2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

Hurray Silver! You are allowed to not ride in that rain, but fab for getting on and riding today. Obviously grooming is one of the first things to go when you have limited time. I know of one very well known show producer who never grooms her horses, just brings them out of the field and washes them before shows. She rides them lots though and schools them, so they win, even though she doesn't brush them every day.

The Haybar was £60 which is pricey, but big horse was a 800kilo one horse stable destruction machine. A friend has them in all her stables and even the 18.3hh heavyweight couldn't break it by sitting on it. It DID come off the wall, but there are no sharp edges and they last forever. Big horse did his best to customise it with his teeth and hooves and failed. It saved me soooo much scooping pissy hay out of his bed, and again has saved me what it cost me in not having so much wasted hay, as well as saving time. You can make them out of a shaped piece of ply but if you are concerned about destruction it is better to wait till you can afford the real thing (or get it as a romantic present Confused. Obviously you don't have to get one. I was just mentioning things that helped me.

Anyway, my day - today I has mostly been knackering my knee. Great.

Backinthebox · 18/01/2011 18:02

BTW sorry non-horsey FESHes to turn this thread a bit horsey. But it is all in the name of getting one of our number back on the path to her old life, as much as you can with small people around!

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2011 19:36

No worries, all in the name of a good cause.

I have just ordered one of those books too. Very handy for his shifts etc. And he keeps forgetting what we have planned.

Cosmosis · 18/01/2011 19:49

well I am miserable now. I have been doing actual sums and I don't think we can afford for me to go back 4 days, it's going to have to be 5. Arse. I will actually only be going to work to pay the mortgage. That and childcare is my salary. Depressing. obv we won't actually work it that way as that would not be fair, but that's the reality of it.

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2011 19:54

so sorry to hear that cossie. I would be in the same position if SFF didn't do shifts. I take it you've already offset the not-earning the cash in the first place V paying for childcare? Have you taken into account childcare vouchers and tax credits (assuming both available to you)?

Sorry if trying to teach you to suck eggs, but I've had to go over and over it to make it work.

CluckyKate · 18/01/2011 20:18

Sorry to hear about your knee Box - what have you done this time??? Did the Osteo manage to fix your back???

Today I have bought this lovely book and am looking forward to an idyllic year with Mopther Nature, LC and da baybee.

Well done on taking action Silv. Like HI, MrCK has come to understand that if I don't get my horsey fix then life is pretty fucking miserable. Occasionally he forgets and needs reminding but that doesn't happen often. In fact, I think he is counting the days 'til I'm back in the saddle even more than I am Grin

Bad news on the work front Cossie - is pretty galling to see exactly how much goes on childcare. Remember that you can both save on Childcare vouchers to maximise the benefit.

OkieCokie · 18/01/2011 20:27

I love the idea of that book. And I know what Box means about becoming super organised. I have never felt so organised since having children and precision planning is key. I am in the north visiting the parents and it is nice to have the extra pairs of hands. Mini Oke is having a week off nursery and he is loving spotting sheep, cows and tractors all of which he really only sees in books. Just had a mad hour though as Peppa shit all the way through her vest and outfit and then 30 mins later mini oke puked everywhere due to coughing so much. It was pretty grim.

SilverSky · 18/01/2011 20:30

costa we worked out that if I worked 4 days a week I would only earn a few quid extra a month and it wouldn't cover the childcare and HI said it wouldn't be worth it. Me going back 3 days a week means things will be different to our "old" lifestyle and we'll just have to see how it works out. My boss said that these new hours will be on a probationary basis so If they think I am not up to scratch on a three day week then I guess they'll ask me to do more days or I'll be looking for something else. I do feel for you cos it's crap. Mh mate at work wants to cut her hours and has worked out that after her contribution to the mortgage and childcare she'll only be taking home £1 an hour.

Thanks to all for allowing us horsey gals bore you take over the fred. I appreciate it and I apologise in a non FESH manner for being so bloody needy and dense wussy.

curls am sure this organiser is going to be my saviour. Well it will if we use it properly!!! Just need to train HI to use it and refer to it.

SilverSky · 18/01/2011 20:35

*wouldn't cover the extra days childcare if I worked a fourth day

SilverSky · 18/01/2011 20:39

box plz to send link to haybar. Sounds veh veh interesting.

okok soz to hear about the shite and vom sesh. The delights of motherhood eh?

moo does VAG have you hostage still?

Backinthebox · 18/01/2011 20:47

Cluck it did not like putting up a fence between my chickens and ducks. (Fence is essential to stop the ducks trashing the whole place!) A quick Google suggests that I have put a lot of repeated little bits of stress on it while using my knees to take the strain with rather than my back while my back was gone. I do have 2 knees, but I have favoured the left knee since being kicked in the right knee. T'internet says the cure is to do nothing with it till it doesn't hurt any more. Hmm. Can't see me doing nothing for a while! Anyway, back lady has fixed my back now. Off to see her next week to see if she can do anything with my knee Hmm

Now laydees, where's Alpy with a bit of righteous indignation and rapier witty sarcasm when you need her? Having told us how much we can add to the mortgage in Sept last year we went ahead and got planning permission for an extension and have a builder lined up to start work in a few weeks time. Only the bank have now decided they can't lend us as much money as - get this - I am a housewife. Confused
"Err," said OH to the nice man on the phone in India, "she's actually a highly paid professional who is just taking a couple of months out to do milky bar duties."
Bank man says "oh, no, no, no! We have no proof she will not like it lots and decide to never to return to work once she has her mitts on our cash."
OH says "but she gets loadsamoney for gallavanting off to lovely places and only has to do it for a few days each month in order to be paid, she is still on the payroll of her company, and she slogged her guts out to get the job she has. Tis a dream job and she WILL be going back. In July."
Bank man says "you can always borrow the bit we will lend you, and then apply for a bit extra once we have proof she is not a housewife with a big imagination after all. That'll be an extra 1500 squiddlies please!"

Oh, fuck off Barclays, I knew I should never have had anything to do with you ever again after you screwed up my student account 20 years ago. I hate you.

Backinthebox · 18/01/2011 20:49

BTW, is anyone else really pissed off by the Dettol advert that plays music of doom while the deadly piece of banana contaminated with 2 day old flu germs makes it's way in slow motion toward the baby's mouth? Mine and Clucky's babies will be spending this summer mostly eating soil and worms. A bit of fruit I chopped up in the kitchen is most likely going to be just fine.

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2011 20:53

hear, hear. Especially once they've swallowed lots of doggy dribble!

I have one word to say ref bank boxy: Twats!. Angry

Backinthebox · 18/01/2011 20:53

Sorry Silv here's the link haybar . I got a bit carried away having a rant.

CluckyKate · 18/01/2011 21:27

But LC "no like worms" Boxer but will gladly tuck into some pony nuts scavenged from the ground!!

Barclays knob-jockeys....student account cock-up is exactly why I won't touch Lloyds with a bargepole. There must be someone out there who will lend you money though - teacher friend who is also on mat leave has managed to get a mortgage by providing a letter from her school to confirm employment.

SilverSky · 19/01/2011 02:05

Ya for link!!

I too have knackered knees. Never been a problem with them until now. Evah. Now both knees have shooting pains down the front whenever I bend them and often click!! The only reason I can think of that's caused this is the pain following my cs. Basically where I stopped using my stomach muscles to stand up or get up etc. Great so now my knees are buggered. I guess another trip to the Drs!!! I feel like an old woman.

Cosmosis · 19/01/2011 08:27

curls I can't not earn the cash or the mortgage doesn't get paid - we're on a 6 month break currently. oh well. lottery ticket Wink

I also hav sore knees.

rollerbaby · 19/01/2011 08:54

Knees? Have you been doing the sechs? Be glad to have had a mortgage break. Ours wouldn't give one which was entirely shit.

Glad all horse issues are on way to being solved. My dog had a haircut yesterday and the bitch took off too much and he looks like a bald rat.

Babymoo did a good thing lAst night. Slept from 7 til 1 and then til 7!!!! Bit of gurgling around 4 but we ignored and he went off to sleep. Hooray! Still won't take bottle though. And day naps indoors ate a fucker. I am sat here with hairdryer on full.

Cosmosis · 19/01/2011 08:59

ha ha ha at sechs.

CluckyKate · 19/01/2011 09:32

I had knackered knees after LC too ...kind of a peggy-leg thing where they were stiff wouldn't bend properly esp. going downstairs in the mornings. Took about 6 months for it to go so reckon it was hormone-related.

Poor PoochyMoo Sad - nobody likes a crap haircut.

Right, off to pack hossie bag.

CUNextTuesday · 19/01/2011 11:04

I have tennis elbow.

rollerbaby · 19/01/2011 12:55

What's going on? Cossies shagging and you're into racket sports. I'm sitting in Starbucks. Me Babymoo and my large belly.

OkieCokie · 19/01/2011 12:56

I have bruised coccyx (aka a fucked up arse)

SilverSky · 19/01/2011 12:56

moo haz you iPhone? If so download app called Baby White Noise. Tis the dogs nads. It's got all sorts of White noise - cars, hairdryer, aircon, heartbeat etc and it has a timer facility so after MB wakes and feeds anytime from 12-30-200 I reswaddle then to distract him from fighting his way out of it on goes the app for 40mins et voilà loadsa z's!! Least til 5/6am.

Our daytime sleep routine, well we don't have one unless I go to stables with MB he will sleep in car but if not as today he gets mega screamy and will only nap on me. Tho took him for walk in pram and he slept for about 50mins.

rollerbaby · 19/01/2011 12:57

A mum is eating her lunch and reading a magazine (gasp). I didn't know you were allowed to do that. (makes plan to return tomorrow).
