2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 10:18

oh hang on I've done what I should have done originally. BA will allow one bag, a fully collapsible stroller and a car seat. It may well be a big bag Grin

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 10:20

quality airline. I generally fly low cost and they charge you to fart

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 10:35

They'll only be a quality airline if they aren't on strike

Backinthebox · 01/02/2011 11:31

Cunty if they are on strike the pilots will serve the tea instead. Hell, I might even go back to work early if I can play at being a trolly dolly Grin.

SilverSky · 01/02/2011 11:34

I was at the supermercado yday and they had a few if those pouches in speshal so I've bagged myself a few in preparation for weaning. Just in case I can't be arsed to do the whole purée thang. My pal was telling me that the pouches are good and easy. ESP as we may even be abroad at that time tho I would prefer to not start weaning when on me hollibobs.

Today I went to the stables solo to muck out etc which was nice. Have just walked dawg with MB in pram. One word - HORRID. Mutt bogged off and cos I had the pram I couldn't leg it after the dog. Spent ten mins wondering if the dog would ever return. Arrrgghhhh!

This arvo I will be catching up with a work colleague or two and their baybees. Will be nice!!! I can put the trauma of the dog walk will be a distant memory.

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 12:45

To cut down on the arsedness of pureeing, I do everything for the week on a Sunday which takes about half an hour and does 7 lunches and dinners. Job's a good'un. Those Ella pouches are ace though. The prune one was particularly special the next day Grin

SilverSky · 01/02/2011 17:38

Does Rastus get same lunches all week? I need to fo' bit of research into this weaning lark!

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 18:09

Yeah lunches and dinners as a rule although i had a surfeit of cod and green beans in cheese sauce so he's been alternating that with pasta bol this week. Lentils, tomatoes and basil for lunches. I, and also casp i think, do veggie based lunches and meat based dinners, although to start you will need carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and sweet potatoes and that will see you through the first 3 weeks or so with one solid meal a day.

I'm lucky as Rastus will eat practically anything so i have fun with his recipes - herbs, gentle spices like black pepper or nutmeg, that kind of stuff. And garlic, always some garlic :-)

CurlyCasper · 01/02/2011 18:13

interwebs and laptop pissing me about again! On phone again.

Pureeing is occasional here. Didn't last long. squeaks is happy with tiny pieces, mashed whatever and finger food. But yoghurts are your best friend. And the odd pouch for when time is short. We also have emerg rusks which make a quick meal.

Plain pasta disappears in seconds if handed to her.
She adores baby rice cakes
chunks of banana great but get everywhere
chunks of cheese vanish.

Yet she's actually not a fan of carrots. Hmm

CurlyCasper · 01/02/2011 18:19

but beware of baby garlic breath!

CurlyCasper · 01/02/2011 19:24

Back online and baby in bed. Should really be doing some tidying up...

But bugger it. silv that is exactly I don't walk dog and baby together. And if I do, dog stays on a short lead. Hope rest of day made up for traums.

Squeaks went swimming with her dad today and had a fab time. She recognised where she was and got excited before they'd even left the changing rooms. And I took her to the swings again yesterday and she seemed to really enjoy being on the baby swing. Just sat there really chilled out - which was nice because she had a really tough time with her gums yesterday.

Got the travel cot today. It's pretty big when made up, but certainly more secure. Just hope it fits in spare room at PIL's (along with us).

cunty please do report back on flight experience - particularly WRT milk etc. We're flying shortly after Squeaker's 1st birthday.

SilverSky · 01/02/2011 19:43

Trouble is I have no choice but to do them together as am usually home alone. So it's both or not at all mutt is already losing out so am trying to at least keep walks to a minimum once a day. If the dawg was better trained could accompany me on rides but can't be trusted!! Bit of a bugger really.

Oh and my piece of shite phone keeps changing on to in, of to if and vice versa. Hence lot of my postsake no bleeding sense.

Wrt weaning tips - thank you!!!

CurlyCasper · 01/02/2011 19:46

I suppose that is where I am lucky. We have an agreement - I do the baby first thing, he walks the dog. And we have a big garden I can chase her around when Squeaks is asleep. That just about keeps mutley happy. I don't know how I'd cope with a horse too! So much respec, innit.

OkieCokie · 01/02/2011 21:57

I loved feeding mini oke real food which I loved cooking for him. He ate anything and everything and was really good until about 18 mths then became a bit more fussy. Beef, chicken and lamb casseroles were popular in our house. I am not sure what he survives on now. I spent ages sourcing wheat and egg free pizza bases to make pizza with him at the weekend which he loved doing with his daddy, placing toppings on and watching it cook and would he eat it? Would he hell! Oh well, like anything I assume it is a phase.

Moo and Vag I have iced the cakes.

FannyPriceless · 01/02/2011 22:06

I would like to interupt this broadcast to make the following announcement:

Moving is Hell!!!! AAAAAARRRRRGGGHH!
AngryAngry

That is all.

CUNextTuesday · 01/02/2011 22:09

Oh poor fanfare

SilverSky · 02/02/2011 08:46

fanza it's 'orrible I agree! Gotta focus on the end goal which will be worth all the aggro.

okies typical!!! My SIL kids used to be brilliant eaters then all of a sudden they would rather starve themselves to death that have the tiniest bit of brocolli.

Have you made yummy cupcakes again?? I really must find my inner housewife/chef -ness as it's hiding and it needs to make an appearance.

This morning has already got off to a bad start!!!! Bloody garage where I am taking the car to be fixed. I'm told to be there for 830 which is no easy task. HI is on stable duties. So I get to garage, which is fine to be told that the courtesy car is out and won't be back for half an hour!!!! WTF !!! So now I'm sat on a manky forecourt with MB asleep in the back waiting for some car which won't have isofix. So then I'll have to wrestle with seatbelts and shiz all day. Why it couldn't have been tmw as we've only got one thing on and it would have been easier. Not to mention I will have to faff around with putting fuel in it before I can even go anywhere.

I feel like telling them to shove it and going home to bed and staying there.

Cosmosis · 02/02/2011 08:50

sorry fans you'll get there. I prescribe a G&T.

AlpinePony · 02/02/2011 09:01

The power of FESH compells you!

The real life friend that curly introduced me to started her new job yesterday with my client. I was at the client's office yesterday when curlyfriend pops up and says "ello sailor" (or something similar) - turns out her job is actually on the client team I work with. Small world.

fanny If you're on a house-moving roll you can do mine too. We're on a major budget right now so having to do it ourselves - which means when we get the keys next friday the first thing I'm doing is scrubbing it down, then just doing carloads of boxes for a week so that when we hire the van it's only stuff which won't fit in the car. JB will cycle the bikes round etc.

curly Your hair is gorgeous - are you ramping up to be one of those glam ones at the school gates who competes over wardrobe? Wink I intend to be one of those who either i) sends him off on a bicycle and a shiny euro coin or ii) barely slows the car as I shove him out the open door.

Alpy I have to confess to being confuddled by removal firms. I've moved loads of times, and normally use a horse trailer. Confused That's just me, though.

My current style of dropping child off is to run up to playschool pushing pram, out of breath and hoping noone notices I am wearing boots which leave little bits of mud everywhere I go.

Cosmosis · 02/02/2011 11:00

we had a removal firm who did all the packing for us

We are thinking it may be time for a new moggie.

AlpinePony · 02/02/2011 11:37

boxer I used movers once and it was a totally painless experience - I'm kind of tempted to use the same guys for the big stuff. By the time you work in the van hire + time + energy + enormous argument about a wardrobe stuck halfway up the stairs you may as well have just paid someone else to take the strain. Plus it involves two absolutely beautiful blond haired, green eyed Dutch boys in their 20s.

cossie Exciting! Are you going to go to a rescue centre and see what they've got or get a wee one?

cunty This is for you because I know you sometimes worry about homme's involvement. I'd forgotten until today - but there was a man on hols who'd taken the nanny (kids had particularly poncey names) - he actually texted the nanny to say he could hear the children! Grin

My dog has weed on the bed (last night) and the baby's chair (this morning) after going completely nuts. ARRGGGHHHHHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH.

CurlyCasper · 02/02/2011 13:01

oh fanny. Sorry it's such a 'mare. Should I add something a little stronger to the Red Cross package I'm bringing to you? Wink

Thanks for the flattery alps. But I definitely think Squeaks will be one of those thrown out the back of a vehicle kids and I'll have me slippers hidden in the footwell Grin

silv garages are a PITA. Mind you, the mechanic who MOTd my wheels this week said "this car's no bloody use to me, there's nothing wrong with it".

honey Is HairyMoo just being a pain or is there an element of claiming territory as he becomes a adult? Hope it's not the latter. Just be careful not to clean up with products containing ammonia - as that leaves a scent that is the same as sticking up a sign saying "please piss here". And then have a gin and put your feet up. Far too much exertion for one day.

CUNextTuesday · 02/02/2011 14:26

alps i can see that being hom in not many more years :-) Although if he moves up to the Lakes to set up his garage and i stay down here for a while cos my salary will have to pay for the new house up there till i find a decent job, his argument will be low quality.

That is the latest plan BTW. 'Where am i going to live if you are selling the house to buy a garage and deposit on a house up there?' says I. 'Oh well i will ask my mum if you and Rastus can move in there' Hom breezily replies. Hmm
