Today is a v good day for anything, my lovely pseky noisy DD is 5 today Shock where did that time go??? She is currently clip-clopping round in some dressing-up shoes and a pink princess dress, wish me luck getting her into something a little more suitable for school..

blueberryboybait · 24/11/2010 08:17

STAAAAAAAAAAAARRR! Grin Grin Grin

Happy birthday Fjornita. Smile

CrispyTheCrisp · 24/11/2010 08:37

Morning Smile

Lovely, lovely news to wake up to star Smile. Many congratulations to you and DH. I hear August babies are all rather lovely and scrummy Wink

Happy birthday HotsGirl. And FWIW i think a pink princess dress couldn't be more suitable for your 5th birthday at school. Mean mummy Grin

DD1 who woke up with a cough and very deep voice on Monday, now seems fine. I was thinking it could turn into a nasty cold, but fingers x'd it has passed through. Gym and swimming with the girls this morning and then looking after 4 children this afternoon to help a friend out. Eeek. I may return with wine later Grin

OnceandFutureQueen · 24/11/2010 09:20

Moring ladies. Another terrible night here many many wakeups. Am so shattered! Our guess is that its teething plus hes a bit snotty.

crispy I did tell my Mum but apparently Im out of order. The problem is that all her insults are phrased as if shes just being a concerned parent. Shes done it as long as I can rememer. Always concerned (doubting) my ability to cope with pretty much aything. It really bugs me that she doesnt do this to my sister. Maybe its because my sister is following in her footsteps in terms of pareting style, while Im trying to do things differently.

star great news!! cogratulations!

HippyHippopotamus · 24/11/2010 09:42

oh my!!!! that's wonderful star Grin I'm sooo pleased for you!!!
does that mean we've all got, or are on the way to having, at least two children now? i think it does out of the regulars, no? TS, can you check your spreadsheet please Wink

happy birthday fjrhtoguaGirl, i agree, i think mummy should let you wear your princess dress to school Smile

crisp blimey! 4? good luck with that!

and today T is only responding if i use today's proper name for him 'nee-nor man T'. apparently fireman have to climb onto window sills alot Hmm But its ok, he's got his fireman's helmet on!

i've had a pretty productive morning...dd's had a bath, clothes out of dryer sorted into piles and upstairs and kitchen cleaned. i reckon that justifies getting my sewing machine out today Smile

i'm still feeling rough, just can't get rid of this cough/runny nose. oh crisp, sorry, just realised L's probably caught it from me when we were playing princesses

as for dh, who knows. neither of us have got the energy to argue. he was asking me last night what i wanted to hear, i'd tell him and then he'd repeat it back to me. not helpful and certainly doesn't count as an apology imo.

Silkstalkings · 24/11/2010 09:42

Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!!!! Woohoo!!!

Queenie I've had times when my mum was a bit like that and I guess she still does but in hindsight I probably only notice when I'm stressed about the thing she is commenting on. In other words, now I don't even notice it LOL. The times she made me cry were the run up to my wedding/ pregnancies/baby stuff/couple of times re DS1's behaviour. If you're in a vulnerable, sensitive place it's very easy to extrapolate the worst possible interpretation. Eg unhelpful comment = you are a cretin and shouldn't be in charge of your own kids. Happens with DH occasionally but we are good at hammering out misunderstandings together these days, is different with mums because it's not a partnership.
Star's idea about the Toxic Parents book is a good one actually, if only to make you feel better about your own family!Grin Have a look on Ebay.

Silkstalkings · 24/11/2010 09:48

BTW the Nicki Grahame concert was hysterical. Audience of about 12 (all on guestlist), DH's band did a flippin great show, danced my socks off (with one other middle aged lady LOL.) Nicki's act was quite sweet but v much an open mic thing, had I paid for my £8 ticketShock I might well have complained later. She did about 6 songs and when she announced her last song to some halfhearted indignation, she said she was tiredAngry. My cool neighbour shouted "That'll be all the effort you put in!"Grin When she finished I shouted "I'm tired too!" LOL.

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 24/11/2010 09:59

lol Silk!

Fjorgyn give that gorgeous girl a birthday hug and kiss from me and J :)

Thanks everyone for your congratulations, although I have slightly taken the sheen off things by scraping someone else's car while trying to fill up at the garage Blush So gutted, it was completely my fault as had allowed myself to get flustered and was also desperate for a wee. We have exchanged details.

DH was very kind and reassuring while I sobbed down the phone at him Blush For heaven's sake, it's only a bit of paint!

Did another test and have the faintest line ever - perhaps they're less sensitive than the super Superdrug ones. I can't tell because Tesco don't print that information on the insert Hmm

HippyHippopotamus · 24/11/2010 10:02

atar a line is a line..stop testing!!

silks nicki sounds interesting! how come there weren't more there? was dh pleased with their performance?

HippyHippopotamus · 24/11/2010 10:04

sorry, obviously meant star! and i agree with your dh, its just paint, worry not!

FjorgynAndHotWater · 24/11/2010 10:54

star just think, all that Christmas mucky beer you won't be drinking will save you loads of money to pay for any paint job Wink

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 24/11/2010 11:05

Yes, thanks mate Hmm Grin

I have already resigned myself to being DH's taxi service...although hang on a minute, perhaps he won't be so keen now Grin

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 24/11/2010 11:06

You will have to drink my share for me Wink

salta · 24/11/2010 13:40

ooooh, how nice, congratulations

enyahadenough · 24/11/2010 13:51

STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOO...so so pleased for you!!! don't worry about the car tis only paint Smile..

still knee deep in cleaning, painting and god knows what dd2 is having a ball being incredibly untidy whilst i tidy Hmm..

hip i still feel rough as house so i'm guessing with both have the same will it ever go away lurgy HmmGrin

HippyHippopotamus · 24/11/2010 19:35

good evening
bloody quiet on here today Smile

blueberryboybait · 24/11/2010 20:10

Evening :)

My car went for a tyre check today and ended up with 2 news tyre and new brakes Shock I just closed my eyes and handed over the card to pay. So please I have most of my christmas stuff already or it would be pretty grim! On the plus side I have had to walk everywhere with the girls which was great exercise.

OP posts:
HippyHippopotamus · 24/11/2010 20:18

oh good evening bbbbbbbb don't let TS see your method of dealing with finances Grin

PertyPru · 24/11/2010 21:01

Star! Yay! GrinGrinGrin So pleased. Which of us will pop first do you think? Grin

Fjorgyn hope you have all had a thoroughly splendid birthday day Smile

CrispyTheCrisp · 24/11/2010 21:28

I survived, yay! I shall NOT be having 4 children though Grin

hipps I hope DH is being more reasonable - is there any external reason for him taking this out on you - job, family etc, because he seems to be totally left field with some of his comments? I really hope he snaps out of it soon as it must be so wearing Sad {{hugs}}

star you are right, it is just paint. Insurance will sort it. Honestly, these things happen, especially when you are pregnant and have a need for the loo

enya hope the house is now sparkling and you have some time to rest and recuperate

DD1 slept for 1.5hrs today Shock. She put herself to bed whilst i was out at the post office (DH didn't even notice Hmm). I also dropped into the charity shop to drop some stuff off and got 8 melamine childrens cups for £10 (they still had their £3 each stickers from House of Fraser on them), a christmas jigsaw, a box set of milly molly mandy and a percy the park keeper book. Fab Smile

salta · 24/11/2010 22:05

oh, some good news from here is that I think that we are going to make it with the potty training.

DS quite reliably now says "potty" and then we put him on the loo or potty.

Next step is to be more adventurous in going out - so far our trips have been less than an hour or have involved a cafe or grandparents. Tomorrow we will see how we cope with a trip to the park.

So, wise women,

How long can I expect him to hold on for?
How long did you carry a potty around with you? (not very keen on this one as I was having a miserly moment when we bought it and it was the cheapest in the shop, is massive, pale purple and in the style of a polar bears head).

Am feeling quite relieved today.

Love to everyone,
