ok ive signed up for yahoo but how do i see the pics? anyone

bubbaloo · 22/09/2005 09:17

Morning All,

What lovely photo's on the yahoo site-they're all gorgeous! Charley-Your hair is so long.Mine used to be really long, but it got in the way of everything so I gradually went shorter and shorter untill I hardly had any.

Mrs W-Sorry to hear the dummy monster wasn't a success last night.Your ds must like the taste of vinegar.

I had a friend and her 6 week old baby over for lunch yesterday.Everyone tells me how big ds is BUT we put the babies together for photo's etc... and her ds is the same size as mine.We couldn't believe it.Oscar is longer but other than that, there's no difference, infact her ds's hands are even bigger.

Have another friend coming for lunch today so won't be on here much.Probably going to see my mum tonight-she's gone into hospital this morning for a biopsy,so fingers crossed she'll be alright.

Hope you all have a good day.xx

Morning Junies

Just put DD down for her 2nd nap of the morning and she is protesting (oh I hate it when she does that, I know she needs a nap, but then I feel guilty at putting her down!).

We are in a sort of routine now, although nap times and feed times are a moveable feast (literally in the case of feeds ).

Been trying to catch up on the past few days, as always I've been lurking, but not found the time to post till now.

Coop - I've really enjoyed my 30's its when everything felt like it came together in life, marriage, house and now baby, although you have already got all those bits sussed. Also like you found my confidence growing with age. I'm now looking forward to being one of those batty old ladies with blue hair who doesn't give a stuff what anyone thinks and drinks lots of gin . Is the playpen (or baby jail as I like to think of them to keep DD1 in to stop her getting to DD2, or to keep DD2 safe from DD1, if you know what I mean? . Hope it helps!

Lynny - I really do admire how you cope, didn't know about your family situation, you are an amazingly strong person from the sound of things, and Leona and Jess are really lucky to have you for a mum! I hope you do make it to some mother & baby groups, I haven't made it yet, but keep intending to. Let us know how it goes if you do.

Lua - at DS rolling around already, can he get himself from front to back too? Sounds quite advanced and strong - and thriving! to me.

Katz - Good luck with the permanent job thingy. What is 'post docing'? Post doctorate? are you an academic - if so what area.

SFX - Got great mental image of DH cooking with baby in sling - how very 'new man'! Glad he is helping out like that. My DH generally cooks while i'm giving dd her feed before bed , but he cooked alot before dd too, more than me to be honest. He's great!

Charley - hope that the feeding is still going better. I'm still persevering trying to get DD to take some EBM, with no joy (its been a month of trying her every few days with a bottle, but she just plays with the teat and no sucking ). On sleeping, I'm waiting until DD drops the middle of the night feed too, before moving her into the nursery. DH has started to sleep in with us, but he pops into the spare room after that feed, so he doesn't wake us in the morning. He can't believe how noisy DD is in the night though! She really snuffles and shouts when she comes into a light sleep, I have to almost pin him down to stop him getting up to her and waking her! I just shove in my earplugs and roll over - evil heartless mummie!

Welshie - How is poo watch going? Any 'movement'? That theory about babies being born 3 months early is expanded on in 'Baby Bliss' book by Harvey Karp (American Paediatrician). Its to do with evolution and our brains getting bigger and hips smaller due to walking upright, so babies had to come out sooner, before they were fully 'cooked'. Makes sense when you think about it!

Bubb - Are you going to try and drop the 11pm feed? Sounds like DS might be able to go through until middle of the night feed now? Its all trial and error really though isn't it? I'm too scared to stop the 11pm feed incase I then get woken twice in the middle of the night instead of once.

EYM - I can see that your Ann Summers exploits are going to keep us amused - nuns eh - . ROFL at 'fishing' in the bath - like trying to hook a goldfish at the fair. .

Tea - Glad you had a good holiday. You are very brave going on balloon ride, I'm scared of heights, so not sure if I could do it - was it scarey???

Bero - at the idea of the very polite and nice german burglars moving the baby. We had buglers once who moved the clothes horse, rather than just throw it across the room - they leant it carefully against a wall. Made a mess of everything else though - weird!

Mrs W - Good luck with the kids party and a very happy birthday to DS1.

Jonah - We don't have pitta poos here - cinnamon toast in our house .

Do I need a password or anything to join the yahoo group thingy? I want to see the pictures.

Good afternoons to allxxx

mandymac · 22/09/2005 11:03

Bubb - x posted (took me ages to type out my catch up messsage!). Fingers crossed here for your mum too!

eastyorksmum · 22/09/2005 11:16

Cooperoo · 22/09/2005 11:48

What gorgeous photos!!!
Charley - Your hair is amazing. I am very .
Bubb - Love the pink hair too.
And the babies are fantastic. Can you beleive how they are growing?!!
For EYM and Mandy once you have joined the group, sign in on the page and then there should be a bit on the left 'Photos' then there are some of our 'first babies' and then a folder titled Junies with our new babies in. HTH.
Well I am knackered again so sorry haven't done a proper catch up.
Mandy - love your long post. Things are obviously settling down for you .
Lynny - Wasn't considering your past when I posted about toddler groups. Can completely see where you are coming from. By the way though you are a true survivor and that is another thing to carry with you. What you have got through means that you can cope in ANY situation. Remind yourself of that . You sound a lot happier at the mo and I am so glad.
Trib - How are things??
Our phone bill has just come in at £70 for last month . Most of that is internet too . I said we should cut down and DH said no, we aren't extravagent and don't go out drinking all night etc so we should enjoy it as our form of entertainment. I wasn't arguing. Our one TV channel is OK but not great, esp now the football season has started and I have gone off the soaps at the moment.
Anyway, dd1 is off to a party this afternoon and I have to wrap the presents so I had better go.
Oh yes, the playpen is to put dd2 in to protect her from dd1. I did use a playpen for dd1 when she was small and highly recommend it for when they are mobile. I would never have got a shower otherwise. I can't understand why they are so contentious as doesn't a cot have bars too?? It meant she was safe and she had a load of toys in there, and she never complained about being in there. We used a travel cot to start with and then got this fab big wooden one from the RAF. Cleaner came today (I love her) and so DH is getting it out this afternoon.
Anyway, take care all.

Lua · 22/09/2005 12:03

Morning all!
What a cr*p night!!! Is like we were back to day 1.
ok, I'll just keep repeating it's a phase, it's a phase, it's a phase.......

EYM - So how did the nun outfit looked like?

Coop - I am glad you DH is supportive of your MN addiction . I think is a life saver! A couple of days DH and I screwed up and he went to work with DS stroller and carrier (in the back ofthe car), and I would have gone mad if not for MN....

Hummm.. I am in a dilema about cot and nurseries myself. DS has definetely outgrown the bedside crib, especially now that he is so good at rolling. But the cot won't fit in my room, and I shudder at the though of having to get out of bed to go the nursery (especially if it is anything like this night!). Those of you that did put babas in the nursery, are they sleeping better?

Mandy - Sorry for the confusion. DS is a little tank and huge (16.5 lbs!) that's why he is managing to roll. He is also among the firsts of the junnie crop... DD on the other hand is a dainty, tiny little thing. She has been alway on the small side but she fell off the 25% curve a year ago, then she followed the 9% curve for a while, but now she is falling off it too. As I said, being small is not so much of the problem. Is more the fact that she hasn't put a Kg this whole year! and she eats really well. I am hoping she has some kind of parasites, or just a fantastic metabolism!

LipstickMum · 22/09/2005 13:03

Hi all

I feel like I've been away, but I haven't, just not managing to post, too busy but that's good

Tea, I am jealous of your ballon ride dd1 loves hot air 'loons' ( not lunatics ) and we see one often around here, a lot of the time we can see the fire too. She just loves it and we've thought about taking her for a ride on one, but I worry that the loise and fire will freak her out and spoil the romance of the hot air loon... maybe when she's 3.

You all look lovely on the photo site. It's lovely to see what you all look like. Copp, nice to match a face to the knees

I have put dd2 in a grobag now she is 12 weeks, thinking it might help with the nights (theory being she gets cold) but it didn't last night. it's all since she has had this blocked nose for the last week. Hopefully it will go soon and we'll be back to 4 hourly feeds.

LipstickMum · 22/09/2005 13:04

loise = noise

Copp = Coop

No blackout curtains here purely because I wanted dd to be able to sleep anywhere. She does sleep better in the dark though.
Hope you find someone to help. dd1 just picked up and dropped dd2 . Both dh and I were in the room. Can't beleive it. Happened very fast. For once she didn't mean to hurt her at least. She was trying for a cuddle. Bit lost about what to do really. Will post for advice later. DD2 is now in the travel cot we are using instead of the playpen as it is a bit smaller for now, but dd1 is now dropping things on her and shaking the cot . Wish us luck.

welshmum · 22/09/2005 15:55

Coop - is dd2 ok? are you ok? What's the age gap between them?

Mandymac - no poo but copious smelly farts...typical bloke!

KVG - it was me with the sleep consultant - she doesn't recommend black out though. She's called Andrea Grace, mobile is 0771 7324377 - sure she'll help or put you in touch with someone who can. It's still going very well for us - one or two feeds from 7pm until 0630 and sometimes later - not bad for a bf baby and he's settling beautifully during the day - did I mention that he's the cutest baby in the whole world Good luck and sorry for being insufferable but had a good night.

Lua - ours sleeps 100% better in his own room - but it is right next door to ours.

I need to remember how to get on the yahoo site and put ds up there too.....

Went to see Cinderella Man at Baby Odeon - was sentimental but perfectly diverting as was the giant bag of chocolate raisins xxx

Cooperoo · 22/09/2005 16:08

Welshie - DD2 is fine really as she was 'dropped' on to her padded playmat on carpet and has no mark or anything. It was only from a few cm so not as bad as when they are learning to sit and throw themselves back at least . We will be keeping a close eye on her though. DD1 is 2yrs and 4 mths older. She has been to a party this afternoon so is all hyper and very tired as well. I am fine too now. Was very upset and very glad that dh was here to deal with dd1 while I looked after dd2. It just makes me that I am not protecting her enough. She has a weepy eye today too and so I think she is getting an eye infection so we will prob be off to docs tomorrow anyway. DD1 wasn't ill for a year and poor dd2 is just being exposed to so much. That plus all the shouting/angry voices as we discipline dd1 is horrid too. dd1 didn't have to put up with that. It can't be helped but I do feel sorry for her.

welshmum · 22/09/2005 16:15

I know what you mean about them being exposed to so much more than the first one ever were. chin up though missus - the plus points of having 2 will start to come through eventually. take care

bubbaloo · 22/09/2005 16:27

Mandy-no,don't think I'll be dropping ds's last feed as he might wake up in the night! He has 5 bottles of just over 7oz's a day,the last being about 10.30 ish. After that last feed he then always sleeps through the night. If I drop his last feed,he'd only then get 4 bottles a day and he might wake me up in the night-certainly don't want that.

Coop-Only one tv channel? don't think my dh would be able to cope-he loves his tele.I never get a chance to watch anything though as I'm always on this computer.
Good luck with your dd's.Hope dd2 is ok.Must be really hard having two, especially when your dd1 is probably trying to help,in her own little way.

Lua-ds is still in our room, but we're hoping to get him into his own room at the weekend,so I'll let you know how it goes.

Kvg-We've got a blackout blind in ds's room, but as he's not using hie room yet I can't really comment on it.I'll let you know too.

Had a lovely afternoon with my friend. Her youngest girl is now at school,so it seemed so weird her coming over on her own.Have another 2 friends for dinner tomorrow and again on Saturday-I'll be shattered at this rate-lol!

Mum's had the biopsy and is back at home now.Going to see her tonight and cheer her up.Apparently she's not even allowed to make a cup of tea or sign any documents for 48 hours.

eastyorksmum · 22/09/2005 17:02

Wow coops is every one ok now hugsssss, poor you im sure things will get better. Could you include Dd2 in looking after little one you know like *can you help mamy and pass a nappy for the baby, you know get her to help you, and then praise her just some ideas just that the more positve you are with her, she will react and show you good behaviour instead of negative, im sure your doing this already hun good luck.

William has fell to sleep listening to ABBA lol he loves music he like his mam.

Bubs im so glad your mum is ok, and youve had a nice afternoon .

see you later mums hugsssss

Bubb - Really hope your mum is OK, and that you are too. Yes one channel that is supposed to be the best bits of UK TV. We get stuff from all the channels. Some of it is good (like Lost, Desperate Housewives, Nip/Tuck, Supernanny etc) and some of it is very boring (for me anyway - football, Heartbeat, The Royal, Enterprise etc.)
Thanks for the kind words and advice.
EYM - How did you do it with three under 5?
Am going to do a post now and see what the wise MN people think.
