Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lozario · 21/06/2011 21:28

Ah that's exactly what Lara does with calpol. I don't remember DS doing it at all!

I'm in south London so easiest way in is bus - I can get a bus all the way to Waterloo so I'd prob walk from there. Am thinking DD in sling, DS in lighter travel buggy...

cherub59 · 21/06/2011 21:31

Hi all
Appt went well - thanks all for your thoughts! Back on the antibiotics as infection still there but no abscess thankfully.....

Am hoping I can make the meet but may have to pop in to work that day.

hardlyshreddinghippo · 21/06/2011 21:49

I will be getting the train in to Waterloo. One buggy, no steps!
If the plan is still to meet at Southbank then no need for underground or anything. I am undecided as to whether to bring DD1, she'd probably like the outing, but not sure how long she's sit nicely for. Unless any of you plan to bring older ones so they'll have playmates?

Cherub glad appt went ok. Hope you can make the meet.

halo you poor thing, I hope you are all feeling better, and well done your dad for being your knight in shining armour. Smile

I went to my appointment last week at St Thomas' Hospital, for this EAT study thing, and we have been put into the early introduction group. So basically I will be giving Beth tiny amounts of 'allergenic' foods; fish, egg, milk, peanut etc, one at a time, slowly over the course of a few weeks. This is all alongside the continued BF, for at least 6 months as well.
I gave her her first tiny taste of baby rice today, she didnt seem fussed either way! Didnt ask for more, but didnt seem to dislike it either... just you watch, I bet she'll sleep through for the first time tonight just to make a point lol. She is only just over 14 weeks.

It is all very closely monitored, she has had screening already in case of existing allergies (none) and have been told not to give wheat until at least 4 months.
I'm quite pleased to be put in this group, as I think trying to exclusively BF til 6 months would do me in!

If I hadnt signed up for this study I think I would have aimed for BLW and probably expected to start at around 5 months. It will be interesting to see how we all get on with this next stage of babyhood.

sam26oscar · 21/06/2011 21:53

Evening ladies, sorry not to reply by name but posts on previous page and tried once to look back for names but lost my post Grr!!

Yes massive growth spurt at 12 weeks, i remember going to primark for post baby jeans as i was foolish enough to think i would be able to get by with leggings and one pair of large jeans...silly silly girl, should have known that i would need a whole new (cheap cos i will lose that weight Wink) wardrobe and feeding Cassie pretty much every 1.5hrs that day, the ladies in debenhams knew my name by the end of the day!! it lasted 48hrs for us.

I shall be putting off weaning til i come back from Spain as i really can't be arsed with all that when i'm on holiday!! I shall just have to get my baps out more often than i do now if she decides to become more hungry that week!! If however she really needs it of course i will, but at the moment she gags on water from a bottle or cup, and can't sit up unaided, so i think i'm pretty safe that she will be ok for the next month!! Although.. she says clapping her hands in excitment, today i put Cassie on her playmat whilst i stuffed my face at a friends Wink and watched as she wriggled around 360 degrees over 25 mins, she definetly couldn't do that 3-4 days ago...could it be that now she's mastering that skill she may go back to a normal sleep pattern ( she asks down on her knees praying!!)

cassie is probably one of the if not the eldest as she was born 24th Feb, so she's 16 weeks.

After reading that most of your babies get dressed i put an outfit on her today!!! She looked so much older and not sure if i liked it... seeing her look older that is not the outfit!!
anyway have been trying to watch Holby on pause since 8pm so will watch it properly now! Goodnight!

Lozario · 21/06/2011 22:02

hippo how old is your older DD again? My DS is 2. He'll definitely be coming with me as no one nearby to look after him.

Muser · 21/06/2011 22:04

I've suggested the Royal Festival Hall for the meet, plenty of room then for older kids to crawl/run about if they want to - rather than being stuck in a restaurant. There are no steps to negotiate to get to it, it has lifts and a nice baby change as well. And good cake.

OP posts:
hardlyshreddinghippo · 21/06/2011 22:13

Oh you sold it to me with the cake Muser!

My DD has just turned 4, but she likes cake too Wink
Will see what others say, and then decide.

Enjoy Holby sam and when you off to Spain lucky thing?

Medee · 21/06/2011 22:22

I am jealous of the meet. No one is in north east Scotland are they?

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/06/2011 22:29

I can't make the meet, very jealous!

Poor Izzy still coughing away but happy in herself until about an hour ago...struck down by a nasty bout of trapped wind! Hoping she settles.

I'm also hoping to delay weaning until after pur hol in Spain at end of July. Izzy is now 16 weeks.
cherub glad you boob is ok. must have been a relief!

cherub59 · 21/06/2011 22:46

As I squeeze into bed and gaze at my sweetly slumbering baby, I ponder....how the heck does such a small person FILL a super king size bed?????

Purplefan · 21/06/2011 22:47

Hi all,

Sorry not been around for a little while... you guys have been chatty!! Wink
Beth is doing really well, weighed in today at 14 weeks at 8lb 11oz, so she is really stacking the weight on now!! Wink she is getting little chubby cheeks now and is looking longer, but still has her own little curve at the bottom of the chart in the red book Grin!
I've been invited to a 3 week course of baby massage, it starts on Thursday and runs for an hour each week... it is totally free so am taking them up on the offer and looking forward to that!!!
I have also been invited to a weaning class in July... I know some of you have been talking about weaning... I can't think about weaning Bethan just yet as she is just so small!!! I am also not sure about going to a weaning class as this is my 2nd Baby, surely things haven't changed too much in 5 years!!! or maybe they have!!

Feeling bit guilty about DD1 because had a letter home from school to say the routine hearing and vision tests that they have in reception indicated a possible problem with her eyes and she is being reffered to hospital for further tests..... you'd think as her Mother and (being a teacher) I might've noticed something!!!!!!!! Blush

Sorry not coming to London meet-up, I am not confident driving in/around London and also looked up train ticket prices and it was quite pricy from Swindon!!! Happy to meet up with anyone in/around this area though - Bristol (cribbs maybe?)

Hope all well x

sam26oscar · 22/06/2011 07:35

purplefan i can do Bristol as live in Weston super Mare Grin
Hallelujah, cassie slept from 7.30pm til 4am with a brief wake at 1am but interestingly i tried a dummy and she kept it in long enough to go back to sleep! Maybe i have been doing it wrong and feeding her when really all she wanted was to suck and if i fed her after her long sleep early evening it was breaking her fasting and therefore thinking she needed to feed 3 hourly as we do after out breakfast?? hope that makes sense...it does to me but i know what i'm trying to say Lol!!
hardlyshreddinghippo am off to spain 21st July the day after my birthday Grin am taking Oscar out of school for last 2 days, i haven't asked the school - really do they do much on the last day??? i know we used to take games and toys in Smile

am taking cassie swimming agin today as my sister and niece are back from Belgium and live near Chippenham which is only an hour away, i can't remember who said about the neoprene swim suit but have got my eye on 2 on ebay Grin i love that site!!!

ckny1 · 22/06/2011 10:15

Sam am Envy about Spain! We're off to Dusseldorf this weekend for a practice run of our mega-US trip in mid July!

Kpidgeon, sometimes I feel as though we go through a growth spurt once a week b/c he eats and sleeps like a teenage boy!!! I'm sure they are, in fact, constantly growing!

Cherub, it seems as though you've suffered w/ this for a while and hopefully the antibiotics will work quickly!!!

Halo, LUV to your Dad, and hope you're feeling better!

Purple, well done to Beth with the weight and cheeks!!! She will LOVE the baby massage class! Hope your DD1's eyes are just fine! :)

Hippo, thanks for sharing the details of the study w/us!

Weaning...I spent the whole afternoon reading about it yesterday as the day before a doctor told me to start Franz at 4 months b/c of his weight & height, and his mild reflux. No other explanation. While I was previously eager to wean him to start on healthier food than formula crap, after reading all day about it, I'm not so sure 4 months is appropriate! He is still thrusting his tongue big time (very visible with the bottle these days). AND, I REALLY want to do BLW, which I understand should begin no earlier than 6 months. Then, DH and I discussed our US holiday and thought to wait until late August, which will be closer to 6 mo., so not yet sure what we'll do...Did find a fun blog on BLW, though for those interested: www.babyledweaning.com/ .

Am praying he doesn't enter this 4 mo sleep regression b/c we're having lots of fun these days! :)

We can do the Southbank meet-up if after 12! :)

pettyprudence · 22/06/2011 16:39

Purplefan & Sam I can do Bristol too as its less than an hour from Cardiff :) Shall I start somethinf on the fb page?

haloflo · 22/06/2011 17:40

On mastitus watch here. I have a blocked duct, felt shivery earlier with a temperature which has come down with some paracetamol. Appointment at GP's at 9am if I am no better. Got Hannah's second lot of jabs tomorrow too.

DP and I have already decided that we are having a takeaway as a treat this weekend. We deserve it!

Bristol is a bit far again for me. London meet up sounds lovely - take some photos and get them on the FB page.

Purplefan · 22/06/2011 19:53

Oh Haloflo - hope it gets sorted quickly!!

Petty and Sam lets try and sort something out to meet-up then. Petty if you could set something up on the fb page that would be great Grin

Both girls bathed and in bed asleep at 7.30pm tonight - DH is out on Motorbike day so did it all myself - gonna go and put feet up and chill out now. x

1Catherine1 · 22/06/2011 19:54

Hippo Grin @ name change!!

Would love to have come to the London meet up but we're going to Spain on Monday. I hope it goes well though.

We went swimming today and Anya surprisingly liked it considering how much she dislikes the whole bathing experience.

Sam - Taking LO out of school on the last 2 days won't do any harm. It'll be games and DVDs. Although i'm Envy at your end of term date, we're not out until the 27th July. If our finish date was the 22nd then I wouldn't be going back to school until September but now I have to go back for 3 days...

Better go - Anya has gotten herself in a peculiar position and didn't seem to appreciate me laughing at her Confused

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/06/2011 20:22

Arrrrghh just lost a mammoth post.

I can meet you at Waterloo Lozario (my bus comes in there too). My plan is to bring only E and use the pushchair as he likes to have a kick around these days and gets a bit angsty being held all the time. I can be a free pair of hands.

I am leaving DS2 for a day with daddy.

We plan on weaning when we get back from Turkey (we have taken 2 days authosried leave from school for DS1 - it wasnt a problem). However, if he really shows signs then a diet of aubergines and marrow from the start as these are the summer seasonal veggies - if I remember correc tly DS2 also had a bit ofgarlic thrown in. Hmm

Lozario · 22/06/2011 20:36

mixed that's great, just sent you a FB message.

purple I've done double bedtime on my own a few times too - it's ridiculous isn't it!! Getting the hang of it now though, but it's so much easier when DH gets home in time to help.

hardlyshreddinghippo · 22/06/2011 20:42

mixed poor you, it seems you always write long posts that then get lost!!
I will probably leave DD1 at home on Tuesday then, as I have a friend who will pick her up from pre-school and take her back for lunch and playgroup, so will be just myself and baby.

ckny it would be great if you can come! Will put the rest of any plans on the FB group.

Beth tried a tiny tiny taste of apple and mango that I made today. I mean tiny, as in a pea sized amount!
Lol at aubergine and garlic marrow for first tastes - even I dont think much of those two veggies! bleugh! Grin

When are you off to Turkey Mixed?

Am highly jealous of all of you lot jetting off to hot and sunny climes.

edeluna · 22/06/2011 21:28

Hello, hello! Have had family visiting for the past two weeks. Longest two weeks of my life, but it's over now, so I'm starting to reclaim my life. Yay!

Jealous of everyone's lovely holidays, whether it's sunny Spain or English campgrounds. Don't think we'll be getting away anywhere until September at earliest.

Can't believe we're already talking about weaning our LOs! S just turned three months and I'm planning to wait until six months to introduce solids -- unless she seems really ready for something other than breastmilk. I looked at the Eat Study and thought it interesting, but we're vegetarian, so I figured the fish thing would rule us out.

S has gone off her lovely long nighttime sleep pattern, so we're back to waking around 2am and again at 4. And after 4 she just doesn't sleep well at all, so I'm completely exhausted. Second round of jabs tomorrow and I'm worried about how unsettled she'll be afterwards and for how long.

Today she rolled over from her back onto her tummy! Then kept herself well entertained for quite a while trying to repeat it, but only managed a half turn. So cute.

London meetup sounds great. I've been meaning to drop in on the FB group; will try to get to that tonight or tomorrow. I've been shy/ambivalent about the whole real name thing.

sam26oscar · 22/06/2011 22:02

Sad Angry Sad Angry
Am both crying and angry with myself just spent best part of 20 mins addressing eveyone with comments and i just lost the lot.
So to recap! Yes to petty re fb page and meeting up Grin
i am so p*d off that i lost it i haven't got the heart to go thru it all again!! 1catherine1 you got me worried that i got the wrong term dates now!!!
edeluna glad you getting life back Smile
Whoever is going to USA am in awe of you i think its ckny???
Well, am off to head butt the wall nowGrin
Also best write to DH before he thinks we have forgotten him Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 22:21

Hope everyone has a lovely meetup next week, sadly we have plans with friends. boo!
Izzy is getting better slowly but surely. She has got laryngomalacia which made her cold worse but she seems to have gotten trhough it.
Have a lovely hol everyone who is off on travels. We are going to Spain in July!
Edeluna sorry to hear about your wake ups...I am hoping that doesn't happen here as I have gotten used to long sleeps!

I zumba'd with CKNY today...highly entertaining but good exercise.
Hope all the LOs are well...loving the cute pics on FB

cherub59 · 22/06/2011 22:35

haloflo hope you get sorted - that is exactly how I was - achey and shivery then sweaty and if anyone so much as breathed near my boob I could have cried! Hope you get antibiotics. Otherwise just keep feeding little one even though it hurts and try to massage out the blockage - hot bath/ shower helps and I found hand expressing much better than the pump though it hurt like hell!!!!!

Not sure I can make a lunchtime meet - I pick up my toddlers from nursery at 12 and they sleep 1-3.30 and turn into demented pixies without that nap! Ollie sleeps 12.30- 3.30 or 4pm and sleeps in his bed. Haven't ever got him to sleep in a pram! All quite social life limiting!

We too are doing a spot of camping in a few weeks - going to stay on manor farm from featherdown farms...Kind of "glamping" as not sure i would survive real camping but it gives the boys a raster for being on a farm!!!!!

sam26oscar · 23/06/2011 07:12

morning all,
well i have been up for half hour with cup of tea waiting for kids to wake ...maybe i should wake them up see how they like it Grin
Cassie slept 7.30pm til 3.15am and then fed her at 6.15am she's gone back to sleep and i went and got a cuppa!! i actually feel better for getting up in the peace and quiet rather than Oscar waking us all up at 7.ish after only just got back to sleep after the 6am feed!!
Cassie and i are off to baby sensory class today. Never been or even heard of it before, but it was in mum's diary which i think is a local whats on, though i may be wrong and its a national thing but with local to where you live information. anyway its especially for babies under 1 yr and involves music, puppets and light shows!! Sounds ace!! Hopefully she will like it Smile
well, Oscar just come in and is a bit confused as to why mummy is awake let alone on the laptop and eating custard creams Grin
will be back later!!
