kk you must be due a seriously good new year after all this, your poor thing.

Random question: what do you all have for boxing day dinner? Just wondered as my family always have cold 'meat', mash, pickles etc whereas dh's family just have sandwiches which caused a huge row between us on our first christmas together (long buildup, lots of hard work and stress from my bloody inlaws )

Xmasstac · 24/12/2010 10:12

aw mlic poor you and ds2. You both must be shattered. What is nelsons? Could that have upset him?

kk sorry bout your mum not making it up. You have had a crap time recently. Im sure you'l have a good time with ellie tomorrow.

dh dp and i said the same bout morning sex but doubtful we'l get it lol

wss happy anniversary for yesterday/today lol how did you manage to wrap a tent?

R is loaded with the cold, poor wee soul! Crap night here, she has a really bad cough, but still in good spirits. Ds is champing at the bit for tomorrow lol

Anyone up to much today? X

Xmasstac · 24/12/2010 10:16

cakes we have another family dinner as its when my family do xmas due to my uncle going to his inlaws on xmas day so we've always did it. Works well as no fighting about what day we spend where x

memphis83 · 24/12/2010 10:40

cakes this year i am doing a buffet of meats, salads, pasta dishes, cheese platter, dips, mini piza breads for kids and sping rolls etc becuase his nieces are fussy, tried to tel him i would have found it easier to cook a big meal again rather than a bloody buffet too much hassle and plates to wash, usually you get the day before to prep but im not doing it after a 3 course meal!! and on subject of laughing at me laugh it up, i only fell the second time as i was laughing too much!
mlic really wish we could all help, poor W hopefully after being sick he will settle a bit now.
on subject of sex, im still pretty scared about it all but when i pluck courage up its fine, sadly dh falls asleep so early in the eveig by the time hes up for it im shattered!!
been tescos for last bits that cost £50!! then florist for various flowers we dont have a joint bank account so i had dhs bank card and thought i deserved flowers too Grin done key lime pie my fridge is so full i dont know where to put the trifle and cheese cake? how is it possible i have a bigfger fridge than ive ever owned in my life!!!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 24/12/2010 11:17

that's a lot of cooking to do again memphis! Shock

could you simplify it by making it mainly leftovers and cold stuff rather than lots of different party food like the pasta? in your shoes i'd have literally just done: leftover cold meat plus other cold meat like ham, mashed potatoes, different pickles, salad plus any other random stuff you already have such as sausage rolls.

i expect you've bought tons of stuff now though.

i love love love christmas dinner but really look forward to boxing day one too (when else would i eat pickled red cabbage with mash!?)

two roasts you mean stac?

memphis83 · 24/12/2010 11:46

cakes we will only have left over turkey which im serving up, if i dont do past and mini pizza the kids in dhs family will literally not eat, ive bought all the party food stuff but made sure they have same cooking time so can throw it in oven at the same time, and the pasta and salad i can do in the morning dh insists hes going to help but he said he would help today and so far he has watched half a box set of dvds

CrimboCakeandRoses · 24/12/2010 13:22

ah you're a better woman than i, memphis. I'm terribly intolerant of fussy eaters and really begrudge cooking something different for them. My saving grace is that I will happily do whatever's required for people who won't eat certain things for ethical, religious or allergy reasons.

memphis83 · 24/12/2010 14:01

cakes i usually dont do it, i hate it when children dictate they will only eat certain things for example they will only drink blackcurrant cordial something that the sheer smell of makes me gag! when i met dh he hardly ate anything now he gets what hes given and the only thing he wont eat is parsnip, he would go hungry or live off supernoodles if he didnt eat what hes given!

Xmasstac · 24/12/2010 14:05

yeah cakes 2 roasts but xmas day is turkey and boxing dax is chicken and ham but still 2 full dinners i usually cant eat for a week afterwards

memphis your defo a better woman than me, i'd have chased them but you seem organised x

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 24/12/2010 15:52

Having a shit Christmas Eve :(

He has cried all day. He had an hour nap, then slept 10.30 to 12.15 (and so did I while dh was working from home and watching E at the same time) and had 20 mins in my neighbour's house, but other than that he's just cried. Even if we got him to laugh, he'd be laughing and then his face would crumple, like the old days - just very, very unhappy.

Dh keeps saying he won't go out as it's not fair on me. Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, I will have to cook the pavlova, cauli cheese and gravy tonight when they've gone to bed and then order a takeaway and flake on the couch so he'd may as well be out having fun! I'd escape from it given half a chance! He's just dropping off now. Maybe I'll get chance to start some of the cooking rather than have to do it all tonight.

Oh and we don't have a tradition for boxing day cake. We just do whatever we feel like!

WhatSheSaid · 24/12/2010 17:34

No tradition here for Boxing Day cake , usually just leftovers (and sometimes a trip to the beach).

kk sorry things are so crap, hope it improves

stac we wrapped the tent by using 8 rolls of wrapping paper (dh got it on special yesterday in teh supermarket) and just having each roll going from top to bottom of the tent! I'll put a piccie on the Fb page sometime.

mlic glad you got a little bit of sleep, really hope things improve for Christmas Day (and all the other days)

Hey gorgeous ladies, just stopping in to say happy Christmas to everyone. Miss you all loads and will try and get online in the new year.

We're insanely busy, work has started on the theatre, gwen and I have colds, dh and I are trying for another baby, and life is generally manic. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas xxx

kkfairybrains · 24/12/2010 23:47

Needle you are mad!! as if you aren't busy enough! best of luck and wishing you a lovely christmas!
Oh and if anyone gets a chance over the next day or so we need a new thread title!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 24/12/2010 23:49

Happy christmas wss !

Really hope things are better there mlic

Couldn't post earlier as both mac and bb playing up for some reason!

Father christmas will be here in 12 minutes everyone!!! Get to sleep (hearing this babies?!)

WhatSheSaid · 24/12/2010 23:51

Needle dh and I started trying for dc2 when dd1 was 6 months old...took about 16 months to get pg, though that could be because I'm old getting on a bit. I know lots of people who got pg straight away with the 2nd and have a gap under 18 months.

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 25/12/2010 09:44

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Xmas Grin
Xmasstac · 25/12/2010 10:47
