Hugs today bibi to u dh and girls xx

UrsulaUndressUp · 23/10/2010 09:39

Morning everyone.

Had my dindins last night and while company was excellent food was a bit crap, did duck breasts with sherry vinegar / maple syrup dressing, duck cost a bloody fortune and was tough, my dauphinoise spuds were grey and undercooked, the spinach was reduced to an apostrophe-sized smear on each plate. I took the day off and thought with loads of time I'd do something I'd never done before, was a dumb idea and I should have done the tart someone suggested! Wines were YUM but Limoncello was vile and tasted like loo cleaner. However my friends were wonderfully polite :) and we had a nice time, at least I hope they did, I did Grin. I made creme brulee too and it was nice but again minuscule, about a millimetre deep at the bottom of each ramekin Hmm. I'm sure you are all fascinated by my menu Hmm. I have a headache today.

ds1 was SUPERB last night, poured all the drinks, introduced people, gave helpful info on books (I had put out a table of books I have cleared out so people could take home with them whatever they wanted), had supper at the table with us, and was generally excellent. ds2 kept blowing out the candles and shouting HAPPY BIRTHDAY for no reason, tipped water all over the tablecloth, etc etc till he was put to bed, but then slept like an angel.

DP has been training for a year for marathon on Monday and is now injured so may have to pull out so as you can imagine it's pretty crushing.

Have I sent you all back to sleep yet?

Silky Shock Shock at car works, pretty hefty.

Star and Fjjbyygyyt hope you have a lovely time together :)

Enya, glad you are sorted for flights, etc, it won't be fun but will be wonderful for your dad to have you there.

Bibi, thinking of you and your WHOLE family today my ducky. xxx

UrsulaUndressUp · 23/10/2010 09:41

And by the way, LO very L at the worst bit of power cut meaning cleaners couldn't hoover. Grin

FjorgynAndHotWater · 23/10/2010 10:25

Morning Smile

DC both been awake since 5 Shock, DD needed the loo and woke DS on her way back to bed. He then refused to entertain the idea of going back to sleep . I gave up and left them to play in their room (which now looks like a tornado has been through it) and DH brought them down at 7 letting me go back to sleep until 9am, hurrah. So am not too broken and hopefully won't fall asleep on the sofa at 9pm tonight...

Ooh star's just texted, she's setting off now Grin

Ursula bad luck re the food, I'm sure it was much nicer than you could see through hostess eyes, and v Hotmama-y to have dainty portions Wink Anyway you are so fab no one could fail to have a good time in your company Smile. Shame re DP, which marathon was/is he hoping to run in the fool ?

Crispy sounds like a good day ahead. Phew re DH too Grin I still have on tape a programme about making subs and keep meaning to watch in case R is on it!

enya hope the play date lifts your mood. I prescribe lots of coffee and cake for the hangover too Smile

bibi darling thinking of you today xxx

CrispyTheCorpse · 23/10/2010 10:38

Blush ursula. I truly detest hoovering through . And i am truly sorry for your dinner party ishooo's. However i am mightily impressed at your menu choice and actually giving it a go. I am doing beef bourginonne (sp) tonight with jacket spuds - bung it all in the oven and leave it. Followed by cheese - bung on a plate, artfully arrange grapes and serve

Fjorn was a bit of an oops. Kind of driver error of going the wrong way down a motorway exit Grin

Safe trip star

UrsulaUndressUp · 23/10/2010 11:33

Yes that's exactly what I wish I'd done, an oveny boeuf of some sort. Essential not to have to bother about the food so you can get on with chatting.

The driver error was reported in our Oirish papers this morning as well, plus photo. Shock

Thank Christ I was not up at 5 like you Fjo Shock you will have such a nice time tonight, lucky ducks, will you and Star be sure to do a joint post for us?

BibiBelle · 23/10/2010 12:14

I can't thank you enough for all your kindness. I'm not in a great place today but the DH and the girls are being great. I just wanted you all to know how much it meant to me, thank you.

ShineyHappyHair · 23/10/2010 12:28

Hi all
have missed hanging out here for a few days but am back now Smile. Been playing hockey this morning and we abandoned the game near the end as one of the opposition took a very hard ball from a very short distance on to her knee. OUch. She collapsed on the floor and we ended calling her an ambulance as she was in agony and couldn't move. The perils of being a defender when the opposition (us) is taking a short corner!
anyway, apart from that excitement nothing new really. 6am start

BB it's our absolute pleasure, we're always here for youSmile

FjorgynAndHotWater · 23/10/2010 18:56

Having a lovely meetup so far Smile, star just putting her DS to bed while mine watch the end of Toy Story 2 again. Once they're all asleep we'll be cracking the wine open and talking about you all, so if your ears start burning you know why Wink

ScreamingTerror · 23/10/2010 19:18
Smile
FjorgynAndHotWater · 23/10/2010 19:39

Star here :) Just had to say that we're having a lovely meet-up; Fjorgyn and her family are awesome and the children have played all day together like long time palsGrin DS is now sparko after running several thousand laps of the kitchen and hallway while chasing Thor and Thorette (or was it being chased?) I have wine in my hand. Life is good :)

Oh, and I managed the drive up the motorway fine despite rancid weather! I even enjoyed it Shock Not sure I'll feel the same tomorrow though Grin

Bibi lots of love to you and all your family xxxxx

UrsulaUndressUp · 23/10/2010 20:52

Hello Fjo and Star, how nice to have a double act! Sounds like a lovely meeting of lushes minds there, I silently raise an invisible glass to you both. Great that the children got on well, it's always so satisfying isn't it?

Wrecked, meself, now.

Oh and Fjo it's the Dublin marathon on Monday. Or would have been...

UrsulaUndressUp · 23/10/2010 20:54

Oh that was 1.5 hours ago that Star posted in Fjo's clothes - you are probably both on the Limoncello by now and tearing the rest of us to shred.

In my defence, m'lud, it was all Crispy's/Silky's/Bloobs/someone else's fault (delete as appropriate).

FjorgynAndHotWater · 24/10/2010 00:46

Heading bedwards now, and if any of you were wondering whether to have star over to stay you really must because she is super-great Smile

DS refused to go to bed at the normal time so instead came back downstairs and joined in our partying until 10pm Shock do you think that means I will get a lie in in the morning????? No, prob not so better leg it to bed. Night lovely friends Smile

CrispyTheCorpse · 24/10/2010 07:29

Morning. A tad bleary this morning, but a lovely night was had by all

After a little bit of DC bed hopping DD1 ended up sleeping on the top bunk in DD2's room, so at least we know they can do it. Well until 6.30am anyway Hmm

bibi hope you are ok and managed to get through yesterday Sad

Star and fjorn sounds like you had(are having) a lovely time. And so you should as you are both lovely, lovely people Smile

Silkstalkings · 24/10/2010 08:47

" Star's great, I like Star"
Name that fillum!Grin

Always kind and thoughtful, Kurt has used his admirable timing to have a 24hr bug before we do the 3-4hr drive to Devon. Was pale yesterday and had 2 naps which made Hmm and then at teatime I put him in his highchair with a bowl of soup in front of him, he took one look and puked in it! It was too funny to get stressedGrin. Had a nice bath and he fell asleep in my bed (surrounded by vomit-repellent fleece blankets) watching the XFactor. Woke up this morning to him babbling away Bweddass? Numnumnum bwedass. in his hopeful, ingratiating way.

Silkstalkings · 24/10/2010 08:49

Anyway, plan is to get up Monday am at the cracko'dawn to get past Salisbury before rush hour and be in the Tavistock area for lunch. Allowing one toilet/runaround stop somwehere around Somerset.

HippyHippopotamus · 24/10/2010 12:28

i'm having a proper grown-up sunday Smile

pleased the meetups going well. do we think they're both sleeping off excessives of last night still?

Bloodberrybatbait · 24/10/2010 12:47

Afternoon all

Waiting for lunch guests - I have spent all morning cooking whilst DH slept. Now DD2 sleeping DD12 watching Peppa Pig until lunch is served late.

ScreamingTerror · 24/10/2010 13:42

hello. sounds like a normal group weekend. a child sick, a group at a meet-up, somebody got a lie-in, folks entertaining with grand food/drink, family sorrows, and well.... we are a wonderful bunch. Smile

ladies i'm on a health kick and want to share my latest idea. my thought is "scrubbing floors" prolongs life and increases energy levels to that of our youth.HmmGrinWink do you think if i wrote a book on the subject i'd make the new york best sellers list? Hmm

can we plan a meet up in the Caribbean in the future so i can #1 properly meet everyone and #2 have a goal in place for this travel nonsense fear? which island shall we party on OR shall we rent a yacht and cruise around to several????

BibiBelle · 24/10/2010 15:15

I'm in for the Carribean, as long as it's not Antigua!

Hello all, I haven't had a minute between the shop opening/funeral/visitors and the kids being on holidays. I just wanted to say again how touched DH and I were by your lovely parcel, you really are a darling lot and it meant the world to us that G was remembered by someone other than us Smile

I know I'm not here often at the moment but I am managing to keep up if not post and still loving you all from afar

ScreamingTerror · 24/10/2010 16:09

Okay, Peter Island is where my island savvy friends go. What do ya'll think?

FjorgynAndHotWater · 24/10/2010 19:15

I'm in TS, as long as someone else is paying Grin

We have had such a lovely weekend, our guests were fantastic and the house seems very quiet without them. We rounded off their visit with a trip to the sculpture park in the autumn sunshine, cut a bit short as all DC a bit pesky tired after all the excitement of chasing each other around the house for hours this morning, J in his jamas, DD in her Snow White dress and Thor in a nurse's uniform. Was like watching the Benny Hill show Grin

I am a bit broken now though due to DD (and therefore me too) being awake since 5.30am Shock, am hoping her hour long nap this afternoon won't scupper bed time...

BibiBelle · 24/10/2010 19:37

Grin loving the benny hill troupe!!

decision has been made and am no longer involved with the cafe project. I've taken on board what everyone has said, thank you and I'm now going to put all my energy into the latest project and my own stuff instead [Meep] with capital M!

girls still up but hope to be back later Smile

HippyHippopotamus · 24/10/2010 19:55

oh bibi, that's brill! i hope you told them where to stick it with bells on!

glad meetup went well, even if i am very jealous Grin

and on that note... who fancies a trip to london? dh is going away for a weekend so would seem rude not to have a girlie night.... hang on.. a date would be useful... erm think its nov 12th/13th

fjorn hope you got some photos of your benny hill crew! actually, sounds like a video would be better!

ST i fancy trying a new island so any of them other than st maarten, bahamas or st lucia [show off emoticon] Grin
