one new thread just for you lynny!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bubbaloo · 19/09/2005 12:22

Lynny-I haven't been to any baby groups yet, either.I finally plucked up the courage to phone the organiser of a group near me this morning, and was told there is a waiting list of about a year. That'll teach me for not sorting things out sooner!

EYM-hope Ann Summers goes well for you tinight.

Mrs W-I think you have to apply for child benefit.I filled out the form that was in one of the hospital bounty packs. You have to also send them a birth certificate too.We heard back really quickly-was only a couple of weeks.

Have spent most of the morning sorting out all ds's clothes which no longer fit him.I already have a suitcase full, ready to go in the loft.
Bought some really lovely little slippers and baseball boots when I was pregnant, but ds can't wear any of them, due to the problems he has with his feet.We pick up his boots from the hospital next Tuesday,so at least thats another step forward.

Cooperoo · 19/09/2005 12:36

Hi all
Mrs W, you need to apply for the child benefit but do it quick as they will only back date for 3 months I think. Form is really straight forward although as Bubb says you do need to send off the birth cert and have ds1's CHB number. DD1 yelling she has done a poo so have to run.

mandymac · 19/09/2005 13:10

Hello Junies - Another new week I wonder what surprises our dd's and ds's will bring us now! I can't get over how quickly time is going and how much dd changes all the time!

Had a really good weekend, friends with a 9 month old ds came round for dinner on Saturday at 5pm - dd was really well behaved, sat in her buggy up at the table like a big girl and let mum & dad eat their dinners! Our friends left at 8pm and it felt like about 10 at night - I think we have discovered the secret of time travel, get up at 7am and do everything 3 hours earlier than normal and you will have extra hours at the end of the day oh yes but you will be too knackered to actually do anything but veg on the sofa . Also popped out for a bite to eat yesterday afternoon with dd and she was very well behaved again! However, she is still really struggling with naps, averaging about 3 hours per day - but looking like she needs nearer 4.

Welshie, Coop & SFX - Sounds like we all have lovely DH's, but agree it is sometimes really frustrating being the one at home all day and then up at night. DH felt ill over the weekend, and even though it was completely unreasonable, I found myself distinctly lacking in patience and then felt bad for being rather less than sympathetic . I felt like saying "you can't be ill - its my turn to have a bit of a break!" .

EYM - Your older boys sound lovely - you must be really proud of them! Good luck with your first Ann Summers Party

Lippy - A women after my own heart where lack of self control is concerned. I had scoffed 3 cherry sponges (individual ones of course) in half an hour yesterday. DH actually told me off for spoiling my dinner .

Charley - You asked about vibrating chairs - yup they have a vibrating unit which attaches to them (2 speeds too!). DD has a pink one which looks very comfy - in fact I want one although not sure the vibrations would sooth me if you know what I mean! .

Lynny - Sympathies on the weird FIL. Families eh! Jess looks like such a cutie!

Bubb - What a shame you had to cut your hols short! Don't think we are going to attempt holiday until next year sometime.

Katz - Glad Italy went well, still in awe that you are back working, with 2 lo's and that you went to a conference - abroad with them. Are you wearing a cape and a big S on your chest?!

Trib - Sorry you are having such a tough time. Hope it sorts itself out very soon! Glad you found a house in leeds though and good luck with the move. My DH could snore for England too, he sleeps in with me and dd at weekend, and I am always amazed that he doesn't wake her up. Mind you apparently when pg I snored like a walrus with a head cold, so can't really complain .

Jonah - I still have the tummy line, its faded a bit and looks like a tide mark. I do wash honest, but its just not going. On the plus side no stretchmarks. Don't know whether to thank genes or hideously expensive Clarins oil that I used?! . On going out without nappies - isn't it like going out without an umbrella, or washing the car - just tempting fate .

Off to baby massage later - we're doing tummies today, so hope dd puts up with it.

Hugs to all!

welshmum · 19/09/2005 13:11

EYM - hope the Anne Summers goes well - I bought the butterfly thong (tmi?) at one while I was pg - hoping to pluck up the courage to wear it eventually.....What warm up games are you planning on using?
MrsW hope your ds1 has a lovely birthday - what are you getting for him?
JonahB - and anyone else - how often does your baby poo? Ds is goinng about once a week, which I'm told is perfectly normal for bf babies as the milk is so good for them it's almost all used by the body. It's still a bit unnerving though (and doesn't stop the most outrageous farting

Lua · 19/09/2005 13:32

Hi All!
Lots of posts! So apologies in advance if I forget someone!

Coop - Good for you that you sold your wraps fast! I still haven't made up my mind about what to do.

Trib - Big hugs! You are having a really hard time! How about that trip to your mum's, to get some help?

Pink and KVG - good to see you back! Hipe babies are doing well.
KVG - we are meeting on the 27th on Sheffield (I think) if you still want to come along.

Mandy and everybody else.. you guys are such good wives. I don't usually just think about complaining about my DH being sick. I usually actually DO complain - very mean wife I am. But you know, the way I see it, he is responsible for 50% of the work. Once he does that or more I'll stop complaining...

Just spent the last hour waiting for HV that is suppose to check on me because DD was diagnosed with failure to thrive. Is such a joke isn't. I have to insist and insist on getting referredto a paed, than when the paed say - yes, indeed she is too small. Than, HV needs to check on me! Now, she just rang and said: -well, you actually came in last friday on your own to get her checked, so I guess I don't need to come by.... What is their job, afterall? check boxes or care for the children and their family
OK, I am off of my soapbox!

Lua · 19/09/2005 13:33

oh, welshie - DS poos vary a lot... He has gone for a week, a couple of times. However, usually is every other day...

bubbaloo · 19/09/2005 14:04

Welshie-ds poo's once a day,but he's not breast fed,so don't know if that helps.

LipstickMum · 19/09/2005 15:15

Hi all

72 hours and no posts from me

I had a nice time in town shopping for... me this is a rarity. Well, tbh I go out shopping for me regularly, but most of the time come back with stuff for the dd's Today I had a spree in Jigsaw, hurrah!

Question to those of you with 2. Are you managing to do groups or meet people with babies the same age as your latest?? In our house, things revolve around dd1, all the groups, play dates and social engagements are with her friends or to stimulate her. So far, dd2 has no playmates or groups of her own. I have 2 mornings a week without dd1 and those are the times I need to get something done with dd2, but find the time is so often filled with other stuff, because the rest of the week I am so busy!!! Hmmm, I am going to have to sacrifice selfish shopping time and devote yet more of my life to my children

Sorry, I haven't caught up with the thread, hope you are all well!

welshmum · 19/09/2005 16:13

Hi Lippy - well done on the Jigsaw spree - very good for keeping the pecker up as it were. At the mo ds goes where dd goes - but the group does cater for babies and 3 year olds so am hoping it'll work out....

Poos - I think I'm odd - I look forward to ds's poos.....

berolina · 19/09/2005 16:33

hello all
welshie - think I've read that bf babies can go up to 10 days without pooing! ds is a fairly frequent pooer, he goes most days.
trib - sympathies. really hope you get some help soon.
I actually think ds might have v mild reflux as he is still quite sicky and quite often, after feeding and coming off the boob, will stretch his head back and cry. Most of the time he is smiley and/or alert thouh, so think I will leave the dr's until it gets worse. The pulling back thing might also be distractability, I don't know.
coop, hope the party goes/went well.
lynny - I know what you mean about tight-knit communities - we moved from a city to a small town last year and in many ways I too like to keep myself to myself.
Lua, grrrr on your behalf. Hope you're not too worried.

berolina · 19/09/2005 16:34

welshie - I don't look forward to ds's poos as such - but I do quite like how they smell!

eastyorksmum · 19/09/2005 16:54

Poos - dd normally goes once a day, but after baby massage (tummies) we have had an extra one already. I also like the smell of dd's poos or maybe its the nappy bags?!

bubbaloo · 19/09/2005 17:48

How can any of you like the smell of poo?-I just don't get it.

berolina · 19/09/2005 17:52

eym - you go! good luck
bubb, it's not poo per se, it's baby poo! yup kvg - it'll be the daily swig of body shop shower gel that does it

sfxmum · 19/09/2005 17:54

afternoon ladies
see we have poo talk, well my dd goes everyday mostly more than once, very smely very runny. she is excl. bf. on the plus side no puking ever what goes down soes down and its quite a lot these days.

mandy- re stretchmarks think its the clarins stuff been devoted to brand for ages sister and i always used it not one stretch mark between us.
i do however sport a very fetching burn mark acquired on the hot oven door while pregnat, not pretty and very painfull. midwife was stunned almost mentioned domestic violence. combination of strange new belly and no glasses will do that to you.

back to my very wriggly baby having a bit of a cry - bless

berolina · 19/09/2005 17:57

ouch sfxmum, dh burned himself (on his leg) on the oven door last week and has an inch square mark which looks really painful. of no baby puke! taught a course last week with a patch of it on my top

eastyorksmum · 19/09/2005 22:35

mandymac · 20/09/2005 08:50

Morning Junies

DD has been snuffling and grunting since 5am and decided to get us up at 6.30am, so feels like lunchtime to me already.

Glad you enjoyed your Ann Summers meeting EYM!

SFX - I have 2 friends who are pg who are also using the Clarins oil on my recommendation, so I will see how they get on with it, its lovely to use too, smells so nice! Did use 3 bottles though, so nearly £100 in total, but worth it really.

Hope the weather clear up here, I want to go to the park later - there is a phrase I would never have uttered pre dd .

morning all
lynny- so nice to have quality time with L, it's so sweet.
re confidence, when you have achieved as much as you have, well honey its there. am not always very good at small talk tends to get sabotaged by my pesky habit of saying what i really think.

eym- well a basque the only AS party i ever attended was more like a riot, very brave of you.

not much sleep last night dd woke up more or less every 2.1/2hrs for feed, which fine since she got back to sleep no fuss but not from 5.30 oh no! well i was too tired so dh sterilised pump i expressed milk and he took care of her until 8.15 when he left, late, for work.

on the plus side on when i get her to bed she does not need breast or being held to get herself to sleep, then we have finger sucking action

heres hoping she has a couple of decent naps today, so i can nod off.

working on those baby pictures will put them up soon

good day all
ps- had a look at a few more boards yesterday, some scary stuff going on

Lynny thats lovely that Leona, liked the electrical store and could tell you what to do with the frige, hoover, cooker, that shows her cognitive ability is good and of course if it tired her out all the better. I love the idea of calling her sister baby jess sooo cute.

As for chatting Lynny ive deffantely got the gift of the gap lol i was nervous but i just talked through it. My eldest boy craig is soooooo like me never stops talking, which i love i must say, hes such fun to go out with too, when my hubby to be was way in france 2 years ago i went out with craig most weekends lol clubbing as well.
