false alarm re nappy - all sound, no action.

i didn't want to risk a poopernova ruining her outfit before we'd even made it out properly as it's my fave of the season! Pink and blue star print top, denim dungarees , accessorised with one of her Cath Kidston bandana bibs. She looks good enough to eat Smile

stac i believe they're meant to see a dentist from when they first have any teeth. As mlic said it makes more sense just to take them when you go tho.

mlic did i read that right - a 4mo having choc buttons?! Shock

sounds as tho we're pretty similar wrt what F and E are given. F has (diluted) juice with his breakfast but v rarely any other time, if he does, it's always with a meal so it protects his teeth and also, like you said, so he's happy to drink water the rest of the time. It seems to work as he only asks for juice at breakfast as i don't think he actually realises it's possible to have it with other meals Grin

Like W, F has never had a sweet - i don't know how long its feasible to stretch that out for! At the moment, if he sees sweets in a shop, he says "Daddy's!" as DH is the only sweet-eater in the house!

CakeandRoses · 18/01/2011 09:16

was she joking mlic

CakeandRoses · 18/01/2011 09:19

memphis your mil is a prize Hmm

wrt to water - have you tried just giving him the tommee tippee to 'help himself' (with you just steering it a bit). I found with my two, they're so excited to have control of an actual cup with something in it that they start to drink the water.

Spirael · 18/01/2011 09:21

M has the same issue with onions, Cake! If I eat them then BF, or if she eats them. Though she's ok when they're really well cooked. (Soft and sweet rather than cremated!)

Loving weaning at the moment. :) We took M to Nandos on Sat (in celebration of DH passing his final exams) and she sat in the high chair at the table and happily ate stuff from the (mild!) meal platter with us. It felt like being a real family outing!

Then on Sunday I made curry at home. M polished off a huge portion of tikka masala, pilau rice, minty yoghurt and naan bread. Grin She seems to love curry, she was wolfing down korma the other week too! (No nut allergies here. Wink)

Funnily enough... I craved curry all through pregnancy and raw onions gave me terrible heartburn. There seems to be a connection!

Ack, better go... Gotta get to the first Sing and Sign class in 40 mins!

wonderstuff · 18/01/2011 09:26

Dylan only woke up once last night! I feel amazing. He still couldn't be less interested in food, he loves water from his sippy cup but really not a fan of anything else Hmm

I think that dentists must depend on your pct - Isla is going for the first time this week at 3. Actually first time I've managed to find a local NHS dentist, is a nightmare round here.

My nan thought I was very mean not allowing dd chocolate buttons at 4mo, what is it with chocolate buttons! Mind you at the weekend she was retelling how she gave my mum sherry when she was 5 months at christmas! A bit nuts my nan..

WinterChillita · 18/01/2011 09:30

cake we rent the house and the army are pretty strict about what colours you can paint - obviously you have to paint it back to magnolia again and we move so much it's not worth it. And YES I regretted that pizza big style, S vommed for 2 days straight.
memphis once L gets the hang of a cup he might drink more in the bath. L is rubbish at drinking but will drink merrily if I let her do the 'washing up' or while in the bath.
spirael I agree with the 'real family' thing, this morning all 4 of us were sat around eating brekkie, keeps him entertained too :)
S isn't sleeping today, not sure why but he's fighting it like a pro :(

memphis83 · 18/01/2011 09:44

cakes he has a cup, ive tried about 3 differnet cups hoping to get something in his mouth he pulls cup in gets a drip shudders and then the cup gets launched onto the floor!
and on subject of mil a woman who has affairs with other men in your childrens bed and then leaves them with their dad without a second thought is nuts on many levels, she has no right to give me parenting advice im just waiting for the ultimate disagreement then i never have to see her again!!

nixster28 · 18/01/2011 09:57

oo cakes outfit sounds gorgeous, where is star print top from?? i'm obsessed with anything star print to the point i almost called lo star which is kinda weird in UK but totally acceptable in west indies!

chulita is it still too early or am i being thick??? drinking in the bath??? likewise to memphis did i read that right? your mil has affairs with men in her childrens beds?????

nixster28 · 18/01/2011 09:58

forgot to mention i did one of those clay handprints with Dreya yesterday and am thinking about taking her to the local kiln as they do lovely star (oooo!) or heart shaped plates with baby's foot or handprints on. has anyone else had a go at hand or footprints in paint or clay?

memphis83 · 18/01/2011 10:01

nixter she did when they were kids before she left them, sil found condoms in her room when she was 14! classy bird!!!! luckily fil is a complete star!!!!

memphis83 · 18/01/2011 10:02

thanks ladies, think i'll just do as you suggest mlic. Dont blame your rant, sleeping all night at 9 days old, is she kidding? Hungry baby milk didn't help R sleep all night.

memphis your mil sounds a right twat. Regardless of what she's done he's your baby and you'll do what you deem best not her

cakes the room sounds gorgeous. When we get a bigger house think i'll be asking you for tips

chulita r had a crap night too, my sis is here so i hope she'll take her for an hour.

Just had a call from the school J wasnt feeling well last night but they think its home sickness, have to see how he goes. I'm sure he'll be ok though

Woodlands · 18/01/2011 10:17

spirael J loves curry too, it's quite surprising really! we've started very mild but I'm hoping he'll be OK if we introduce gradually hotter ones later on. I'm all for giving children a wide range of flavours - though i'm under no illusion that he'll eat anything other than fish fingers and chips by the time he's 3...

J is 6 months today! yay!

woodlands and spirael how do you do baby curry? i bought one of those plum baby curry sauces and added roasted butternut squash and L hated it, i love curry and im determined that he will eat them too!!

CakeandRoses · 18/01/2011 10:35

A will prob be a goth when she grows up having spent her childhood in rose-prints, stars, spots and stripes!

best dash, off to baby sensory and have given up on this pre-class bf as A seems to think my breast is hysterical Hmm

wow tsc that's amazing! i used to be an au pair and the little girl i looked after hated chocolate, sweets and cake. for her birthday she chose a fruit buffet (there were cakes for the other children!).

memphis i made a thai curry using coconut milk with chunks of butterut squash, broccoli & peppers. when we had it i fished out a chunk of squash and mashed it up for j, so he only had a bit of the curry flavour. but there were leftovers which i whizzed up into a soup on sunday, and j had some of that and enjoyed it!

i bought a load of baby food in the sainsbury's baby event to have in the cupboard as a backup. gave j some for lunch as i couldn't think what else to give him. i was having a tuna sandwich. i gave him a couple of crusts to chew on, but he does love the baby food!

wonderstuff · 18/01/2011 13:25

ASDA and Morrisons having baby events this weeken - ASDA looks good - need to persuade dh though - he's anti-walmart Hmm
Dylan mostly feeding and puking today. Off to get dd from nursery in a tick, she has managed to stay in her room and not get mummy and daddy up until the sun on her gro clock comes on for 7 nights (that's across 2 weeks) and so we are going shopping for a duplo toy.

TSC I am the same as you - got a beauticians voucher from friends when D was born, really need to cash it in and sort out my legs, not fair on poor dh, and I feel pretty revolting atm Sad
