Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TribbleWithoutACause · 18/04/2011 21:07

Glad you're ok Spring and I hope DD takes some milk soon for you guys.

moonstorm · 18/04/2011 22:09

Just popping in to say 'hello' (if you remember me) and that I miss you all. I just can't keep up and wish I could.

BLW - have you tried forum.babyledweaning.com fab place. I'm there under a different alias.

xx

NoHenIntended · 18/04/2011 22:16

SF, I know it's easy for me to say, but you WILL get through the next 48 hours, as will R - she WILL take food if she is really hungry, and IF she doesn't, I don't think 48 hours without food is going to have a disastrously terrible affect - far from ideal, but not so dreadful she won't cope. Have you tried syringing some milk in? This too will pass, this too will pass. Hope you are feeling ok. Are you hoping for a DC4?! I'd love loads and loads!!! But getting on a bit, so we'll see! :)

moon, of course we remember you! How's it going? I am also on BLW.com, though I have only posted in the intro section. Really must try harder! Though BLW going great here, DS is a natural, and I am feeling rather confident. He had pancakes tonight! Roast dinner yesterday, curry the day before, loves everything! :)

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 19/04/2011 01:49

SF good to hear you have cone round and that they are pleased with it all. Really hope LO settles and takes some milk soon.

Moon-I waved at you on the foreign language thread-of course we remember you! I hope everything is going well, what's LO up to?

Back from holiday-2teeth and bum shuffling started, no wonder dd didn't sleep! :)

HarrietJones · 19/04/2011 06:51

Moon/Hun- I'm on BLW under my old name from here.

Dd3 started cruising yesterday AND using rolling as a method of getting places. Her sisters were only out for a few hours. I have told her to wait til after the summer so the garden is at least relaxing for this year!

Going to dr this am about legs & pnd ( if I can psych myself up enough)

floozietoozie · 19/04/2011 08:07

Spring I hope you are feeling better and Ruby has taken something. Good news that all is ok in there.

Hope you all have the sun where you are. It's so lovely here. Ds got over his bug really well so we can enjoy it.

Does anyone know if PFB is a term unique to MN? A new friend used it yesterday and I'm wondering if it outs her as a MNetter?!

SpringFlowers · 19/04/2011 08:51

All gone a bit wrong here overnight. Problems with blood pressure - too low and dehydration. Not able to move at all really as yet and much referred pain in neck and shoulders. Will be in for another night. Ovary is saved though so long term looks good.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 19/04/2011 09:07

NoHen (love the name!) How did you do curry? You're raising your DS vegan aren't you? Was it quick and easy to cook?

We're not really meat eaters in our family. I don't really like meat for the most part and I'm pretty allergic to most fish. The thing is I want DS to at least try fish and meat. I can do the meat part, but am at a bit of a loss on the fish part. Although if I'm allergic maybe I should be careful about that one.

Moon I see you hanging around the BF section quite a lot, how are you getting on?

Spring I hope things are ok today.

SilverSky · 19/04/2011 09:08

Morning all!

Same as moonstorm here! Do try and lurk a bit. But not up to date on all the news.

Weaning is going ok - I've started on purees as am too chicken non creative and my diet is shocking at the mo so can't give DS Easter Eggs every day can I? Grin

HarrietJones · 19/04/2011 09:29

Spring, hope it improves soon. It's a v good job you stayed in as at least you can be monitored more. Referred pain could just be from the poking about rather than actual op.

Tribble you're getting obsessed with curry Grin

NoHenIntended · 19/04/2011 10:20

SeaSh - two teeth - wow! I think yours is the first reported teeth, unless I missed someone saying so earlier. Woo.

ft, I'd not heard of PFB before here, but it could easily be getting around.

Re the BLW forum, this is me: www.babyledweaning.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22641, so if you wanna make yourself known to me, please feel free!

Spring, sorry to hear it's not going smoothly for you. :( Hope things get better very soon. At least your ovary is saved.

Tribble, yes, we are raising DS vegan. Why do you want your DS to have meat and fish? They are unnecessary.
Made DS pancakes last night - cute seeing his expression when the lemon hit!

Hi again, SilverySky. Nice to see you!

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 19/04/2011 11:41

HJ Blush I do seem to have posted a lot of curry related posts, I'm in a curry induced panic.

NoHen Personally although I think people can exist quite happily on a vegetarian and vegan diet, thats more my thing that my family seems to have followed by default (as I do most of the blinking cooking). I just want DS to have a broad range of tastes. DH is quite adventurous with food and I want DS to have that same kind of attitude.

Spring Sad I hope things get better soon.

Silver Hello there!!!

Do you remember the buggy dilemma, well we got a maclaren and the damn thing didn't fit in the sodding boot of the car. We ended up taking it back and then going to a local baby shop and trying out different buggies to see which ones fitted in without having to be taken apart like a jigsaw puzzle. Ended up getting a BCMJ.

SpringFlowers · 19/04/2011 15:24

Ooof. Just having a blood transfusion. Things are not going brilliantly here at all. Unexpectedly horrifically anaemic. R has eaten lots of pureed food but still not drunk anything. Petit filous have saved the day.

HarrietJones · 19/04/2011 15:42

That's something then spring. Transfusion will make you a new person , they work V fast. Not long for R now either

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 19/04/2011 17:18

Spring I echo what HJ said, they do work very fast and will make you feel so much better. I hope things get better for you guys. Not long now.

SpringFlowers · 19/04/2011 19:09

You were right HJ - I feel much much better already. Although I have very quickly realised feeling better in my head is not the same as a tually being better. Very very tender tummy and still can't walk unaided. I've just exhausted myself getting to the loo. Probably go home on Thursday ready for the weekend. It's going to be a while 'til I'm back to normal and I won't be able to drive for a bit.

Thanks everyone for saying nice things while I've been unwell. Ruby drank 5oz of formula this afternoon. Although I hate idea of formula I am so relieved that she is drinking.

HarrietJones · 19/04/2011 19:32

Formulas much better than anaesthetic & opiates!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/04/2011 20:22

Whoopee! Ruby ate! Good for her. Grin. I hope you start to feel better soon SF. Will she feed with you lying down? That may be the best position for you with the sore tummy. Also the rugby hold position might be good too.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 19/04/2011 21:12

Brilliant stuff!!! Good for Ruby!!! Hope you feel better soon SF.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/04/2011 21:23

Is funny- I was so looking forward to BLW and I have a DD who is BLW in her own way- she prefers to be fed and lets me know when she doesn't want any more which is her way of weaning I suppose, but I was looking forward to her helping herself to what we were having and she prefers to be spoonfed. Its still interesting trying new stuff out of her. 2 recipes I've come up with for anyone interested in purees are:

Veg Curry:
2 asparagus sprouts, 1 stick of purple sprouting broccoli, a few cubes of sweet potato and one carrot steamed then pureed with a dash of cumin, 1/4 tsp of ginger and a drop of garlic infused olive oil. Tastes like curry and DD loves it.

Fruity porridge:
1/2 banana, 3 slices of tinned peach whizzed up then heated up. Add porridge and a splodge of natural yoghurt. It smells like barbecued banana and tastes sweet but not sickly.

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 05:55

Feeling much better. Having another bag of blood later this morning and should be able to go home tomorrow. Currently been expressing milk for an hour - woke up after 6 hours sleep with boulders for boobs! This is the first time I've had six hours sleep in a row for about 14 months.

Think this might be a bit of a turning point for Ruby. She has been eating 'real' food well over the past couple of days and will need much less milk from now on. She really prefers pureed food too Mocking which has suited us as it gets quantity of food in quickly. We have been using good quality purchased purees this week but I do want to make my own when I'm back to normal. For lunch yesterday she ate Ellas Kitchen. The whole kitchen I think. A sachet of pumpkin sweetcorn and pea, a petit filous and then a sachet of brekkie with baby rice and mango. And then she cried when it was all finished. Poor thing must have really hungry. Now I'm a bit better I'm going to express more frequently to get my supply up again. What a palava.

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 08:01

Glad you are feeling better, SF, and R is doing well too.

Happy Birthday, Tribble. :)

Up early as we have someone coming round to replace the gas meter - any time between 8 and 8 - hope they come soon so I can have a little slumber. Otherwise, I am stuck in all day long.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 20/04/2011 08:58

NoHen Oh boo! You poor thing, I hope they come soon. I've got the same tomorrow. I've got to wait for a package tomorrow so will be me and DS in the house all day. Oh and thanks! Grin

Spring Great stuff, I'm glad you're feeling better!

HJ Did you manage to get to the Docs?

SilverSky · 20/04/2011 09:14

DS is 24/25 wks! Cant remember exact age! How bad is that!

What quantities are your LOs eating? This am DS has scoffed one apple and mango Organix pot. Is that too much? I'm worried am overfeeding him! My own purees I've do small ice cubes and the large AKarmel cubes. Small cubes he has 4 or one of the large! Tho if it's a watery apple or pear I'll add rice.

Mock ace recipes! I've really enjoyed cooking for DS. For lunch today he has got Sweet pea and parsnip mash also has sweet potato in!

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 09:23

I hope they come soon, and not when I am in the middle of a nappy change or feed. Might have a package arriving today too, if not tomorrow.

How's your birthday going?

Sky, not much - I know some is getting through (nappy detective!) but as we are BLW, I know most of it is sucked and played with, then dropped! Still having lots of breastmilk. We are happy with this at the moment, not concerned at all.
