Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

Hi all,
Just checking in, I'll come back and have read in a bit.
I have been thinking about you all lately but just don't seem to have the time to come on here that often. I hope everyone is ok.
Will pop back later Smile

skorpion · 07/09/2010 19:49

Ninja no tantrums as such yet, but I can definitely see I have a willful and strong child on my hands. Watch this space...

SirBoobAlot · 07/09/2010 21:32

Full blown tantrums here. With a foot stamp, which is hilarious. I now call him Thumper Grin But seriously, they're a nightmare. He is very strong willed already. Apparently the whole street remembers my tantrums as a toddler so that doesn't hold out much hope!!

Bryn has a cold and a second tooth coming through. He hasn't slept properly since Friday, and I am so exhausted. Everyone is back at work and school here, and as much as I'm glad to have the house back to myself, could really do with someone to just give Bryn his breakfast to give me an extra half hour. Sigh.

Ninjacat · 07/09/2010 22:18

Oh yes foot stamping here!!!!
So glad its not just me. Really struggling at the moment.

SirBoobAlot · 07/09/2010 22:21

Me too Ninja :(

Anyone fancy a mums-only holiday? Lots of wine, chocolate, forbidden foods and laughter!

helips · 08/09/2010 14:07

Sounds good to me sirboob!

Ninjacat · 08/09/2010 15:24

Oh a holiday!!! Yes please.

Alfie can say Mama, Dada, Boo and No-no-no-no-no-no-no!

jemjabella · 08/09/2010 20:41

I saw first proper tantrum today. Gave DD one of those snack pack of raisins to distract her while I wrapped a parcel. She managed to get a couple out, but the rest were stuck... she grabbed the pack and threw it across the floor. Had the desired effect though Grin

Just don't mention sleep to me. Angry

Oh, and to top it off my fucking period came back yesterday. Sad

scarlotti · 08/09/2010 21:16

Ninja and SirB sorry to hear you're struggling, hope you've had better days today.

Fruitpastels · 08/09/2010 21:51

Just a quicky. I'm not liking this back to work malarky. I'm so tired. I'm sure it will get easier in time.

Does anyone's baby not have a tooth yet? C has none.

tigger32 · 08/09/2010 21:56

Tantrums here too!

And no sleep, he is a Boob monster, I am still feeding at least twice a night, am I the only one??

sirboob Holiday, YES PLEASE!! Grin But can you add sleep to the agenda too?

scarlotti Sorry to hear about you and dh, I hope that the separation will help you both see what you want, and maybe even bring you back together.

jemjabella I've been getting period pains for a couple of months and then last week had some spotting, I felt gutted, like my baby days were over. Sad I'm with you on lack of sleep too! Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

tigger32 · 08/09/2010 21:58

fruits My dn didn't get a tooth until she was 13 months, she is 3 now and has a mouth full, so don't worry its early days yet.

Fruitpastels · 08/09/2010 22:12

Tantrums here too!

Thought I was getting my period back tonight. It seems to have gone away. Not for long I'm sure.

Thanks Tigger. C has been teething for so long without any results to show for it! I'm also feeding at least twice through the night.

Tigger Are you a childminder?

DontWorryBaby · 08/09/2010 22:31

No teeth here either fruit. I don't think it's far away though. I'm struggling with being back at work as well. Need a lottery win!!

JuicyLips · 08/09/2010 23:08

no teeth here either, and definitely a more tantrumy. A lottery win would be great here too, DWB work is still driving me crazy.

helips · 09/09/2010 04:10

tigger I'm still feeding in the night too. Last night Millie woke at 11pm and I fed her back to sleep. Then she woke at 2am and after a feed was wide awake for an hour. She finally fell asleep (after more boob) and then woke at 6am for more. I am so tired today I can hardly think straight!

tigger32 · 09/09/2010 10:53

fruits no I'm not a childminder,I used to be nanny but I'm just a SAHM.

So glad to hear I'm not the only one doing feeds through the night, helips it can be so tough can't it, especially if you are working or have other children at home, there is no chance to sleep in the day.

jemjabella · 09/09/2010 14:55

tigger - forgot to mention that we're still feeding through the night, hence the lack of sleep. Varies from 2-3 times to 8+! Although a lot of that is teeth; DD has 7. Shock

longwayaway · 10/09/2010 06:09

jemjabella Mine came back last week! Literally while another mum friend of mine was telling me that hers had come back the week before. Grr.

Fruit A friend's LO didn't get his first tooth until his 1st birthday. Just how it goes, I guess.

Holiday? Yes please. I'd settle for a few hours outside the house, not being responsible for DD. DH doesn't believe me when I say I'm jealous he gets to go to work Hmm

PavlovtheCat · 10/09/2010 22:26

Hey all. I have just come on to read and wish to say this before i even read on...

tigger you are not just a SAHM!!!!!!

PavlovtheCat · 10/09/2010 22:37

on the subject of tantrumming babies - DS does jazz hands and full on anger face when a) food is taken from him b) food is not given to him c) we don't shovel food in quick enough, d) when DD takes a toy from him e)we try to get him in his car seat f) when he wakes up in the middle of the night, to see his dada there for cuddles and not boob his mama! If in his car seat/chair he bounces back and forth so hard if we are trying to feed him he won't eat or smears it across his face! I find them sooooooooooo funny, he looks so angry and his face goes red and i crumple with laughter. But then, i have to walk out the room sometimes when DD has a tantrum as she creases me up!

Teeth - have been putting gel on the top front only to find a tooth appeared on bottom next to the front bottom two, and then two at the top, one front and one eye tooth! weird, and poor boy, 3 at once, no wonder he doesn't sleep well!

Anyone else still have their baba in with them? The cub is going in this weekend, finally. I wake him up, once he sees me, that is it, we tried it this week with me in another room, 3 days in a row, and the third night i actually slept most of the night, first time for 18 months! then last night back in bedroom and he woke 4 times. So sunday latest, he is on his own!

Have been working hard, good to be back at work but its been intense, lots of action going on, keeps me on my toes. And then housework/groundhog day!

skorpion · 11/09/2010 09:07

Night feeding after feeling all smug at how my clever dd quickly cracked it, we're back on. Lucy does the same thing, helips, feed at 11pm, then up at 2am and NOT SLEEPING FOR AN HOUR. I usually capitulate and take her to bed with us just to get some sleep. Oh, she's fine in our bed.

She's just been prescribed some anti-fungal cream for her bottom, poor thing is really suffering with it being raw and itchy. Nappy rash gone nuclear...

Have been to see my boss about going back to work. Managed to reduce my week to four days. Great on one hand but will have to see what the long term financial situation is going to be like. I am hoping that we will have got used to less money coming in as I am not getting paid now. We'll see.

No period here yet. I am actually wanting it to come on as I would really like to work on number two as soon as. Had this thought recently, that I would like to have three kids in all, no idea where that came from.

Pavlov I'm glad to see you're enjoying being back at work.

Hope you'll enjoy the weekend. Weather is looking grim around here. We might still go out mushroom picking, I have a massive pot of plum preserve on the stove, autumn is officially here.

Lucy has just moved on her bottom about half a metre to get to the basket I made for her. Heuristic play - fabulous idea, they play with various everyday objects and it keeps them busy for quite a while.

Oh, and I have also tried the oil cleansing method for last couple of nights (an MN staple apparently) and cannot believe the difference. To think, all that money I'd spent on scrubs and masks!

Sorry, this has become a bit of a mammoth post. Have a good weekend! xx

jemjabella · 11/09/2010 17:16

We do the heuristic play/treasure basket thing too :) I need to get a bigger basket so I can fill it full of more crap though Wink

scarlotti · 11/09/2010 18:47

The heuristic play here is the recycling box Blush he loves it!

skorpion I saw the oil cleansing thing too, what do you use to cleanse then?

Bum shuffling here, but the beginnings of crawling I think. He falls forward on to his hands and can push himself backwards if on the wooden floor, but then he gets stuck!

Night wise, we're not feeding anymore but he can still wake and not settle, so then comes in with me. Am sure I'll have to stop that soon...

Tamlin · 12/09/2010 01:40

Scarlotti, I think I need to go back and find the previous thread to catch up - you're separating..? I'm so sorry, I hope that it gives you a real chance to get your head sorted and work out what you need.

Skorpion, I got pregnant with my second pregnancy without ever getting my period back after my first. It means that they have to guess at your dates a bit, but if you start feeling queasy or particularly mardy, I'd think about testing...

Arthur can walk up to five steps now, but generally, prefers to cling to my knee with clammy hands and shriek. Is this separation anxiety..?! My first little extravert never went through it, but Arthur is generally more anxious around strangers than he was. He's cracking his third tooth, but still sleeping ok (it's his wretched brother who's up carolling all hours and he's NEARLY THREE, WHEN DOES IT END? Ahem.)

I took him in for his nine month checkup on Thursday, and was surprised when they wanted to give him some vaccines - the flu vaccine, which everybody seems to get before the start of winter in the US, and Hepatitis B. I said ok, signed the consent forms, and they duly stuck him. Then we got a phone call that evening saying 'Whoopsie, there was a breach in safety procedures - the nurse forgot to check what vial she was taking out of the fridge, and she gave Arthur the wrong vaccine.' At this point, I had to put the phone on mute because I was swearing like a dockworker. Has anybody heard of this happening?! The mistake should have an okay outcome as they gave him the Hepatitis A (not licensed for the under-12 month age group, mind you), but as I wasn't planning on having him have the Hep A at all, I'm still pretty ticked.
