Morning all,

Charley-Good to see you back and glad Arlo is doing well with his feeding.
Bit of a dumb question but what exactly is a nasal aspirator? Is it something you put up their nose to get the gunk out,or something?
Ds still has his cold and now I've also got it.He was so grumpy yesterday afternoon, what with his cold and probably the after effects of his jabs, that I gave him some Calpol and it was wonderful.I then did a really awful thing though-he feel asleep after the calpol at 4pm and it was only when Dh asked later on what time his next feed was, that I realised we'd missed one out.I cant believe I done that! He was due another at 7.30ish,but he got it at 11pm and even then I still had to wake him up to give it to him.so...he slept from 4-11 which is when i fed him and put him to bed.I really thought he'd wake up at about 2 or 3am for another feed but he didn't and slept right through to 6 this morning.I still can't believe I did it.

Welshie-glad the jabs went well for ds yesterday. My ds also didn't cry too much yesterday-they're probably getting used to them now.

Morning mums hugssss

hiya charley great post its nice to see you have cracked Ds feeding, william just snacks hardly ever takes a full feed which is 5 oz when i spoke to my HV she said thats good, you shouldnt over feed him, thats why im amazed hes so big lol

Katz awwww how lovely taking your mum, when my mum was here i took her on all my holidays, will be so strange going to butlins next week without her. Bless her she loved the bingo, and one time after really bad week of work, i just called her up said right mam were off to scarborough for the weekend. We had a great time lol she out danced me at one of the big hotels, which by the way wed crashed a wedding party lol that was my mam, and in the morning im sat with sun glasses on a breakfast and shes full of the joys of spring , was so funny.

Lua im sure your little one if fine , and especially with her rolling over, so she must have a lot of strenght in her muscles, i think sometimes HV draw the line just for the sake of it.

Bubs get better soon , i do so hate having a cold, william was a bit snuffly a few weeks ago. I tryed calvol in some warm water in a bowl that certainaly worked keep warm.

Sfmum is good to se you ahve so much support hugss

Lynny morning hunny

OK what a party i went to last nite , lol good fun
must remember not to drink lol, and the new range of underwear and dress up cloths lol are amazing im going to be my best customer.

morning ladies
much better night dd was down at 8.30 woke for feed a t 4.40 then back to sleep until 7.45. she is now on her first nap of the day (i hope)
i feel human again today. zombie no more

bubb- nasal aspirator there are a couple of designs/ types on the market, they are not in very common use in the uk. i am a convert since dd had a nasty cold - the one i use is not for the faint hearted. there is a part that you place by baby nostril, it leads to a bubble type thing which has a filter, that leads to a tube, and at the other end its a thing you place in your mouth and suck- no boggies for breakfast i promise you control the intensity- it works once you get past the yuck factor.

sorry about the inarticulate discription hope more or less clear - i still need cofffee!
boots sell them btw and a few stores stock different models in baby first aid kits

charly- glad baby doing better

welshie-i can see the point of the comment but in spite of the trouble, tirednes and fear at my own cluelessnes i have loved the first 3 months. dd now nearly 16 wks and it has been amazing to watch her develop

hope all have good day- in mood to go online and spend money on myself.

welshmum · 21/09/2005 09:34

Reading back sfx that did sound a bit harsh but I'm afraid I don't enjoy the first 3 months much at all - it's mostly to be got through for me, that's not to say that there haven't been bits that have been quite lovely but mostly......difficult....

sfxmum · 21/09/2005 09:53

welshie- of course not i am on one of my very rare bright and shiny happy moods so bear with me. usually not like this - but the powers of sleep..

Lua · 21/09/2005 11:06

Morning all!
Looks like it will be sunny enough to wash nappies!
Hi Charley, good to heartrhings might be improving. I'm particularly impressed by your eating control! I am quite the opposite. After my limited diet during pregnancy, I am eating all the junk I can !

But Welshie... Have you thought about giving birth to a 3 month old?!?! No thanks!

Coop - beautifull DDs! Yopushould post them in the yahoo site, where they can be a bit bigger....

teabelly · 21/09/2005 11:19

Arrrrhhhh I come back from holiday and there are far too many posts to catch up with God and my family think I can talk for England!

Hope everyone's ok - just scanned through real quick - Katz sorry to hear about Pebbles

Jonah - I also have the dark line (linea something) still, if I rememeber correctly from having ds it faded over time, but didn't fully go for almost a year

Holiday was fab - well for me anyway poor dh - he's so unused to having the kids 24/7 he now needs another holiday to recover! Went for dh's birthday hot air ballon ride when we came back and it was fab - well once I managed to calm myself over the whole fire burning above my head thing , but I did have a good time all in all and if you're interested in that kind of thing I'd say definitely have a go!

Ds started (big school) nursery yesterday and isn't best pleased that he'll be going back again today , but it's tough - he'll get used to it again [evil mummy emoticon]

Will try and catch up properly later...had better attend to dd who thinks that 1 1/2 hours in her bouncy chair whilst mummy catches up on mumsnet is quite enough

Take care, x

berolina · 21/09/2005 12:11

errrr morning (?)
welcome back tea!
charley, glad to hear you've cracked it!
welshie - ds was great for his 1st lot of jabs, just cried v briefly. You have the 5 in 1 right? Here they have the 6 in 1. After the event I found some stories on the internet about some unexplained deaths after having the brand he'd had (hexavac) . reviewed it all with dh and he said it sounded like an allergic reaction. ds just had a slight fever for a couple of hours and after that was fine. Still worried though. Will try and have him given a different brand when he goes back next month.
bubb, also did something that me last night - forgot to take ds to bed! He was asleep in the moses basket in the living room which is next to the bedroom. Next thing I knew I woke up at 3am in bed, ds crying - but not next to me! He was in the mb. Still don't know how I managed that - my 1st thought was that someone must have broken in and moved ds!

MrsWednesday · 21/09/2005 12:29

Glad you had a good holiday Tea - I smiled a wry smile reading about your DH who needs another holiday to recover (my DH would be the same I think).

Some great pictures on the members profiles, we Junies have some gorgeous babies. I don't have any digital pictures of DS2 because DH's digital camera is broken unfortunately but he is a lovely baby, honest

Katz, so sorry to read about Pebbles.

DS1 had a lovely third birthday yesterday I think. We had a family day, just the four of us, went to the park and to a farm in the afternoon, ate cake etc and of course he got loads of presents (the majority Spiderman related). We'll have a little kids party on Friday morning with friends then a group of us with boys born around the same time have hired a soft play area for another party in a couple of weeks so he's still got lots of birthday fun to come.

Which is probably a good thing as something momentous is happening today - the dummy monster is coming to take his dummies away and swap them for a light saber (or life saver as DS1 calls them). It's definitely time to get rid of the bloody things but I do feel really mean for doing it (have just dipped them in vinegar so I can tell him that now he's a big boy dummies start to taste horrible - an idea I nicked from someone on Mumsnet). Keep your fingers crossed for me that all goes ok....

Charleypops, great news that DS is feeding a bit better and glad you are feeling better in yourself. This baby lark is hard work - I agree with Welshie, the first 3 months are to be endured rather than enjoyed.

Went out on Friday night leaving DH in charge of all feeds during the night and DS2 decided to sleep through from 7.30pm - 6.30am!!!! Sod's law. Wish I could say it was the start of a whole new sleeping pattern but it isn't - he did the same on Saturday but after that he's woken up at least twice a night.

Thanks for all the advice about child benefit. Have phoned up and requested a pack (I presume I didn't get one because I had DS2 at home).

Lua, hope you get some answers about your DD very soon, it must be unsettling for you.

Another one who likes the smell of baby poo So glad I'm not the only one!

Right, I'm off to have a cuddle with DS2 as I feel like I've been neglecting him a bit recently, not spending enough time just chilling with him. Usually the poor boy is picked up and chucked in his car seat or bouncy chair whilst I deal with chores or DS1. No wonder he's so full of smiles when someone gives him attention - he's just desperate for company.

Lua · 21/09/2005 12:42

Welcome back Tea! Ballon riding sounds great!

MrsW-Good luck to you with the dummy! I like the idea of starting to taste bad when you become big!
I remember being a nervous wreck , when i "lost" the top to the sippy cup "for" DD... She took it much better than I tought, and decided to help me look for it . When she couldn't find it, she said -oh well, lets drink the milk without it!

Cooperoo · 21/09/2005 13:59

Hi all
Well dd's are both still asleep and I really should wake them up now or they will never go down tonight...but not quite yet. We had a morning of tantrums (from me and dd1) so the peace is lovely. We went out last night for a meal and to watch some rugby which was fun. Was great just to have a change of scenery and to be able to talk to DH in the car. We never seem to have the time just for a chat nowadays so that was lovely. He is off on hol at the end of the month though for 2 weeks. I can't wait. He does get loads of holiday at the moment. He has an additional 3 weeks to take by the end of February too .
If you can believe it I am trying to choose Christmas presents at the moment. Our last day for posting is half way through Nov so I need to get organised.
Lynny - Aww. I should say I am sure my dd's will not want to hang around with me in their teenage years. I think I will be far too strict lol. DD1 was a tinker yesterday afternoon. I have been keeping the girls apart when I am out of the room (really can't trust dd1 at all, either smothering dd2 with hugs and kisses or hitting her) at the mo but yesterday dd1 legged it downt he corridor and by the time I got there dd2 was crying with a big red mark on her face and dd1 was already sitting on her naughty chair . I get the feeling it is not working any more. DH is digging the playpen out for me later. I had kept it precisely for this reason and suggested it to a friend too. I then forgot all about it and she is using it with great effect. She reminded me yesterday lol.
Charley - Good to hear from you and that things are getting a bit better.
Berolina - lol at you and ds in the mb. and
Bubb - Lol at you too. Don't worry though. DD is b/f and feeds on demand so I don't even know how many feeds she has in a day so would never even realise if she missed one!
Right have to get these girls up.
Take care all. And thanks for comments on the pics. I will try and get them on Yahoooooooo

This DS rolling thing is crazy! I just found him gnawing at the table foot!
Now that is what I call being a bad mummy!

I wanted to say earlier, and forgot: tried the MUM teat feeding EBm to DS and it went 10X better than the avents we were using... Fot those trying to sneak away for a few hour from booby duty, I recommend them!

Hello
Have posted some photos on the Yahoo site. Too tired for anything else now.
Have good nights all.

JonahB · 21/09/2005 19:17

Evening All, Loads to catch up on, so sorry if I miss anything important out.

Tea ? it takes a year to go!!!! Not that I was about to jump into any stomach revealing tops, but, gosh ? I didn?t realize it stayed for that long. Ah well, at least I?m prepared . Glad you had a good holiday.

Mrs Wed ? hope the dummy monster successfully visited and didn?t upset DS1 too much. The vinegar idea is excellent. Do you think that will work for thumbs as well ?

Re pooing, I must have a seriously pooey baby compared to a lot of you. He goes about twice a day. Oh, and I agree about the smell of them. DH both (secretly, we don?t admit this to anyone else) love the smell. It smells like pitta bread fresh out of the toaster. Ok, am I being too weird now?

Lua, sorry to hear about DD?s ?failure to thrive?. How v. worrying for you and how particularly unhelpful of the HV. What does this mean? Is she just small for her age?

Bero ? lol at your patchy top. I think its inevitable with young babies!

Glad you enjoyed your Ann Summers meeting EYM! Do you get free samples to take home ? Lucky DH!!!!

Katz, I?m so sorry to hear about Pebbles. I was heartbroken when I lost both of my cats. I still get upset about it now, a year later. At least you did get a chance to say goodbye, I hope that was a comfort to you.

SFX ? lol at our DS?s/DD?s doing what we did. It gives me cold sweats as well. I was a horrendous teenager. I hope and pray that when he?s that age, I know certain signs to look out for. However, reality is that they will be doing new and even awfuller things when they hit their teens.

This will make you laugh. My DH has inadvertently tried to poison me (or so HE claims). I?m a vegetarian and we buy packs of pretend ham and other meats. Anyway, the pretend ham had some pink patches on them. I asked DH if this was mould and he swore blind several times that they come like that. So, I?ve been eating these for the past 2 days. Needless to say, I?ve also spent the past 2 days feeling ropey. I bought a new pack yesterday, opened it up, and lo and behold, no pink bits!!!! Hmm, I think he?s after my life insurance??
