Happy birthday Welshie!
The trip to the hairdressers sounds like a good idea! I did that this weekend, and today put new smart clothes on, and feel like a different person! Of course, I had then to forget DS's bottle and had to unbutton my smart clothes not made to breastfeed in front of the whole nursery to feed him....
You can also try to go to a nice store and get a nice new make up? It might be easier to do with DS in tow..
My next plan is to sign up for a gym, that I can go at night to run and get both slimmer and get some stamina. Any chance trying one out would make you feel better?
All failling, you can always try some chocolate !

Hi All,

Just got back from 4 days in Brighton. Well, Hove Actually . Been to stay with DB, SIL and my 2 nieces. Had a really lovely time. I was a bit worried about doing it all on my own without DH, but it was absolutely fine and DS was a little star. My eldest niece, who?s 2 ½ just adored DS, played with him, gave him big cuddles and kisses and told me off when I tried to encourage her to play with her toy hoover while DS was asleep (?No, you?ll wake DS up!!?). I am fondly imagining this is what its like to have 2 kids, but I realise that it was novelty value rather than reality. I have also arrived home with so many hand me down toys. I actually can?t walk through my rather narrow hall without tripping over plastic. I?m very lucky, they are v. generous, but there is just SO much of it.

Welshie, happy birthday you!!!!! Sorry you?re feeling a bit run down. I definitely suggest either a facial or a massage. They do wonders in cheering you up, or at least they work for me. My only other suggestion would be shoe shopping. You don?t have to feel sylphlike/toned or thin to appreciate shoe shopping. Not that I?m implying you are not all of these things already?.

Bubb, my DS is regularly eating cat fur. Not that it,s something I encourage, but its fairly unavoidable when you have a long haired cat whose fur is EVERYWHERE. Still, it hasn?t seemed to harm him so far.

Lipstick, I?m very jealous of your Barbados trip. You?re v. brave doing longhaul, I?m really impressed. Any time I go away with DS, I have a car full (and I mean bursting full) of things for him.

I hope you are all well and your DS's/DD's are still fabulous!!!

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Welshy
Happy Birthday to you

Cheery thoughts:

Your children are lovely
Your sleep lady saved me from doing ds a mischief
Wine is a wonderful thing
11-week scans have a 46% chance of correctly determining the gender of a baby. Given that there are only two possibilities that has always made me laugh.

Happy birthday Welshie! Hope you are having a lovely day and that your family have spoilt you rotten. Great idea about the shoe shopping, massage or a facial - also is there any chance of a full unbroken night's sleep and a long lie-in the next day?

Lippy, good to see you again. Barbados, how fantastic. Did your DDs enjoy it too? Haven't started weaning yet, am trying to hang on until 6 months (and I can't be bothered...)

Jonah, glad you had a good time with your family in Brighton. Are you on for a rearranged Leeds meet-up before you start back at work?

Skyler, good for you having a word with your DH, I hope he is suitably appreciative of all your hard work over the last few weeks now. My DH sounds similar, gets completely wrapped up in his work and forgets about me, slaving away at home during all the childcare, cooking, washing etc. It annoys me - when you're at home you don't get the praise, pay rises or public acknowledgement that they do at work.

Lummox, are things going well on the sleep front now then? DS2 is still up at least once, sometimes twice a night (unless DH is looking after him, then he seems to sleep through, strangely). I'm not sure whether there is something I can do about this or not really.

Lua, funnily enough although I've got two of the same flavour, DS2 seems very different from DS1. For a start he seems to like his mummy whereas DS1 was (and still is) a real daddy's boy. It makes me laugh to see the male behaviours inherent in DS1 in particular though - for a start he can never find anything he's lost, even if it's right in front of him. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Right, off to catch up with yesterday's papers. Sleep well all.x

troublesmummy · 21/11/2005 20:54

Hi all. I disappear for a few days, and you all come back! I won't take it personally

Happy birthday. And i definitely recommend a massage or facial. I had a facial a couple of weeks ago and it was pure bliss.

Have to take ds to work tomorrow so that he can have his photo taken for our Christmas newsletter (as there has been 6 babies born in our office this year). Really looking forward to it. Just hope he wakes up on the RIGHT side of his cot tomorrow. He's a bit of a grumpy pants at the mo.

I'm after some ideas to keep ds occupied. He seems to get bored of things very quickly. He doesn't like his bouncy chair and won't sit in it at all. He goes on his play mat for a while, then gets bored. Have tried his door bouncer but he's still a bit young for it, and just hangs in it without moving.

So anyway, all suggestions welcome

Muma3 - Did i miss something? I thought you wanted another baby? I've scrolled through, thinking i must of missed it but can't see anything. Anyway, hope you're feeling ok now

katzguk · 21/11/2005 22:00

can i just confess to not understanding some of the comments levelled at me ie congrats on the comp and great boots!! now its all clear i won the mumsnet comp!! sorry i'm a bit slow at the mo, plus i don't often go to the home page appart from finding out what the comp is and dutifully answering the questions!!

Well i've got three pamper sessions booked, two trips to the spa with my mum and sister and a hair cut with some girl friends.

DD2 has started to nip when feeding any tips? DD1 didn't do this

i forgot to say the best bit about the boots is that i have small feet so they will fit me!!

killiemum · 21/11/2005 22:55

Hi Girls,

Hope you all had a good day, sorry I'm so late posting but hope your b'day turned out great Welshie.

Been painting bathroom today oh what fun! Mother came over to look after dd whilst I was painting and shock horror no fall outs today.

I seriously need to start getting out and about more before the dreaded back-to-work day comes, it seems the highlight of my week is taking dd to swimming on a wed afternoon. Do you think the mother & toddler groups are worth giving a try? Is anyone from sunny Scotland who can recommend anything else for me?

Glad to hear you sound a bit happier today muma3 speak to you all soon xx

right took william for his hospital appoinment, for his heart murmur yesterday, he has a tiny pin prick hole in his heart, the consultant was excellent put me totally at ease, i even listened to williams heart, and he also scanned the heart, he said he is perfectectly healthy, and the hole will probably close up within the next year, so i feel relived now we have to go back in 4 months.

welshmum · 22/11/2005 11:37

Thanks EYM - thinking of you as you come up to the 27th of Nov - the first year is so tough with so many 'firsts' to get through. It's 10 years today since mine died and probably has a fair bit to do with how crap I felt yesterday. I'm feeling better now - thanks for asking and for birthday wishes.
There is alot going on at the moment - it's also ds's settling in week with our lovely childminder. He's there for a bit this morning but also am a bit happy too as I do want to go back to work and she is a wonderful carer and ds is there with just his cousin who is a year older so it does feel like a real family environment. hey ho - life moves on and changes all the time doesn't it.....
Lippy - glad to have you back and hope the holiday and you in your bikini were both splendid
Lummox and the other sleep obsessed - how are things now? ds is currently being fed roughly once a night at around 3am and as the sleep lady instructed just a short feed. If this is going ok by the end of the week I might chance controlled crying to drop this - can't believe that a full night's sleep might be within my grasp......unless dd decides to play up, of course.....

katzguk · 22/11/2005 13:44

OMG - DD2 has just pulled herself to standing!! she's just 5½ months ahhhhhhh
