SadCyteen I hope this is over quickly, whatever it is.

Tweakers I am flabbergasted! He didn't give you a foot massage. Well, you tell him he's on my naughty list.

Yes, I very excited about the room mom thing. We only have 14 kids this year. 7 are from our class last year and all 7 have involved parents. 1 new one is the daughter of an old friend who is a very involved parent. 2 new ones' parents have already contacted me about their desire to be involved. another 1 will obviously be involved because her child has allergies. i've met the mother of yet another 1 as she works with my hairdresser; fingers crossed she'll be involved too. that's 12 sets of parents out of 14 that we know right off the bat will help us this year. TOTAL SCORE!Grin

wow...me types too much....Hmm

took the girls to see Toy Story 3 at the theatre. It's the final weekend so we HAD to go. I called it a R bday surprise that K got to be included in.Wink We then went to Chili's for appetizers & desserts. K got all flustered that we weren't ordering "meals". I said "sometimes it's just about appetizers & desserts my dear." she still huffed. Hmm oh well, R was happy and even sang happy birthday to herself.Grin this birthday month celebration thing is fun.

TS did R sit through a whole film? i'm mightily impressed! Not something i've been brave enough to try with DS yet!

still no foot massage.... I'll pass your message on to him Grin

cyteen hope J feels alot better in the morning. its so horrible when they're ill

TwilightSurfer · 14/08/2010 23:14

R did not sit in one sit through the entire movie. She sat in about 7 seats. She climbed to the top of the theatre gallery. She climbed to the bottom of the theatre gallery. She rolled around on the scummy floor in front of the screen. She climbed over chairs. She climbed under rails. However, she did not fuss or scream. DH was a little unnerved but I just moved around staying where I could keep an eye on her but allowing her to explore this new environment. It was literally the last showing in town, the earliest showing on Saturday, so we were in the theatre with maybe 4 other families. Seating capacity on the door read 105.

She was very cute at one point trying to grab hold of Buzz's hand on the screen. "Touch Buzz Lightyear!" "Touch Buzz Lightyear!" Then she lay at his feet, on the scummy floor, and watch some more.

I washed her unclothed body parts after the show. OH, and found both her shoes which were in various locations.

tweakers · 15/08/2010 09:07

Well that's ok then! I suspect that's exactly how DS would behave!

RedLentil · 15/08/2010 09:18

Checking in again. Off to meet VG and Sazzles today so very excited. The sun is splitting the stones.

Hellos and happy birthdays all round! Smile

cyteen · 15/08/2010 09:29

Ah, have a great day Red, VG and Sgt Crisp :)

Looks like it is definitely the pox More spots today, so we're heading home early and missing the party (don't want to infect a load of nonagenarians, really). Having said that, J is his normal cheery self today and temp is normal so it could be worse.

So CC, hots and loti, I guess we will miss you on Tuesday :(

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 15/08/2010 09:45

cyteen Sad poor J

M had high temp and was sick last week. I hate to see them wit a high temp. Hope he is feeling better very soon.

red have a lovely day at the mini meet.

dizzy thinking of you.Smile

queenie hope you get a rest. I agree time away, even for an hour in the fresh air works wonders for me. (shame its took getting divorced for that break though)

tweakers I am getting so excited for you.

ts glad they both enjoyed the film. I was wondering if my two would sit through it. Need to see it soon for fear of spoilers.

ok be right back

dizzydixies · 15/08/2010 10:59

where the feckity feck is the post I popped up this morning

shattered! Didn't get to bed till 2.30am and Dylan was up at 6.22am. She has so far managed to spill her breakfast everywhere, throw all the DVDs down the stairs when I was in the shower and has now covered me in yogurt - I'm about to cry!!!

Sun shining here - of course because DH and I started back at work, so I'm off out with the girls before the oven gets put on again tonight!

Red, VG and Sazz - have a lovely time Envy

Cyteen - hope J much improved.

TS - well done you, I won't take them until they're at least 3 or 4 - its too expensive here to waste the money chasing them about and frankly I need the few hours for a sit down in a dark room Grin And thats brilliant news about all those parents getting involved, are there any dads? I'm on our parent council but as with everything else it is always the same people time and time again doing everything Sad

tweakers - hope you've got your feet up even if they aren't being rubbed Angry

Oops - hope yesterday went well

hello all else Smile

oopsandbabycoconuts · 15/08/2010 17:07

Afternoon ladies :)

Busy day yesterday and exhausting but DD loved seeing my mum and her dog - they all went for a walk in the rain and came back soaked but very very happy and DD1 was worn out which was the top bonus.

Today we all went out for breakfast at the local farmshop and came home to do a bit of gardening but that had to stop as we disturbed a wasp nest - now it is lovely out but we are sitting inside with all the doors closed until they settle down.

DD2 is being an absolute darling she slept 8.30 until 6.30 last night Shock I woke at 4 thinking she wasn't breathing and scared the living crap out of her when I grabbed her [stupid mummy] she glared at me and went back to sleep! She has learnt some new things this weekend too - she now kicks the dragon on the back of the seat in the car to make him rattle, she also grabs the toys on her playframe and shakes them and grins madly like a loon at them. DD1 is being challenging this afternoon - very very jealous of DD2 and DH cuddling so she has poked DD2, kicked DH and shouted at me for not taking DD2 from DH fast enough.

Dizzy - nights sound busy - hope you manage a bit of rest this afternoon.

Tweakers - hows Pea? Hope you too are resting and enjoying a peaceful Sunday.

Cyteen - Sad about the pox and having to miss the party.

Hellooo Red - hope you all had a fabbo day.

luckoftheirish · 15/08/2010 18:40

Sad cyteen that J has the pox, poor wee lamb and Sad about tues...

TS very impressed that R went to the cinema i am truly not that brave Smile..

oops dd2 sounds adorable and a very clever girl.. dd1 still gets a little jealous of her little sister so hug..

how are u today tweaky??

Dizz hope your day got better and the girls were their angel selves Smile..

red hope you have a fantastic meet with crisp and vg Smile..

decided to go to the wedding reception last night Smile.. great night lots of dancing Smile.. me and h got on really well and i have to say that he is improving every single day with both me and the girls Smile.. really hope it continues cos as much as he drives me around the bend, love him to death {soppy} {soppy} Smile

dizzydixies · 15/08/2010 19:33

cyteen forgot to say if it IS the pox the worst is normally past in terms of them feeling poorly once the spots come out. Fingers crossed its a mild does of spots and take heart from the fact it is easier for them when they're younger. Nelsons Tea Tree Antiseptic cream is the best thing to put on the spots or bicarb in a luke warm bath or oats through the sock method (messy but effective)

sorry you're missing out but glad that he's perked up slightly

LOTI - glad you had a nice time and great that H is playing nice but please remember it is no more than you deserve!

Oops - how wonderful to hear how well E is coming on already - you're going to have two clever cookies there!

had lovely afternoon with the girls in park just behind Poppy's house - she was already busy so no chance of an impromptu meet up but we really enjoyed ourselves. Just getting them to bed now and then work begins again Grin

cyteen · 15/08/2010 20:30

Thanks dizzy :) I remembered your oats-in-a-sock tip from previous thread poxes, so have done that this evening Grin It definitely seemed to help. Also true that he seems completely well in himself now, just itchy and with a bit of a cough, so that's a relief really.

Just hope I don't get it myself now! Am fairly sure I haven't had it yet Hmm Fingers crossed my itchiness is just sympathetic.

Glad to hear you've had a great day with your beautiful girls :) May you have many more, you deserve them.

CaptainCaveman · 15/08/2010 20:36

wotcha...cyteen am really sorry you will miss tuesday Sad. We can always do another one next month Grin

just putting ds1 to bed..

springaporesling · 16/08/2010 04:14

Cyteen glad that J feeling ok but sorry you had to cut your trip short and that you don't get to go on the meet up.

Dizzy hope you get some rest soon.

TS good news on the Room Mom stuff.

Red, VG, Sazzles Hope you have a lovely time on your Irish meet up!

I have two questions that I know have been answered on our thread previously (being lazy and can't be bothered to search) - gas bbq recommendations - what was the brand that was suggested? Car seats - we are thinking of taking the plunge and buying one despite extortionate prices as DS becoming less and less safe in a taxi - what would you recommend?

springaporesling · 16/08/2010 05:49

Oh I forgot to mention I got my exam results on Friday - I got a distinction Grin

oopsandbabycoconuts · 16/08/2010 07:03

Singa - Well done on the exam results. The best carseat for your situation would be this I is Which's safest carseat and it does not need strapping in then strapping into the seat. They are light and easy to use - we have one for DD1 for the grandparents car - they can't get is wrong and it transfers so easily from car to car.

Tweaky - how are you this morning?

Cyteen - how is J today?

Everyone else - Hellooooo

luckoftheirish · 16/08/2010 07:28

well done singa!!!! Grin..

Hope J is feeling a bit better today cyteen, pirtion works really well if he get uncomfy with the itchiness.. fingers crossed u don't get it either..

watcha oops Smile

springaporesling · 16/08/2010 07:31

Thanks I missed a bit we are buying a car so not just the seat - the cost of seat is not extortionate but car is!

CaptainCaveman · 16/08/2010 08:52

springa Grin Massive congratulations on your distinction, clever lady Grin

Very quiet on here last night...I for one was doing some dissertation writing . RED I'll be emailing you a draft of my lit review soon, if you wouldn't mind having a look?

Morning oops hows your little ladies today?
cyteen how is J doing?

Tweakers how are you doing?

TS congrats on being room mom again....what is a room mom (sorry if I'm being thick, I'll bet you explained this last year too!)

tweakers · 16/08/2010 09:20

i'm shattered but I'm ok. DH, DS, Pea and surges were all tag teaming me last night so very very little sleep was had. tv is on, sticklebricks are out so DS suitably entertained without needing me too much!
So tired but can't nap when DS does today because I've got a cube order to do Hmm I know I know, i shouldn't have said yes but she started asking about them ages ago and has only just decided on fabric combo. Hey, if nothing else it'll distract me from my surges!
DH doesn't reckon he'll be doing a full day at work today but he's been saying that for the last week!

well that was a bit of a random brain dump!

Hmm, I see i've called them 'surges' not 'practice surges' HmmSmile who knows!

spring well done!!!! that's brilliant news!!!
as for bbq, it was me asking (back in june) but i was after a charcoal one. weber's the make to go for if you change your mind about gas!

morning everyone else, apologies for not personalising more

cyteen · 16/08/2010 10:17

spring well done you big beautiful brain you! Have a celebratory cocktail tonight :)

tweakers I am lol'ing at the image of you in the birth pool still furiously cubing away as the midwife tries to convince you the baby's head is out Grin

Thanks for all the good wishes for J. He had a pretty decent night, just an hour of scratching and wriggling between 1-2am and is now running around the house being cheeky and funny. We're both still in our pyjamas as I am stuck in waiting for a delivery, not that there's anywhere I can reasonably take an infectious toddler anyway. Lucky he's such good company :)

tweakers · 16/08/2010 10:23

don't be silly cyteen, i couldn't do them in the pool...my pins might pop it Wink

so pleased J not down in the dumps whilst being ill. we're both in pyjamas here too. in fact, don't think i got dressed yday either Blush DS did though because he went for a walk with DH....actually, i'm assuming he dressed him first Hmm i can't remember!

hotterpotter · 16/08/2010 12:48

Good to hear J not too grumpy despite his spottiness cyteen, hope he is properly better v soon. Is it camping this weekend? Are you excited? We have decided to go Sunday - Tuesday instead of Sat - Tues so the campsite we wanted can fit us in after all, hurrah :)

Tweakers glad to hear the pool is up! Have you made sure you can fit the hose to the tap and that the pipe stretches far enough And do you have a thermometer? My pool came with a rubbishy fish one but found a cheap brewing thermometer from Wilkos which was more accurate. I wonder what that says about me... Blush

Hello everyone, I hope you are having as deliciously sunny a day as we are. It's DH's birthday and we have had cake, off to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in a minute for a run around in the sunshine Smile

Cece and Loti I have texted No1 but not heard back from her yet. Do you want to carry on with meetup or postpone until J is better and cyteen can come? Not that I am boring or anything... Wink

hotterpotter · 16/08/2010 13:02

Just heard from No1 and she can't come either Sad
