Nice one, glad I could help :) DH has just started reading Agent Z and seems to be enjoying it.

CaptainCaveman · 02/01/2011 20:44

lol crispy no sept 2011 announcements coming from me, I can assure you! In fact, I'm off to the sterilisation clinic next week to get booked in. Deffo no more babies for us Grin

NYE was fab, really lovely with just me, dh and our friend N (he's single, for like, forever). And YES, bonus of bonuses, I played hockey today for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks. We played indoor and it was sooooo good to get my trusy old stick out again. I have missed him! Wink

UrsulaUnderTheMistletoe · 02/01/2011 21:03

Hi everyone, after a much longer offline absence than I expected! Happy New Year to all of you, especially those with babies coming, of course.

PertyPruSecretSanta · 02/01/2011 21:06

PertalinaPrudencia, just wondering did you receive a Secret Santa gift as about 10 people didn't get their Christmas cards from me and I didn't notice a message from you containing barely-concealed shrieks of delight Grin.

PertyPru · 02/01/2011 21:42

Oh Santa, sorry no not yet Sad. One of my online orders still missing too, in my boundless optimism I expect them both to arrive first thing Tuesday Xmas Smile

BBBB hope there is good news re your little relative...

DD made up a little song today when she should have been napping Hmm, 'two stockings hanging on the mantlepiece, one fell off but it didn't bump its head, no it didn't bump anything...' Grin She is being rather lovely, in between screaming fits...

Xmas presents all hits here too, esp. the baby . And a strange little french game where you have to decide whether each card (with pictures of objects/animals) belongs to a frog, a cow or a rabbit has been keeping her amused for a surprising amount of time.

hippyChristmaspotamus · 03/01/2011 09:31

morning all
just on quickly to check you're all behaving yourselves!

pert i'm still waiting for an online order too so perhaps mine will be here tomorrow as well Grin Fancy popping round to play sometime?
as for singing, DS has just started making up his own songs too And he started singing post man pa t to me yday! he's only seen it once but managed to repeat most of the song Shock The boy is obviously a musical genius!!

cc your enthusiasm is almost convincing me to dust off my hock ey stick.... almost!

blueberryboybaitonSafari · 03/01/2011 09:55

HoHoHotsAMerryChristmas · 03/01/2011 09:58

pru and hippy I hope your postmen both have to bring all your mail round in a truck tomorrow Grin

Feeling like death warmed up today, on my third cold of the hols and this one is a bastard Sad Tree is really moulting now too, I guess Christmas is over...

PertyPru · 03/01/2011 11:12

That's bad luck Hots Sad Hope you're snuggled up under a blanket with a hot toddy cuppa...

Hips I would actually! What would suit you? Free this week apart from Weds (working) and Thurs am. And DH is at home so I can come without worrying about missing the post Xmas Wink.

BBBB I like packing, shall I pop over to yours on the way or have you done it?! Grin You're going to have such a brilliant time EnvySmile

saltasaltasanta · 03/01/2011 12:22

my toe nail has just fallen off after having dropped the cot side on it last week. wah. My ILs are coming to collect me and the kids and I'm off to hospital to see if I can find a nurse to dress it for me.

saltasaltasanta · 03/01/2011 12:24

PS DH has a meeting about a possible new job today

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2011 13:03

Salta, shouldn't it be left undressed?Hmm Hope you medical adventure is fun.Smile Is the new job a good thing? If so HOORAY!!Grin

Captain, FYI no deliveries here yet. Presents that is.Wink I'm sure it will show up today.Grin

Blueberry, I look forward to your pictures.

Hots, chicken soup!

I spent last night trying to convince DH he needed to take a two week summer break. He's not onboard with the idea because he thinks it will cause his employees to want to take the same. So is that wrong? Because he doesn't take two weeks (EVER) we never have a restful weekend. Weekends are always for traveling. Don't most people in the world try to take two weeks, especially when you're given more than a month of vacation days?? I will go now and slip a link on the secret thread for you to view. It's the house I'd like to rent in July. Crispy, it is 30 minutes East of you know where. Go see...

luckoftheirish · 03/01/2011 15:10

happy new year!!! back from fab two days in london after trip to dublin... girls cranky, we are shattered and need to catch up! xx

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2011 16:45

YAY! Welcome back LUCKY!!!

CaptainCaveman · 03/01/2011 16:52

TS the question is who doesn't take 2 weeks off, even if you don't go anywhere!? Or maybe thats just me?? Grin Can't believe your SS gift still hasn't arrived! I posted that 3 weeks ago!!!

loti glad you had a lovely time!

O's speech is starting to slowly become more understandable but largely he is incoherent Hmm. His eloquence will appear with patience I'm sure.

CrispyTheCrisp · 03/01/2011 17:57

salta good luck to DH and a new job. Is it still local for you?

TS yes most people take 2 weeks at a time and in France the economy pretty much 'shuts down' in Paris in August. So what if his staff follow suit? I would have thought there would be fewer power emergencies in the summer than winter to deal with so better to have staff off then?

LOTI wow, you must be exhausted but glad you had a great time. How is the girls health now?

Decorations all down and DD1's packed lunch made for school tomorrow. Feels like things are hurtling back to normal. A bit Sad, a bit and a bit Smile

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2011 17:59

Okay, so I'm not crazy about wanting DH to broaden his horizons with a two week long beach trip.Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 03/01/2011 18:05

Broadening his horizons would be a trip to England. And you would need 2 weeks for that, given the various hairy trucker locations. 2 birds, one stone? Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 03/01/2011 18:06

We have beaches too Grin. Being an island and all that Wink

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 03/01/2011 18:24

Yes, until you've seen the majesty of Cleethorpes beach you haven't lived TS Wink

So remind me again, whose toddler has dropped their nap? DS has pretty much given up on his, which was fine till about two weeks ago, but the last two weeks he has been exhausted and crabby all day, spark out the second his head hits the pillow, then pinging awake at 6am or even earlier whereas before his usual wake up time was 6.30am onwards. Not sure if it's just the holiday hangover effect or if I need to do something I'm not doing...either way, we're all knackered.
