Some great ideas there. Liking the January Comeback Special Discount, hand those vouchers out anyway to big spenders, even if you don't use the idea for competition-purposes. Love TS's foodbank idea but you'd need a volunteer to cart away the donations at regular intervals to make space. Health & Safety and all that. Okay so I have been Chr ist mas Sh op ping online. I purchased the entire 27 book collection of DD1's favorite book character. Got it for 64% off plus no tax and free shipping. I also purchased her this messenger bag. I have no idea why she wants a messenger bag but this one is kids size and quite cute so she'll have her wish filled.

DD2 is getting dinosaurs. How crazy is that! She is over the moon for them and ROARS every time she sees one. I purchased Tiny and Buddy from Din osaur Tra in. And got her a Pri ddy Book with REAL dino pics.

I also purchased some puzzles last weekend, 3 for each I think.

All this and I've not exceeded $200. I'm sure I'll find a few additional items to add before the 25th. I need to put some thought in the "santa" gifts. I purchased a child's DSNEY gui de book that I might use as the "santa" gift along with some sort of ticket(s). I haven't committed to the jeweled crown yet. I'm fighting with myself over it's practicality. Not sure if she'd really think it was cool. The money would be better spent purchasing her an isomething or mpg player.

I'm not into a lot of big toys this year. Am I the only one? DD1 has a bike and DD2 has a trike. They have the play kitchen. Their room is always trashed so how stupid of me to find more to add to it. Maybe they'd like some Cur ious Ge orge sheets. I think I know where I could get some. That's cool, right??

Off to shop some more in silence. Will report back unless I fall asleep at the keyboard.

I have stopped myself from making a purchase I might feel is foolish in the morning. Here you will find both Cu rious Ge orge sheets and Ca t n the H at sheets. The total of my order came to more than what I've spent so far so I closed the browser. I should think on this a little while longer. I keep having to remind myself these gifts are for the kids NOT ME.

Well we are covered in snow this morning! And thunder and lightning still rolling and flashing. I wasn't expecting this at all!

TS I like the bed linen there, very nice. I wouldn't mind those brown & white spots for myself! Well done on shopping. I agree re. toys. ds2 has a good-sized trike and a hand-me-down scooter and I can't really see how he needs much so I'm planning on a few books and things, very low-key. I think it will be nicer for him to pull lots of little things out of his stocking than unwrap one monster thing anyway.

TS, DD2 getting a spitting dinosaur D getting a scooter as others are utterly trashed (see all previous posts re Dd2 the thug) and utterly stuck for dd1. She wants a real laptop. It's not happening.

The bunks were going to be it but how does Santa deliver those PLUS my dad is paying. Some bedding is nice but not particularly exciting as her last gift from Santa as I imagine by next year she'll no longer believe

Personally i am avoiding any 'themed' bedding until they actually ask to have something different (hopefully never) from their pretty bedding which i chose

Off to BIL/SIL today but i have a sore throat and want to curl up infront of the fire with crap tele and not go out on the razz (which is the plan). Hopefully i shall perk up later. Not enough snow here to make travelling not possible as an excuse! Who has snow and how much BTW?

DD2 wearing PJ bottoms and no nappy atm. I have my fingers x'd as she is 100% with bare bottom, but more than happy to wear a nappy (including an extremely full of wee one)

DD1 running around here naked yelling 'It's snowing, it's snowing' yes it it but so little it's not really snowing. IYSWIM

For CHristmas - we were not doing big things but DH went on Amazon and now DD1 is getting a little indoor play house for her bedroom ( a place to hide from the now moving DD2) and all the grandparents are clubbing together to buy both girls a wooden kitchen. I had bought a few sylvaninan bits for DD1 and a pull along dog for DD2. The Sylavaninas will be seperated and wrapped for stocking bits along with new pants, socks and vests.

A light dusting of snow here but lethal as it had frozen and is like an ice rink outside.

the dds are getting quite a few little presents this year, its been a tough one for all of us so we are hoping to make this xmas a special one!

right all you bakers out there, i want to make an apple pie for pudding tom.. saw nigel slater's one on the tv and it looked great but he made it savoury with cheese .. not sure how sweet to make the apples and whether you need to add sugar to the pastry or not!! please help!!

Enya - I use plain pastry then add a couple of heaped tablespoons of sugar to the apple, if it's not sweet enough then add more ice cream or custard to the bowl when serving!

Snow here, which was a surprise as sky was clear when I went to bed, but less than an inch so hopefully everyone will still make it to DD's party this afternoon. Better start tidying up...

Ds1 loving the snow and went out at 8.30 to play in it in the garden

Post arrived for dh and it's the minutes of the meetings his work have held with 'witnesses' and its a freakin witch hunt . Much of it dodgy tbh but one or two people who allege they heard him say to the cleaner that it was ok for her to use her husband . Poor dh is in bits and I'm not much better. He's speaking to his union rep on Monday but thats the whole weekend for him to brew over it. I just don't know how to help him . It's so bloody awful what they are doing, he's a very decent chap who has made the company shed loads of savings in the last 6 years. Yet they haven't asked a single person (except for those who gave statements to say he had done this) for a character reference. I'm really angry too

Still full of cold and sore throat. Going to sit in the corner and be miserable...

DD and DS1 both managed to put their faces in the water at swimming at last today! It's only taken 11 months.

Cece, have you asked on the employment boards on here what DH needs to do to make sure he had the best case possible to respond to these allegations? I'm sure the Union will be very supportive, but getting some help from MN over the weekend might give him some focus on things to think about and write down, so he can go in more prepared on Monday? {{Hugs}} and hope he can stop the witch hunt

I'm liking all your Christmas gifts. Bibi, Crisper is right about the net book. That's what DD1 is using. It was given to me last Christmas (a month after I purchased a new laptop for myself). I didn't need it so she ran with it as hers.

As for potty training, if she can change her own diaper... is it time to start training?

Now off to rethink (with DH) the pretty sheets.
