Wrote a really long post yest. but lost it all so apologies for not writing more to people. Just to say halo we have the same thing here with feeding in the night- E is waking eery 1.5/2 hours to suckle and it's not hunger (he can go 4 hours in the day, mostly goes 3) but like you the boob is the easy option as he suckles for 10 mins then goes straight back to sleep. My HV suggested a dummy- which I got rid of last week! I don't want to go back to it as it just kept falling out so we'll see how things go..

Am so jealous of you guys who go longer in the night though! I really don't think that will happen with us until E realises that he can do other things with his mouth than suckling..

Pameladej · 08/07/2011 19:09

Hello weekend, come and give me a hug!! Wine

Pameladej · 08/07/2011 19:21

kpigeon Alex does the same and (this might sound mean) but I started waiting for him to proper cry (rather than grizzle) for a minute before picking him up to feed him and in that minute he quite often finds his thumb and goes back to sleep. This works until about 4am when he definitely wants a feed. Now he can sometimes go straight through to 4 without waking me. Now just to eek that 4am out ...

KPidgeon · 08/07/2011 20:02

Really Pameladej? Interesting as my mum said to let him cry properly.. (I guess that's what would happen if he was in another room to us). Maybe I will try that, or at least not jump up at the smallest little whimper/cry- I'll see what happens tonight... I keep waiting for a miracle to happen and for him to magically go from 10pm to 7 am and surprise us both!

me23 · 08/07/2011 20:09

Ethan is 16 weeks today! Time has flown, I haven't had him weighed since he was 10 weeks oops. He can't roll over but cN go from back to side, he hates tummy time I bought a tummy time mat today with a pillow to put under him but he still hates it and won't lift his head up je just lays face down :-( also bought a bumbo and he falls to one side in it and slightly forward he doesn't look very supported. But he smiles loads and laughs a lot there's nothing nice than making my baby laugh it is so cute.

I wish he would nap for longer in te day I still feel like he hasn't got a set routine he chops and changes a lot but it seems like most people know their babys feed and nap times but I don't I just feed him when he's hungry and he falls asleep when he's tired and I never can be sure when these will be, anyone else?

Muser · 08/07/2011 20:09

I'd agree with the waiting to see if he falls back asleep himself. I'm not an advocate of controlled crying or anything, but I know at the beginning I used to jump at the slightest peep but if I left it a second quite often my girl would fall back asleep.

Doesn't work at the moment, when she wakes up she's very much awake. Her sleep is shocking at the moment. I despair of people asking me how she sleeps now.

Pameladej · 08/07/2011 20:25

I know what you mean me23 I feel that I should have a routine as it seems that most other mum's with babies the same age do. I just put Alex down in his cot (or pram if I'm out) the second I see Alex put his thumb in his mouth and rub his eyes. The only vague routine I have is that I then change his nappy and feed him when he wakes up.

Honestly kpigeon it worked for me! I used to pick him up at the first whimper and never gave him a chance to go back to sleep. First time I left him for a minute it worked!

Pameladej · 08/07/2011 20:26

Ps. I don't mean it to sound like Alex always sleeps through to 4am as he most certainly doesn't!

33goingon64 · 08/07/2011 21:45

Hi girls. I don't know for sure but I suspect Tom is the oldest baby in this group (born 1 march). If it helps to know, he has changed so much just in the last two weeks. He has just (literally in the last 10days) started to not hate tummy time. He still only goes for a minute or so but seems happy there when he never used to. I put him in his boppy cushion (the donut shaped cushion I use for feeding) with his arms over it like a sphinx and he stays there while I dangle toys to get him to lift his head. He never would have done this 2 weeks ago.

I am getting more strict about putting him in his cot when he looks tired (rubbing eyes etc) which generally occurs around 10am and 1pm. Even if he's wide awake when I leave him he generally goes off to sleep eventually. If he is actually crying I go to him.

He survived his third imms today - three jabs in total. Of course he screamed but he had granny and grandad to soothe him to give mummy a break.

Have nice weekends everyone!

Muser · 08/07/2011 22:03

Not quite the oldest 33, some of us have February babies due to early arrivals. My girl was born on the 15th Feb. I completely agree on the changing so quickly though. Mine has gone from loathing tummy time, to starting to enjoy it, to rolling all over the place to the point that she ended up nearly under the table today - having been left in the middle of her playmat. It is an amazing time.

So anyone worrying about tummy time, I'd say don't. They'll start enjoying it soon enough and before you know it you'll have to watch them like a hawk!

Lots of people to respond too but iPhone app won't let me look at thread and post so sorry I can't remember who commented what!
Haloflo- as to my boudoir arrangements Grin ollie is currently in the middle spreadeagled as usual. When gets a but wrigglier i will stick a pillow next to him as they can't roll up hill! However before he got poorly I was putting him to bed at night at 7.30 in his cotbed as I am concerned he will shimmy off the edge. You could put a bed guard on or there are bed sheets you can buy with blow up bed guards in them.... Think u can get double size???

Agree on listening to baby snuffles fir a few minutes rather than rush to stick boob in mouth. If you wait just a minute or two you might be surprised. Am not talking let baby cry as I SO don't believe in cc but give baby a chance!!!

Bumbo chairs - can be great - and indeed I posted a piccie of ollie sitting in one at playgroup today for the first time. Would caution to be careful tho as ds1 backflipped out of bumbo chairs from very early on. Put a cushion behind them just in case!!!

Tummy time ok here but no attempts to roll over! Bit like a tortoise on it's back.... Lots of leg and arm waving and not much else!!!!

Sweet dreams all.....

sam26oscar · 09/07/2011 07:55

33 my little girl was early and born 24th feb, so just turned 19 weeks and agree with muser in how much they can change in a week let alone 2!!
kpidgeon i used to jump up to Cassie as i thought she was hungry and she used to just suckle, and i did give her a dummy but like you took it away from her as she couldn't hold it in, but interestlingly i gave it to het last week and amazingly she held it in long enough for her to go back to sleep, now she has it during the day just for going to sleep
me23 absolutely no routine here either just when she starts rubbing eyes, generally around 10 ish and 1ish and again sometimes 5ish Grin
Cassie has started to go back to once a night feeds now thank flipping Godand tends go to bed at 7.30pm and wake at around 2-3am then through til 7ish.

Cassie loves her tummy time, she thinks shes very clever Grin and plays with toys in front of her squealing and screeching...anyone elses baby got to that stage yet, its ear piercing but so cute Smile.
She's not overly keen in the bumbo and would much prefer to sit on someones lap thank you all the same!!

Well, s'pose better get up Cassie lying in her cot playing for last half hour looking at me throught the bars thinking "really mum are you going to get me up or what!!!" God knows what Oscar doing !!! Getting changed into more football kit, that kid changes at least 5 times a day, he's worse than a supermodel on the runway LOL!!!!
Hope you all have good weekends Smile

KPidgeon · 09/07/2011 09:53

Thanks folks- we had a better night. Was every 2.5 hours rather than 1.5 but even then I could have probably left him longer.. will try again tonight to leave him as we had a phase a few weeks ago of him going 4/5 hours straight so would love to get back to that!

E likes tummy time but accidentally rolls back to his back when he's up on his tummy and then cries a lot as he can't understand how it happened! I'm looking forward to the rolling happening the other way but we'll have to get more rugs for our front room as the cottage we're renting has wooden floorboards AND we've had slugs (yuk). So that's a bit of a worry. I won't take my eyes off him anyway but will have to be vigilant about what's on the floor...

Hope you all have nice weekends.

ckny1 · 09/07/2011 10:23

KPidgeon, glad that your night was better, it seems you'll get back to longer stretches of sleep soon! :) I'm in awe of you and Sam for daring to take the dummy away at nap or sleep time. You've inspired me to try this slowly.

Also, rolling back onto the back is a big development! Franz only did it once, but seems to have forgotten.

My baby is 4 months today!!! Such a big boy, literally. My upper body aches from his chunkiness! :) He's starting to tolerate tummy time, even gave a small chuckle the other day (or hiccup?), but MUCH prefers standing with my support! Hmm Takes up to 7 steps with his right foot only. Like a bull getting ready to attack...

A lovely and windy weekend to all!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 09/07/2011 19:46

Had so much to sya to you all and now cant remember anything.

The one thing I can remember is, Holland Park is absolutely doable for me (I am around Camden) - not sure where Ravenscourt Park is but from the chatting it sounds close-ish.

sittinghippo · 09/07/2011 20:36

Wow I just noticed the number of messages in this thread! When did that happen??

GeekLove · 09/07/2011 20:47

Hello folks! Sorry for the absence how did the meet up go?
DS2 is huge! 7kgs already from estimating him but haven't had him weights for 3 weeks!
He is still waking up once at night but he is so quiet. It doesn't seem like hard work to simply put him in bed and give him milk.'16'weeks today- how time had flown.
