Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dd3 was 7lb 8 born, can't remember how much she lost but was birth weight by day 8 ish. Last week 14lb 10 , only put on 3oz in 3 weeks but had been ill for a week at that point. So not a lot of help really. What is she on centile charts? If her height/weight are similar points I wouldn't worry. Dd3 is at the smaller end but so are we!

Elsa123 · 29/03/2011 20:42

ilgh I have no idea how much DD weighs, she hasn't been weighed since January. The HV sessions are really inconvenient. She was 5.5lbs at birth and over 10lb on her last weigh in.

NoHun Wow at your DS! Good catch as well btw.

Cheese i think you were right about the teething thing. DD also had blood in her drool today. has anyone else's DCs had this?

floozietoozie · 29/03/2011 21:35

ILGH dd was obviously early, but she was 5lb 15oz or 2.68kg at birth, lost loads of weight down to 5lb and by around 20/22 weeks she was 12lb 7 I think. She's 26 weeks now and I don't know what she weighs but will find out on Thursday for six month check. She was on the 25th centile for weight at the last check.

Can't believe your ds is crawling NoHun. I feel guilty because dd doesn't get enough tummy time by far (although she's still not keen on it generally) which obviously isn't going to help on the crawling front, although for gross motor skills I'm adjusting her age so she's only five months tomorrow by the reckoning. Any milestones like that just seem amazing to me as ds didn't do any of them - he didn't crawl until he was nearly two. Tbh I'm not going to know what to do with dd assuming she does crawl at something like normal time!

Those who are blw, can I just ask if you get nervous about choking? I gave dd some banana to gnaw on and she's got such a strong suck I was concerned she was going to vacuum the whole piece into her windpipe. I bought a pile of fruit and veg today to convert to baby food. Now I just need to find the energy to do it.

NoHunIntended · 29/03/2011 22:30

ILGH, I don't know how heavy DS is, sorry. Can you check with GP/HV that she is on the chart?

Blood in drool? Eek! Glad I am forewarned on that - I think I'd freak if that happened and I wasn't prepared.

Thanks re 'good catch' praise! I could see it coming, knew it was only a matter of time.
He just pulled himself up to standing tonight too (using the footstool to pull up with)!

Please don't feel guilty your DD doesn't get as much tummy time as you'd like. Some babies like it, some don't. They go at their own pace, it's all good.

We give him loads of nappy-free time, and I think that may help - no hindrance to his movement - no extra bulk, weight or restrictions to his wriggly bum. This is easy for me, as he is my only child. I also take him swimming pretty much every other day, and this is meant to strengthen them. He loves swimming, and kicks his legs.
And he's been using his Jumperoo for a while too, so perhaps that helps too.
Plus, I have one of the oldest babies, and he was overdue!
Who knows - just don't stress about it.

We haven't started BLW yet (11 days til our six-month mark), but yes, I am concerned about the choking. But apparently they have this gag reflex that kicks in. Still, I will be watching like a hawk!

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 30/03/2011 02:09

Yes I worry about chiking but dd3 seems to manage the food well. V little gets swallowed despite her sucking bits ok now. She did swallow some yesterday but looked v stunned about it. Her tongue reflex is v obviously starting to relax now.

NoHunIntended · 30/03/2011 02:12

Ooh Cheesy, you're up! Me too!

I am so looking forward to DS eating solids. Maybe he won't be up at two in the morning wanting milk!

Elsa123 · 30/03/2011 04:43

morning...been up since 0120. deep joy

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 30/03/2011 07:50

I've got really cracked nipples from letting her help herself when I'm half asleep so doing sitting up feeds for a few nights which make me morr tired as i cant get vack to sleep.Only twice last night though!

TysonNobdie86 · 30/03/2011 12:28

I have just bought a Bumbo with the hope that it will help Sophie sit up better and strengthen her back, has anyone got one or used one? Are they any good, Im picking it up Friday Grin

NoHunIntended · 30/03/2011 12:28

Oh Elsa, that is a long stint. Hope you aren't up to too much today and can chill.

Cheese, ouch, poor you. Well done though.

floozietoozie · 30/03/2011 13:33

Tyson I've got a bumbo and they are fab. Dd likes it as she's more upright although she has such slim legs in comparison to ds at the same age that she can slip around a bit.

NoHun it's great you can swim so often. Very envious of that.

TysonNobdie86 · 30/03/2011 14:46

Floozie, Sophie will be fine then, she is rather chubby Grin

NoHunIntended · 30/03/2011 16:23

I have similar to a Bumbo - we have this Super Seat - DS loves the toys attached, and I like the tray for when the time comes for solid food.

I am glad we can swim so often too - was thinking only yesterday how nice it is to have so much so close by. I want to move out to the countryside though, but not too isolated and away from 'stuff'.

sam12 · 30/03/2011 17:26

Hi.
We were on our hols last week so just been catching up on all your posts. DD slept through two nights whilst we were away but unfortunately it hasn't lasted and she is back to getting up 2/3 times a night Sad

Nohun your ds sounds soo cute crawling around. dd does the motions with her legs but hasn't quite mastered the arms yet so ends up in a heap. Thats really good getting out swimming that often I'm always Envy as you seem so motivated!

cheese well done to your dh on getting the job! Hope he gets the other one too.

ILGH glad you are home safe. DD was 7lbs8 and is now 15lbs8 (or was a few weeks back when I took her for weighing) if you look in their red book there are graphs to see if they are gaining at the 'right' speed. Although at almost six months dd is still in 0-3 months clothes!!

floozie yes am paranoid about choking. I read the blw book told dh all about it and now when he is out I daren't do it and give her mashed stuff Blush she is loving food though. So far she has had fruit, veg, porridge, yoghurts and rice cakes- which seem to be the favourite. I have to wrestle the spoon of her to reload it.

tyson dd loved my nephewsd bumbo so we got her the mamas and papas version- she loves it and is really handy for feeding. She also loves just playing with her toys in there.

Anyway this has turned into a really long post and dd is stirring so best go

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 30/03/2011 17:44

Just marking my place, haven have cancelled our holiday so have to decide on change of location or try for a hotel by tomorrow

sam12 · 30/03/2011 18:00

We were at haven last week cheese. Why have they cancelled it? That's rubbish

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 30/03/2011 18:08

Caravans weren't delivered or something!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/03/2011 19:30

Ello :) congrats on Dh's job cheese but booo to haven, i hope it gets sorted quickly. Good to hear everyone's news-amazing your Ds is crawling Nohun, Uh oh!! sam12 I hope your holiday was fun.

I miss our absentees too-I guess it's been 16mths wr have been here nattering away, you get attached to people! MN has changed though, the fun stuff is harder to find so I guess some don't check in as much.

Anyway, it'd vocation vocation vocation at 8pm and I sadly can't wait!

Dd is weaning now-she just wolfed down sweetpotato & cinnamon followed by yoghurt yum yum Grin

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 30/03/2011 19:43

Thanks for the reminder on vacation x3 Srashells

Decided not to do holiday & look at august instead. We will compensate the dds by finally get the guinea pigs they've been waiting for, they'll cost more than the holiday anyway!

Dd3 had mango for tea. Not easy to hold so she resorted to leaning down to it & sucking it on the tray instead Hmm

HarrietJones · 30/03/2011 20:21
