Evening :)

HOtsy - I like the look of tummyache, DD might get it for her chritmas - we are trying to increase her concentration on things she doesn't like/want to do with games.

Bibi - {{HIGS}}

Crispy - hope today was better :)

Ursula - vol au vonts sound .... interesting ;) we have roast chicken thighs, jacket spuds and veg.

Hippo - you on for tomorrow? Hope DS(and DH) sleep well after their escapades this evening.

UrsulaUndress · 13/10/2010 20:09

Yes, interesting is about the size of it, it's like a mini fish pie, as I had some puff pastry and no potatoes. Oh well!

Yes I am interested in organised games maybe for Christmas, we play an ELC snap and pairs and so on but I'd like something else. Also I am going to be sick of Buckaroo by Friday! I am trying to encourage taking turns and waiting for things, iyswim. Without a proper grasp of numbers it's hard to do things like snakes & ladders even though he does like the idea of up ladders, down snakes. Anyway - if anyone else has thoughts, bring em on!

Evening Smile

After a testing morning i had a lovely afternoon with my friend. Had a good chat about my work 'problem' and have a plan. She has some REAL crap going on with her daughter and a potentially life threatening problem Sad so we had a glass of wine to help mull it all over Blush

DH out tonight, so Masterchef & The Apprentice to keep me company.

DD2 still loving jigsaws so I thank hippo for getting me to let her have a go Smile

FjorgynAndHotWater · 13/10/2010 20:53

For bigger boys and girls who can read (and mummies and daddies too), I heartily recommend Sorry! you can only get it second hand but may find it in a charity shop cheaper than on ebay. It is still my fave game of all time; me and DH often play it when we have friends over Grin

FjorgynAndHotWater · 13/10/2010 20:58

Obv that should be DH and I Blush

Could just scoff some vol au vents now

FjorgynAndHotWater · 13/10/2010 21:02

Glad you have a plan crispy, but Sad re your friend. Hope the wine has taken the edge off stuff. Am already counting down the hours days until wine o'clock hereBlush

FjorgynAndHotWater · 13/10/2010 22:18

Glad you got him to sleep OK in the end hippy Smile

Which has reminded me it's my bedtime too, and still have to take my makeup off. Now I remember why I rarely bother to put it on Blush[old hag]Grin

Thanks all for your reassurances. I told one of my friends yesterday afternoon and she told me she'd had a mc a couple of months ago Sad. It's been a while since we managed to have a proper conversation with one thing and another.

Orchard Toys have some nice ideas (I think there was a link on the fb thread). We have farmyard dominoes - there are loads more board game type ones as well. www.orchardtoys.com/games/

More Sad news as a close family friend has just been diagnosed with lung cancer. They suspected TB originally.

enyahadenough · 14/10/2010 07:27

Docs at 9.30 will report back xxx

CrispyTheCrisp · 14/10/2010 08:01

Morning Smile

DDs have been beautifully behaved this morning, ever so helpful and co-operative and polite. I am suspicious. HmmGrin

Thanks for the hugs Enya. they had been pretty much given the all clear and a second opinion has now thrown that into doubt. Lets hope the first panel of docs were right Smile

merlion sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis, and fingers x'd they can give some respite treatment.

enya fingers x'd for the docs and it is nothing sinister. Will be thinking of you.

Off to preschool shortly and then need to crack on with work as loads to do but lacking motivation.....

HippyHippopotamus · 14/10/2010 08:44

so much sad news on here at the moment Sad It really highlights how precious life is

quick question for you... If a hairy trucker is meeting up with other hairy truckers, do they bother to have a shower? Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 14/10/2010 09:19

Nah, Febreze works just fine Wink

enyahadenough · 14/10/2010 10:39

been referred to get lump looked at.. going to bupa this time as cannot be doing with the waiting!!

Merlion · 14/10/2010 11:10

Enya hope you get an appointment soon.

Enjoy the meet up ladies. Hippo can smell you from here - get in the shower!!

Friend and husband have gone away for a few days to let the news sink in a bit. Some cells had become detatched and settled at the base of her spine making it difficult for her to walk properly (not sure terminology right there as this is from my Mum) so she is having treatment for this first whilst they work out mix of drugs for chemo.

Admin · 14/10/2010 16:27

life is fragile so enjoy every second of it, whether it be yours or someone else's.

with that comes a huge bag of cheap chocolate covered cake donuts. no pushing or shoving! this bag is so big we'll all be sick of them before they're gone.

i'm grinning from ear to ear, i've had such a lovely day

mini write up of our mini meet-up

unfortunately miniFictionalChicken wasn't feeling too good so they left really early

newest MiniBlueberry is an absolute delight! she's got the biggest eyes and is really nosey inquisitive!

miniCazalet was his usual charming, chatty self and admirably helped T with his lunch (having finished his own!)

and as an added bonus both miniHippos were pretty well behaved!

oh and i remembered to pack my camera but forgot to take any photos Blush

Admin · 14/10/2010 17:03

Hmm what's up with the photoexcuses around here!!

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 14/10/2010 17:48

yes - twas a lovely day except for little M being poorly:(

hippo if your ds is anything like mine he probably told you that i took the toys off him. To explain: h wanted his train back so we swapped with the car, btu after a million times of him lobbing it across the room blueberry and i took the decision to out it away. lol. In case he tells you how mean i am (h would finish it with "i cried" even if he hadn't Grin)

HippyHippopotamus · 14/10/2010 17:58

albs your secret was safe, he's hasn't mentioned it Grin

HippyHippopotamus · 14/10/2010 17:59

is it bedtime for me yet?

HippyHippopotamus · 14/10/2010 18:00

arse, what i meant was...

is it bedtime for me yet?

alittlebitshy · 14/10/2010 18:22

I am hoping for a nice early night with my book (yes yes hippo the book I carted around all day Grin). Ds on line for early night (bath now) as he had no nap whatsoever.

Getting nervous about my trip away with dd. no the going away with dd bit, the leaving ds behind bit:(. I know dh is just as capable as I am (despite mil looking very Shock about me leaving him with ds - but she would probably refer to dh being in in the eve and me being out as dh babysitting) but my baaaaaabyyyy.
