blueberrysantabait · 23/12/2010 09:27

Morning all

Long Post feel free to ignore!

Well last night was eventful! We went out to dinner and at 10ish I needed to ring home to check on the girls and as I did FIL was trying to ring me as DD2 had woken up coughing and was very distressed, wheezing and barking. We got home and she was slowly going blue so we hopped inthe car and headed for A&E where she wheezed a little but played the flirty baby Xmas Hmm we went to sit ing the kiddie waiting room and they checked on her and she went all horrid and floppy and grey. They checked her over nad put her on oxygen called for the paeds who popped by to check on her decided she needed steroids but was called to a NICU emergency before she could prescribe. DD2 perked up on the oxygen and was blowing raspberries and singing to the sister on duty. They suggested we popped down the corridor to the OOH docs to get the steroids and then head home as it woulf be quicker. We did and DD2 finally fell asleep as we waited, OOh doc looked at he,r never looked at the notes and promptly told me I was over reacting because I got a fright last time and there was nothing wrong with DD2. I asked him to call the A&E sister and he said they were far too busy and if she wasthat bad they would never have sent her. DH popped over to A&E to dicover this doc had signed her off the system as fit and well so unless we waited the 4 hours to see the paeds again we were stuffed! We brought her home at 3am ish and she coughed and barked through the night - GP has read the note this morning and told us to call if we need him but to let her sleep, DD1 got up at 6 as normal, DH got up too (bless him) now he is sleeping, DD2 is sleeping, DD1 is watching Mickey Mouse nad I am struggling to function.

Sorry for essay but I feel better for ranting about it.

Hooe everyone else is well and I will be back more cheery and understandable later :)

Merlion · 23/12/2010 10:21

bbb so sorry for eventful evening and hope you are all ok now.

PertyPru · 23/12/2010 10:29

Oh golly Blueberry what a night! Hope you can get some rest at some point and E sleeps it off quickly. Poor her Sad and poor you to have such a frightening and frustrating night. Tell me you had at least had a delicious dinner before calling home? Xmas Smile

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 23/12/2010 10:47

Glad I didn't log on last night what with all this cheese talk Envy I am craving runny melty rindy cheeses and thick slabs of pate like nobody's business, gah. Will have to content myself with double Gloucester.

Went into work today to discover I'd booked the day off Blush This is what happens when I don't write everything on the calendar/in my diary/put reminders in my phone! Have come home again but will have to brave our icy road to go and pick DS up later. Keep your fingers crossed for everyone's safety, especially since there is still some rather cavalier driving going on out there (yes, woman in the green car who pulled out in front of me despite clearly seeing I was there, and then gave me a cheery thank you wave for braking hard just in time, I MEAN YOU).

bbsb did you get some meds for her in the end then?

blueberrysantabait · 23/12/2010 10:53

Thanks Ladies
Pru, we did indeed have a lovely curry but have cancelled our posh dinner out for my birthday tonight as FIL stayed with DD1 until we got home and asking them to sit again tonight would be pushing just a little!

Star We spoke to the GP this morning again and he asked us to pop DD2 in when DH goes for his flu jab so they can give her then meds now as a precaution against it happening again tonight. YAY for unplanned day off butboo for crap drivers!!

I am off to find a BIG coffee somewhere and a chocolate twist too!

RedLentil · 23/12/2010 11:06

Thanks goodness she's ok. Croup is awful. Sad
And I'm bearing the poor news that Dublin airport is closed - hope it opens up in time for your dad to get through, chick.

I'm quite glad at this stage of house arrest that the children are really quite nice people. Wink

santashappychick · 23/12/2010 11:17

Not looking that good red but hoping by tom everything will be back on track!!

Bbbb fingers crossed for speedy recovery for dd2 and lots of strong coffees and hugs for you

star enjoy your day off!!

TwilightSurfer · 23/12/2010 13:37

Blueberry, I have gone the steroids route and I have waited it out on pins and needles. Can't say either route was easier. The non-steroid route I spent half the night out in the cold with both me and dd2 wrapped in a million layers breathing the fresh, moist cold air. Neither event was repeated two nights in a row. I will send positive vibes your way.

HappyChick, Fingers Crossed!Xmas Wink

Red, would you mind working your child magic on my two. I now have two walls of red marker drawings, books covering every floor in the house and attitudes from all. Xmas Envy

I can stay no longer as I need a shower. I get to shop by myself today!!!Xmas Hmm

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 23/12/2010 15:36

Blimey BBBB, i think your girls have shares in the hospital Hmm. Glad DD2 is ok - When DD2 got croup in Ireland the doc gave her steroids straight away. They worked v v quickly and she never got too bad. Maybe it was because we were camping or maybe because he knew we were moving on the next day and would be tricky to get her back to him? Hope the meds work for you too and she is right as rain by Xmas Smile

Hope you manage that ts

blueberrysantabait · 23/12/2010 16:52

DD2 is already much improved and shouting the house down. DD1 is being kind to her because she 'is a bit of a poorly chicken' All well and that is it for us and hospitals! DD1 will become co-ordinated and less accident prone and DD2 will just have to behave!

TS hope you manage to get out. I only have a turkey to collect tomorrow then we are sorted!

santashappychick · 23/12/2010 17:20

ok now i am getting seriously worried.. dublin airport has suspended all flights from 4pm Sad.. red/urs what the weather like for tonight?? {big fingers crossed]

all food/goodies in Xmas Smile

RedLentil · 23/12/2010 20:03

Watching it here too. The best thing to do is to keep watching Irishweatheronline and go to this Twitter account from where a very nice woman at the BBC is Tweeting what's going out on the Dublin airport radio channels (it's a long story!)
If you FB me your number and his flight details I'll keep you posted at this side.

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 23/12/2010 20:36

Oh No, santa Sad. Fingers x'd it all comes good for him

I am becoming buried under a mountain of presents needing wrapping. DH is watching Master & Commander, without even a slight nod of offering to help Hmm

blueberrysantabait · 23/12/2010 20:40

Crispy - I have a pile of similar proportions I think - I keep finding things I forgot I had bought.

Chinese take out for dinner here as we are not going out. Girls sleeping peacefully and I am eyeing up a present I am sure is for my birthday - it is a very non de-script box shaped box.

blueberrysantabait · 23/12/2010 20:41

Santa - I hope things change and they resume flights in the morning.

santashappychick · 23/12/2010 20:43

Thanks all. Red have fb u my no. Just worried sick he won't make and be by himself at Xmas. Fingers toes and everything crossed.

That was me last night crisp... Dh half hearted helped whilst watching a film!!

Hello almost birthday girl Grin

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 23/12/2010 22:02

All done, bar wrapping DH's presents and making crackers.
I think they can wait until tomorrow.....

Fingers, toes and plaits all crossed here for you santa Smile. Could he get a ferry tomorrow instead as a last resort?

santashappychick · 23/12/2010 22:20

Possibly crisp but then dh would have to drive to Holyhead and back to collect him Sad website say airport closed til 11pm tonight so far and it looks like it's still feckin snowing.

Will be distraught if he doesn't make it Sad

thanks for positive vibes xx

RedLentil · 23/12/2010 23:00

I'll be on the case at this side for you Chicklet. My dad made it through because he had a flight booked in one of the windows when both the airports he needed were up and running. Hopefullly that will happen to your dad too.

Here there isn't a present wrapped but there aren't a lot to wrap. We're having a NAMA-tastic Christmas. We'll be bountiful another year! Thank god we have profoundly unmaterialistic children!

We've had a delicious day together though there's pizza dough proving, biscuits made and a ginger cake made and iced. Three v. excited children at perfect ages for the whole thing too. Smile

I'd be delira with everything if only the fecking camera charger hadn't chosen yesterday to give up the ghost. Christmas with no camera is a bit Sad.

Still,we're all well and, after a few days of randomly feeling as low as I ever go for no reason I could put my finger on, it's good to feel back on the up. Smile

Love to you all, you fantastic bunch. Smile

Now for the meringues.

RedLentil · 23/12/2010 23:01

I asked dh to buy 'lots of eggs.'

We have over 30. The meringues, quiche etc. are on me. Grin

saltasaltasanta · 23/12/2010 23:03

Red - I have just borrowed this joke from somewhere else, but given that your business more or less sells words, does this mean that you aren't wholly in favour of free speech?
