2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

a urine infection clucks! Hence 36 weeker.

vag i'm about to switch from pop up to playpen. I don't trust my hyperactive monkey in our flimsy bubble!

AlpinePony · 31/01/2011 08:12

vag Bear hated the travel-cot with a vengeance. Can't say I blame him. 1) The walls are so high you'd need to be Gulliver to get them in and out without waking them ii) they can't see out iii) they "sag" in the middle.

I'm not surprised he didn't like it. Normally he's at just above our bed height and can see us through the bars - no wonder he wasn't happy.

gasper what playpen are you getting?

CurlyCasper · 31/01/2011 09:17

just basic playpen-style travel cot cunty. Will see what I can get when out tomorrow. Although an actual playpen might be a good idea given I just found Lady Muck resting one leg on the soot-covered hearth. She was wearing a white babygro and i had left her in the middle of the room while I made her bottle...

CluckyKate · 31/01/2011 09:32

Right, so I need to eat a pinapple, go shopping and forget to change my Tena lady - that's do-able...thank-you Grin

We used variety of travel cots Vag and LC slept fine in them all. We actually bought the Little Life Travel Cot due to compactness but also had advantage of see-through sides and no sagging. Downside was that it didn't block out the light so we had to cover with a dark towel when camping at Badminton last year to keep LC asleep past 5am.

Cosmosis · 31/01/2011 11:15

clucky a mix of senna tablets and a hot curry was wot did I reckon. Not intentional like, just had constipation!

We have both a playpen one and a bubble one, but never used either! playpen one takes up most of the boot though so will not be getting used much.

CUNextTuesday · 31/01/2011 11:50

We have a mothercare travel cot which doubles as a playpen but it's immense. I'd like something a can build into the room so it gives him plenty of space but is movement limiting. My chum has one and it has the added advantage of all the toys being in one place

AlpinePony · 31/01/2011 19:04

cossie I'm sorry to read that you'll have to go back to work more hours than you wanted to. :( TGO will be printing money in a few years though so it'll all come good in the end. x

Bear seems to be back to normal, eating decent amounts, finishing his milk and sleeping properly again. I loved my holiday but it seems he needs more of a routine than I thought he did - I always thought he was very flexible... but I'm sure the sickness contributed to his being "off". The nursery was fab from the pov that we know he'll have no problems integrating but, nobody does things quite like mum and when they say "oh he ate loads" they don't say, "he ate 120ml of mango puree" - so you don't know exactly what the status quo is. I'm not a control freak - but I do know that he needs to eat/drink a certain amount to sleep/be happy.

I think we've turned a corner here, following more meetings with lawyers it seems it would be throwing good money after bad to appeal... so deep breath and time to move on. I've got a good life, I'm happy (will be) and we get the keys to the new house in less than 2 weeks wahey! Revenge will have to be taken the old-fashioned way.

Big warnings that this statement is not meant to make anyone at all feel inferior, merely to emphasise that all things can and do happen during childbirth. There, got that out of the way, so in response to Alpy saying that 3rd degree tears mean the end of life as you know it - that's not always true. The direction of the tear is what designates whaat degree it is, along with how far it reaches. 3rd degree tears are subdivided down further into 3a, 3b and 3c. 3a is what I had, which means it went backwards to the edge of the bum hole but no damage done to the sphincter or smooth muscle. At the other end of the scale a 3c tear means the sphincter is in little bits. A 2nd degree tear is one that goes off at a skew-whif angle and can go off anywhere really. It can be a bigger and longer tear than a 3rd degree tear. I don't say this to belittle anyone's tear (honestly, Moo) but to explain that everyone's is different and so their experiences will be different. I have no trouble with physical process, ta very much, but a baby in da bed kind of puts more of a stop to things atm! Likewise, my 3rd degree tear was doing rising trot within 5 weeks, although sitting trot was a bit more of a challenge. But there we go.

Moo fwiw I was told that a spiky feeling I had, which went away within a couple of weeks, was probably due to a trapped nerve which would sort itself out but to call someone if it didn't. Howeve it did resolve itself in the end though.

Anyway, as you were, while I go back to my teething hell. Been up to my folks for a couple of days and both kids are now completely dysfunctional with their sleep patterns.

Backinthebox · 31/01/2011 20:45

Oh yes. Just got to add that I bought some Ella's Kitchen meals for the moment LG shows signs of wanting to eat something, only to come downstairs this morning and find TT sitting sheepishly in a pile of empty baby food pouches and a little trickle of Strawberries and Apple puree dribbling down the side of her mouth! Hmm

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 31/01/2011 21:39

Thanks all for travel cot input. Have ordered bubble style one as may fly scandi-wards at some point, also as we own tiny car in comparison to new requirements. Will try it & report back when we have to buy other sort too....

Any SW London ladies free tomorrow? Have entirely free day and am dreading it.

CUNextTuesday · 31/01/2011 22:06

I'm free captain peacock!

OkieCokie · 31/01/2011 22:08

vag i is free. will txt you.

rollerbaby · 01/02/2011 08:15

Soz to miss out on sw meet up today but have Babymoo Tongue tie app which I am not looking forward to one bit. So much so I couldn't sleep a wink last night.

No offence taken box. Mine healed well despite being 3c so it hasn't been the end of the world by any stretch. Things do feel different though and in march I will find out if the consultant would recommend a vaginal birth for my second. This is based on results if my ultrasound yesterday. Had 4 lots of probes stuck up my bum. Bit nasty but glad to know all healing well. Not many people can say they've seen the inside of their bum eh.

Cosmosis · 01/02/2011 08:56

Fatty McButterpants has managed to eat himself back up to the 50th centile (where he was at birth) from being on the 25th since then. I thought we had a lot of extra chins and blubbery thighs......

Alps I have a meeting with work on Monday to discuss options.

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 09:08

Moo that is a nice way to spend a Monday. I am still impressed you got back in the saddle so soon. I have a friend who had a c section and she did not have the sechs for 22 months!

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 09:14

Do you think VAG has regretted her invitation?

Cosmosis · 01/02/2011 09:20

Hope the TT appointment goes ok Moo, I have heard people say the baybees barely noticed it being done so fingers crossed.

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 09:22

Yes, no communication from VAG after I suggested a couple of places last night. May be wrapping presents was a better option afterall.

Today all is good with the world. For the first time since Peppa was born both children slept and did not wake me until
6.50am! We have had such a nightmare with mini oke waking in the night and on the rare occasions he didn't wake, Peppa would wake early. Last night was ace with not a peep out of either of them Smile

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 01/02/2011 09:42

Sorry Okes & Cunty - phone died in night & have only just got up Later sounds great - msg on fb?

As a brief diversion from moo's nethers, does anyone know if kiddies get their own baggage allowance? I'm thinking of packing a bag specifically for Rastus instead of putting all his stuff into our suitcase.

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 10:09

It wasn't because of the section moo and her vag was all fine, it was because she couldn't be bothered and was lacking sleep..

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 10:11

Depends on airline but generally no
