What is it with friends and relatives not telling us things. Just found out from fb that my friend and chief bridesmaid is pregnant again unless there's anything else that the status update 'has heard baby's heartbeat and is reassured' can mean. Am v.happy for them but Envy and Sad that she didn't say anything to me.

CrispyTheCrisp · 25/08/2010 07:32

Morning Smile

In bed watching Thomas. I am getting shouts for Peppa Pig, but cannot stand it any more so have told the girls it doesn't work on the bedroom DVD player BlushGrin

Spring that is so rubbish. Maybe people think these days that FB is as good as a call or text . I dunno Confused

tweakers aha, now i get your misunderstanding. I thought everyone (bar my sister) had read Harry Potter!

Lazy day here as my trip for work has been postponed to tomorrow. Have a friend coming round later and staying for lunch. Will swim or playground this morning if when cabin fever sets in

tweakers · 25/08/2010 08:31

hots i don't mind you asking as long as you don't mind me telling you to bugger off! oh and that you remember that i'm not due til the 10th of Sept Wink

but yeah, camping next year would be great Grin (here's hoping i'm not an elephant and therefore still pg!)

hi TS, hope you had a good sleep

spring it is sad but perhaps crisp is right and she thought that fb was a good way to tell everyone. i don't really get it myself, fb's useful for spreading the word etc but can't be relied upon, particularly with my friends/family because so many of them aren't on it.
Remember your friend will be v hormonal so why not just give her a call to tell her how excited you are for her?

crisp hmm we have similar issues with Peppa &&*& Pig Grin DS watches it on You Tube but it 'doesn't work' if its too early Wink Have your girls seen The Wotwots? They're mildly educational and I thought of you yday during one of the episodes because there was a red panda in it!

bad night here because DH was convinced/dreaming that i was in labour and kept waking me up to check i was ok Hmm

oopsandbabycoconuts · 25/08/2010 10:28

Tweaky - now you are speaking my language - Peppa (soon to be bacon)Pig and the WotWots are obsessions watched here regularly, infact we have a sky box full of them both. Although the ILs introduced DD1 to Mickey Mouse and something called BabyTV on Sky. She now walks around asking for BabyTV.com Shock

Took DD2 for her second jabs, poor girl was a bit stunned the howled and bit my boob! A big feed and snuggles sorted it and she is now fast asleep.

QueenofDreams · 25/08/2010 12:08

Hi everyone, been awol a while as life is a bit boring at the moment.

S now has chicken pox so we have to stay in till he crusts over.
had second scan yesterday. Sonagrapher couldn't get a proper look at the bits but tentatively suggested that it's a girl. She said not to go out and buy loads of dresses though as she can't be sure.

Um otherwise there's really not much going on here. Hope everyone is doing ok, I haven't caught up on the thread!

tweakers · 25/08/2010 13:41

if your wife was due to have a baby any day now would you

a) make sure you had your mobile with you at all times

b) leave it at home whilst you go off to work Hmm

Answers on a postcard, prize for the winner!

tweakers · 25/08/2010 13:42

oh and the numpty hasn't even got a phone on his desk that's accessible to the outside world!

tweakers · 25/08/2010 13:45

oh and even better, he's just phoned to say he's popping out for lunch and then in meetings for a couple of hours!!

worry not, i'm remaining very calm and scoffing a huge bowl of chocolate fudge cake ice cream with raspberries on the side Grin The plan is to bribe Pea to stay where she is with good food!

springaporesling · 25/08/2010 14:38

Oops we have babytv here all I can say is at least the programmes are short!

Thanks re friend. I will give her a call at the weekend. I know it is difficult with time differences etc but she's a teacher and so on school hols so doesn't have my usual excuse of being busy at work. Oh well you lot can rest asssured you'll be the first to know if I ever managed to get pregnant again.

Car has arrived and seat fitted yesterday took ds to friends party this afternoon and it is already ds's car - he didn't want to get out and I am a convert to automatics!

luckoftheirish · 25/08/2010 17:01

watcha red/vg/pert/cyteen and anyone else i have forgotten Smile

CrispyTheCrisp · 25/08/2010 18:20

Can someone send me a boat please??? It has POURED all day so we have done jigsaws (Tweakers, DD1 is spectacularly rubbish lol), colouring, cbeebies games, made pizza and played outside for about 5 minutes. Friend came for lunch and the elder DC's amused themselves playing hide and seek (always just hiding behind the sofa cushions Grin)

DH away so a riveting evening painting my toenails. May have a bath to mix it up a bit Hmm

Hoping there is no flooding as I have to drive 250 miles tomorrow and don't fancy meeting the same road conditions as i did in 2007

TS GLad K got over her morning wobble Smile

QoD Hope the chickenpox is a mild bout. I guess that explains his upset over the last week. Always the way!

tweakers is dimwit DH home?

Hi LOTI, sorry to hear the CM making it a performance Sad. Have you got a docs appt before Spain?

TwilightSurfer · 25/08/2010 18:42

Confused trying day. after i unravel i'll give all a proper hello, hug and attention. btw, day isn't over yet so please don't hold your breath.

GladioliBuckets · 25/08/2010 19:00

Hey Cyteen, check out this home-made non-flowery bouquet.

CrispyTheCrisp · 25/08/2010 19:25

D'oh, meant DD2 in my comment to Tweakers Confused

buckets i'm afraid i think that bouquet is pretty hideous. Sorry Blush

GladioliBuckets · 25/08/2010 19:28

Well yes it is but mostly because of the hideous nylon lace and white plastic. An artistic type could do a wicked one with dark green ribbon and vintage bits...

cyteen · 25/08/2010 19:33

I've seen loads of those on Etsy and Offbeat Bride etc. Buckets is right, they can be lovely, although v labour-intensive for a lazy person like me. Actually sorted my flowers out yesterday afternoon so that's one of the many, many jobs off the wedding to-do list.

Crisp it has pissed down all day here too, after a beautiful crisp autumnal morning. Fortunately I was at work and DS was enjoying his first day back at nursery. He was so happy to be back, I didn't even get a goodbye glance!

longwayfromhome · 25/08/2010 20:26

hello everyone!

Am avoiding work. My parents are truly lovely people.

It's my third wedding anniversary today. Am feeling most romantic. This time, three years ago, I was probably demanding Kylie from the DJ. On reflection I do this every time I go to a wedding, and they never listen, but this time I was the one wearing the white dress so he had to listen ha ha! He still pulled a face and we didn't get half and hour of good Kylie, but well.

In fact the disco was really nice at our wedding, with all the Argentinians really boogying!

So everyone (who is married, or planning to get married, or just likes the question)

What was the first dance at your wedding?

We danced to the Joyce County Ceildh Band by the Saw Doctors. DH is quite a classical dancer and couldn't really dance to it very well, and on reflection the words aren't really very romantic at all, but well, it has a catchy tune and I like the song ...

This blither was bought to you by longwayfromhome

Love and thoughts to all

CrispyTheCrisp · 25/08/2010 20:56

LOL Longway, you always make me smile Smile

No first dance for us as i hate being the centre of attention and people looking at me to the exclusion of all else. No photographer either for the same reason Blush

tweakers · 25/08/2010 21:12

longway well i love and enjoy your blither!

our first dance was...hmm.. give me a second.... Blush damn, I should really remember shouldn't I?!!

i'm off to google...

tweakers · 25/08/2010 21:15

found it Grin

and

tweakers · 25/08/2010 21:16

thanks Longway... i'm listening to it now and its making me smile Smile

longwayfromhome · 25/08/2010 21:39

tweakers what fab music. I played in a big band when I was very young. I was pretty rubbish, but it was very cool indeed.

Still avoiding my students ...

poppysocks · 25/08/2010 21:43

Long time, no see!

Hope all well with everyone. Haven't had a chance to keep up/catch up but you are all in my thoughts, partic. miamla/tweakers(?). V. exciting! Smile

Life horribly busy at the mo but largely good. Good hol (albeit rainy, but what else can you expect in the UK) and lots of change for DD1 with ner nursery, childcare and other stuff. She's basically been great but def. a bit more fragile than usually which has caused a fair bit of Angry but c'est la vie.

Many happy birthdays to all the Aug '08 not so littlies. DD2's big day was spent strapped down in her car seat travelling home from Devon ShockBlush. She's so great, she really is. Her speech is incredible now and it's so lovely chatting to her now. She looks so grown up now too. She's really tall and her hair is now half way down her back with fantastic curls. They really need to be trimmed, but can bear to Blush.

Making an effort to spend more time with DH in the evenings and new job with evening working looming so I won't be around much (and as usual virtually absent from FB) but will be thinking of you and will try to pop in lurk from time to time. Smile

tweakers · 25/08/2010 21:46

i'm listening to yours at the moment! def a catchy tune..i like! similar sounding to the Pogues.. seen them live a few times now. DH doesn't really get it but he does put up with them for my sake! must be love!

the reason we chose our song was because DH has far too many left feet and hates dancing so it made sense to choose something we could just mess around to!
