Same here! Still 5 bfs a day! Poos have definitely changed. More like proper poo.

I'm in all day as waiting for the car to be collected and returned. Any money says they rock up at the worst poss time.

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 10:04

Happy birthday tribble.

Went to GP yesterday but didn't really get everything sorted. Just blurted put the PND so went through that then had to do a questionnaire (scored v low Confused) he has given me meds ( have to psych myself up to take them now) and said come back in 3 weeks. Also suffering earache & hips/back etc but had been in for ages & just wanted to get out again. Will make double appt next time

Anyone's LO looking like hayfever? Dd3 has watery eyes like mine.

Dd3 is doing sucking & dropping too but bits do come through the nappies. Still feeding 5ish times a day + couple in the night. Woke at 3am last night cos she was babbling away at dh who was trying to sleep & she was getting louder heh-wo HEH-WO HEH-WO

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 20/04/2011 12:48

Oh bless her HJ. Well done for going to the docs. Perhaps a block appt for you next time?

Silver DD is eating quite a bit. I made up a pear and apricot compote last night and the AK book lent to me by my sister says it makes 8 portions. I know that its more like 4 for DD. I wouldn't worry about overfeeding if you allow your baby to guide you. DD shows when she's not interested by turning away or just keeping her mouth closed. She makes me laugh when I'm not fast enough and she's sat there with a gaping mouth. She also gets food to hold and mouth and some of that makes its way through. In a way I miss solely bfing as it was so much easier and the poos were positively fragrant in comparison! As for Bfs, we're still on the same amount per day with food as an optional extra. So, roughly its 4 times in the day and 1 or 2 times at night.

I'm glad the blood's making you feel better SF. Look after yourself.

Happy birthday to you Tribble! sparkly Wine for you!

SilverSky · 20/04/2011 14:04

I agree. Weaning is good fun! Have been batch cooking today and can't wait to introduce new flavours however I am finding it harder to get things done as I give him a bf an hour before food. Not too bad in the morning but the afternoons are a mare. Usually give him a bf around 2/230 and another one around 4/430 then his tea around 530 and bed around 7 for his last feed, then he doesn't get another bf til the following morning.

I went shopping last week with a pal but it was a nightmare as kept needing to stop to bf and then feed an hour later etc.

Oh and the new poo's are rotten aren't they?

Sorry for not name checking as I've no idea who anyone is cos of all the name changes!!!

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 14:23

Silver - I've messages you a list of the name changes!

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 14:24

Blush messaged

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 14:46

I was AbFab, in case anyone has forgotten!

Am still waiting for the gas meter exchange person. Hope I am not still waiting at eight in the evening.

SS, online shopping is my friend! :)

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 15:54

Been to baby group & were the only ones there :( dd3 had a good play & I chattted to the leader. Meant to leave early but got carried away & was actually late Blush

Sat in the tent in the garden feeding now. Dd3 getting on better with my parents, plated with Grandma while I sorted the GUinea pigs & didn't bother about me being out of sight!

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 15:57

Having a bit of a moment here. I'm going to feed Ruby shortly and I feel all teary and emotional about it. I'm such a wuss!

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 16:29

No you're not. Just been a mummy!

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 16:30

Being

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 17:31

There are probably not so many people who can say that they have breastfed their baby whilst receiving a blood transfusion! Was lovely to feed again but a little tricky with the line going in and bruising. It will get easier I'm sure.

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 17:54

I can spring! Though not a 6m old. One of the few feeds dd2 had. I had blood after my section

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 20/04/2011 19:07

Spring I fed DS when I had mine, I felt a bit macabre at the time. DH got a picture of it, suffice it to say it's not a fav of mine. It's ok once you get them latched though isn't it.

I've been a very lazy Mummy today, I was not at all prepared to go out with a baby who eats food. Normally it's just me, my nappies and the boobs. Today though, I got to my friends house and suddenly it hit me, oh no! DS has to have food. He had a piece of toast there which was fine. But I felt a bit stupid.

Oh and the poos are lovely aren't they, I've decided that flushable liners are my new best friends.

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 19:11

Clearly feeding while receiving transfusions is much more common than I thought!

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 19:20

Me too tribble though you'd think with two older ones I'd be used to meals by now Blush struggled with tea tonight cos was just me(veggie), dd2(fussy) & dd3.

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 19:21

Spring, you are doing great. And yes, it will get easier.

Still no gas man. Been up and ready since eight this morning, no nap at all. Grr. 40 more minutes til it's eight in the evening. If they don't turn up at all, I shall be rather displeased!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 20/04/2011 19:41

Thats pants NoHen. I find that these people turn up when I've settled down to feed DD.

Glad Ruby got a feed Spring keep your pecker up.

Been to the docs today for a hearing test which I passed Smile and also to discuss my general knackeredness, dizziness, racing heart and out of breathedness. Turns out she could hear a heart murmur so she's referred me for an echocardiogram to rule out anything dodgy (its probably nothing) and I'm having bloods done tomorrow for iron count, thyroid check and full blood count. Apparently if you have anemia or hyperthyroidism it can make your heart sound like it has a murmur. Or of course symptoms of a more serious heart murmur can be everything I've listed and they happen also to be symptoms of anemia and hyperthyroidism. So we'll see. At times the tiredness makes me want to cry.

I think its low iron as multi vits and minerals can help.

DH has arranged for us to see MIL and FIL on Sunday and spoke to his mum without talking through timings with me. I was thinking that if we left at 1000- DD's normal naptime, she'd sleep the whole way there, we'd get there in time for lunch, then we could walk on the beach, have tea and leave early evening. It would have worked out well. DH has arranged to get there for 1000 which will mean us setting off at 0730. Marvellous. That will mean DD up, us all dressed and fed (because she has a BF then 45 mins later some porridge), dogs walked and out of the door. He thinks this is reasonable. The sheer thought of having to be up and totally ready so early makes me want to cry and it'll also cock up naps. As DD tends to have one giant nap a day and maybe a catnap late afternoon, sleeping so early then expecting her to get through the day from 1000 wil be impossible and she won't have anywhere decent to sleep when she gets there as she's not one of those babies who will sleep on a clothes line, so unless our walk lasts over an hour and it won't as FIL has bad hips, any naps will be attached to me and she'll be grumpy fussy pants all day I guarantee it.

Sorry for the long moany post.

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 20:09

Mock, can it not be rearranged? Surely you and your baby's needs come first, unless it's an emergency?

Well, no engineer turned up. I am so so hacked off. I have just called the call centre to be told the engineer called round but there was no answer. No, he did not - I was here all day. Also says there should be a note through the door saying they called by - but there is no note. I think the engineer took the afternoon off! I am so exhausted I could cry. :( All damn day I've been stuck in, up horribly early, no nap as I knew I needed to listen out for the door. Grrr.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 20/04/2011 20:19

Thats rubbish NoHen especially as you're normally up later and sleep later.

No, I talked to DH about it and I don't think he gets it. Gave me the guilt trip bit about how we don't see them that often so it shouldn't be a trial for me- which wasn't the point. I really don't want to be one of those mothers who bangs on about the importance of routine as we do go with the flow mostly, but I've been trying to establish a decent nap for DD and working the travelling into it would have been brilliant.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 20/04/2011 20:23

Nohen I'd kick up merry hell if I was you and demand an apology, seriously they've totally lied to you and you've been stuck in all day.

Is it ok for DS to be having bread most days? He has been having toast with puree spread on it at lunch times or some bread sticks.

NoHenIntended · 20/04/2011 20:40

I know, I am soooooooo annoyed! All darn day, stuck in. And I usually sit around in my pants but I had to be presentable too, so not even properly relaxed. Grrr. I did complain to the call centre worker, but wasn't really her fault, what can you do!

I had to buy a new nappy to cheer myself up! :)

Mock, I'd try harder! If it will really screw up your sleep patterns, it's important he understands. OR, he deals with a grouchy baby!

BirthdayGirl, I don't know about the bread. My guess would be it's fine, as they really aren't eating a huge amount really. Hope someone wise will be along for you soon!

HarrietJones · 20/04/2011 20:53

Bread is high salt but since he won't be eating a great deal I don't think you should worry yet. Read somewhere one whole slice is a days salt.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 20/04/2011 21:47

You could make your own bread Tribble with less salt? I think salt is pretty important in the cooking process though.

Thanks for your support NoHun I agree with letting DH sort out grouchypants but I know she'll just want to bf all day!

SpringFlowers · 21/04/2011 07:20

Mocking - I always get into awkward situations like yours with my in-laws. I end up looking like I don't want to see them or like I'm a pain. When I last saw them in Feb (they are abroad) R was a bit unsettled and cried if anyone other than me so much as looked at her. I really feel for you. I would try to convince your dh that the time his parents have with dd will be much more pleasant for them if you arrive a little later - ultimately he wants her to bond with them so you might be able to talk him round.

Just spoke to dh in the phone - R slept from 8 - 7. Humph. Feel a bit hopeless, she never slept for more than three hours before. I disappear off the scene and 11 hours sleep. Humph again.

I think my milk supply is diminishing so R is on her way in for a day of feeding. I'm going to need a day of eating and drinking to help boost production (currently eating fruit cake!).

Now that I have all my faculties about me I realise how lucky I have been and how awfully ill I was. We were very lucky to have private healthcare too as I've had my own room and exceptional care. As soon as I'm allowed I'll be off to find somewhere to give blood and be convincing everyone I know to do the same.

Hen - have you got to stay in today for a new gas meter man? If they left a card do you think he went to the wrong house/flat? You wouldn't want that to happen twice!
