Hey poppy, was thinking about you earlier today. You sound happy :)

If DP and I have a first dance, it will probably be to .

Been to visit my dress tonight, with shoes etc. The dress still fits [gladness] and the shoes look ace, but can't figure out the veil so it's being junked.

dizzydixies · 26/08/2010 00:00

cripes I'd even dropped off the 'threads I'm on' list [meep]

busy couple of days with orders

first dance was 'it had to be you' for long drawn out reasons Smile but happy Anny Longway

hosp appt for hip on Tues, can't come soon enough

still full of self doubt and loathing about this cakey business

evening all and night

TwilightSurfer · 26/08/2010 01:03

We didn't have a first dance but we did have a first comic. Seriously, this is the what we did immediately after our nuptials by Elvis.

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 26/08/2010 09:41

We didn't have a first dance type wedding either, but we had Mrs Robinson by The Lemonheads after we were pronounced husband and wife, followed by Wonderful World by Joey Ramone for DH whose latent autistic streak comes out in his obsession with The Ramones...

La-la love yours though cyteen Smile and loving the idea of a comic turn TS Grin

Back at work today, had the day off yesterday and that plus camping makes me feel like I've been off for a month again. Took the DC for new shoes yesterday as was Blush to realise how long it was since they had been measured. Thank goodness for crocs...Anyway the first shop we went in had nothing that would fit Thor or DD so we had to brave the seven circles of hell Clark's but miraculously got some for both. Don't really want DD to have black shoes if she's not wearing a uniform so she has ended up with some sort of trainers but DS got these ones size 7.5H Shock they are v cute though and he is v happy that they've got a truck on Grin

luckoftheirish · 26/08/2010 09:44

Morning Ladies,

Tweaky hope you are ok??

Our first song was pure shores from all saints Grin..

luckoftheirish · 26/08/2010 09:45

xpost hots hope you are well and have a good day at work Grin x

tweakers · 26/08/2010 10:08

morning all

i'm ok thanks loti, just feeling very dizzy (sorry dizz!) so off to lie down on the sofa again and hope DS doesn't cause too much destruction in the meantime Hmm

cyteen · 26/08/2010 12:08

Ooh loti I love Pure Shores, great choice :) and you too hotter, I even have Mrs Robinson on 10" vinyl Grin

Good luck at DD1's nursery grad loti - do you think you'll cry? I bet I will when the time comes.

hotter the last two times we've tried to buy shoes for DS he has thrown a wobbler in the shop and refused to try anything on. Last time we literally had to hold him down and wrestle a pair of Doodles onto his feet because his other shoes were so much too small. Of course he loves them now Hmm

luckoftheirish · 26/08/2010 13:08

Hope you are taking it easy tweakers being dizzy is no
fun Sad

well dancing completed. Dd1 cried for most of it but did manage to do one dance for mummy. Dd2 on the other hand ended up on the stage Hmm Grin

cyteen I KNOW I'm gonna cry this afternoon I cannot believe that my pfb is going to big school in a couple of weeks ekk

we have yet to brave it for new shoes but that will be done tomorrow god help me!!

QueenofDreams · 26/08/2010 14:53

Hi all.

cyteen how much bicarb should I put in the bath for S? I know my mum put bicarb in the bath when I had cp, but I can't recall how much to use (I only have a little weeny tub of the stuff)

Happy Anniversary Longway

When DP and I get married I very much doubt we'll do the whole 'first dance' thing. I've never yet seen DP dance EVER.
We had a real open money chat last night. It was a little uncomfortable to say the least. But the good thing is I now FINALLY know how DP feels about it all/views our situation. He said he gets frustrated because whenever he tries to talk about it I put up barriers. Like I'm so determined to be independent and sort it out myself that I won't let him know what's going on Blush

S a lot more spotty today Sad I was hoping it was only mild but he's now pretty spotty with some horribly big blisters especially on his tummy, bottom and legs. He's pretty clingy, but that's understandable and overall he's not being too bad considering. I remember vividly how rough I felt when I had CP!

Getting used to the idea that we are probably having a girl. Have to admit I was leaning towards wanting another boy but I think that's just because I adore my boy so much! At least naming will be easier. We used up the only boy's name we could agree on when we had S Grin

Anyway that's an unusually long post from me Hmm Hope you're all doing well :)

tweakers · 26/08/2010 15:00

oh my!! who the hell let me near a pair of scissors??? I've just cut DS's hair....waiting for it to dry now... really hoping its not going to look as awful as I fear it will

cyteen · 26/08/2010 15:19

QoD just give a good shake of bicarb into the bath, whatever you can spare. I had a normal-sized baker's tub of the stuff and used it up in three baths, I think.

Glad you got to talk about the money.

dizzydixies · 26/08/2010 15:22

nelsons tea tree antiseptic cream on Seb's spots too Queenie - sorry to dash, just trying to keep up Blush

QueenofDreams · 26/08/2010 15:30

Thanks cyteen and dizz

Oh my God the heartburn has kicked in big time.

springaporesling · 26/08/2010 16:08

Tweakers I'm sure he can pull it off whatever the outcome.

Happy Anniversary LWFH - ours seems like a boring choice but was always very sadly our song - Louis Armstrong - We have all the time in the world.

QoD glad you and DP managed to have a chat about finances and hope S itchiness is easing. I got horrendously bitten at 2nd birthday party yesterday so can sympathise a little. I stuck a mosquito path on ds but completely forgot about anything for myself.

Mum and Dad took DS out this morning and result was he had 15 min nap in his pushchair then spent 40 minutes chatting and singing in his cot and wouldn't go back to sleep - queue one very over tired and difficult boy for mummy this afternoon - sigh...

Dizzy you're bound to have some 2nd thoughts about new business but as long as it is what you really want the positives far outweigh the negatives. You are a very brave lady - I don't have your courage and admire you for it tremendously.

Can you tell it's 11pm and I've been drinking?

alittlebitshy · 26/08/2010 17:24

Hi all.
sorry - been out of action with hols etc. ha d a lovely couple of weeks - seeing friends with their new dd (after 3 dss)' then a week in the Lake District, a weekend at a friend's holiday cottage amazing, then a day at Alton Towers.

Tried to skim the thread but can see no new babies yet Grin. why is mrsm called tweakers now and is it permanent?

Sorry about the pox qod

LWFH we had a ceilidh and shared our first dance with my 4 year old little friend (was living with her family before i got married and she was my shadow that day). we don;t do dancing. well i don;t, dh can't but does so this was the best option for avoiding all embarrassments.

any other news to know about???

CrispyTheCrisp · 26/08/2010 18:54

Blimey ALBS, that's not a cottage Confused

dizz wobbles are natural and you must be shattered. Big {{{{hugs}}} and please take care of you. xx

spring LOL at the typo. Putting a mosquito path on DS would surely have made mosquitos all march up and down his poor little body Grin

Ann I was sold an anti histamine cream by the chemist especially for CP. Apparently it is quite new so worth asking for if poor S is suffering Sad

Bless littleLOTI and her last day. At least i have another year before turning into a blubbering wreck

poppy glad all is well and nice to 'see' you. Can't believe you didn't pop in for a cuppa as you drove past our door though

Hots is that your last planned camping trip for the year? We may try and sneak one in Sept if the weather improves Hmm

tweakers · 26/08/2010 20:19

oh for goodness sake!! just found out that my mum is still drinking FFS!!! how is she going to drive DS from my house to hers if she's had a drink?? She's got the option of staying here with DS but she didn't want to do that. She has said all along that she wants him at hers. fair enough but, she assumed that DH would drive DS over there. but that leaves me on my own. DS labour was only 7hrs and i didn't even realise it was that long to be honest. it was only because i was at the hospital and they kept saying, ooh so that's another contraction. i didn't believe them until i actually started feeling them properly which wasn't that long before he was actually born

i really really don't want to be on my own in labour. I think i've managed to convince her to make tonight her last night of wine Confused

i hope nothing happens tonight.....

sorry, rant over Blush

and relax... how are we all doing? sorry, haven't caught up...off to have a read now

dizzydixies · 26/08/2010 21:00

tweakers Envy I won't go into detail about my 33+hour labour Envy

evening all, shattered, more to do but decided to stop and eat Grin hoping to catch up properly after tomorrow night Hmm

QueenofDreams · 26/08/2010 21:05

Argh tweaky that does sound like a nightmare :( THankfully MIL lives round the corner from us and doesn't really drink so it shouldn't be an issue. We also have a friend who is happy to be on standby if it all kicks off over Christmas while IL's are up in London.

I took DS to the doctor this afternoon, so he got a bottle of calpol on prescription and a bottle of piriton for the itching. Couldn't get any tea trea lotion so just using calamine although it seems to bother him when I put it on him.

Haven't heard from DP about him coming home so am assuming he's ended up caving in and going for drinks with work even though he said he wasn't going to.

tweakers · 26/08/2010 21:05

sorry dizz!

if you're shattered, please try and get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight

CrispyTheCrisp · 26/08/2010 21:06

Tweakers if she chooses to have a drink then she has to come to yours via taxi (assuming she has not had a shed load and still ok to look after T). She cannot dictate it all Angry

DO you have any other backup childcare? We used my CM, mainly because we have no-one else close, but it definitely took family 'issues' out of the equation.

Started work at 7am this morning and drove 250 miles so pretty knackered Confused. DH poured a glass of vino though, so feeling pretty relaxed now Grin

tweakers · 26/08/2010 21:16

tis ok, i've spoken to her again since our first chat earlier and she has agreed that tonight is the last night she'll be drinking. she did also just start going on about how wonderful my brother is. tried to explain i didn't want to talk about him, she pushed it, i then told her i was pretty upset about all the shit he caused when he was over last (he left vmail to say mum wasn't allowed to look after DS whilst he was visiting so left us without childcare late on a sunday before i was due to work on the monday), completely ignored my birthday, his nephew's birthday oh and the fact that DH and I are now married! she was saying how he's coming back for a friend's funeral in a few weeks and that it'll be lovely that he'll be able to meet Pea. I just told her it was up to him but that i wasn't going to make any effort at all re them meeting. i didn't say anything to her but i feel he's got an awful lot of humble pie to eat first especially after the huge fucking fuss we all made of him for his birthday last year.

hmm, don't know what happened there, i wasn't going to mention any of the above. i feel better for it though!

tempted to open a bottle of wine myself... hypocrite? me? don't know what you mean Grin

dizzydixies · 26/08/2010 21:16

Queenie, please don't use Calamine lotion - its horrible stuff and just annoys the itch even more

enjoy your wine Crispy - well deserved no doubt Smile

tweakers - no need to apologise, I wouldn't wish my 'efforts' at childbirth on anyone Blush

tweakers · 26/08/2010 21:23

what's the time dizz? time for bed is it?
