True! DH started a new job when we got married - one of the reasons we didn't go on honeymoon for seven months.

tiredfeet · 31/03/2011 15:56

Well done your ds for crawling nohun how exciting!!

hj that's great mews about your dh job, shame about the holiday problem but sounds like guinea pigs are the solution Smile

Just been shopping for outfits for our summer of weddings. I found the most beautiful dress but due to the inflationary effect of breastfeeding there was no way I could squeeze my boobs into it. Had a little sulk about it Blush and fora brief moment contemplated giving up breastfeeding just so I could fit in the dress [shallow] but did manage to find some nice skirts and tops that will work better anyway. Ds is having a noisy day and was making all these very loud but very cute squeals and cooing noises everywhere we went!

NoHunIntended · 31/03/2011 21:25

Loving 'inflationary effect of breastfeeding'! Oh yes, I have those considerations too! I didn't imagine there would be quite so much of an increase in cuppage! Glad you managed to find a nice outfit though.

And thanks re the crawling. He is actually also standing now, pulls himself up, and holds his hands up to be walked, and loves putting one foot in front of the other. Very exciting, and will keep me on my toes.

Hermya321 · 31/03/2011 22:04

Hello everyone,

How are you all??

We're well, DS is growing at a rate of knotts. Seriously I put him in 6 - 9 month dunagrees the other day and they were already at half mast on him.

RL seems to be resolving itself nicely, but still working on it.

Ho humm life goes on.

I'm actually wanting a new nickname, I started a thread here so any help would be appreciated.

NoHunIntended · 31/03/2011 22:11

Yay, it's Hermya! Did you see that we missed you?!

Glad DS is fab, and RL is ok.

Will go think re your new name.

Elsa123 · 31/03/2011 22:25

Hey, welcome back Hermya! will look at your other thread. Glad RL is getting there.

NoHun Wow your DS is a right little trooper! Apparently my sister was the same when she was a baby.

TF yup, I know what you mean about the boobage and also the traitorous thoughts on stopping bfing just so some tops can fit Wink. I bought a shirt from Crew Clothing and it just doesn't fit across the chest, grrr. Will be sending it back and its a size bigger than I normally am. On the plus side I did buy some rather nice jeans the other day which made me feel better.

Ouch HJ with your nipples! I totally understand your need for sleep over in tact nipplage. DD woke up at 0600 (and believe me that wasn't sleeping through). She wouldn't go back to sleep so I persuaded DH to have her while he got ready for work so I could snooze on. He then gave her back to me before he left. I laid her with me to feed and I don't know what the gap was between him handing her back and leaving but I was apparently so fast asleep I did not hear him say goodbye when he was stood over me and he didn't want to touch me in case I startled and woke up Bronwen!

Welcome back from your hols Sam12!

Seashells Cinnamon and Sweet Potato sounds yummy.

Tyson no I haven't got a bumbo but lots of people recommend them.

TribbleWithoutACause · 31/03/2011 22:31

nohun, Elsa Don't worry now, I think I've got one I like . Grin

TribbleWithoutACause · 31/03/2011 22:36

Tyson I tried DS with a bumbo, he frowned and then screamed at me.

TF I have that as well, I feel like I'm carting a top full of melons around with me. Although I have seen a thread about converting old underwired bras into nursing bras that I may have a go at. I mean my bras aren't exactly busy at the moment are they.

HarrietJones · 01/04/2011 08:33

Grin at the new name!

Went to bed at 8pm lastnight & am still there. Up 4x for feeds & 3 to throw up. So not a v successful nights sleep!

HarrietJones · 01/04/2011 10:02
Elsa123 · 01/04/2011 10:10

Thats not good HJ.

I've cracked day time naps. Without taking DD out on a walk I was struggling to get her to nap more than 30 mins and then it was attached to me. I spent £8 on the No Cry nap solution by Elizabeth Pantley. Barely read it when I had the epiphany that I needed to recreate night time wind down to get her to nap in the day. It works! Duh I know but you learn something new every day. I've bought a lullaby CD which seems to send her straight off even if it does make me feel really sad for some strange reason.

Reading about how 6 month olds (DD is 5.5 mths) need 3-4 hours naps a day and 11 hours at night made me feel rather guilty about not sorting this out sooner as 30 mins naps were only enough to refresh her and not get any deep restorative sleep. Its proof that as a first timer I need hand holding on what in retrospect seem like simple issues Grin.

Like the name Tribble! I have to say I Lol'd at Uhura'sEarpiece as a suggestion!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 01/04/2011 14:23

Good name change tribble!

I have two sleeping children and have been mucking around here rather than sleeping myself doh!

HarrietJones · 01/04/2011 14:26

We went swimming & it was shut. I'm overly disappointed as one of the mums frombaby group was meeting us & it's the nearest I've come to a new friendSad

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 01/04/2011 14:46

:( did you go for coffee instead? Hopefully you can rearrange for next week before the kids break for Easter.

TribbleWithoutACause · 01/04/2011 14:56

HJ Oh boo!! Thats horrid, you know if you want to there is a Mums and tots baby swimming session in a pool near me. Not the one where they do aquanatel, but one a bit further out and thats very nice. I've been there with a group of Mums from the coffee morning I haunt.

Seashells Get thyself to bed.

I am on a mission tonight, me and DH are travelling down South on the train for the weekend in a few weeks. He is convinced that we can manage with the Quinny and all our stuff Hmm, as is my MIL who when I told her about this told my husband that she saw a woman with a pram who had put it in the disabled bay (what if an actual disabled person comes along!!!) and that she seemed fine. I on the other hand want to get a Maclaren for this trip as well as for the car as I am so fed up of fiddling with the damn quinny every time I want to go out anywhere.

I have also since spoken with my friend who has five children and her words were 'NO DON'T DO IT!!' and there began a whole conversation where it was decided that I was right all along.

So this evening, I am going to convince my poor DH that this is a neccessity for our lives.

Elsa123 · 01/04/2011 15:57

I travel a lot. I have a MC Spin for at home which does travel well and I use it to go shopping and dog walking, but for London I use a Silver Cross pop stroller which lies flat for sleeps but is collapsable. If you co sleep you can do the train with not much at all. I take the Amby Nest, mine and DD's bag which is combined, her changing bag and then anything extra I want. But I do travel in the car. DD and I go down in a 2 seater car and it works out ok. On my own on the train would be a pain, but with 2 of you it shouldn't be too bad.

Elsa123 · 01/04/2011 15:58

The MS spin travels well with a car...not on the train. I support your mission for another push chair!!

HarrietJones · 01/04/2011 16:24

Don't have her number.

Going to go swimming on Monday when dh is at work (Grin) as it'll break up the day. It'll be the first time I've been on my own with dd3 for a full day Blush & Monday is a crap day for activites.

We've got a maclaren I got for dd2 for using on bus/train as it's v light & has a strap for over your shoulder. Dd3 would be too little yet but it was excellent for dd2 as a toddler.had dd1 walking (3/4) and dd2 on reins & buggy on my shoulder for the train. Great fun Hmm

Notice the juxtaposition of my coping techniques. Am getting down now.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 01/04/2011 16:41

So do I! I've got britax blite but an earlier version that I seem to remember as cheaper? Anyway, it's great, and still cheaper than maclaren

HarrietJones · 02/04/2011 08:52

Raspberries for tea last night. Very red baby with a huge grin. Even bigger grin & loads of giggles at the mirror baby before her bath

sam12 · 02/04/2011 18:53

elsa we've got the spin and I struggle to get in my car which is really annoying. I want to get a new car but can't really justify it. We got one similar to that sea for when we are flying later in the year we thought it would be easier. Dds passport came today- soooo cute!
tired I'm the same with a summer or weddings and need to go shopping though it the inflationary effect of chocolate that's my issue! Have you all got bigger boobs from bf? I'm sure mine have got smaller.
Glad you're back tribble
Dd had her first kiddies party today it was fancy dress and she went as a bumble bee Grin
Sounds like the raspberries were a hit Harriet hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. The weather is lovely here.

HarrietJones · 02/04/2011 19:57

We've had a busy day. Dd1/2 school fair & dd3 loved nosing around the school( no prams allowed in), been to pet shop & ordered guinea pigs for next week, then came back & had an afternoon gardening ( dd3 sat in the tent & yelled at trees)

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/04/2011 20:11

HJ DD3 sounds like a right little character.

Sam Awww that sounds adorable.

Well me and DH have talked and we're going to get another buggy, we figure it's an investment and from what we've seen they sell on pretty well (even the donkeys old ratty ones).

DS has been laughing up a storm today, we took him out for a walk and he was squealing the whole way through. Seriously he's so loud!! People could totally hear us coming.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 02/04/2011 21:42

How are you getting to weddings etc? Dh and I have just ruined our evening trying to work out how to do a wedding and hen do 3 hours from home, childfree, me bf and going on own :( it just doesn't work.
This friend flew to a different country to mine years ago, but I am struggling to return the favour :( :(

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/04/2011 22:00

Seashells If you're going to be three hours from home, are you able to get a hotel in the area and maybe you could get a local babysitter in the area from an agency, is this an option at all? I suppose finances would be an issue with that one though.
