem to like teething rings, prefers eating her hand.
Oh and she rolled over for the first time on Fri.

bubbaloo · 20/11/2005 20:50

Evening All,

Lippy-Welcome back.veryof Barbados! Glad you had a nice time.

Skyler-Can't be easy with your dh working away and doing shifts. My dh leaves for work at 5am every morning and is currently working 7 days a week(while I'm not),and I feel like I never see him!
He's off tomorrow and Tuesday though and will be decorating our bedroom.
Talking of decorating I got an absolute bargain today. We went to get the wallpaper and the chap only scanned one roll instead of 7,so we got 7 rolls for £10 instead of £70!
I certainly wasn't going to say anything-it's their mistake and Mr.Homebase has more money than me-he he he!!

Mandy-I've got the same book as Katz.We went to Waterstones and there was so many of her books to choose from.Very pleased with the one we got and Skyler's one also looked great too!

Killie-My mums the same and she's always here!
Don't get me wrong-I love my mum to pieces but she can sometimes be so OTT.Dh is also getting a bit peeved with her.Everytime he sees something to buy Oscar,I tell him mums already got it.He saw 3 different toys in Boots last week and she's already got all 3.
Stupid really as he isn't really playing with anything yet, apart from his cuddly toys and he loves putting his feet in his mouth...complete with his little boots-ha ha ha!
'Spose it's still better than cats hairs-lol.

teabelly · 20/11/2005 22:00

Evening girls

Lippy - welcome back! Forgot your holiday was due...am very very too, oohhhh what I wouldn't give to be relaxing on a beach right now instead of cranking up the heating for the third time this evening!

Killie - welcome , hey your's and Bubb's mothers haven't been in cahoots with my mum have they? mine's also full of wonderful advice that I must not have been aware of first time round or I must have forgotton!! and bubb - yup with you on the constant buying little things...I daren't point out anything or talk about something I may want for fear of my mum rushing out and buying it immediately, all well meant but never the less grrrr

Bubb your ds has great taste, papaya is my all time fav fruit! Lucky you that he eats all you make too...ds must have had a word with dd because at 5 mths she's already worked out how crap mum's home made food is!!

Lua - yup very different personalities between ds and dd. Like you said ds was always happy in his own little world so long as he had toys or food around, dd on the otherhand is very social always 'chatting' to everyone loves to be part of whatever's going on and reserves her biggest smiles for daddy or

Anyone got any suggestions for cheering myself up?
