W has leather converse and he is the coolest boy apparentlyHmm

Ekka I hope all goes well with the consultant. Your poor DH.

loulou33 · 14/09/2010 21:16

leather converse - that is very cool. My MIL has a discount card for clarks (33% off) so my kids wear clarks, not because I'm a child shoe snob but because i get them cheaper...I love a bargain Wink DS1 hankers after 'cool' shoes but I'm too tight to buy them...I may have to give in soon but whilst I can still get away with it, i'll keep going.

Pistachio - glad you had a good time, Joe's balloon is much admired by all his friends!! Red shoes sound cool - I probably would have bought him the sparkly ones but that's because I would want them!!

Glad it all went well Myjob and that you had a good birthday.

Wow 25lbs. It doesn't seem any time ago at all that N was a little tiddler does it.

You may have had this conversation already but I can't remember, sorry. What are people getting their LOs for their birthdays? Various family members are badgering me for ideas and I can't think of anything. His nan is desperate to get him a micro-scooter which we were going to get so I think we might get the [[http://www.johnlewis.com/230857940/Product.aspx Playmobil 123 Farm) as a friend has it and it's been a big hit in their house.

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/09/2010 08:26

cf - we've got this for ds.

StarExpat · 15/09/2010 08:43

cf we got a thomas the tank engine mini 3 wheeled scooter for Q. We got it second hand off netmums but it's perfect size and everything for him. he loves it. Not for birthday, just because I saw it and got it. I do that instead of waiting for a birthday/xmas - I guess I should get into the habit of waiting to get him new toys and stuff until xmas/birthday. I can't decide how to do it.

StarExpat · 15/09/2010 08:48

wow myjob! 25lbs! She's grown!

Glad B's first day went well. His pics are gorgeous! :) :)

leather converse very cool.

What a fab deal, loulou!

50ftQueenie · 15/09/2010 10:47

Glad you managed to get through the first day without shedding a tear Myjob. And Shock N is heavier than M now. By nearly 2lb! Hard to believe that this time last year she didn't even weigh a stone. Well done not so tiny N!

Ronshar - Leather converse are very cool. M has three pairs of Converse.... (two of them were bought in the Next sale so I'm not quite that mad).

CSWS - M would LOVE that! Bashing stuff with a hammer.

CF - So far we have got M a kitchen from Ikea and some bits to go with it. I am going to get her some Lego too as she is obsessed with DS's lego. Playmobil is a good option too.

Star - I always want to give M her presents straight away but it because I want to see her play with them etc.... Alas, my children are spoilt. Blush

We have bought a ride on bike thing for W. It is a metal one rather than the wooden ones. Really groovy looking. I have to worry about keeping up with him on it. It is still in the box so he cant see it or I will end up letting him ride it now. (anything for easy life mummy)

DD1 is still very emotional. The slightest thing sets her off. H looked at her funny yesterday and world war three started. I shut the door and let them get on with it!

Loulou I am a Clarks girl too. It causes all kinds of trouble when it comes to DD1 school shoes. They are not cool enough.

Myjob wow at N. She has grown up into a big girl now. All that worry about her size and she has shown us all!Grin

Duvet washing and drying to day. What fun.

KSal · 15/09/2010 12:48

we got emma the kitchen from ikea too. we gave it to her this morning . her birthday is tomorrow but i am in hospital with pre eclampsia and excess amniotic fluid now until the baby is delivered. discharged myself temporarily to see her Sad.

looks like i will be delivering by whatever means at 37w which is a week from today... hoping to stretch it out a little longer to increase chances of bf success.

she loves it by the way!

and i am posting this from a kindle... which is very cool!

StarExpat · 15/09/2010 13:00

Oh Ksal :( I hope you're keeping as comfortable as possible and so exciting about the very soon arrival of your new baby! :)

Q has a kitchen but I want to get him a new one (not until we move, though!).

50ft I don't think it's being spoilt to get your kids toys when not a birthday or xmas or other commercialized holiday.

I'm not sure what exactly Q will get yet.

We may have a (low) offer on our property. They want us out asap, though, which will mean us finding a property asap, too!

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/09/2010 13:56

:( KSal. Do you have bf support lined up already? Did I tell you before that lll meet up in L'Worth once a month now? There is a meeting next Tues iirc if you are able to escape and come along.

KSal · 15/09/2010 16:55

I haven't lined up any support csws and i won't be able to leave here again without baby. they are going to scan on tuesday to see if the head is far enough down to induce othrwise it will be a cs. i guess if that is the case (and it curently seems likely as baby is happily swimming free) then i will make full use of time in hospital to get things underway. A friend of mine gave birth here a few months ago and they seem to have improved on their bf support and general post natal care since last time. thankfully.

star do you think you would go for the offer or is it too low?

No I do not think N is "too heavy" for her height. WTF is that? Q has been very heavy for a while (despite low birth weight!) and I have always asked "is he too heavy? Is he overweight?" and they always say a firm "no". Is that just because he's a boy? If so then, Angry for little girls and their mothers.

She looks healthy and fine in her photos. I can't believe they said that!

Pistachio I'm sure the dc will be nicely spoiled on their weekend away :) and we can't wait to meet you!

Coconutfeet · 15/09/2010 19:54

Oh Ksal, I'm sorry to hear you're stuck in the hospital away from Emma on her birthday. I hope they're looking after you well though.

CSWS - D is going to love that workbench! S would adore it. Sadly we don't have the space. I love that Ikea kitchen too. A friend of mine has it for her dd and I really like playing with it. Blush

Star - are you going to go for the offer??

Coconutfeet · 15/09/2010 19:55

Oh and Happyland stuff looks good. I've not heard of it before. Will check it out.

StarExpat · 15/09/2010 21:13

I don't know if we'll accept the offer. Most likely yes. If she offers. We'll see. She wants us out asap, though. We can't just go into rented until we find a new place... not enough money to do that. So (apparently from what the estate agent tells me) she may not offer because we're not willing to do that Hmm

Pistachio that pirate ship is really cool. Q plays with it every time we go to ELC for a play look around.

I want to get Q a ride on motorbike. There is one at cm's that he adores and DH rides a motorcycle every day to work so he is really into them.

I also want a scuttlebug. But have to find a cheap one.

I think he'd also really love a garage. he loves loves loves his cars and trucks and always plays with garages when we see them out and about. He has his thomas track at the moment that he loves. hmmmmm

50ftQueenie · 16/09/2010 08:37

Oh KSal. I am so sorry to hear that your stuck in hospital on Emma's birthday. The only consolation is that she is so young she won't remember. Sad

Myjob - What nonsense..... I have just looked at the health record book and N is still below the 50th percentile for her weight. Don't worry about it, she's not eating crap. Who's to say she isn't just about to have a growth spurt? Surely the only time to worry is if they are outside the normal parameters...... M's growth has slowed down and she isn't a giant anymore, she's only 50th percentile for height. Which makes more sense.

CF - Happyland is great. O loved it when he was young and M has fairyland stuff which she loves. I have a feeling that we are going down the fairy princess route.... Blurgh......

Star - Q needs a garage. O got one for his 2nd birthday and he sat and payed with it for hours! He missed a lot of his party as he was too busy playing with the garage.

Pistachio - He will be fine without you, but awww how sweet of him. Have a lovely time down South.

We are going to take M to choose some of her own presents too as she is getting to that age where she has 'opinions'. I think the fairy shop in Bluewater will be a firm favourite.

50ftQueenie · 16/09/2010 09:51

I meant to say before - When O was about this age we used to let him do a certain amount of choosing when we went clothes shopping. He would wander off and come back clutching sparkly t-shirts or silver dresses and pink shoes. The throw a wobbler when we put them back and tried to convince him into liking a brown jumper or similar.... We are going to get M some Lego as she is obsessed with O's Lego and that will be pretty unisex. But she is turning into such a girly.

StarExpat · 16/09/2010 10:16

Lucky us all of Q's clothes so far have been handed down (still in excellent condition, bought new and worn a few times each by one child!). We're so lucky that his little friend is just at the next stage of growth after him and that his mother loves to shop for lovely boys clothes :) I feel VERY lucky.

I'll get a garage Grin thanks 50ft!

Q loves glitter and pink and can now identify "pink" rather than just calling it red Hmm and "sparkly" Grin

Coconutfeet · 16/09/2010 20:02

Star - we've been lucky like that with clothes too. I've barely had to buy S anything and just keep passing things round.

S was very taken with a patent number when we were shopping for shoes. There's surely got to be a market for coloured, sparkly boys' shoes.

Well fingers crossed you do get the offer Star. I know you're very keen to move aren't you. We've been flat hunting with no luck so far. Went to see a place today that was lovely but the second bedroom was tiny with a mezzanine bed and fixed ladder so we'd never have been able to leave S in his room unaccompanied without worrying about him climbing up and breaking his neck.

Annoyed. Some motherflipper has keyed my car. It's already knackered - there's no need to make it even worse!

Ekka · 16/09/2010 21:37

Oh yes, M is another boy here who likes pink! We decorated cakes yesterday and all our pink sprinkles are now gone, mainly due to him.... He also asks for a 'swirly dress like E' whenever she wears one of her dresses. Poor little chap!

No idea what to get M for his birthday, maybe an easel as he loves painting/drawing.

Good luck for the house Star, I hope you find somewhere to move to soon.

Ksal, sorry to hear you are stuck in hospital, especially for Emma's birthday. As 50ft says, she won't remember, but its tough for you all. Still, not long till you will be back home plus baby!
