2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

PollyPoo · 23/02/2011 11:12

I really didn't think I would get it this time Cos, I suppose cos I felt I knew what I was letting myself in for second time around. However, it seems that having two baybees just gives you a different set of problems challenges. I also thought I had a better support network around me this time, but actually it seems I was wrong. Saying that though, my doc and HV have been absolute stars.

Cosmosis · 23/02/2011 11:15

I suppose the same thing applies, no one can prepare you for the shock of habving a baby the first time, but equally no one can prepare you for the second either as like you say there is a whole other different set of ishooos.

Glad DH and HV have been great, it's nice to hear some praise for an HV, maybe they are worthwhile after all Wink

PollyPoo · 23/02/2011 11:21

Yeah I have been surprised by the HV - I didn't think that much of them last time, but then again, I don't think I really used them iykwim. I didn't bother going to the baby clinic to get Boo weighed very often, so I never got to know them. This time she keeps ringing and is still popping around to check on me.

Thanks for the tips on the thrush btw. Think I need to wash all the sheets and towels again. Never knew about ironing bras either! I think I may have thrush in the actual breast, I keep getting shooting pains. I will mention it to the doc when she rings.

And just to add to the general joy of the day, I have a UTI and what appears to be my first droid. Bonanza!

Cosmosis · 23/02/2011 11:26

Ah yes, shooting pains sounds like it could be thrush, deffo mention to doc.

Sounds like a shit day :(

Cosmosis · 23/02/2011 11:27

if you pm Rots on fb, she is the Thrush expert, she's been through it all, so will be sure to have more tips for you.

Backinthebox · 23/02/2011 12:00

Silv and Reggie there is something even better than a coffee shop half way between you, there is my house! And spitting distance away from my house is Clucky's house, although I am not volunteering that for a place to meet up, just saying she's round here too. We should have a Berks/Oxfordshire FESH meetup. Those London and Northern types do it all the time so I'm sure we can half cobble something together.

So, who wants a job then? I have so much outside space we wouldn't notice a few extra kids running/rolling round outside. Just don't try squeezing everyone in the house though. Tis a bit crammed atm, but building work starts soon, hurray!

Speaking seriously, I think it is a good job for an outdoors-y nanny type who has own teeny child and only wants to go back to work part time, no? OH is there at each end of the day and at weekends, so no really weird times unless he has the odd one-off meeting or overnighter. But I have to work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, and during that 2 weeks on all times are fair game. TT will be at school, so only LG to look after. But I am paranoid and want someone who has documentary proof of being capable of being left in charge of my baby for up to 4 days at a time (OH will need to be told what to do as well, most likely!) They'll have to be able to think about things like buying groceries if we run out and washing clothes if they all get dirty while I am at work, as I won't be there at the start of each day to give them instructions, and don't want to come back home to find I have to go to the supermarket before a child will stop screaming after a trans-Atlantic all-nighter.

OH is currently having a lovely time gadget shopping for me to ensure I am a fully-loaded webcam-wielding roaming-all-areas Skype machine when I go back to work. There will be nowhere and no time that I will not be available to chat face to face to the kids!

Backinthebox · 23/02/2011 12:22

Can someone come and have a word with LG that wailwailwail, sleep for 10 minutes, drinky-milky, wailwailwail, etc is just not on, and could be so easily resolved if he just settled down to sleep for MORE than 10 minutes at a stretch? Doing my head in!

SilverSky · 23/02/2011 14:06

New FESH alert!!!! Check BumFace - the camel has popped!

AlpinePony · 23/02/2011 14:17

Gosh he's a big'un! Must've been that green fags & gin diet she was on TTC! Wink

pollypants Bear had a touch of thrush after I'd stopped bf'ing, however this cleared up very quickly (I ran out of the medicine briefly) on its own. Tbh I just rubbed Caneston on to my nips.

I too am amazed that (so far) I've not come down with PND. We thought I was a sure thing and had Dr. Nutjob on speed-dial.

Hugest congrats to the humped one. Another boy!! We'll be able to set up our own scout troop soon Grin. So thrilled, can't wait to hear the story.

SilverSky · 23/02/2011 14:24

Appreciate all the concern. May pop t'other place tonight once MB in bed and I've had my nap in the bath.

alps if there is cake, I'm there. If there is horsey talk then it's a double whammy. All that's missing is gin! Gin cake?

polls I am miles and mikes from your good self. Am about 30mins from Windsor. This morning I was in misery city but I've perked up a lot tho MB has decided to sleep on me instead of feed which is an arse cos we have to go and muck out the hoss soon. One handed too as trapped finger when closing the back door. Ouch. In fact I gotta stop swearing in front of the bambino. Sorry you are having crap time. I've had dpn before and what I've got now, if anything seems different. I couldn't eat last time, felt constantly sick and had massive panic attacks. Now I have terrible mood swings and it seems like PMT but extreme and with tears at times. Not sure if it's frustration or inability to cope or wot.

box I'll take that job if there's free livery included? Grin

House is looking better. Have called it a day as done enough and I'm bored knackered. Will do the bathroom in the morning or maybe later.

Just noticed that MBs third jabs are due but cos the needle lady is on her hollibobs they are delayed. Poss for 2/3 wks but they are squeezing me in next week. It's two in one leg and one in the other. Poor child. He's gonna yell.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 23/02/2011 19:41

Lovely Sliver I am doing nothing tomorrow if you fancy coming to visit.

I keep popping on, reading, starting to post, being interrupted, forgetting what I was going to say and.....er....

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 23/02/2011 19:42

Hooray for Perfect Baby Camel!

CurlyCasper · 23/02/2011 20:20

bloody wonderful big baby news from drom. What a lad!

silver you know how you feel, but do remember that dpn can take different forms. With me it's anxiety and fucked up personal relationships. But whatever you are feeling, if it will help to talk please do.

I probably wouldn't be much help, but I keep thinking maybe this week's road trip should have involved delivering cake to Feshs rather than failed clothes shopping efforts etc.

Parents supposedly sorted for technology, but laptop gets on with their wifi worse than wit my home one. So i'm getting very frustarted here. I want to catch up.

And i've got another stinking cold and having horriblw hot flushes. Great.

CurlyCasper · 23/02/2011 20:31

also, baby not settling here. Was up most of last night and ended up in with me. Travel cot must become acceptable!

SilverSky · 23/02/2011 20:55

vag thank you for the offer. Typically tmw I have my nct buds gathering otherwise I would! Really kind of you. Thank you!

curlsworld consuming cake is much more satisfying than clothes shopping. FACT. Again, I know where you guys are if I want to talk. I am not very good at spouting off about myself so sometimes I take some prodding. I've also had a couple of friendships fail and that's also making me a bit unhappy again can't talk on here.

Also doesn't help that me and HI are struggling with lack of cash. Early part o the year is always tough anyway and then there is the added complication of ML salary and sharer doing a bunk has not helped.

Lucky MB doesn't realise his mother is a loon complex individual yet.

Other Sun roofers, does your wound/abdomen ache after exercise? Not sure why it keeps aching. But it's doing it again now. Perhaps haynet too heavy??

Still need to write to the hossie to tell them about my shit experience. Moo did you say you were a wicked complaint letter writer? Not asking you to write but to critique and improve as you think!!

OkieCokie · 23/02/2011 20:55

Wow, wonderful camel news! Many congratulations! ..and that is one bigggg baybee!

Backinthebox · 23/02/2011 23:23

Well, Silv there is an empty stable! Currently housing OH's band stuff and cricket stuff because all of his mates don't want to store their crap for themselves. Hmm But it should house a horse.

As for sunroof (or zipper, as we like to call it in the Box house,) remember that the whole bit of muscle that keeps you from flopping to the floor like a ragdoll has been sliced through, pulled about a bit, had a good rummage in, stitched back together before being launched without a rest straight back in to the busiest period of your life, where not only do you not get to lay about and heal after your operation, you are expected to lug a 6-10lb weight everywhere with you. You'd be a bit weird if it didn't get a bit achey after exercise. When I got kicked in the knee 18 months ago it took nearly a year to stop aching. I can't remember how long it took my abdomen to stop aching, but it did stop in the end and I have no bother at all now and haven't done since well before this pregnancy. So I would guess that by about 6-10 months after birth it stopped giving me jip.

And on a completely different note. If any PESHes are looking for a new thread name one day, 'When PESH comes to shove' just popped into my head. Now it won't go away again, so take it, someone. Please!

CUNextTuesday · 23/02/2011 23:38

And how about 'Plenty more FESH in the brie' for ours? Grin

Backinthebox · 23/02/2011 23:52

Ooh, very clever, Cunty!

AlpinePony · 24/02/2011 05:30

silv I still get the occasional twinge - it hurt when I was skiing, the scar - not the actualy insides and it still hurts if I bang it on the knee-roll when dismounting. I think it's jsut "one of those things" and I'll suddenly realise one day that it hasn't hurt for years.

curly Very sorry to hear you're having troubled nights - that must be tiring and stressful for you. :(

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 24/02/2011 05:35

Why won't my child sleep? . He's taken to self-harming by banging his head on the cot bars to get my attention, obv accompanied by pitiful weeping. I've come downstairs for a coffee and left hom sleeping through all the commotion Sad

AlpinePony · 24/02/2011 05:45

I assume he doesn't want to sleep because he's all revved up about his new trick. Could be time for you to start baby-proofing everything. Shock Grin Mine's had a bad night - he's been cultivating bogies but has a total meltdown if I try and wipe his nose/remove the offending items.

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 24/02/2011 05:57

I just seem completely incapable of getting him back to sleep without feeding him. Nothing i do works even remotely. Actually not even feeding him worked tonight, as soon as he went back in his cot he kicked off big time. I must have caught 2 hrs sleep max.

You still in bogeyville? Do you find he's getting one cold after another?

AlpinePony · 24/02/2011 06:02

No, it's not colds - it's probably just the dirt & dog-hair he licks/sucks/snorts off the floor. BlushGrin

I don't know what to say about the sleeping - except for us it seems cyclical. The first few nights of moving in here were dire - he seemed a little insecure, but things have definitely improved and he's done a few nights of 12 hours plus 3 power naps throughout the day. He has his sleep sheep, a couple of teddys who've been with him since day 1 and I've been putting teething gel on his dummy as I think that top tooth is giving him a bit of gyp. How's it going with the transfer to his own room? We've put that on hold temporarily.
