janedoe25 · 09/05/2011 17:31

ohh thanks angels the dress is gorgeous! Fancy planning my wedding Wink

ILovePonyo · 09/05/2011 17:37

ledkr I like H&M jeans but bought dd a baby gro and got some as presents, they stretched out of shape after one wear and wash, and got holes in from the stretching Hmm

angels yep we swaddled like you described last night, oh well. Might try again in couple weeks, am dreading tonight a bit but need to stay positive! Think I;ve been spoiled with lots of sleep in the past few weeks!

dd is 12 wks today and has her 2nd lot of jabs this wed, I'm dreading it! More because I cried too last time and bloody hated seeing her little face crumple and look shocked and hurt last time, it broke my heart - I'm such a softy need to toughen up a bit! All mums must feel like this too, its not like its just me. Good luck to wiggles and MizK :)

Oh deb, dd's weight is on low centile(2nd) but steady gain, however had her head measured for first time since birth the other week and it jumped from 9th centile up to about 75th Shock Confused The hv measuring her looked a bit surprised but bless her said "oh, er, try not to worry, we'll check again next time" Grin Me and her dad have big heads without looking out of proportion (Grin) so she'll probably be the same, poor child.

tadjennyp · 09/05/2011 18:11

Wow, you lot chat so much! Sorry if you are worrying about S's weight debka. They only weigh every 2 months over here so you don't notice I suppose. S is long though and is at the end of his 3-6 months babygros and I've only started using them last week! Wedding plans sound a lot of fun jane! I like looking at all the little bits that go along with it! Sorry if I haven't replied to anyone. Just having a couple of mins while the elder two have snack!

wigglesrock · 09/05/2011 18:16

Ponyo Dd2 head jumped quite a bit, I remember being really worried!! I have a really big head, no jokes please, seriously hats are my enemy Grin Finally spoke to work today, they were sounding me out about doing a few Keeping In Touch days, thinking about it, the money would be helpful!!

Anna was 8lb8 and when I had her weighed 3 weeks ago she was 11.5, but the Health visitor felt she had dipped slightly around 6 weeks!!!

angels planning holidays is my favourite thing in the whole world!!! I spent 20 happy minutes waiting on Sofia finishing school and writing "clothes the girls need for holidays" list. I even have a special notebook Blush

tadjennyp · 09/05/2011 18:21

Love the special notebook wiggles! Grin I seem to have extra large calves wiggles, long boots are my enemy. Grin

We have booked a holiday! The first time we've had a week off together in nearly 2 years! Going to drive down to San Diego and check out Sea World, the zoo and Legoland! Hoping for some lovely Southern California weather, especially as there was snow on the ground when we got up this morning!

ILovePonyo · 09/05/2011 19:02

Wow tad that holiday sounds fantastic, am feeling rather jealous :) When are you going?

Hats are my enemy too wiggles! And I have a special notebook for organising too, it is full of lists Grin When we recently went to my mums for 2 nights I made a massive list of all the stuff we'd have to take for dd, then ticked it all off as I packed it

I'm feeling more stressed and pissed off about work and redundancy than I thought I would be, theres no bloody jobs to apply for! In fact MizK if you see any let me know Wink

ElleB1980 · 09/05/2011 20:13

Hi all,

Busy day on here. Love the look of the wedding dress that angels spotted Jane. I keep trying to persuade DP to get married but to be honest we're put off by the cost. Hopefully we'll do it soon though as I'm sick of being the bridesmaid and never the bride!

Seeing another nursery in the morning which is less convenient but a bit cheaper. Has anyone sorted nursery yet? I'm not going back til Nove,ber-ish but I'm another organiser and can't bear not having it planned. I'm going into work next week to talk about going back....

Re: weight, R was 8lb 11 at birth and last time I got her weighed was 11lb 15 but that was about 4 weeks ago. I'm going to pop to the health visitor tomorrow and check her out but I reckon she's easily 14lb. My mates 6 month old is only 14lb Confused

40Weeks · 09/05/2011 20:22

Evening everyone

I havent been on for AGES - I have been trying to keep up but everytime I read the latest installment I get distracted by dc's (would you believe?!?) and then another whole heap of messages appear so I have tons to catch up on.

Jane I read your post about the post mortem, I am so sorry again for all that has happened to you and your darling Zoe. You sound so brave and positive in all your other posts though, I think you have been amazing. And what about that dress of angels oh it made me want to get married again, gorgeous gorgeous dress.

Debka I am sorry to hear that things have been crap at home, are they any better? Is it just a phase he is going through? A new baby is a testing time in any relationship. I hope the man you fell in love with is still in there somewhere and makes his comeback soon. You are so right about being a role model to the girls. You are an amazing Mum. And from your pregnancy photos a stunning one too so dont be moaning about how you look! Wink I am sure if the GP was worried about S's weight s/he would have done something so hope its not stressing you too much.

ElleB Envy at the sleep! Pay is forward please!

Glad to hear things are getting better Delia

Good on you ldkr for the weight loss. I went back to the gym last week to my spin class (I got a round of applause - well only from one person but it was the nicest thing that happened to me since Mikey was born so am going to make out it was better that it actually was) and have been in slimming world on and off (spectacularly off) and so have still only shed 7lb since Mikey was born 10 WEEKS AGO! Tut tut. Must try harder.

Byronic Mikey is the same, 50th centile for weight but 98th for height! A long drink of water my mum calls him!

Mikey is now 12lb1 (well actually that was 2 weeks ago, he has been averaging +7oz a week so probably more like 13lb) and he was 8lb6oz at birth. Debka wasnt S massive at birth? Maybe she is just plateauing now...
Am trying to get M into a routine as he was taking ages to settle at bedtime and have also been using the amaziong swaddle pod. He loves a dummy though and constantly has his little fist in his mouth sucking away, poor mite. He had a bit of a screaming fit at bedtime tonight but not helped by trying to get all three of them ready for bed on my own while I could hear DH chatting away to next door neighbour on his way in from work for about 20mins! But apart from that he seems quite contented (M not Dh!) and is just lovely and smiley. Its DS2 that is the hardwork at the moment, crying every time he doesnt get his wn way and throwing spectacular tantrums. Oh the joys....

Sorry for long post and if I have missed anyone's big news

Enjoy your evenings, I am off to have dinner now

ledkr · 09/05/2011 21:50

40 hmmm yes dh took a nice long leisurely shower complete with radio whilst i did all the bedtime thing.I wouldnt mind but hes hardly ever here in the evening so it would be nice if he actually helped when he was here!
I wouldnt worry too much about weight for babies, they are all different,i think its probably a slight concern in bf babies but on the whole its a guide.
Deb-D has been doing that stupid waking thing today, she cries but is still asleep, eyes tightly shut and fist in gob,i pushed her pram vigorously untill she went back off tis tres annoying tho.
ponyo and anyone else who's 2nd jabs are due,d didnt bat an eyelid with the 2nd but went mental with the first, they have more fat now and are easier to distract.
Took D to toddler group she really likes it now,was squealing at all the other babies has been in such agood mood tonight too, squealed all thru her bath as she feasted on bubbles Grin
Had an ok day diet wise, made soup yesterday so had that for lunch and then tuna and veg for dinner, ill forget about the small vodka and coke i had whilst cooking. Oh yeah when i made Els packed lunch i was eating cream cracker bits like they were chocolate.
No hols for us cos D cant fly until her op is done or her ears maybe too painfull,i am taking Els to paris in June and we will prob have a holiday in september, would like mexico but not too sure ginger D will cope with it bless her.
Back to the footie-liverpool are winning 5-2.

40Weeks · 09/05/2011 22:41

I am currently trying to express so I can go out one night, haven't even managed one ounce :-(

tadjennyp · 09/05/2011 22:52

Are you expressing by hand, hand pump or electric? I always find first thing in the morning is best, or missing a feed on one side then pumping it off as it gets too full. Hth

janedoe25 · 10/05/2011 07:32

Morning girls!

Hope you all managed a decent sleep last night. Bloody mindees not turned up again, getting pissed off here! They are supposed to arrive at 7am, oh well no school run for me this morning Grin

40weeks sorry i dont have any advice for you about expressing have you looked over in the feeding boards?

ILovePonyo · 10/05/2011 09:05

Morning all, well what a palaver (sp?) last night Shock Dd was fussy in the evening before bed, usually when we swaddle and put to bed she might fuss a bit but settles herself to sleep, but last night she screamed when we put her in the moses basket and it took us an hour to put her to bed Confused Don't know if she was overtired or what but flipppin heck it was baffling and a bit upsetting, we felt like the overwhelmed, unsure parents we did in the very early days!

Good news tho, the swaddling worked a treat and she slept well til 6.30.

jane whats up with your mindees not turning up, how rude Angry

ledkr toddler group sounds nice, am considering taking dd to baby massage this week.

40weeks I don't have any advice either re: expressing sorry, but sounds like things are going well otherwise :) How old is your DS2?

I'm going into town today to buy a slimming vest thing from M&S I've seen recommended on another thread, I'll let you know if its any good later!

ledkr · 10/05/2011 10:09

ponyo she obviously needs the swaddle then bless her,id have gonr back to it no probs if she hadnt been ok.I saw a thread on here the other day ansd people are swaddling at 6mos. I dont think D will ever tolerate massage, she is feisty and independent like me and Ella,if i so much as touch her foot she growls and pulls it away,i once tried massage and she went mental, cried like they do if hurt! Weirdo.
D slept from 8 but was a pain in arse as started with the stirring at 4.30 then woke at 6,i dont mind 6 without the 4.30 wriggles.Dh got up till 8 then i took over at 8 cos he has a late shift. id love to put her in her room but feel nervous cos of the sids advice.
wiggles well done on he cigs,i must admit i have a few when i go out but i have only ever smoked socially.I have thought of smoking more to lose weight tho but dont.Had porridge today..boring,going to do Davina now whilst D sleeps.Need to pull myself away from Jezza Kyle which i have become strangely compelled to watch since being on mat leave Hmm

ledkr · 10/05/2011 10:11

Jane you should charge them for you time still,i have to psy my cm even if kids dont go cos ill or whatever.Bloody cheek.

ILovePonyo · 10/05/2011 10:29

wiggles I meant to say well done too. The other night I was stressed from dd being a fusspot and when she was in bed told dp I was having one of his cigs (I have been wanting to smoke again for weeks) I had half and decided it tasted horrible - bit of a relief really! Tho it wasn't menthol and thats what I used to smoke... Hmm

ledkr Grin at D growling, Miss Independant! dd isn't super 'cuddly' but reckon I might be able to get away with a bit of massage :)

I've been watching Jeremy Kyle too but turn it over if anone knocks on the door. Might have to get this Davina dvd, seems really popular and Davina looks cracking.

byronicheroine · 10/05/2011 11:05

I also was a social smoker, but being horribly put off it during pregnancy I am now rabidly anti- (makes me REALLY popular here in the smoking capital of Europe if not the world. there have been THREE attempts at a smoking ban and still when I was at the hospital the other day there were smoking wards! Also, I have had people refuse to come to my house after they realised I wouldn't let them smoke INside - but would be happy to let them out on our huge balcony in the balmy 30 degree evening.....!!)
Anyway... is anyone napping in the daytime with their little ones? I have done a few times but haven't recently. I might try again later today if I get time in between cleaning. I have to tidy up a bit as my dad and his 'current wife' (his words not mine!) are coming on friday. Flying out on Friday the 13th.. ooooohhhhh! They are bringing a big shipment of (large!) baby clothes, proper tea and bacon so I hope nothing happens to the plane...!

ledkr · 10/05/2011 11:24

Byron where are you? I did find in spain last yr that big fat blokes were quite happy to park their arses next to me and chain smoke even tho i was obviously pg,it made me grrrr,i said to dh i could be smoking!!He is staunchly anti smoking which is hillarious cos he scowls at me wehn im puffing away but because im usually drunk i think its hillarious, like a defiant child.
Does anyone else feel a bit put out by their baby,dh doesnt seem as affectionate these days but is all over the baby,i fell like saying oi,i made her, show your appreciation. I am currently acting a littel cool towards him that normally serves to make him think Grin

ElleB1980 · 10/05/2011 12:07

Well, a very early morning here (4am then got her back to sleep for a while before a 6:15 proper start. Like you ledkr I can deal with the 6am but not with a 4am whinge too! We're all a bit narky as a result, especially as I started doing my cleaning and then DD fell asleep on me after her feed so now I'm trapped feeling fat and lazy!

Meeting friends for tea this afternoon, they have a DS a week older than R. I just suggested walking over (it's about 3 miles) and DP looked at me like I'm bonkers. It's alright for him, he gets exercise at Footy a couple of times a week but I'm always with R!

wigglesrock · 10/05/2011 12:11

byronicheroine laughing at your dad and his current wife, I sometimes call Mr W my "first husband". My sister and husband are flying out on honeymoon on Fri 13th!!! They delayed it for a month or so, after the weding, am now very Envy.

Thank you your smoking well dones, Mr W is smoking on the sneaky but I'm just going to let on I haven't cottoned on!!! I can smell a cig at 5 miles away, sometimes I feel sorry for the girls when they become teenagers, nothing worse than having a mum who knows all the tricks Grin

Anna had her jabs this morning, she seems no grumpier than usual!!!

ledkr Mr W is almost the opposite, kissy, huggy with me, a bit too feathery strokery for me Grin, I'm a bit like your Dilly, think I'd bite the arm of anyone who tried to masssage me!!!

JustOneMorePlease · 10/05/2011 12:25

Hi everyone! I am a happy bunny have just had one whole hour to myself... With four lo that is bliss. Boys at school and dd1 and A both in their cots asleep! The two little ones usually don't nap at the same time or A falls asleep in the bouncy chair so is downstairs! Bummer is I thought 'yummy I'll have a buttery toast and milky coffee' (woo hoo push the boat out) it was the last two slices of bread and dh had obviously fiddled with the settings on the toaster and they both ended up burnt grrrrrr.

40 I have been starting to express during the day to make up one whopper feed for bedtime. A is one greedy bunny and seems still hungry after his last breast feed, one night he was screaming so I gave him a whole carton of formula which he promptly downed. I figure that by that time my supply has dropped and so if I gather some expressed during the day it can top him up at bedtime and then he goes through till 7 am. Also it is great to know he'll take bottles with bm or formula and the boob incase I'm needed somewhere else with the other dc's. However I can't advice on the actual expressing as it literally squirts out with just a manual pump (tmi?). Has any friends got an electric pump u can borrow or as tad suggested pumping when feeding off the other side- if you can prop baby up and have free hands!! Keep trying I think it'll come eventually.

ledkr · 10/05/2011 12:25

haha wiggles ill be taking a toyboy at this rate,it doesnt really help with the weight and self esteem issues altho i am sticking to my diet cos im determined to show him the old me. I just dropped him at work and offerred him my cheek when he went in for a kiss,he laughed and said why did you do that,i replied that he could hardly talk, staed at me for ages but i wouldnt look round,i then wheel spinned off haha.I know he loves me i just dont want to get in the habit of him taking me for granted cos im fat and at home Grin
My boys used to say that to me as i rang the mother of "the friends house they were staying at" Hmm Ex dh used to sneakily smoke, they think we are mad dont they?I never smoke in front of Ella cos really dont want her to.
I always call dh "my new and improvded husband"
Managed a whole Davina today with my creaky hip. Delilah has slept all morning even when moved from pram to car seat-this proves my point that she wakes too early, she wasnt even hungry, had 2 sips and went back to sleep dh says, going to try and get her back down tomorrow,i feel like my gran up at that time.

JustOneMorePlease · 10/05/2011 12:28

Whoops sorry about all the bold! Just over excited about the peace and quiet. They're both still asleep. Daft thing is I need to leave the house in less than an hour and dd and I need lunch and A needs a feed! Arr never happy!

ledkr · 10/05/2011 12:47

That sounds good 40,i did that when bf the 3 boys and if that didnt work i gave them some baby rice for supper Grin I have no idea about weaning now,i think D will be fine cos she has really gritty medicine mixed in pear puree and she loves it,smacks her lips and all haha.

40Weeks · 10/05/2011 13:46

Thank you for all the expressing advice, I was using a manual pump as can't find the plug in cord for the electric one. I think it was a bad time of day to try and start, but will persevere. A friend is going to lend me her elec one too.

Oh and sorry wiggles well done on the no smoking front, that's brilliant. I really laughed at the feathery strokery comment. I have no plans to let dh near me at the mo, poor love. I don't know why I just cant face the thought of it which is odd as I am normally the one climbing the walls!

ponyo how did you get on with the slimming top? Ds2 is 2.7 btw.

This will make you laugh girls - was trying on my new maxi dress while ds2 was eating his lunch. He said, "you look nice now mummy" and I chuckled as obv I had looked crap before. Then I took it off again and was in undies and he said, "don't like that one" so there was the kick up the diet butt if ever I needed one!
