Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 23/12/2010 16:24

I went to tesco yesterday and it wasnt any busier than the usual Sat.

Im going into town tomo to a friend's flat. Its a very busy town so not sure what it'll be like on xmas eve, horrendous prob.

The baby group was quite quiet today, 2 dads there though!
DP would never go to a baby group on his own Hmm

WinterChillita · 23/12/2010 16:45

dh I've spent many an hour trying to convince DH to take L to a toddler group. One even offered free bacon butties and he still wouldn't go...just one of those things!

Trudyla · 23/12/2010 17:26

Hi all,

Just wanted to wish you all a wonderful Christmas Time. Do you have to do lots of travelling? I hope everyone gets there safely.

Quick question. Does any of your LOs do a lot of straining and moaning? M has just started this and it sounds like she is in so much pain. I'm not sure what to do. I had cut out dairy from my diet for 2 months previously (for different reasons, nothing to do with her belly, but with her having constant sniffles) and have just started to drink milk again in my tea the last couple of days. So I wonder if that's anything to do with it? Any ideas? Ta.

DH: My DP would NEVER go to a baby group. Although, the bacon butties might convince him Xmas Grin

Cake I hear ya about being overly worried about your children. I'm a worrier as it is (I sometimes check DP is still breathing in the middle of the night, freaks him out if he wakes while I'm holding my finger under his nose Xmas Blush ) and I'm even worse with M. Thank god for the Angel Care breathing monitor. IMO best thing EVER!

KK You poor thing without water. I once had to be without warm water and that was bad enough and pre baby. Hang in there!

Spirael M had lots of hair when she was born and held on to it quite well, but I'm afraid it's going now. Everytime I rub some oil on her head for the cradle cap, I have some soft little baby fluff in my hands and feel sooo bad.

Memphis Haha at L stealing your pizza. M is miles away from that. I really think she is not ready to wean yet, even though I can't bloody wait. Breastfeeding has started to be painful again Xmas Sad

MLIFF Well done on losing the dummy. I'm thinking about doing that soon. She normally goes to bed without it and if I'm lucky she sleeps through, but more often than not she wakes and can only be calmed down with the dummy. How do you calm him down at night then?

WinterChilita Your poor DD. I hope Cake's remedy will help her.

Ooops. She's up from her nap. Better go. Hi to everyone I've missed and again

Merry Christmas!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 23/12/2010 18:01

No, my dh would never look after both children all day go to a babygroup either. I have a friend who is a stay at home dad and he says the women that go to groups are fine, but the men are funny with him (probably because he's built like a brick shit-house) so he doesn't go anymore.

trudylar ds has strained and moaned all his life so can't help there I'm afraid! We are only going to my Mam's which is a 20 minute drive. Weirdly, although we're right on the coast and they're further inland, the snow here is worse! Odd. I just use reassurance - try not to pick him up but rub his back, pat his tummy. He cried for it at first but I think he knows now he won't get it so settles quicker. The first 24-48hrs are the hardest and then it gets lots easier IME

Lol at the pizza memphis, I must have missed that last night! Maybe he's ready for you to give him finger foods (if you wanted) like a floret of broccoli or something, see what he makes of it!

W was 18lb 11oz today! He's crept above the 75th centile! I'm so pleased.

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 23/12/2010 19:51

Well done William! Xmas Grin extra helping of turkey for you on Sat lol.

I gave Dylan a bit of broccoli earlier, he made a funny face and a big mess. Not sure how much he actually ate!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 23/12/2010 19:51

trudylarrrr eh mlic? Grin congrats on W's weight though - you've done so well with him

trudyla good to hear from you. mlic's ds2 is likely to be dairy-intolerant so it may well be having the milk in tea that's causing the groaning problems with M. chulita's given up dairy for her bf son and she says it has to be a total ban otherwise he'll react to it ("Oi Mummy, put the chocolate down")

soo with you on the angelcare monitor - it would be 'what would you save from a house-fire' possession, obv after the babies Grin

the only problem is i'm too reliant on it so when A is in her car seat or pram i have to check her all the time (usually waking her up)

i also have to take it if we go on holiday - which drives dh mad. if you need to do that then i recommend taking M's usual cot mattress with you so you can sandwich the angelcare between the travel cot base and the cot mattress. dh obv loves the fact i pack her mattress too Grin

I won't go into the time i woke my mother's household up screaming because i thought dh had died in his sleep Hmm Blush

dh has been to a saturday dads' group a few times and enjoyed it altho keeps forgetting to go as its only monthly. these days he usually take F for breakfast at a local cafe every sat morning. just need him to start taking A too now!

everyone all sorted for CHRISTMAS!!??

i suddenly went mad earlier and treated dh to a v expensive present in an unusually impulsive moment so i'm now in a frenzied state trying not to tell him about it!

WinterChillita · 23/12/2010 19:59

Hello trudyla, good of you to drop in before christmas [festive wave] Like cake said, I've stopped dairy for DS. If I have even the tiniest bit (like a mini sausage roll) he suffers the next day. He usually grunts/arches his back/cries/wriggles and squirms like he's trying to get away from his own guts/throws up and has green foamy poo. It's very obvious when I accidentally have some (like on Sunday when chatting to old friends at church and downed a proper cuppa without realising...)

cake so pleased to hear you're addicted to your monitor too, so are we. Thankfully DH is too so both of us are on the same track - and yes, we've both woken each other on separate occasions by leaning over each other's face to see if they were alive Blush
What did you get your DH?

CrimboCakeandRoses · 23/12/2010 20:21

chulita a nigh-on top of the range iPad Shock

Trudyla · 23/12/2010 20:25

Thanks MLIFF cake and WC about the dairy tips. Looks like it might be the offender. Oh dear, what am I gonna give her once I no longer breast feed? Arrrgh. Opens up a whole new set of problems.

Great to hear that you all love the breathing monitors. DP was very sceptical at first but he loves it too now and couldn't live without it. I always check on her in the pram or the sling too and sometimes poke her and she wakes. Found a good trick now though, I can just touch her fontanelle and I can feel it pulsate. It doesn't wake her but I can check on her. Brilliant.

Seems like all we need is a monitor for the hubbies now. Xmas Grin Sorry, but I had to LOL at you screaming the house down Cake. That sooo could have been me. Good to know I'm not the only crazy worried one.

What pressie did you get? My main present for DP was cancelled so it's gonna be a shite lean Christmas for him. Poor thing. Oh well, it's all about the spirit and all.

See ya.

memphis83 · 23/12/2010 20:29

cakes im excited...what did you get dh?
mlic trying L with finger foods on xmas day as we will all be eating it will keep him busy, sat him on sofa tonight while i ate as hes been clingy since i got from work and my table is so full of xmas stuff i cant eat at it and his little eyes lit up and bam! his hand is full of pasta bake all down him and me and cream throw, he looks gutted when i prized it from his clutches!
oh and on subject of falling on snow i can do one better, went to my uncles grave today tried to pick up vase that was frozen to grave i pulled and pulled and whoosh off i went tumbling onto an old mans grave next door i did apologise to him then as i stood up i went forward and slipped on snow face 1st my mum thought it was the funniest thing ever im surprised she didnt pee herself!!
dh the thought of watching birth now i know what its like truely does scare me makes my lady bits tingle!! haha

memphis83 · 23/12/2010 20:32

WinterChillita · 23/12/2010 21:04

LOL at my name being shortened to wc, hach! That's going to have to go... Grin
cake Shock an iPad? wow! lucky man :)
trudyla I wonder the same thing about weaning, DD lived of weetabix and milk. I wonder if babies can have Oatly?
memphis eek at falling onto graves! and L certainly sounds like he's itching to have a go at eating something proper :)

WinterChillita · 23/12/2010 21:05

off

memphis83 · 23/12/2010 21:25

chulita he puts a spoon in his mouth when i feed him and chews as he watches us eat im just a bit worried about him choking on finger food as he has gagged badly a few times mainly with dh so hes already shaved years off his daddys life by scaring him! i only fell on the one grave! (because falling onto one is so much better! bloody ugg boots have no grip!!)
i keep thinking ive finished my wrapping then i find another present just found 4 more!! after those i am binning the wrapping paper so i cant do any more!!
just done my cheese cake bases tomorrow is going to be a looong day!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 23/12/2010 21:54

45 minutes of screaming :(

So bad that I thought I'd check the label of the hipp organic jar he had last night and tonight. It says 'no added milk products' and 'gluten free'. God help me if he's intolerant to anything else...

I gave him Calprofen at 8.45. Nada. Anbesol at 9.10. Nada. Last ditch attempt at overdosing my son I gave him some Nelsons at 9.20. Nada. He reulctantly drank about 4oz milk and I finally managed to calm him down. It wasn't a feed that calmed him iyswim, I just had to try everything and something (or nothing) worked and he's finally gone back off.

It's just if it is teeth, why did the 'drugs' not work - they're supposed to be effective in 15mins. And if it's something he's eaten, there's only vegetables, water and sunflower oil in the jar. Am I being stupid? Am I missing something? See I'm not a panicker (well, not really) but the thought of going through this every time he tries something new whilst being weaned fills me with complete dread

I like thant Ewan can tell me what's wrong. Roll on the days of being able to talk :(

SpiraelingSnowflakes · 23/12/2010 22:07

What were the vegetables, MLIFF?

M screams after eating banana or if I eat raw onions and then BF her. Not sure why, but I'm just avoiding both for the time being!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 23/12/2010 22:17

Carrot, potato, cauliflower and peas. All fairly innocuous I thought? He's had a fair bit of carrot and cauliflower before as I batched up a mix of carrot, broccoli and cauliflower. He's had peas before, definitely once maybe more and I can't remember him having potato before.

Just doing a bit of googling and come across this: 'The most commonly allergic foods? Cow?s milk, cheese, soya, eggs, peanuts, wheat, gluten, yeast, corn, rye, chocolate (often the milk in chocolate!), coffee, tea, alcohol (it is the chemicals and preservatives in alcohol, not the alcohol per say), citrus fruit (lemons, oranges), white potato, beef, various spices, tomato, malt, pork, chemical additives, colourings and preservatives in food (especially tartrazine, sodium benzoate, aspartame).

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 23/12/2010 22:54

Another 30mins of inconsolable ds2.

Definitely something going on isn't there.

CrimboCakeandRoses · 23/12/2010 23:01

soo my last few posts have been stealth posts before rushing off to do something else so apologies if i'm been a bit ignorant to anyone

dh is gonna feel terrible come Christmas day. he just inadvertently sniggered at his meagre pile of presents (not actually that meagre anyway actually but they're just small in size).

mlic it may have just been a super-bad teething episode or something else random like over-tiredness perhaps? may not be another intolerance but i guess you'll need to test potato out again to be sure. fingers crossed it's not.

you ok after your fall? hope it was just your pride that was bruised!

i once crashed my car on ice then fell on my arse as i went to inspect the damage. cool moves cake.

sorry memphis but had to laugh at your rolling around on graves Grin

deffo sounds like L is well up for food!

trudyla thanks for the fontanelle tip Smile

CrimboCakeandRoses · 23/12/2010 23:02

oh no Sad mlic xposted with you there

did he have anything else earlier on?

berries (via my bm) appears to set A off with terrible pain

CrimboCakeandRoses · 23/12/2010 23:13

oh was chatting to tsc via fb earlier. all ok there they've just been out and about lots doing christmas socialising (and feeding frankles natch)

Xmasstac · 24/12/2010 01:16

happy xmas eve all

I havent managed to catch up on the thread its been kind of manic here. Rileigh is loaded with the cold and was supposed to be at yorkhill today for her reflux check up but i got up to a flat tyre and the nuts welded on with one of those compressor guns so we had to call the AA Blush anyway looks like the alloy has a dent in it due to the poxy potholes so had to rearrange hospital app. Then mil's pipes burst in her house so we had to help out with that. Managed to get all the wrapping done. Sorry another me me me post.

For those who were asking about ds and school, he loves school and generally doesnt have a problem going as he is very popular etc but since R was born I havent been doing the school run in the morning and basically he is a lazy wee bugger. Also he didnt want to go in on Wednesday as it was the christmas service so he decided to play act. I had a sneaking suspicion he was at it later in the day when he started eating all in sight. So I asked him and he admitted it. He has been told that from now on if he is unwell he will be sent to school until they phone me to go get him. Obviously if he is really ill I wont do that lol

I am knackered so will have to catch up tomorrow. spireal have you came up with new thread names? Yours are always good xx

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 24/12/2010 02:09
