Do anyone else have a sicky baby Ethan vomits a lot and I often go through 5 clothes changes almost in a row! Hope he grows out of it soon.

Also anyone elses baby still want to be held all the time? E has for a bit better but most of the time I am stuck on the sofa holding him all day and night. I can't use a sling as it hurts my back. I ask OH to hold him so I can eat or go to the loo but as soon as E starts crying hands him back saying he wants milk, when I've just fed him! It's all stArting to take it's toll now and even though I'm so tired I amfindingnit hard to sleep.

I wish I felt confident to go to groups but they all take so long to get to and I'm worried I won't be able to hold an adult conversation. Also the brake on my pram is broken and I have no idea how to get it fixed(it's 2nd hand, so can't take it to a shop) so I can't use buses at the moment.

KPidgeon · 23/06/2011 10:56

me my E is like that too. He's happiest being held all the time and doesn't like being put down at all. Sometimes needs must though and he protests then generally settles when I put him in his chair. Do you have a chair? We are still using the dummy a bit so if he rages about being put down I do still use it- it generally falls out after a couple of mins and by that time he's calmed down.

He's found his thumb so is using that at night time to fall asleep.

Sorry you're not feeling up to going to groups. I've been walking miles to get to a couple and it really helps me mentally- E is totally distracted and stimulated and even if he gets a bit grouchy there it somehow doesn't seem such a big deal when there are other adults and kids around to distract me.

Lozario your LO and mine have the same birth date- April Fool's day babies!

We put E in his big cot bed yesterday- he's been in a cradle up until now. He looked so tiny in there, even though people had been telling me all day how old he looks for 12 weeks! He did sleep, though we're still on a 2 hourly feed. Really hope he goes back to 3/4 hours soon as I'm pretty run down. Got a blooming cold sore now so am worried about kissing him!

pettyprudence · 23/06/2011 11:17

Me Arthur is a champion chucker Grin. I only change his clothes if he's really drenched though.

Despite his chucking up, I had Arthur weighed yesterday when he turned 12 weeks and weighed in at 14lb 11 oz - just 3oz short of doubling his birth weight Grin I think he would have made it had he not done a massive wee all over the place just before hand!

In other news, I have started the dreaded hair loss......

hardlyshreddinghippo · 23/06/2011 11:24

Edeluna I know the feeling, once you've had to share your home with visiting family it's so nice to get the place back to yourself! And 2 weeks is quite a long stay...
Is that you that's added on to FB? Welcome if so, its really strange knowing peoples real names, but I'm not sure why exactly. I meet people every day and it never strikes me as strange when they tell me their name lol.
Hope you can make it for the meet, I'm actually terrified!!
I think because I'm secretly in awe of all you mums, and I have built up personalities and images of all of you, and they are bound to be completely wrong...

me23 I feel for you, I really do. I think you may have to go byKpidgeons advice and put him down when you can.
I would try plenty of tummy time, Beth used to get so upset when laid down on her back, and it became apparent that she was only comfortable when on her tummy, or being held up against me (also supported her tum) She has become a tummy sleeper, from week 1, even though I got a slight frown from HV, it has been a life saver.

Sam I went along to baby sensory when Beth was 6 weeks. I hated it! Grin Might have been the sickly sweet and patronising lady that ran the group though, but I never went back. Let us know how you get on, I think the principal of it is great, just that group wasn't for me.

I have been taking Beth to baby massage though which we both love.

Cherub I'll let you know how it goes with camping. Shame you cant make it to the meet up but I understand about nap times. They are Sanity Breaks!

hardlyshreddinghippo · 23/06/2011 11:24

Ah yes petty the hair loss.... harumph.

cherub59 · 23/06/2011 11:38

Well recent grisliness explained by appearance of first tooth today. Great combo with mastitis!!

hardlyshreddinghippo · 23/06/2011 13:32

Wow cherub! A tooth! This must be the first one on here?

Scary to think this time a year ago I was a tiny bit pregnant and didnt even know it. Now here we are with teeth and rolling over and weaning looming...

pettyprudence · 23/06/2011 13:57

wow cherub! I think Arthur was teething over the weekend but I don't think a tooth is imminent.

me forgot to say that the conversation at baby groups isn't particularly taxing!

haloflo · 23/06/2011 16:15

Hi all - feeling fine today. BF counsellor reckons I had inflammatory mastitis which eases as soon as the breast is drained. I was soaked in sweat last night though- maybe that was the fever breaking?

Still got a blocked duct though. Brilliant excuse for a long hot bath tonight I think! H has fed better today so am much more comfortable.

Cherub You really have my sympathies - feeling like that for just a few hours was awful - no idea how you are coping! Congrats on the tooth!

edeluna Hope your jabs went ok. Congrats on the rolling over! Just out of interest are you going to wean S vegetarian? I was vegetarian for many years but eat chicken, fish and tuna now. I am unsure whether to give H other meats which I don't eat. What are you going to do?

sam I hope you & cassie enjoyed the sensory class. There is a sensory room at my local children's centre with bubble & lava lamps and toys. H loved the lights in particular.

me Are you ok? You sound really down. Do you need to talk to your HV? It is horrid being tired but not able to sleep & exhaustion makes everything seem hard. I saw a thread in sleep which might help with ideas on how to get him to sleep elsewhere although they all seem to have quite a bit of money! No idea how to get a pram fixed. Could you pick another up on gumtree or the like?

I would second a dummy if you aren't using one. Brilliant, amazing things which send my baby to sleep. She spits it out when asleep but that doesn't wake her.

kpidgeon I am dreading the 3 month growth spurt. I feel so much alive on 3/4 stretches (something I never thought I would say!)

petty Congrats on the weight gain! What's this about hair loss?! I hope you don't lose too much.

2nd lot of jabs today - so far so good. In fact Hannah was in a great mood when we got home and has started rocking to one side. She can move around the playmat a little doing this which is great for giving her a new view. She is currently napping & I am hoping for a normal night. Oh wait- shes awake now.

hardlyshreddinghippo · 23/06/2011 17:40

hair loss

LovelyKatie · 23/06/2011 17:59

Hi everyone
The floors of my flat are like a hairdressers!

Iv lost so so much I can just pull it out in clumps so easily it's caked all over me my brush looks like iv never cleaned it before and I find it all over Lucy it's in her basket in between her fingers everywhere! And getting up this morning it was all over my sheets!!

I was worried as last year I went through a really bad period of hair loss and it was like q vicious circle as the more I stressed about it the more it came out!!

On a different note Lucy rolled over yesterday!! Twice! She was so made up with herself she was growling trying to get on her belly it was frustrating her but in the end she got it and looked like 'what the he'll have I just done' haha.

I'm very jealous of the meet up I'd love to see everyone is there anyone living within merseyside?? I doubt there is though

Hope everyone is well and enjoying life with a new addition!
Love to all

X

edeluna · 23/06/2011 21:26

Hairloss, oh yeah. I didn't think my hair had really gotten all that much thicker during pregnancy but now that it's falling out I realize I must have been wrong. I keep finding huge clumps of it everywhere!

Haloflo Both my husband and I have been vegetarian for more than twenty years and unless there's some serious health issue that only adding meat to baby's diet will solve, we plan to keep the household meat-free. She's absolutely thriving on my vegetarian breastmilk, though, so not anticipating any problems. If she decides to try meat later in life, I'll be fine with that (I think), but we do want to raise her veggie.

hippo Yes, that was me joining the FB group today. I know what you mean about feeling nervous meeting everyone in person. I'm sure it will be fine, though. However ...

FYI to anyone planning on going to the London meetup: there's apparently a Tube strike scheduled for the 28th. Not sure of the details, but it could throw a nasty wrench into the meetup plan.

Jabs went pretty well today. S cried a bit, but quickly calmed down and wasn't as unsettled the rest of the day as she was after the first jabs. Yay!

Can't believe teeth are already coming in. S is showing signs of teething, but no actual tooth yet. I know they'll be cute, but I'll miss her toothless little grin once they do start coming in.

sam26oscar · 23/06/2011 22:10

how is everyone doing a massive post and not geting timed out?? I must be really slow cos again just spent ages replying to you all and its lost Angry..... not doing it again > !!!!
cassie really loved the baby sensory class he was fab and really made you feel welcome and sung the loudest so you didn't feel like a plum when you went wrong Blush
me although your pram is broken is there a park you could walk to i find going for a walk calms Cassie down and would at least give your arms a restSmile My sister got very down after her baby and she took berroca tablets, like a tonic, from Boots she said it energised her and lifted her a little.
right well, i am still sulking!! if anyone else knows the secret about it not timing out then could you pass it on please!!!

cherub59 · 23/06/2011 22:15

Yes will miss those toothless grins- ollie is desperately trying to chew everything but can't yet hold anything long enough to get relief! Nelsons teething crystals are great though - homeopathic so nice and gentle. His face is hilarious after he has it as he looks stunned like "what the heck is this?" then beams when he realises it tastes nice! Not so keen on bongela!!

I definitely don't recommend travelling in London if there is a strike. As I'm not working and commuting at the moment hadn't registered there was a strike!

Sorry those of you losing hair - that was one of the perks of pregnancy!!!

Muser · 23/06/2011 22:44

Oh dear. If there's a strike we should maybe reschedule. I don't need the tube to get in but guessing some people will be. Maybe we could do the following Tuesday?

1Catherine1 · 24/06/2011 01:39

Sam - I have a dodgy connection so before I post I ctrl-c it all (Copy it) and if my connection goes off I can just ctrl-v (paste) to get it back :)

Me - I understand how you feel. Today Anya not only cried when I put her down but hysterically screamed like she was in real pain. I picked her up again and she calmed down. I'm sure they'll grow out of it soon but for now we just have to accept they want their mummy. My OH is equally as useless Wink. He cannot cope with her crying even in the car this afternoon she started because she was tired and wanted to fall asleep in my arms but since I was driving she had to be left, I could see his getting fidgety and irritable at it and I was neither as it was only a little cry. Then at home I was trying to do some washing so I can pack for Spain and she was crying again and he attempted to reason with her Confused men...

Anya still seems to be more sickly if I have a large dairy intake (Treated myself to a milkshake yesterday) so I'm wondering if she is still lactose intolerant. It is easy for me to limit but I hope she grows out of it soon since I rather like dairy. I've took to leaving Anya in a bib though when in the car seat otherwise she needs changing when she gets out because she manages to cover herself in saliva and sick which I suspect came up because she had her hands in her mouth. Hmm

As far as the baby groups and adult conversation - Main things you need to know to hold a conversation there is your baby's name, age, sex, sleeping pattern and feeding pattern and possibly a little bit about what you did before you became a mother but this is optional. Make the effort and go - it will make you feel much better to realize you are not alone. I got a cheap pushchair (£20) off e-bay last week (leaving it with the inlaws in Spain) so there are some bargains if you need one but I wouldn't let the fact the brakes don't work stop you from going anywhere. I never leave Anya when I get on the bus - I keep my hands on her pram! When you get where you are going take him out - he'll probably love it anyway :)

RE Hair - Mine didn't improve in pregnancy and was doing quite nicely until I dyed it last week when I lost ALOT. I guess I'll never know if it was going to happen anyway or happened because I dyed my hair.

Katie sounds like your LO is doing well. And wow to the first tooth coming through already cherub. Not sure if Anya's constant slabbering and hand sucking (mine or hers - she isn't fussy) is any indication of possible teething or just a comfort for her.

Now Sam, Having written a massive post that took me a good 20 minutes I'm now going to highlight it all, press so that if the worst happens I can get my post back using Grin

pettyprudence · 24/06/2011 10:13

Catherine I've had to cut milk and cream from my diet as it gives Arthur acid reflux - its a cows milk protein intolerance rather than lactose intolerance (there was a webchat about this recently on mn). You won't believe how much packaged food has milk protein added to it! Luckily I only need to cut out the direct source. So glad it worked though as the infant gaviscon is a pain in the arse. Not sure if they grow out of the intolerance?

pettyprudence · 24/06/2011 10:17

oh an dribble bandana bibs are ace if you don't want to leave a normal bib on all day. so easy to make too.

my dh is also useless but i am trying to give him more responsibility with Arthur and gentle guidance which turns into outright bossing and tearing whats left of my hair out

hardlyshreddinghippo · 24/06/2011 11:07

Just a quicky, but I am happy to postpone the meet til the following Tuesday. I'll change it on FB, and if its a problem for anyone we can just chose another day.
Love to all, sorry such a fly-by.

edeluna · 24/06/2011 12:05

A quick fly-by from me as well: the Tube strike for next week has now been called off.

But the new date for the meet up should be fine for me if we still want to move it.

Jupiter118 · 24/06/2011 13:58

Goodness you have been chatty - going back to read through... so just popping in to say hello.

Hols were fab - very hot though. Flights both ways ok - if you are pondering flying do it while babies are small - E was sooo much easier than DS (4).

Can't believe babies are getting so big people are beginning to ponder weaning - where does time go?

x

sam26oscar · 24/06/2011 18:57

1catherine1 thanks for that will do that in future Grin
Well, had to have the obligatory smear test this morning, quite uncomfortable and sooo undignified glad thats out of the way though!! Think my lady bits were a bit Shock at the sudden invasion as to be fair it hasn't seen any action in quite a few months Grin
Me hope you feeling a bit more upbeat today.
Have had to buy Oscar some news shoes as i tried a pair of sandals on him for his holiday and his big toe was hanging over the edge so i thought i had better get his feet measured Blush
i am going to have a look at the website bits and bobs which i have heard about for the dribble bibs, apparently you can get 10 for £19.99 in loads of colours and designs and 2 can have them names on them for free. Will look into it tonight if i remember and let you know!!
Well its fast approaching 7pm how do i know...cassie starting her whinging Smile

Bath, , feed and bed methinks!!!

hope you have good weekends xx

KPidgeon · 24/06/2011 19:58

Hi folks,
Can I ask another question? We thought E may be getting cold at night (hoping that may be part of the reason and therefore may help the 2 hourly feeding!) so have put him in a gro bag for the first time. So he's in a sleepsuit (longsleeve) light gro bag & 1 cellular blanket. The room is around 18 degrees c. Does that sound right? What do you guys dress yours in?

He always puts his hands behind his head (like he's sunbathing) so can't do much about chilly hands..

Thank you!

hardlyshreddinghippo · 24/06/2011 20:42

Kpidgeon that sounds ok. Beth has vest, long sleeved sleep suit and then grobag. I dont bother with the cellular blanket. If he feels warm or cold at the back of the neck that will be the best place to check.

petty I so want to make a dribble bib now. Do you have a pattern, I've googled so gonna have a go this evening.
Last week I made a Taggie, was so ridiculously proud of myself as am very much a beginner at this sort of stuff.

sam I had that dreaded appointment last week too. Wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be thankfully.

Jupiter glad you had a lovely holiday, I think you're very brave taking two on flights!

edeluna I've changed the date for London Meet for following week, cant wait to meet all those that can make it.

Night all, I'm off to play with my sewing machine!

sam26oscar · 24/06/2011 20:43

Kpidgeon cassie is in my room which is on average 22 degrees c, she wears a short sleeved vest, long sleeved babygro, 2.5 tog grobag and a fleece blanket...gosh that sounds a lot!! However it does drop quite a lot during the night. My friends boy is 7 months old and wears the same as E except he doesn't even have a blanket over him!! She says he gets really hot and sweaty at night, i would say if E is only waking when hungry he is warm enough??! Hope that helps Smile
