Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

I feel for you fruit and weston. We have been in your shoes a couple of weeks ago. But finally we are all fine again and it is just so nice (and easy) to have a happy child back.
I was worried she might just get another cold before we wanted to fly home for christmas but as it seems it is rather the snow that I have to be worried of...
Well, still a couple of days for things to get back to normal

Hope everyone is doing ok and enjoying the the good side of the snow

scarlotti · 20/12/2010 23:07

Me too - apologising for being awol due to baby illness and teething that is. Yawn... few nights of roughness here but hopefully we've broken the back of it now. Very high fever a few days ago but that seems to have gone, so fingers crossed.

tigger32 · 21/12/2010 08:54

Morning ladies, sorry I've also been AWOL due to illness, Dh has had very bad flu for 3 weeks, ds2 is still poorly with a chest infection and flu like symptoms and ds3 has his. 2 nd burst ear drum in 5 weeks! Thankfully so far ds1 and I have escaped with just mild sore throats.
I'm thanking breastfeeding for my high immune system, for some reason when I bf I seem to miss all the bugs!
So those of you that are still bf how often are they feeding? Hen seems to have gone back to about 5 feeds I've 24 hours! I'm going with it while he is poorly but I'm getting ready to stop for myself.

Sorry some of you are snowed in, we seemed to have missed this lot of snow and just have heavy frosts.

I hope all the poorly one get well soon.

Fruitpastels · 21/12/2010 14:09

Tigger How awful for you all. Hope you are all on the mend and can enjoy the festive holidays. You have made me realise that bf has probably been the reason for me not getting too poorly when the DC have been ill. C has been ill the past week with cough/cold and ear infection. He is off food and I'm bf him several times a day rather than the normal 3 times. I'm going with it as the feeds don't last longer than 5 mins normally. I'm worrying about how I'll stop bf as I am more than ready to give it up. C is so affectionate and nuzzles in to my neck and has started to put his hand down my top for comfort, not easy when out in public. I wanted him to self wean but it looks unlikely it will happen anytime soon.

Ursi Hope you get home ok. Paula has so many teeth it must feel endless but she must be nearly done! C is cutting the top two now and has one little toothy in the bottom gum. He keeps wiggling his tounge around as it must feel so strange to him.

weston Hope you made it to Ireland ok and you're over your illness.

scarlott Hope your household are on the mend. Is your DH joining you for xmas?

tigger32 · 21/12/2010 16:10

Fruits Thanks for your message, it's good to know we are in the same boat!

scarlotti · 21/12/2010 20:09

tigger poor you and yours, hope you feel better all round soon.

Fruit Just Ioan to get well now so we're getting there! H coming for xmas eve to boxing day. Things aren't looking good there though - we're all supposed to be going to my Mum's for new year but I'd rather go on my own with the dc's. Don't think I'm going to get my wish though. DD would rather he didn't come too, he's made no effort with her and she's had enough. I feel the same really..

Fruitpastels · 21/12/2010 21:42

Sorry scarlotti to hear that. It sounds like you've tried everything to save your marriage. Life is too short to waste. I'm sure the future holds better things for you. Whatever you decide it's your happiness that counts. I hope you manage to get through xmas and new year. Here's to 2011 Smile

scarlotti · 21/12/2010 22:24

Thanks Fruit, that's nice to hear. I imagine the reality of xmas and new year won't be as bad as we fear (as with all these things) and then it's onwards and upwards for us all in 2011 Xmas Grin

hobnob57 · 21/12/2010 23:47

Hello all,

Been away for seemingly forever. Life has been so busy with all the family birthdays, antenatal birthdays, reports, parents evenings, disturbed evenings, snow, snow snow, and snow. And oh, the bugs! They have been non-stop since August!

As far as Isla is concerned, she is nearly walking, very happy and cheeky and giggly, but has had a hard time of late with bugs and also a month of diarrhoea (with the evening/night time wakings for some thrashing around, writhing and farting to go with it). It turns out the Abidec drops she was prescribed by the dietician contain peanut oil and she obviously has a problem with it. Sigh. We stopped BF around the time of her birthday. With the above wriggling I got very impatient and felt pretty physically abused at points and she was happily taking formula from a cup by that point. It seemed a good time. She is gradually stopping the hand down the top thing too (although it's not just me she does that with!).

DD1 is wired to the moon at the moment - constant parties since October and now Christmas. Her Christmas singalong at nursery was cancelled due to the snow - she has missed nearly 2 weeks of nursery in total now Sad. But we got lots of lovely crafts home yesterday and a calendar with a family portrait. Except I'm not included. I'm trying not to take it personally, but when the Mother's Day picture was of Granny and Daddy has had several paintings done of him and then I am excluded from the family picture for 2011 it's getting difficult not to get a bit Hmm. What have I done?!

The snow up here has been mad, but I expect by now you've all had a fair dose of the stuff. The November fortnight of it was over a foot deep. Now it is pretty much that again and we've got stupidly low temps too. The battle into work is so tiring. Thank the lord for snow tyres. And when not at work, lugging the rucksack and sledge around is hard work too!

I'd really better go to bed. Last day at work tomorrow hoorah! All fingers crossed that the white stuff stays away so we can drive to Stranraer on the 29th to catch the boat to NI. I'll go mad if we don't get there.

I've only read a few posts but sorry scarlotti that things haven't improved for you. Onward and upward. And hats of to the BFers! I'm trying out being on a normal diet now I have stopped and I'm struggling with it. Someone gave me Lindt and of course you can't just eat one... such a gurgly belly tonight Blush

BeckyBendyLegs · 22/12/2010 12:38

Boo! I haven't been here for a while :( I'm so sorry to hear about all the illnesses - it's just pants at this time of year. DS1 had a stomach bug last week that is taking no prisoners around all our friends and their children at the moment but amazingly DS2, DS3, me and DH have TOUCH BIG PLANK OF WOOD been fine and escaped.

Christmas in three days - yeah squared! I think last Christmas for us was horrible - DH was ill, DS2 was too. I had to go to the local drop in medical centre to have a huge splinter removed from my finger nail, I hardly slept over Christmas either and was a stress bunny. Ooooh this year it'll be better I hope. Here's to everyone having a lovely Christmas this year with their little one year olds who can now appreciate some of what is going on, even if they'd rather play with paper and boxes than presents :)

skorpion · 22/12/2010 22:28

Hi All, sorry haven't really got time to post much right now. We're off to ILs for Christmas tomorrow and I won't be able to log on.

Just wanted to wish everybody a very happy Christmas! Enjoy a great time with your families, avoid traffic, play in the snow, have a wonderful time xx

Ursi (and anyone else travelling) - hope the trip goes smoothly.

JuicyLips · 23/12/2010 12:04

Hi all, another sorry to hear of all the illness going round. We too are all ill, have only just got in a turkey as we are supposed to be having the il's for Christmas day and all is generally hectic here. presents are mostly sorted but have realised I have made a faux pas (sp?) on the stocking gifts and have hardly anything. Am supposed to be working at three today, which feels weird as normally work at five on Friday but doing this instead due to being closed tomorrow but am feeling really rough but dont want to call in sick as it will look really dodgy due to christmas being so soon. (hoping they will see how ill I am and will send me home!)

helips · 24/12/2010 06:46

Hi all, sorry I've been awol too, again! Hope all the poorly babies and mummies feel better soon.

Its Christmas eve, woo hoo! I am so excited about Christmas, and....I am home yipeeeeee! We had a nightmare journey back from Singapore, we flew back on Saturday but because of the snow we ended up landing in Frankfurt. We were put up in a hotel for the night but we couldn't go out because all of our winter clothes were in the UK, we missed the gorgeous Christmas market! I was beside myself as I was desperate to get home. Luckily dh found a flight the following day but it was touch and go whether we got home. I found out that one of my friends was in Frankfurt at the same time and she was there for 4 days! Nightmare! Anyway, home now and loving it!

tigger32 · 24/12/2010 09:01

Hi all, thankfully everyone in the tigger house seems to on the mend just in time for Christmas day!
I all of your families are too.
Merry Christmas to you all and I really hope we can all enjoy the day.

scarlotti · 24/12/2010 17:28

Merry Christmas to you all Xmas Grin
Touch wood, illnesses seem to have abated so I'm hopeful for a healthy one at least. Only time will tell if it's a stress free one!!

ursigurke · 24/12/2010 19:40

Merry christmas to everyone!
thanks for all the travel wishes! We'll be flying tomorrow so shouldn't be a problem

Fruitpastels · 25/12/2010 06:40

Merry Christmas to all you wonderful ladies!!

and... Happy Birthday to BBL!!

xx

JuicyLips · 25/12/2010 10:40

Happy Christmas!

JuicyLips · 27/12/2010 20:23

Did everyone have a good Christmas (and birthday for BBL)? Ours was fab. Both Christmas day and boxing day was great. Ds was good for most of it but Annabelle did get a bit grumpy as she ended having late naps both days but was fine for the most part. everyone has been utterly spoilt.

scarlotti · 27/12/2010 21:40

Hi all
Hope everyone had good Christmases?
Ours was good, although a few odd patches given the situation with DH. DB and his family came down on Christmas day which was just great, lots of alcohol, singstar, board games and lots of merriment Xmas Grin

Both boys have been ill though, although luckily both were ok enough on Christmas day. DS1 just seems to be bad at night with high temps, and is napping at lunchtime which is unheard of! Ioan is really ill though, visit to the emergency doc this morning resulted in antibiotics and steroids, so am hoping that this now sorts him out properly. He just can't seem to shift it. Fever came back raging last night with a temp of 38.7 Shock

Have had to cancel some plans with friends/family and now just hoping they'll be ok to travel to my Mum's for new year. Hopefully now we have decent medicine, that will be the turning point.

Hope all the others that were poorly got better for Christmas - take care x

JuicyLips · 31/12/2010 09:45

Scarlotti Hope the boys are much better now. Glad your christmas went ok.

For New Years Eve, we are doing nothing but having nibbles and wine having a play on the Kinect which dh got from mil for Christmas. After a busy week and not seeing dh that much it is just what I need. Hope you all have a great evening and a Happy New Year!

ChristmasInterpret · 01/01/2011 09:12

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all and all your lovely little ones! Xmas Grin

I've been awol as trekking all over the country (well, Scotland mainly) to see friends and family. Luckily not TOO held up by terrible weather or rail services.

Last night DH and I did a repeat of last year - delicious dinner and champagne before staying up for the bells then heading to bed. MUST start planning next year now so can do something a teeny bit more exciting. First year didn't mind, this year felt nice but a tad dull, next year as well will be too much!

scarlotti · 01/01/2011 10:01

Happy new year to you all Grin wishing you all health, wealth and happiness for 2011.

Still got a poorly boy here, every time he seems to be on the mend we get a relapse... hopefully the end will be in sight soon

JuicyLips · 01/01/2011 10:08

Happy new year!! Had fun last night even though Annabelle woke at five to midnight and at one it was still lovely. hope you all had a fab time!

DontWorryBaby · 01/01/2011 10:50

Happy New Year everyone! We had a quiet night at home with a little glass of bucks fizz at midnight. The neighbours had fireworks, which was nice, and I gave Ethan a kiss to say happy new year at 12. Soppy or what?!

Have my 20week scan on Wednesday! Can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is passing. I'll be sure to post an update afterwards! I don't have any firm feelings but this pregnancy has been different to the first so I think it might be a girl. Not that I mind either way but I think DH would secretly like a girl. Not long til we find out now!
