Happy New Year Feshes! Have been absent for a bit holidaying at the ILs and chilling with boyfy, who has taken a good long holiday for Crimbo/new Year. Soooo much easier minding babes with two n'est-ce pas? I am getting out on my own tomorrow to go to the sales. Am very excited. Quite disproportionately so. He is giving her a bottle of expressed milk at the mo'. That's going pretty well too. She'll pretty much take a full feed now, so time for me to spread my wings...

So: huge congrats to maswera. Another lovely boy. Look forward to hearing all about it.

muse sounds like you have got the clothes situation under control! As far as I can see, it works a bit like this: Body (long arms, no legs, white or fairly plain) is your basic undergarment. Missy wears these day and night. You do need quite a few, as they are in the direct line of fire! We bought 5 and people lent us another 5 or so - that's enough really. Over that goes whatever you please - sleepsuits, baby gros, or the romper things (legs but no arms). We had about 5 nice ones and got lent about 5 or six more. Again, this is pretty much enough. Missy wore nothing more elaborate than this until a few weeks ago. Most of the clothes we have been given are either 0-3 or 3-6 and 0-3 is starting to fit now, so she has piles of lovely outfits. You basically get to pick none of your babies clothes for this period I reckon, as you get soooo much, you're better off not buying anything. I second silv 's tip on the notepad - you'll need to keep track.

curly - how's the own room going? Has squeaks settled in well? How about the swaddling? Have you tried without yet? I'm really interested, as finding it hard to imagine managing without it...

alpy - a tooth! Has that appeared without the traditional teething hell?!

And some hugs to moo, who has been in the wars as far as I can see. Hope that having the parents stay longer helped. You are doing a great job. Hope the bits are feeling better. T'is miserable. My midwife suggested bathing with camomile tea (ie: throw the tea bags in the bath). Well, it did help...

switty Well he's had the flushed cheeks/biting thing on and off for a while. Then last night he was a bit grizzly from 3am so me and him slept in the living room. Health visitor (doctor) at 9:30 who asked about teeth and I said "oh no, not yet" - she promptly said "what's that then?" - and lo, there is a slither of white poking through the gum! Grin It must've actually come in last night as honest guv I did check at the weekend and it now actually feels different on his spoon - can feel it kind of catching. He's been a little screamer today though. Hmm This didn't help when he was sat on my lap when I was working and he launched himself face first at my desk with an audible clunk. Blush

Your baby is growing up alps if you have teeth. I have realised than babies have teeth that all out as they are useless at cleaning them. Hopefully by the time the big teeth make an appearance teeth brushing battles will be over.

Muse forgot to mention all those nice white sleepsuits and vests will no doubt get stained with yellow shit stainsa. If you want to save them then you need to act toute suite and treat them with summat to get it out.

Tree has been dumped outside for the collectors. We seem to have a lot less decorations that came off the tree than went on reckon mini Oke has something to do with that, I will be finding little baubles in June no doubt..

helloooooooooooo I am back again.

MAs lovely to hear from you and glad you are loving being a new mum to your hungry boy.

Alps exciting news about toofy pegs. It doesn't sound like teething has been too bad for you... I hope it carries on like this. What is it about babies launching themselves at stuff? Babymoo already does this when I am holding him and I am shitting myself the day he does it when I am carrying him on one arm. He is so massive that there's no way I could stop him.

witty hello to you too. good news on the bottles of ebm - we are struggling on a daily basis to feed him these. I'm determined not to give up... otherwise I'll never leave the house again let's face it. So far we are managing to get him to take about 30 ml the last 2 days but this is taking well over 30 minutes. I think the NUK bottle we have is too fast so need to wait for the amazon playtex bottles to arrive and hope and pray these are better. I wish to god I'd never stopped giving them to him when he was 3 weeks old... oh well, benefit of hindsight.

We have had a good day as FINALLY babymoo woke up once in the night at 3am and I had to WAKE HIM at 7am! Twas a brilliant night - even if I did go in at 6 to check he was alive... I even managed a good 1.5 hour nap at 4pm today so really not feeling too bad in stark contrast with, well, the whole of xmas.

muse I think everyone has covered the clothing answer... just don't buy any newborn clothes is my advice. I had tons and they have gone virtually unworn. Also don't buy flat sheets. I don't get them and haven't used them. I just needed loads of fitted sheets and blankets and shove them in the wash as needed. He has so many beds in this house that there are bloody blankets everywhere...

Parents have finally gone, the tree is down and the presents and xmas shit all cleared away. In a funny sort of way, it feels like the rest of our lives are now starting properly after a foggy 6-7 weeks prior to xmas. I was actually quite glad when the olds went this morning - 2 weeks is a long time and we'd started niggling the last few days which let's face it, means I'm clearly feeling better.

Mr Moo off work all week so we are determined to get babymoo into a good routine this week and crack the bottle thing. I've been taking your advice adn doing 2 baths a day and mr moo is doing a fair bit more which is making a difference.

okie was looking tres fabulous today in her knee high boots and knitwear. In contrast I was in my tracksuit and baggy old top which smelt and I think I spent most of her visit with my boob hanging out of my bra. She even had to make her own tea. Jesus I am the worst hostess. My dog also tried to eat her baybee which was quite embarrassing.

Praying for another good night tonight and will report back asap.

*Wine as the new weight loss regime only starts tomorrow as clearly it is still the holidays until Mr C returns to work tomorrow. In addition I have also polished off a tray of Hotel Chocolat Chocs in one sitting

muse Ignore the size labels - they vary enormously. As a general rule of thumb - the more expensive something is, the smaller it'll size up (e.g., Joules, Mexx) - the exception being supermarket/primarni vests/sleepsuits which are cheap and small. Right now Bear's wearable wardrobe runs the gauntlet from Newborn to 12 months stuff! Put all the stuff that's too big away but pull it out once every 3 weeks or so to have a check.

okie I fear his real father (no, not Derek Morgan) was in fact a shark. This thing is razor sharp.

cunty Weird, the crown was covered in tiny blood smeared hand-prints when I briefly got to wear it yesterday. Although I note that silv threw her baybee off the couch too.

Massive congrats mas - another member of the FESH army/football team/gay jamboree!

Great to read your post moomoo. Sound like better times are being had. Baybees like to mix it up a bit don't they and it's hardest when you think you've sussed something to then have it all go tits up again. What I is saying and saying badly is try not to let the bad days become bigger than they need to be.

Report
SilverSky · 04/01/2011 07:46

I get to wear the crown for 40mins based on my ickle incident surely??!

Report
rollerbaby · 04/01/2011 11:19

Deffo right on the mixing it up Silv we got a 3am last night after his 11pm feed, so was feeling all smug and "oh we've cracked this nighttime malarkey" and he then went and fucking woke up at 4.20am. I sent Mr Moo in for winding but ending up feeding him for oooh 7 minutes and got him back to sleep. Not in a good mood today either thanks to horrific headache and a worsening back ache which is mega painful to either a) feed him or b) lift him up. GREAT. Off to physio tomorrow to see if they can work some magic. Bit worried this is going to stop us going to first swimming lesson tomrrow which is annoying as there are only 6.
alps so right on the sizing. Bought 6 month old dungarees from petit bateau. They are already too tight round his middle. I am so fucked off about that - they are expensive and you'd think buying 6 month sizes for a 6 week baby (at the time) would afford you a bit of leaway. Fuckers what a con. I'm going to try and take them back and complain. What do you think of my chances?

Report
AlpinePony · 04/01/2011 11:48

moo Go in with his birth certificate and the offending dungarees. Seriously, how could they say no?

Glad to hear the non-stop feeding is par for the course at the mo - was getting worried there might be something wrong with feeding/supply/whatever. He seems to be going for it every couple of hours - does that sound familiar...? Erm, pliz to how long till my buzwams get some rest?!

Ah, I hear the familiar call of the squelchy trump... Will do birf story when I have time between feeds/changes...

Report
CUNextTuesday · 04/01/2011 17:47

Every two hours sounds like a luxury! At about 8 weeks if i recall, the feeds are much shorter and can be spaced out. By then your supply will be established and the routine doesn't have to be quite so strict to keep your levels up

hi mas and congrats on your hungry wee boy. Sorry has taken me so long to say so!

No pol news? Aksherlly i'm kind of hoping little Poo 2 arrives tomorrow, so he/she can have THE best date of birth. Grin

moo definitely sound like improvement if you were glad to have a quiet house again. And glad swits managed to enjoy new year. I was in bed by 10.

swits own room going well. She's been swaddle free for at least 6 weeks and all I can advise is to try to wean off it sooner rather than later. It didin't take long but really wasn't fun.

Don't think will be going out for any birthday fun tomorrow. squeaks has a very sore throat. Lots of husky babbling and tears. And very long naps. She's trying to talk lots though, and we got a flukey "daddy" thiss morning.

Have also created food monster. She steals food at every oppotunity. Xmas dinner was fun.

Have to get big jab in my bum on thurs. Not looking forward to it, but should make me more mobile.
